Beat-Club was a German music program that ran from September of 1965 through December of 1972. It was broadcast from Bremen, Germany and is notable for being the first German show to be based around popular music, featuring artists like The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Tina Turner, The Who, Black Sabbath, The Bee Gees, The Beach Boys and Kraftwerk in its seven-year run.

Rory Gallagher was one of the shows most frequent visitors performing four times in the space of just over two years. His first appearance on the program was with his band Taste in 1970 and he returned soon after with his own solo work. This 2-LP set features 12 classic versions of Rory's early solo material from three separate performances circa 1971-72. 180g double vinyl reissue from Rock Classics Records.

    Filles De Kilimanjaro

    Numbered, Limited Edition

Davis' Self-Proclaimed "Directions in Music" March Begins Here

Mastered from the Original Master Tapes: Abundant Jazz, Funk, and Rock Textures Rotate Around a Luscious Tonal Center

Landmark 1968 Effort Recognized as Davis' Prelude Into Full-On Fusion: Exotic Suite-Like Album Beautiful, Intense, Adventurous

Miles Davis' move into full-on fusion starts here. Abandoning his bebop roots and chasing electric dreams, rock-based rhythms, and ostinato pulses, the icon gives life to new music forms on Filles de Kilimanjaro, a titanic release prized for its historical significance and lasting beauty. Grounded and focused, the five compositions unfold like a unified suite. Such peak lyricism, flourishes, and phrases are experienced in the highest-possible fidelity on Mobile Fidelity's 45RPM 2LP set.

Mastered from the original master tapes and pressed on 180g vinyl at RTI, this collectable audiophile version of Filles de Kilimanjaro joins the ranks of eleven other essential Davis sets given supreme sonic and packaging treatment by Mobile Fidelity. Loaded with revealing signatures, the record takes on even greater import when heard the way Davis and his mates discerned it in the studio. Backgrounds are squid-ink black, pianissimo lines shimmer, and the electric piano emerges with tube-amp warmth.

Indeed, the exotic sound, touch, and feel of the songs on Filles de Kilimanjaro are as crucial as the melodies. To that extent, listeners can now enjoy the expressive tonalities and lush colors from each instrument in full-range glory. Voicings, harmonics, and pitches are rendered with exquisite detail. The manners in which the textures and phrases rotate what seems like a unified tonal center places you at the original recording sessions, executed in July and September 1968.

The final appearance of Davis' classic second quintet bears fruit on three of the record's cuts, including the title track and R&B-tinted "Frelon Brun." Sparked with restrained funk, driving grooves, and bluesy accents, Filles de Kilimanjaro maintains an instinctive flow and controlled fredom that permit Davis to oversee an innovative blending of alterations, improvisation, and cycles. Comprised of multiple sections, "Petits Machins" is a lesson in perfectly played melodic complexity, with chromatic riffs, dominant chords, syncopated progressions, and switching meters forming a singular mosaic.

Filles de Kilimanjaro also represents a jumping-off point for Davis' lineup. For the September sessions, Chick Corea replaced Herbie Hancock while Dave Holland relieved Ron Carter. The new additions speak a different albeit common language, fitting in with Davis' desire to draw from rock and weave funk into open-minded excursions filled with exoticism, soulfulness, and wonder.

More than 40 years ago, this record epitomized the future of jazz. Davis even announced such aspirations with the tagline "Directions in Music." With the jazz world still trying to wrap its collective mind around its genius, it still does.

    Locked Down

Storied musician and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Dr. John (aka Mac Rebennack) releases Locked Down, a startling album that marks a significant departure from his recent efforts. The new album, produced by The Black Keys' Dan Auerbach, is Dr. John's first for Nonesuch Records.

Its an entirely new approach for the iconic Dr. John, featuring as it does his collaboration with Auerbach and a band of young musicians Auerbach hand-picked to make Locked Down at his studio Easy Eye Sound in Nashville. It was way cool cutting this record with Dan and the crew he put together for it, says Rebennack. It's reel HIP.

For his part, Auerbach says about the collaboration: Mac inspired me every single day we were in the studio together: musically, spiritually, cosmically, something special seemed to be happening and everyone involved could sense it. For my money, Mac's one of the greatest who ever was and who ever will be, I'm so honored to have had this opportunity to work with him.

Auerbach, a long-time fan of the influential musician, dubbed the Night Tripper in the late 60s, visited Dr. John late in 2010 in his hometown of New Orleans, announcing his ambition to produce the best record you've made in a long time. Rebennack replied that he had done his research, his children had told him good things about The Black Keys, and the conversation led to an agreement to collaborate on the 2011 Bonnaroo Jam being curated by Auerbach.

That performance, called by New York Times critic Ben Ratliff in his best-of-the-year list deep and oozy, close-to-the-vest, low-frequency funk, confirmed that something unusual was taking place and led to September recording sessions in Nashville. Dr. John returned to Nashville at Thanksgiving to complete the vocals and Locked Down was mixed by Auerbach and completed in early 2012.

Raised On Rock-For Ol' Times Sake

Raised on Rock/For Ol' Times Sake is a studio album by Elvis Presley released in 1973. Along with the album Elvis, it was released after the massive success of Aloha From Hawaii (although the entire Elvis album contained material recorded before the Aloha show). The album, which sold over one million copies worldwide, was recorded at Stax Studios in Memphis, Tennessee in July 1973 and at Presley's home in Palm Springs, California in September 1973. Two songs from these sessions would be retained for release on the Good Times album the following spring. The initial vocal tracks were recorded in July 1973. Raised on Rock backed by For Ol' Times Sake was the only single released from the album, reaching #41 on the Billboard chart and #42 on the Country chart in September 1973.

Additional contributions by Rock and Roll Hall of Fame guitarist Duane Eddy and Italian operatic pop trio Il Volo. Rounds out the year of Elvis' 80th birthday, which includes a year of landmark events including the launch of a newly-designed website (www.ElvisTheMusic.com); the opening of two massive retrospective exhibitions-one located at London's O2 Arena and the other located in Las Vegas; and the second commemorative Music Icons Stamp from the United States Postal Service with a companion music release on August 12!

'Continuum' is the 3RD studio album by John Mayer, released September 9, 2006 on Columbia Records. Recording sessions for the album took place during November 2005 to September 2006 at The Village Recorder in Los Angeles, California, Avatar Studios and Right Track/Sound on Sound in New York City, and Royal Studios in Memphis, Tennessee. Production was handled primarily by Mayer and Steve Jordan.
This album marked a change in Mayer's musical style and incorporated musical elements of blues and soul more heavily than in his previous work with pop-rock.

The album debuted at number 2 on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart. It also reached the top-ten in several other countries and sold over 3 million copies worldwide.

The album contains the worldwide hits 'Waiting On The World To Change' and 'Gravity'. On this 180 grams vinyl release we presents the album with a bonustrack ´Say´, which is now available on vinyl for the first time!

Both Sides of the Sky (Pre-Order)

Both Sides Of The Sky presents 13 studio recordings including 10 which have never before been released. All but two of these studio recordings were made during a fertile period between January 1968 and 1970. Jimi's mastery and use of the studio as a proving ground for new songs resulted in a growing collection of extraordinary material. This album completes a trilogy of albums [with Valleys Of Neptune and People, Hell & Angels] presenting the best and most significant unissued studio recordings remaining in the Hendrix archive. The songs include fascinating alternate versions of Stepping Stone, Lover Man and Hear My Train A Comin' as well as recordings where Jimi is joined by special guests Johnny Winter and Stephen Stills. Both Sides Of The Sky was mixed by Eddie Kramer, the engineer for all of Hendrix's albums throughout the guitarist's lifetime, and produced by Janie Hendrix, Kramer and John McDermott.

Mannish Boy - The first ever studio session by the group Hendrix would christen as his Band Of Gypsys. Hendrix, Cox & Miles shared a love for the blues as this driving, uptempo reworking of Mannish Boy by Muddy Waters makes clear.

Lover Man - Just two weeks before their triumphant New Year's concerts at the Fillmore East in NYC [yielding both 1970's Band Of Gypsys and 2016's sequel Machine Gun], Hendrix gathered with Cox and Miles to cut this dynamic rendition of what had become a favorite concert staple.

Stepping Stone - A totally unique take on this Hendrix favorite, with Jimi showcasing both blues and country styled licks atop a relentless, galloping beat.

$20 Fine -Stephen Stills joined Jimi, Mitch Mitchell and Buddy Miles Express keyboardist Duane Hitchings at this September 1969 session. With Stephen handling lead vocals and organ, Jimi added multiple guitar parts to this rollicking Stills original.

Power Of Soul - This 1970 studio session came three weeks after the Band Of Gypsys concerts at the Fillmore East. While a live version remains one of the highpoints of Band Of Gypsys, Jimi never released a studio version during his lifetime. For this album, we present the mix that Hendrix and Kramer prepared of the complete song at Electric Lady on August 22, 1970.

Jungle - The influence of Curtis Mayfield can be heard here as Jimi expands on the Villanova Junction Blues theme he made famous by its inclusion in the 1970 Woodstock documentary.

Things I Used To Do - Jimi is joined for this rendition of Guitar Slim's blues classic by Johnny Winter. Jimi's trademark guitar work and Winter's deft slide playing weaves in and around the foundation set by bassist Billy Cox and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young drummer Dallas Taylor.

Georgia Blues - Jimi reunited with some old friends from his pre-Experience days. Lonnie Youngblood, with whom Hendrix played in R&B groups like Curtis Knight & The Squires, voiced this superb twelve bar blues neatly underpinned by Hendrix's sublime rhythm and lead guitar work.

Sweet Angel - With Axis: Bold As Love only just released, Jimi immediately turned his focus to recording what would become Electric Ladyland. This gorgeous, instrumental reading of Angel,, features Jimi on guitar, bass and vibraphone joined by Mitch Mitchell.

Woodstock - Stephen Stills came to this session fresh from having visited Joni Mitchell, who had a new song that Stills was excited to try and record. Long before CSNY's version, Stephen, Jimi and Buddy Miles recorded this amazing rendition.

Send My Love To Linda - A superb new Hendrix original composition recorded with Cox and Miles in the aftermath of their successful Band Of Gypsys performances at the Fillmore East.

Cherokee Mist - Together with drummer Mitch Mitchell, Jimi created this moody, evocative original complete with his playing of a sitar to complement his traditional electric guitar.

Moody Blue is the twenty-fourth and final studio album by American singer and musician Elvis Presley, originally released by RCA Records the month before his death in August 1977. The album was a mixture of live and studio work and included the four tracks from Presley's final studio recording sessions in October 1976 and two tracks left over from the previous Graceland session in February 1976. Moody Blue was a previously published hit song recorded at the earlier Graceland session and held over for this album. Also recorded at the February session was She Thinks I Still Care. Way Down became a hit after Presley's death less than one month after this album's publication. The album was certified Gold and Platinum on September 12, 1977, and 2x Platinum on March 27, 1992, by the RIAA.

The Blueprint is the sixth studio album by American rapper Jay-Z, released September 11, 2001 on Roc-A-Fella Records in the United States. Its release was set a week earlier than initially planned in order to combat bootlegging. Recording sessions for the album took place during 2001 at Manhattan Center Studios and Baseline Studios in New York City. Contrasting the radio-friendly sound of Jay-Z's previous work, The Blueprint features soul-based sampling and production handled primarily by Kanye West and Just Blaze. At the time of its recording, Jay-Z was awaiting two criminal trials, one for gun possession and another for assault, and had become one of hip hop's most dissed artists, receiving insults from rappers such as Nas, Prodigy, and Jadakiss.

    Ready To Die

Ranked 133/500 on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

Ready to Die is the debut album of American rapper The Notorious B.I.G., released September 13, 1994 on Bad Boy Records. The first release on the label, it features production by record producer and Bad Boy founder Sean Puffy Combs, Easy Mo Bee, Chucky Thompson, DJ Premier, and Lord Finesse, among others. Recording sessions for the album took place during 1993 to 1994 at The Hit Factory and D&D Studios in New York City. The partly autobiographical album tells the story of The Notorious B.I.G.'s experiences as a young criminal, referring to himself as the black Frank White. Ready to Die is his only studio album released during his lifetime; B.I.G. was murdered days prior to the release of his second album Life After Death (1997).

    Love Lust Faith + Dreams

Love, Lust, Faith and Dreams is the upcoming fourth studio album from American rock band Thirty Seconds to Mars.

The recording sessions for Love, Lust, Faith and Dreams took place from April to December 2012, at the Laboratory in Los Angeles, U.S.A.
In September 2012, The Summit, an event where fans are invited to contribute chorus vocals to tracks on the album and previously held to record choral vocals for This Is War in 2009, was held. Unlike This Is War, where an entire audience-sized crowd took part in the recording, the summit that took place for the recording of Love, Lust Faith and Dreams was more stripped-down and organic, with only 20 to 25 people contributing vocals to the record.

To follow up This Is War, the band began to work on their fourth studio album immediately after the conclusion of the Closer to the Edge Tour. Frontman Jared Leto wanted an album that has ebb and flow and content and structure., a sharp contrast to the band's previous work. Leto began writing for the album in December 2011, and by the time the band started the recording sessions for Love, Lust, Faith and Dreams in April 2012, he had amassed a total of 50 songs.

Ranked 17/500 on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

Released in September of 1991, Nirvana's sophomore album and major label debut elevated Kurt Cobain, Krist Novoselic and Dave Grohl from a critically acclaimed Aberdeen, Washington, cult band to generational spokesmen who'd unwittingly created a cultural shift and musical touchstone. Rising to #1 the world over by year's end and ultimately selling over 30 million copies worldwide, Nevermind would come to be much more than one of the most successful and influential albums of its or any era. As the album that returned unaffected rock n roll integrity and passion to the top of the charts, Nevermind would prove a singular inspiration to fans and musicians alike over the last two decades, and will undoubtedly do so for generations to come.

Now, on the occasion of Nevermind's 20th Anniversary, Universal Music presents a full spectrum re-release worthy of such a pivotal classic. The reissue makes the most of the occasion, unearthing literally dozens of previously unreleased recordings, obscure B-sides, alternate mixes, radio sessions and studio rarities.

This 4LP 180-gram heavyweight vinyl Deluxe Edition of Nirvanas Nevermind 20th Anniversary reissue features the remastered album, B-sides, the Smart Studio sessions, Boombox Rehearsals and BBC sessions. Included is not only the original remastered album and accompanying studio and live B-sides, but the first full official release of the pre-Nevermind demos recorded at producer Butch Vig's Smart Studios, as well as boombox recordings of subsequent rehearsals through which the listener can actually experience Smells Like Teen Spirit, Come As You Are, On A Plain and others that take shape before your very ears.

    Rainbow Bridge (Soundtrack)

Remastered By Bernie Grundman From The Original Analog Masters

Rainbow Bridge is being reissued on vinyl, reintroduced with original album art and track orders and remastered by Bernie Grundman from the original analog masters.

Rainbow Bridge was compiled and mixed by Eddie Kramer and Mitch Mitchell in 1971, with the help of Electric Lady Studios engineer John Jansen. Most of the tracks were recorded in 1969 and 1970, during the same sessions that spawned The Cry Of Love. Rainbow Bridge is often misconstrued as being an entirely live album, being that the film of the same name features excerpts of a live Jimi Hendrix performance in Maui. However, Hendrix had no role in the creation of the rambling, unfocused 1971 film which was directed by Chuck Wein. The film was not a Hendrix project in any way but instead an independent vision of his manager Michael Jeffery. After Hendrix's death in September 1970, Jeffery scrapped Hendrix's original vision of a double studio album titled First Rays Of The New Rising Sun and called for Kramer, Mitchell and Jansen to compile two posthumous albums-including one that would that would serve as a soundtrack for the Rainbow Bridge film.

Mitchell, Kramer and Jansen drew upon Hendrix's rich trove of studio recordings that the guitarist had been developing at Electric Lady Studios. Songs such as ''Dolly Dagger'' and ''Room Full Of Mirrors'' were bright examples of Hendrix's new creative direction. Other standouts on the album included a studio rendition of ''Star Spangled Banner'' as well as the majestic ''Hey Baby (New Rising Sun).'' The one live track on the album, an extraordinary rendition of Hendrix's original blues composition ''Hear My Train A Comin''' is taken from a performance at Berkeley Community Theatre in May of 1970, and not in the film at all. Buddy Miles and Noel Redding both appear on one track each, and the Ronettes provide backing vocals on ''Earth Blues.''

After Hendrix's death in September 1970, First Rays Of The New Rising Sun was scrapped and instead two posthumous albums were created from the sessions, including one that would serve as a soundtrack for the Rainbow Bridge film.

    Yours Dreamily

The Arcs' debut album, Yours, Dreamily, will be released Friday, September 4 on Nonesuch Records. In anticipation of the release, "Stay in My Corner" was premiered on June 9 at NPR Music. Of the song, NPR Music's Stephen Thompson praises, " it's got a slinky, timeless feel, propelled with alluring ease by Auerbach's falsetto and a lush instrumental backdrop befitting The Arcs' roster." The Arcs will be touring in support of the album; details will be announced soon.

The Arcs collaboratively wrote and recorded 13 tracks for Yours, Dreamily, with the musicians playing a large array of roles both vocally and instrumentally. Co-produced by Auerbach and Michels, the album was recorded in roughly two weeks through spontaneous, informal sessions across the country at the Sound Factory in Los Angeles, the Diamond Mine in Queens, Auerbach's Easy Eye Sound in Nashville, and in a lounge room at Electric Lady in Manhattan. Tchad Blake mixed the album on his horse farm in Wales.

In advance of Yours, Dreamily, The Arcs recently released a 7-inch single. Inspired by the Floyd Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao boxing match, the single includes the songs "Stay in My Corner" b/w "Tomato Can." "Outta My Mind," a second 7-inch and the first single being released to radio, will make its debut later in June of 2015.

Much has been written about West Side Story, which began as a transmogrification of Romeo and Juliet as a feud between the Jews and Gentiles living on the East side in modern-day New York, only to morph into a confrontation between two street gangs, one American the other Puerto Rican, on the upper West side of the city. Initially, Leonard Bernstein, its composer, was to have written both music and lyrics, but Stephen Sondheim was eventually brought in to handle the latter. With Arthur Laurents contributing the book, and Jerome Robbins devising the staging, the show opened to great acclaim on September 26, 1957 at the Winter Garden, where it played 732 performances, and was subsequently revived several times on Broadway and around the country. But it was the film version, made three years later with Natalie Wood as Maria, that ensured its popularity worldwide. Though there are many recorded versions of the percussive score available, the original cast album, with its fresh, spontaneous performances, remains the standard by which all others are measured.

    American V: A Hundred Highways

The ethical questions surrounding this final album in the American Recordings series are as unavoidable as they are, ultimately, peripheral. While the
vocal tracks were recorded in the months just prior to Johnny Cash's passing in September 2003, the arrangements weren't undertaken until two years
later. And though producer Rick Rubin had become a trusted friend, the Man in Black wasn't around to approve or disapprove, let alone guide, the final
sessions. However, if the pure power of these recordings doesn't quiet the skeptics, nothing will. With Heartbreakers Mike Campbell and Benmont Tench
and slide guitar session pro Smokey Hormel on board (all three of whom appear on earlier Cash albums), along with guitarists Matt Sweeney and Johnny
Polansky, the sound is stately and acoustic, but rarely staid, even as the dynamics of earlier recordings in the series are absent. Instead, the songs have
a measured, elegiac intensity, the sound of musicians choosing their notes carefully and making just the right choices.

The songs Cash sings are, unsurprisingly, confessional and reflective: his mortality and his mistakes, his maker and his salvation, and the loss of his wife
June and the end of his career may have weighed on his mind, but in these songs he both embodies and transcends his personal history. On God's
Gonna Cut You Down, as the musicians clap and stomp behind him, his voice cuts through the air like that same avenging hand. On the new original
Like the 309--the last song Cash ever wrote--he cops to being short of breath, and that voice becomes a metaphor for what each of us will one day face.
On Gordon Lightfoot's If You Read My Mind, Rubin flirts with overwhelming the damp bittersweetness of Cash's phrasing in tasteful atmospherics, but
the voice is implacable, hitting and finding notes one never expected he'd have the will to find. Likewise, it's hard to believe this is his first recording of Ian
Tyson's Four Strong Winds; the elemental narrative seems to have been written for him. Two songs, however, Cash has recorded before: the bornagain
hymn I Came to Believe and the final spiritual, I'm Free from the Chain Gang Now. The latter especially is a definitive testament, as is his version
of Bruce Springsteen's Further On (Up the Road). One sunny morning we'll rise, I know / And I'll meet you further on up the road, he sings. If only,
    John, if only. --Roy Kasten

    Is This It

Ranked 367/500 on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

Is This It is the debut studio album by American indie rock band The Strokes, recorded at Transporterraum in New York City with producer Gordon Raphael.

For the album, The Strokes strived to capture a simple rock sound that was not significantly enhanced in the studio. Building on the work of their 2001 debut EP, The Modern Age, the band members molded compositions largely through live takes during the recording sessions, while songwriter Julian Casablancas continued to detail the lives and relationships of urban youth. Following the completion of Is This It, The Strokes embarked on a promotional world tour before its release. The album's cover photograph courted controversy for being too sexually explicit and was replaced for the U.S. market. The American track listing was also amended in light of the September 11 terrorist attacks.

Promoted by the music press for a melodic pop-influenced sound, The Strokes garnered critical acclaim and commercial attention. Is This It was praised for its charisma and rhythm, which often referenced the works of 1970s garage rock bands. The record is considered crucial in the development of other alternative bands and of the post-millennial music industry. It has featured in several publications' lists of the best albums of the 2000s and of all time.

I've Got My Own Album To Do is the first solo album by Ron Wood, released in September 1974. An all-star project recorded outside of his activities with the Faces. Wood has said that the album title originated from contributors such as George Harrison and Mick Jagger nagging me to let them go home and finish their own projects.

During this period, Wood assisted Jagger in writing and recording the Rolling Stones' 1974 single It's Only Rock 'n Roll, while Jagger reciprocated by helping Wood with this album's opening track, I Can Feel the Fire. Keith Richards was another participant at the sessions, in addition to performing concerts in London with Wood to promote the release.

Wood's collaboration with Harrison, Far East Man, was re-recorded by Harrison and appeared on the former Beatle's Dark Horse album three months after the release of I've Got My Own Album To Do. Other musicians on the record include Rod Stewart, fellow Faces Ian McLagan and Kenney Jones, Mick Taylor of the Rolling Stones, and the all-American rhythm section of Willie Weeks and Andy Newmark.
