The legendary Santana set the music world on fire back in the late sixties out of San
Francisco with their hypnotic blend of Latin-fused rock, jazz and soul, augmented with brilliant
and skillful musicianship of their leader and guitarist Carlos Santana. Bursting on the scene
initially with the worldwide smash hit single Evil Ways (Santana's Greatest Hits Friday Music
#33050), this first offering would prove to become the huge catalyst for things to come.
Throughout the remainder of the late seventies and beyond, Carlos Santana would take
the band to the top of all the popular music charts as the 1976 fusion classic Festival would
go on to yield a plethora of hit tracks at all formats of radio.
No stone is left unturned, as this 10 track masterpiece is loaded with hit after hit with
smash singles like Carnaval, Let The Children Play and of course their stellar single Give Me
Love, all featuring the voice and hipness of Leon Patillo.
As one of the most enduring albums in their massive career catalog, Santana's Festival
included some significant album tracks too like the rocking masterpiece Let The Music Set You
Free and the powerful Reach Up, which features the legendary funk and soul groovemeister
Leon Patillo on lead vocals and keyboards, the stunning lead guitar work of Carlos Santana,
plus long time associates Tom Coster on keyboards, Jose Areas on percussion and Paul
Jackson on bass. All in all, this is a collection of songs which took the fans by storm, forever
retaining the title superstars to the Santana franchise.

Carlos Santana & Buddy Miles: Live! (Speakers Corner)
'Live' was the watchword of the liberated and permissive post-Woodstock era, when anyone and everyone could do wonderful things and musicians really let themselves go - and it opened the door for Santana and his musicians. While devotees of pure styles found it hard to dip into the bubbling melting pot of progressive rock, others - hungry for emotion - plunged eagerly into the moloch world known as 'Sounds of the 70s'.
Among the great events during this time was the get-together of Santana and a grandiose group of musicians together with Jimmy Hendrix's ex-drummer Buddy Miles at the Sunshine Festival in Hawaii. Inspired by the electrifying atmosphere we hear the smacking sound of an organ in John McLaughlin's Marbles, lush rocking Latin grooves (Lava) and gospel-like vocal artistry (Evil Ways). After an intensively re-worked version of the old favourite Them Changes, in which the band certainly lets one know that they can be 'heavy' when they want, the musicians let themselves go in 25 improvised minutes in Free Form Funkafide Filth. Such unleashed power could never be tamed and captured on tape in the studio simply because it can only be created in the freedom of an open-air stage.

About Speakers Corner
At the beginning of the 90s, in the early days of audiophile vinyl re-releases, the situation was fairly straightforward. Companies such as DCC, Mobile Fidelity, Classic Records and, of course, Speakers Corner all maintained a mutual, unwritten ethical code: we would only use analogue tapes to manufacture records.
During the course of the present vinyl hype, many others have jumped on the bandwagon in the hope of securing a corner of the market. Very often they are not so ethical and use every imaginable source to master from: CDs, LPs, digital files, MP3s - or employed existant tools from the 80s and 90s for manufacturing.
A digital delay is gladly used when cutting a lacquer disc because tape machines with an analogue delay have become quite rare and are therefore expensive. When cutting the lacquer, the audio signal is delayed by one LP revolution against the signal, which controls the cutter head, and for this a digital delay is very often employed. Of course, the resultant sound signal is completely digital and thus only as good as this delay.
We should like to emphasise that Speakers Corner Records on principle only uses the original master tape as the basis for the entirely analogue cutting of lacquer discs. In addition, the pressing tool is newly manufactured as a matter of principle. We have one digital recording in our catalogue (Alan Parsons / Eye In The Sky"), but even in this particular case we used the analogue tapes for cutting.
We only employ existing tools for manufacturing if an improved result is not forthcoming, e.g. the title Elvis Is Back, which was mastered by Steve Hoffman and Kevin Gray, or several titles from our Philips Classics series, which in any case Willem Makkee cut from the original masters at the Emil Berliner Studios in the 90s. It goes without saying that we only used the mother and that new tools were made for our production.
To put it in a nutshell: we can ensure you that our releases are free from any kind of digital effects - excluding the exception above - and that the lacquer discs are newly cut.

MoonflowerMastered from the Original Columbia Records Tapes by Joe Reagoso and Kevin Gray at RTI/AcousTech
Moonflower was a mega triumph set for Carlos Santana and his band. Flying high from major success with their Festival and Amigos albums, Moonflower furthered this excitement in both the studio and concert setting. With a generous mix of Santana classics and new and soon to be classics like The Zombies Shes Not There, Moonflower rapidly achieved gold and platinum status.
The Moonflower line-up was second to none. Featuring the classic rock guitar styling of the legendary Carlos Santana, along with supreme vocalist Greg Walker, power drummer Graham Lear, pianist Tom Coster and the return of Jose Chepito Areas along with Paul Rekow and Pete Esovedo on percussion, this album was truly an inspiring and groove event for the ages.
