Slade are one of Britain's most popular and enduring bands, standing shoulder to shoulder next to the Beatles, Rolling Stones and The Who as an immovable part of Britain's rock firmament, and they've been lavishly praised by the likes of Messrs Lennon & McCartney and Mick Jagger, chaps who know a good tune when they hear one.
Described as the missing link between the Beatles and Oasis (the latter having covered 'Cum On Feel The Noize'), Slade are never far from British ears and hearts, having created some of the most beloved, indelible songs in the history of popular music.
When Slade Rocked The World 1971-1975 pays homage to their phenomenal run of hit singles and albums in the early 70s, when they seemingly could do no wrong.Slayed?

This hard working Los Angeles power quartet featured the great vocals and writing of front man Kevin Dubrow, bassist extraordinaire Rudy Sarzo, power drummer Frank Banali and guitar shredder Carlos Cavazo. Together, they delivered the goods in a big way, making Metal Health one of the first ever multi-platinum heavy metal albums to go number one. Live At The Marquee 1986Limited Edition 140 Gram White Vinyl
Back in the mid '80s, Andy Scott, guitarist, songwriter and producer was living in London carving out a new career for himself after forming Sweet who had no less than 13 UK Top 20 hit singles from 1971-1978 when he bumped into his old agent and from that meeting he decided to put together the next generation of the band.
Mick Tucker on drums, Paul Mario Day (ex Iron Maiden) on vocals, Phil Lanzon (Uriah Heep) on keyboards and Mal McNulty (Slade) on bass and Andy of course on lead guitar. It was one hell of a line up and a band with a much harder edge which is where Andy had always been keen to take Sweet.
Live At the Marquee was originally released in 1989 even though the concert had been recorded in 1986 prior to the Clubs closure in 1988. Two additional live tracks from that performance have been added as bonus tracks which are available for the very first time on vinyl!LP 1

We're All Alright! (Deluxe)Cheap Trick has announced the release of a new album, We're All Alright. Named in tribute to the band's 1978 hit Surrender, the album is the follow-up to last year's Bang, Zoom, Crazy... Hello, voted the 12th best album of last year by Classic Rock.
The band has also released a new song, Long Time Coming. Its riff bears more than a passing resemblance to The Kinks' classic All Day And All Of The Night, and it features the kind of keyboard motif that underpinned so many of the band's classic hits. It's our interpretation of Slade and MC5 and AC/DC and Aerosmith, Rick Nielson tells Billboard, but they're not steals. It's just, like, all the bands we like.
Y'know, we always write, but it's more fun to write for a project and write for a reason, he says. We have a company (Big Machine Records) that believes in us and they like the work and they're letting us make more records, which is cool. Making records is one of the ambitions we've always had. I don't think the desire has ever gone away.
We're All Alright was co-produced by the band Julian Raymond, and will be available in Standard and Deluxe Editions. The latter including three additional bonus tracks, among them a cover of The Move's 1968 hit Blackberry Way.

The MasterplanFollowing a British rock tradition initiated by the Beatles and lovingly inherited by the Jam and the Clash, Oasis is the only band of the era to offer fans extra tracks on their singles that are often as good as, if not better than, the hits. Rather than saving his new songs for the next full album, Noel Gallagher prefers immediacy. Thus, this compilation of those various B-Sides works just great as a listening experience, offering metallic rushes (Acquiesce, The Swamp Song) and absolute melodic beauty (Talk Tonight, the marvelous Rockin' Chair), while conjuring up the ghosts of Mott the Hoople, T. Rex, the Fab Four, and Slade. -Bill HoldshipLP 1

Live Through This (Awaiting Repress)
Ranked 460/500 on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.
This is the second studio album by alternative rock band Hole. The title is derived from a quote in the film 'Gone
With The Wind.' Considered a contemporary classic, this record was included in Rolling Stone Magazine's list of
'500 Greatest Albums Of All Time.' Features production by Sean Slade and Paul Q Kolderie with mixing by Scott Litt
and J Mascis.
This whole album is filled with scathing fury, mostly directed at the impossible situation that confronts women when they are asked to be both wild sources of pleasure and unblemished mother figures. Live Through This uses the same recipe of punk and metal wrapped around pop melodies that made Nirvana so captivating, but Hole uses the methodology in a more conventional manner. The metal ingredient tends to dominate, perhaps because it's the simplest to master, and too often the album resembles early Heart or late Joan Jett--particularly when Courtney Love opens up with her big, wailing voice. Love externalizes her anger, blaming all her problems on the rest of the world. Self-confrontation makes for far more interesting songs. -Geoffrey Himes1. Violet

I See The LightSourced from the Original Mono Master Tapes for the First Time!
The versatile Five Americans were so tapped into the heroic pop scene of 1965-66, they were able to pen brilliant original material that could, at times, sound something like the raw garage howl of the Rolling Stones, the jangle of the Byrds, the psychedelic mystery of Jefferson Airplane or the PhD folk-rock of Simon & Garfunkel.
Best of all, lead guitarist Mike Rabon, keyboardist John Durrill, rhythm guitarist Norman Ezell, bassist Jim Grant and drummer Jimmy Wright, put their own distinct stamp on a string of smashes that began with the mighty "I See the Light" in early 1966.
Hailing from Oklahoma, this hungry quintet hit the jackpot when they moved en masse to Dallas and hooked up with the red-hot Abnak label, run by John Abnor, Sr. Their debut longplayer, I See the Light, was a perfect snapshot of what made 1966 a watershed year for rock. The song of the same name opens with what may be the most famous held organ note in rock history, then turns to a stomping bass line that would have been the envy of Slade's Doc Marten army six years later.
"Goodbye" is a perfect extension of the Slick-Balin vocal tandem about to catch fire in San Francisco. "I Know They Lie" has that Byrds/Brummels Rickenbacker jangle down pat. "Don't Blame Me" and "It's a Crying Shame," a pair of snarling garage-rock nuggets, go directly for the jugular with results every bit as lethal as anything ever cut in the Lone Star state.
This 180g vinyl-only release is impeccably sourced from the original mono master tapes, the first time the album has been re-released in ultra-honest, bone-crunching mono!1. I See the Light

At Her Majesty's PleasureGentlemans Pistols formed in 2003 as a three piece with initial influences being the classic glam bands, Slade and especially The Sweet and heavy 70s bands such as Deep Purple and Captain Beyond. In 2006, the band released their first 7, Just A Fraction b/w Heavy Petting on the Leeds based Art Goes Pop imprint. Soon after, Rise Above records released another 7 for the band with the tracks, The Lady b/w Creamy Lid which was followed a year later with self-titled debut album. The album was well received by the music press with Classic Rock giving it 8/10 and Metal Hammer scoring it 9/10, saying Put simply, there should be more bands like Gentlemans Pistols around.
At Her Majestys Pleasure was produced by singer/guitarist James Atkinson and represents a labor of love, not to mention copious late nights, equipment malfunctions and frayed nerves. Despite developing a broadened musical palette including the use of strings and supplementary percussion, the recording nonetheless aimed to capture the band as they are in the raw, with little in the way of editing used. Indeed, what you hear on the record is how it was played, warts and all, with much of what is on the record captured within a couple of takes.
The album was recorded at James own Mutiny studios in Bradford, where the band practices. They had completed demos of the LP by the end of 2009 and were looking forward to getting the real thing laid down in the New Year. Come February however, they were all ready to go into the studio. Unfortunately, it seemed to be the coldest it had been in a long time. Due to the studio being in an old mill building, warmth wasn't a luxury we were entitled to, laughs James. Undeterred by this, the band soldiered on.
Despite quite a few issues with keeping the guitars in tune due to the temperature changes between rooms, most of the basic tracks were laid down relatively easily and by the end of Feb, they decided to take a little break before tackling the vocals and overdubs.
The end result is a collection of storming and strutting rock that should have little problem in putting Gentlemans Pistols at the forefront of UK rock n roll.Side 1

All Shook Down is the seventh and final studio album by the band The Replacements, released in 1990. The band, hailing from Minneapolis, started out in 1979, and are considered pioneers of Alternative Rock, influencing a variety of acts along the way. Their influences ranged from The Rolling Stones, The Faces, Slade, Lou Reed and The Beatles to Punk rock bands such as The Ramones, Johnny Thunders, Dead Boys and The Clash.
At the time All Shook Down was released, the band consisted of guitarist and vocalist Paul Westerberg, bass guitarist Tommy Stinson and drummer Chris Mars, added by lead guitarist Slim Dunlap.
