    Dark Skies OST

The film "Dark Skies" is a world where the threat is not supernatural but alien in context. This powerful new score by Joseph Bishara, composer of "Insidious" and "The Conjuring" (in theaters this summer) sonically blends horror sensibilities with tense science fiction overtones as waves of static rise and swell to silent stops, unrecognizable sound manipulations soar while strings, winds, and crystal bowls hold open a reality that suggests the terrifying is also staggeringly fascinating.

    Remastered From Original Analogue Masters

Another favorite of true Rush fans, this sixth studio album, Hemispheres, once more explored fantasy and science fiction themes in Neil Peart's lyrics. The final track, the ambitious nine-and-a-half minute 'La Villa Strangiato,' was the band's first instrumental. The album peaked at #47 on the Billboard charts, and was the group's fourth consecutive gold album in the U.S., featuring the singles 'The Trees' and 'Circumstances.' Originally released in 1978, Hemispheres has now been remastered on 200-gram, heavyweight vinyl at legendary Abbey Road Studios using the Direct to Metal Mastering (DMM) audiophile copper plating process, all from original analogue masters.

Timber Timbre's music has always traced a shadowed path, using cues of the past to fuse the sound of a distant, haunted now. On its fourth record, Timber Timbre coats the stark, sensual sound of 2014's album „Hot Dreams" in an oil-black rainbow of municipal grime. It is the cinema of a dizzying dystopia, rattled by the science fiction of this bluntly nonfictional time. Sincerely, Future Pollution is Timber Timbre's document of this generation's degeneration and disarray. With Kirk as narrator, a party to the play, we get caught in the folly of the echo chamber, awed by the contrast of this gothic modern age.

    Alien (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)

Mondo is proud to present Jerry Goldsmith's score to Ridley Scott's 1979 masterpiece, Alien. An absolute essential soundtrack for not only fans of the franchise, but of the legendary composer, and of science fiction and horror cinema itself. There is no doubt Alien is a monumental achievement in movie making, it's tense, terrifying and pretty damn untouchable. The score by Jerry Goldsmith is an absolute masterclass in building tension and scaring the hell out of you within the film but it also is a beautifully orchestrated stand alone listen full of excitement that harks back to many of the rollicking adventure scores of the 40s & 50s.

This initial EP won over many new fans with its inspired vision of how music with its DNA in a vintage future - formed by a childhood growing up with the peak of Science Fiction, from Close Encounters, to Blade Runner and Doctor Who - can sound. It hit upon a creative and adventurous way to fly above the needless analog and digital binary and represent both sides.

The story of the doomed mission of the Space Shuttle Ambition. Classic science fiction of the darkest order. And so it goes, every track here is the potential soundtrack for some lost B movie classic, from the almost disco drums and groovy synth pulse of the title track, wreathed in sweeping swaths of keyboard shimmer, to the creeping komische swirl of Weightless which would no doubt score some 2001 A Space Odyssey type sentient computer/alien on board seventies sci-fi thriller, to the drum machine drive new wave-y grooviness of Solar Winds, which sounds like the weirdly and creepily jaunty music that plays beneath the closing credits, over the last image freeze-framed, alternatively it also sounds like some lost cold wave gem that could be a Dark Entries resissue!

THE STAGE is the follow-up to Avenged Sevenfold's 2013 release, Hail To The King, which entered The Billboard 200 at No. 1. Co-produced by the band and Joe Barresi (Queens of the Stone Age, Tool), THE STAGE is a work of immense scope and ambition, featuring 11 panoramic tracks tied together by an Artificial Intelligence theme. Inspired by the writings of Carl Sagan and Elon Musk, the album is the band's first thematic release. While the term "AI" conjures up images of robots and fantasy films, the band steers clear of a science fiction storyline. Instead, the album sees them taking a futurist's look at the accelerated rate at which technology's intelligence is expanding and what that means-good and bad-for the future.

The album's epic 15-minute-plus closing track, "Exist," features a guest appearance by award-winning astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson giving a spoken word performance he penned specifically for the album.

Alien: Covenant is a science fiction horror film directed by Ridley Scott (Alien, Blade Runner, Gladiator) which stars Michael Fassbender and Katherine Waterston. The film, a sequel to 2012's Prometheus and the sixth in the Alien film series, follows the crew of the colony ship Covenant as they discovered the ruins of the doomed Prometheus expedition on a remote planet. The world soon reveals itself to be inhabited by dangerous creatures that force the crew into a fight for survival. The original score to Alien: Covenant was written by Australian composer Jed Kurzel (The Babadook, Macbeth). Sun Ship

Sun Ship is a jazz album recorded on August 26, 1965, by tenor saxophonist John Coltrane. The album extended the free jazz ideas of Transition. The relaxed, serene feel of earlier ballads like "Welcome" was transformed into a new style of ballad on "Dearly Beloved" and "Attaining". This style involved very slow tempos, drum rolls and fills, and a louder, more intense feel than traditional jazz ballads. Like "Psalm" (from A Love Supreme), there is no real tune, just a scale or series of tones used to build an improvised theme.

Coltrane's solos on the other tracks are also more extreme than on his earlier albums, and are reminiscent of the style of Albert Ayler and Pharaoh Sanders in their extensive use of altissimo and multiphonics. The title "Sun Ship" may have been inspired by Sun Ra's conception of free jazz as having an affinity with science fiction conceptions of human existence.

Sun Ship was one of the only albums John Coltrane's quartet recorded without sound engineer Rudy Van Gelder. It was also one of the last albums (with First Meditations, recorded a week later) which John Coltrane recorded before he began experimenting with larger groups. Tenor saxophonist Pharaoh Sanders was playing regularly with the band by September, 1965, and both McCoy Tyner and Elvin Jones left the band in January, 1966.

    Limited to 2000 Copies

Obscurities is a collection of Stephin Merritts (The Magnetic Fields) hard-to-find recordings dating back to his time on Merge (19941999) and prior. The 14 tracks on Obscurities, including five previously unreleased songs, were recorded prior to the release of The Magnetic Fields seminal album 69 Love Songs, which established Merritt as one of this generations most talented songwriters. Three of the unreleased tracks hail from The Song from Venus, the unfinished science fiction musical written by Merritt and Daniel Handler, aka Lemony Snicket. Also included are four songs culled from various Merge-era 7 vinyl singles by The Magnetic Fields; two from The 6ths, Merritts guest vocalist-laden side project; one from an audio book; one from the Oh, Merge compilation CD; and a track from a rare K Records cassette-only release.

Among the tracks on Obscurities is The Song from Venus Forever and a Day, a solo-acoustic ukulele-based love song reminiscent of 69 Love Songs The Book of Love. Also included on Obscurities is The Sun and the Sea and the Sky, a previously unreleased 69 Love Songs outtake. Merritt points out: This song didnt go on 69 Love Songs because it wasnt actually about romantic love. The album concludes with You Are Not My Mother and I Want to Go Home, which originally appeared in the audio book version of Neil Gaimans Coraline, for which Merritt composed the soundtrack.

Transmaniacon take the blueprint and soundworld laid down by Bloodrock, Mountain, Steppen-wolf, Blue Oyster Cult and Alice Cooper, and add a hefty slab of dark doom, hard riffs, punk atti-tude and stoner metal to ramp it up for the 21st century. The vibe is steeped in 70's rock, but the sound is definitely 'NOW' From the Sabbathian sludge of 'City Of Chaos' to the Dead Kennedy-esque 'An Eye For An Eye' and the stoner moves of 'Chasing The Insane' the album is shot through with twists and chock full of riffs. This is hard rock at its hardest and heaviest set against an expansive post apocalyptic backdrop. Nothing encapsulates the cinematic darkness more than the album opener, which grafts a progressive approach to hard rock and doom. 'Quintessence of Dust' is a 24 minute monolithic mindfuck of epic proportions, the now completed score to the still-born science fiction horror story possibly. An intense listen that features the spoken word talents of punk poet Lydia Lunch. 'Quintessence Of Dust' is a grim eco warning, a tale of alien invasion and payback time for a future Earth's corpulent consumer-ism, rampant waste and self centred greed. Pacific Rim is a 2013 American science fiction monster film directed by Guillermo del Toro, and starring Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba, Rinko Kikuchi, Charlie Day, Burn Gorman, Robert Kazinsky, Max Martini, and Ron Perlman.

The film is set in the future, when Earth is at war with the Kaiju, colossal monsters which have emerged from an interdimensional portal on the bottom of the Pacific Ocean. To combat the monsters, humanity unites to create the Jaegers, gigantic humanoid mechas each controlled by at least two pilots, whose minds are joined by a neural bridge. Focusing on the war's later days, the story follows Raleigh Becket, a washed-up Jaeger pilot called out of retirement and teamed with rookie pilot Mako Mori as part of a last-ditch effort to defeat the Kaiju. The movie was highly successful in many territories, earning more than $411 million.

The film's score was composed by Ramin Djawadi, with guest musicians Tom Morello (Rage Against The Machine, Audioslave) and Priscilla Ahn. Ramin Djawadi is best known for his scores for the movies Warcraft, Iron Man, Prison Break and for HBO's hit series Game of Thrones.

Cloud Atlas is a 2012 science fiction film written and directed by The Wachowskis and Tom Tykwer. Adapted from the 2004 novel of the same name by David Mitchell, the film has multiple plots set across six different eras, which Mitchell described as a sort of pointillist mosaic. The official synopsis describes it as an exploration of how the actions of individual lives impact one another in the past, present and future, as one soul is shaped from a killer into a hero, and an act of kindness ripples across centuries to inspire a revolution. Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, and Jim Broadbent lead an ensemble cast.

The score was composed by director Tom Tykwer and his longtime collaborators, Reinhold Heil and Johnny Klimek. The trio have worked together for years as Pale 3, having composed music for several films directed by Tykwer, most notably Run Lola Run, The Princess and the Warrior, Perfume: The Story of a Murderer, and The International, and contributed music to the Wachowskis' The Matrix Revolutions. Music Score By Marco Beltrami

The Giver is a 2014 American 'social science fiction' film directed by Phillip Noyce, based on the 1993 novel of same name by Lois Lowry. The film stars Jeff Bridges, Meryl Streep, Brenton Thwaites, Alexander Skarsgård, Odeya Rush, Katie Holmes, and Taylor Swift.

The film, based on Lois Lowry's book, tells the story of a perfect world. Everyone here is happy. When Jonas is 18 years old, he's chosen to be the community's Receiver of Memories. He enters into training with an old man called The Giver. From the Giver, Jonas learns about pain, sadness, war, and all the unhappy truths of the ''real'' world. He quickly realizes that his community is fake. Confronted with this reality, Jonas faces difficult choices about his own life and his future.

The score for The Giver was composed by veteran and prolific American composer Marco Beltrami, who recently provided the score for films like Carrie. The orchestral score is featured prominently in the movie, and is what makes the movie so powerful

    Apocalypse, girl

Think big, girl, like a king, think kingsize. Jenny Hval's new record opens with a
quote from the Danish poet Mette Moestrup, and continues towards the abyss.
Apocalypse, girl is a hallucinatory narrative that exists somewhere between fiction
and reality, a post-op fever dream, a colorful timelapse of death and rebirth,
close-ups of impossible bodies - all told through the language of transgressive
    pop music.

When Norwegian noise legend Lasse Marhaug interviewed Jenny Hval for his
fanzine in early 2014, they started talking about movies, and the conversation
was so interesting that she asked him to produce her next record. It turned out
that talking about film was a great jumping off point for album production.
Hval's songs slowly expanded from solo computer loops and vocal edits to contributions
from bandmates Håvard Volden and Kyrre Laastad, before finally
exploding into collaborations with Øystein Moen (Jaga Jazzist/Puma), Thor
Harris (Swans), improv cellist Okkyung Lee and harpist Rhodri Davis. All of
these musicians have two things in common: they are fierce players with a great
ear for intimacy, and they hear music in the closing of a suitcase as much as in a
    beautiful melody.

And so Apocalypse, girl is a very intimate, very visual beast. It dreams of an old
science fiction movie where gospel choir girls are punks and run the world with
auto-erotic impulses. It's a gentle hum from a doomsday cult, a soft desire for
collective devotion, an ode to the close-up and magnified, unruly desires.
Jenny Hval has developed her own take on intimate sound since the release of
her debut album in 2006. Her work, which includes 2013's critically celebrated
Innocence Is Kinky (Rune Grammofon), has gradually incorporated books, sound
installations and collaborations with poets and visual artists. For Hval, language
is central, always torn between the vulnerable, the explosive and total humiliation.

    Zones Without People

Whether paired with Taylor Richardson (Infinity Window) or solo (Oneohtrix Point Never), Daniel Lopatin rarely strays from the world of science fiction. Each synthesized note; each string of composition; each fractured note a piece of a world once brought to us by Carl Sagan and Leonard Nimoy. Zones Without People continues to explore the vast virginal openness that is space-and like the atmosphere he deftly reproduces in sound, Lopatin's boundaries are always contracting and expanding to create music for all beings of the universe.

Zones Without People is the spastic cousin of Clint Mansell's soundtrack to the sci-fi film, Moon. Where Mansell built spatial melodies around isolation, Lopatin's synth-and-bleep collage bridges the emptiness of space with the fertile imagination of the science geek in all of us. Zones Without People is the sound of haywire robots (Learning to Control Myself), malfunctioning spacecrafts (Format and Journey North), and shooting stars (Hyperdawn) all wrapped within the universe's infinite expansion. Rather than separate his 8-bit sound effects and his lush synth drones, Lopatin marries the two in perfect harmony. The mechanisms we've associated with space exploration thanks to countless films and documentaries are funneled through Lopatin's rich textures, producing the quintessential sci-fi album for anyone who adores how previous generations interpreted the music of the planets.

Daniel Lopatin does not shy away from the sounds of high school science films nor is he afraid of creating music with boundaries, which is why Zones Without People will continually amaze. Lopatin's latest puts a whole new spin on the clichÉ, It's a grower-as just in space, Zones Without People is ever-growing with the reverberations of one big bang.
