Siamese DreamRanked 360/500 on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.
Originally released in 1993, Siamese Dream is the breakthrough second album from the Smashing Pumpkins and of the the finest to ever come out of the alt-rock movement. Co-produced with Butch Vig and instrumentally recorded almost entirely by bandleader Billy Corgan himself, the guitar-heavy affair generated no less than four hit singles in Cherub Rock, Today, Disarm and Rocket. Built on rich, layered sonics and inherent dynamic tension, Siamese Dream stands alongside Nirvana's Nevermind and Soundgarden's Superunknown as the defining albums of the decade and alt-rock's Mount Rushmore.LP1

The Smashing Pumpkins' career-defining 1995 double album Mellon Collie & The Infinite Sadness has earned Diamond certification by the RIAA for sales of 10,000,000 discs and digital equivalent per disc (5 million copies of the double album). This news comes in the midst of EMI Music's extensive reissue campaign honoring the legacy of the iconic alternative band. It continues December 3 in North America and December 4 internationally with the Pumpkins' fourth album Mellon Collie & The Infinite Sadness receiving the fully remastered treatment for the first time. This follows last year's acclaimed reissues of the band's groundbreaking first two albums, Gish (1991) and Siamese Dream (1993), as well as this past summer's Pisces Iscariot (1994), the band's third album.
Originally released October 24, 1995, Mellon Collie & The Infinite Sadness would debut at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart and was certified 9x platinum by the RIAA. It yielded major hits like ''Bullet With Butterfly Wings''-the band's unlikely first Top 40 hit-the exquisite ''1979'' and epic ''Tonight, Tonight'' as well as a thoroughly inspired series of videos. Produced by BILLY CORGAN, Flood and Alan Moulder, the album would also earn a Grammy Award (1996 Best Hard Rock Performance for ''Bullet With Butterfly Wings'') as well as seven nominations. Beyond the more obvious hits, though, Mellon Collie is a song cycle of unusual depth and considerable range. It is a collection of stunningly beautiful moments when everything lined up--a moment in time that's still here to be treasured.1. Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness

Pisces IscariotPart of an extensive campaign honoring the legacy of the iconic alternative band, the Smashing Pumpkins' 1994 album Pisces Iscariot returns in a vinyl configuration remastered from the original master tapes specifically for the format.
The Smashing Pumpkins have created one of the most acclaimed bodies of work in musical history, selling more than 30 million albums. The pivotal group's many hits defined the alternative music era and continue to resonate on modern rock radio, influencing a whole new generation.
The Smashing Pumpkins are a big rock band, molded by leader Billy Corgan after stadium and progressive rock giants from the 1970s. As such it's only fitting that after only two albums they would release a collection of B-sides. The result, Pisces Iscariot, is not only a good compendium to their other work, but it's a very good record in its own right. Most of the 14 tracks follow the Pumpkins' blueprint, traveling sonically from soft to loud and back again. Among the slew of originals previously available on singles and imports is a hauntingly beautiful cover of Fleetwood Mac's Landslide.1. Soothe

Singles (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) (Deluxe)A Newly Expanded And Remastered Edition In Celebration Of The Film's 25th Anniversary
2xLP Vinyl Package Containing Bonus CD Of Rarities And Unreleased Tracks
Newly Released Bonus CD Features Previously Unreleased Recordings By Chris Cornell, Mike Mccready, Mudhoney, And Paul Westerberg In Addition To Rarities Such As Cornell's 1992 EP Poncier
Includes Liner Notes And A Track-By-Track Description Of The Album's Music Written Especially For This Collection By Cameron Crowe, The Screenwriter And Director Of "Singles"
Epic Soundtrax and Legacy Recordings, the catalog division of Sony Music Entertainment, will celebrate the 25th anniversary of Cameron Crowe's groundbreaking romantic comedy, "Singles," with the release of a newly expanded and remastered edition of the Singles: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack album.
The 2xLP edition features the album's original 13 tracks newly mastered and freshly pressed across four sides of collectible 12 vinyl. The bonus CD of rarities and unreleased tracks is included as a special insert in the 2xLP 12 vinyl package.
The newly released bonus CD features previously unreleased recordings by Chris Cornell, Mike McCready, Mudhoney, and Paul Westerberg in addition to rarities such as Cornell's 1992 EP Poncier (debuting an early rendition of "Spoonman") and tracks from the film not included on the best-selling soundtrack album first released on June 30, 1992. The success of "Singles" helped establish a then-emerging new generation of rock artists-including 2017 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Inductees Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains and Soundgarden-as musical forces to be reckoned with.
The expanded edition of the "Singles" soundtrack includes, for the first time on CD, "Touch Me I'm Dick," the signature track from "Singles" performed by Citizen Dick (a fictional band created for the film featuring frontman Matt Dillon backed by Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder, Stone Gossard and Jeff Ament).
The new Epic Soundtrax/Legacy Recordings edition of the Singles: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack includes liner notes-and a track-by-track description of the album's music-written for especially for this collection by Cameron Crowe, the screenwriter and director of "Singles." The newly expanded edition of the film's soundtrack is produced by Danny Bramson and Cameron Crowe and mastered by Mike Piacentini at Battery Studios, New York.
Set in Seattle at the beginning of the 1990s, Crowe's film featured music by relatively obscure (at that time) bands like Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains and Soundgarden, providing an introduction to an emerging grunge rock music scene for a welcoming mainstream audience. The film became a cult classic while the soundtrack achieved RIAA double platinum status in the US.
A romantic comedy capturing the zeitgeist of an era, "Singles" helped define the look, sound, attitude and style of Generation X with a fresh-faced ensemble cast featuring Bridget Fonda, Campbell Scott, Kyra Sedgwick, Matt Dillon, Bill Pullman, Sheila Kelly, Jim True-Frost, James LeGros, Ally Walker, Jeremy Piven, Eric Stoltz, Tim Burton and more.
Crowe's groundbreaking film chronicling the lives of Seattle's twentysomethings touched a nerve in the culture while the movie's best-selling soundtrack-with tracks from new artists and classic rockers-provided a critical overview of the roots of grunge and the essential contributions of Seattle rock. Alongside new songs like Alice In Chains' "Would?" and Pearl Jam's "Breath" and "State of Love and Trust" stood the Jimi Hendrix Experience's "May This Be Love" and a breathtaking cover of Led Zeppelin's "The Battle of Evermore" performed by The Lovemongers (a musical side project created by Heart's Ann Wilson and Nancy Wilson).
The first edition of the Singles: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack was originally released on June 30, 1992 and became a chart-topping best-seller three months prior to the theatrical release of the film. The soundtrack included music from key bands from the Seattle music scene-including Alice In Chains, Pearl Jam and Soundgarden-while Paul Westerberg, in his first solo recordings outside The Replacements-contributed two songs and provided the score for the film. Smashing Pumpkins were also featured on the soundtrack with the song "Drown."
"The album itself was always designed to be sort of an anti-soundtrack, more like a souvenir and a simple mix-tape of some of Seattle's finest," said Cameron Crowe. "It really is and was a tribute to those hard-working bands that welcomed me to their city with open arms, and the music so many still love so much. Anyway, here we are now revisiting 'Singles,' the film, as well as the soundtrack you hold in your hands, expanded with a special tip of the hat to the fans of the original release. Included are unreleased and raw elements that helped shape the experience of making the movie back in 1991. Hope you enjoy the trip back as much as I did - Viva Seattle!"
25 years ago, the film "Singles" and its soundtrack worked together to bring the underground Seattle music scene to the forefront of mainstream consciousness. The album was among the first top-selling movie soundtracks of the 1990s to showcase new material from emerging contemporary bands. The expanded edition of Singles: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack is cause to celebrate anew the radical rock sounds that radiated out of the American Northwest a quarter century ago and changed pop music forever.LP 1

DioramaAustralian rockers Silverchair released their fourth studio album Diorama in 2002. The follow-up album to Neon Ballroom (1999) was co-produced by Daniel Johns (singer, guitar)and David Bottrill. Diorama marked Johns' first production credit, while Bottril had worked on albums for a variety of other bands (Muse, Tool, The Smashing Pumpkins).
On Diorama Silverchair worked with composer Van Dyke Parks. The album contains various orchestral arrangements and power ballads, which was a change from the post-grunge music typical of their earlier work (Frogstomp and Freak Show), but consistent with the band's previous orchestrations on the album Neon Ballroom. The album includes singles like The Greatest View and Without You. Diorama reached number One on the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) Albums Chart and won five ARIA Awards in 2002.

Monuments To An ElegyMonuments to an Elegy is the upcoming tenth studio album by Smashing Pumpkins.
I'd like to boast and say it's some newly invented form, Corgan wrote. But more than likely it's just a stripped compendium, that in its steeliness achieves some eager, brute modernity. Oh, and apparently there's an epic wizard part, too.
Corgan also revealed that the process of writing and recording Monuments to an Elegy was one of the easiest and most pleasurable albums I've ever made.1. Tiberius

Celebrity SkinThe 4th album of Hole was a huge commercial achievement, successfully bridging the gap between Grunge and guitar Pop. The band revolving around Kurt Cobain's widow Courtney Love carved a niche for themselves as the seminal female fronted Grunge group. Established in 1991, the band functioned as a cathartic outlet for enfant terrible Love, which makes their work incredibly compelling. Their 1998 album Celebrity Skin revealed a polished, energetic sound. Without You I'm NothingWhile Placebo's self-titled debut contained mostly elements of '90s alternative (Smashing Pumpkins, etc.), their
second album, Without You I'm Nothing, is full of '70s glam rock and punk references. Transatlanticism: 10th Anniversary Edition
Reissued For Its 10th Anniversary After Being Out Of Print For Years.
Comes With 12-page Full-color Booklet
As musical lunacy goes, things have gotten as crazy as it gets for Death Cab for Cutie since 2002's You Can Play These Songs with Chords compilation. A wildly successful tour with Dismemberment Plan, a collaboration for singer Ben Gibbard with emo-electronic guru Dntel under the Postal Service moniker, and a whole new legion of fans swooning to Gibbard's lyrics as if he were a modern day answer to Kiss Me-era Robert Smith have all amassed considerable hype around Transatlanticism.
But the group proves themselves more than equal to the task, answering the call and proving the cynics wrong with their most focused and most mature work in their entire catalog. Transatlanticism wastes absolutely no time and dives in head first with The New Year, one of the most melodramatic openings to an album since the Smashing Pumpkins' Tonight, Tonight from Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness. The mellow, mixed-meter percussion and dense atmosphere of Lightness is a brilliant lead into the pop-happy Expo '86 and The Sound of Settling before setting up the climatic and intensely dramatic title track. Unconsciously taking a page from Blur's Sing, the hypnotic drumming and guitar call and responses through the eight-minute climax of the album are backed with a singalong finale that unquestionably will have every audience on the next tour singing along and holding up their lighters.
And while most albums would be left exhausted after such a track, the group keeps things moving, albeit at a much slower pace than compared to the anthems that packed the first half. Gibbard seamlessly makes the transition between songs that full out rock to songs that are comparable to Elliott Smith's finest hour with great ease. But it's Gibbard's poetic lyrics and signature introspection that remain a bench mark for Death Cab; and it's the group's maturity as musicians as well as songwriters that make Transatlanticism such a decadently good listen from start to finish. The band has never sounded more cohesive, the track sequencing is brilliant, and it caps off a triumphant year for not only Gibbard, but a band whose time and greater recognition is finally due.

Hurry Up, We're Dreaming (Colored Vinyl)Pressed On Clear Pink & Clear Blue Vinyl
With these soft spoken words on the simply-titled opening track-"Intro"- M83 mastermind Anthony Gonzalez introduces us to his sixth record and first double disc album, Hurry Up, We're Dreaming.
Dauntlessly singing into the void that was left behind since Saturdays=Youth, Gonzalez suddenly surges with overwhelming emotion as the music mounts an invisible precipice. Historically, he softly eased you into his world, introducing you to the lush and radiant spaces between captivating melodies and intimate lyrics, but not this time. Not on this record.
Graduating from the fuzzy, fumbling emotional cobwebs and draped ambiance of past records, Hurry Up, We're Dreaming careens past its audience. Brazenly stretching out along the horizon, spilling glittery, golden arms of sound across the landscape, it holds your breath hostage without you even noticing you were missing it. If it seemed that Anthony was basking in the sunshine-drenched days of his youth when he released Saturdays in 2008, then it can be said that in 2011, at the age of 30, he is tempestuously charging towards his future with Hurry Up, We're Dreaming.
Relocating to Los Angeles from Antibes, Gonzalez surrounded himself with players pivotal to completing his childhood dream of a double disc record. Producer Justin Meldal-Johnsen (Beck, NIN, The Mars Volta, Goldfrapp) and guitarist Brad Laner (from 90s band Medicine) had been hugely influential on Anthony growing up and now were central to the new record's creation.
"In France there is this show on TV where at the end there is a musical guest who plays one or two songs. I remember one night when I was a teenager being at home watching the best of performances and looking at this crazy bass player with a big afro and thinking, 'Wow this guy is so cool.' "And now I am working with him. It's so intense that thinking about it makes me feel weird. But it's weird in a super good way. Same thing with Brad, I was listening to his music when I was first getting into music and now he's on my album."
Anthony and Justin met backstage in 2009 at Scotland's T In The Park. Later, "he came to me very genuinely stating that 'he was a fan and that he would love to work with me,'" explains Gonzalez. "I love when people do that because I can tell it's coming from the heart. He was sincere and that's the way I like to work with people."
Stepping away from his work with producers Ken Thomas and Ewan Pearson on Saturday, Gonzalez freckles his new chapter with signature M83 fingerprints while pushing himself beyond the constricting emotions of a guarded musician. Bored with being frustrated and shy, Anthony is respectful of the precious time given to him and doesn't want to leave behind any regrets, thus thrusting himself into the spotlight vocally. He tests out different ways of singing, ranging from a spectral breathy whisper to a howling scream, and each voice clings to us like a dew-heavy spider web at dawn.
Fans will recognize band member Morgan Kibby, her vocals flirting with the shadowy places in between verses, leaping off the record in spoken word or blending with an adult choir. Morgan will join Anthony on tour but she was never meant to sing as much on this record as she had on pervious projects. Quenching his desire to work with a different person on each record, Gonzalez added LA-based chanteuse Zola Jesus to the mix for the completion of "Intro." "The song was already written but I really wanted a female vocal on it and I was kind of struggling to find the right person, but then I heard her music and it just made sense."
Where Saturday=Youth is drenched in lustful exploration and hungry adolescent wonder, Hurry Up is decadently cunning and seductive. "Intro" and "My tears are becoming a sea" eerily croon to you, swirling all of the glitter and growth from the past records into an epic swell, mysteriously and dramatically warning you of the impact you are about to experience. "Midnight City" (disc one) and "OK Pal" (disc two) are humid, adrenaline driven dreams unlike anything we have heard from M83 in the past. "Midnight City" adeptly sweeps you through abandoned concrete streets swimming in broken neon light and aggressively pushing and pulsating to synthetic beats. While "OK Pal" catcalls you to a locker full of mapped out Peter Gabriel-esque echoing lyrics, leaving you stranded in a post-apocalyptic landscape. These journeys are about awakening, craving and conquering. Throughout Hurry Up, We're Dreaming Anthony carries the listener to different countries of sound in his own universe, "We didn't need a story, we didn't need a real world. We just had to keep walking and we became the stories- we became the places." Drifting away from his previous records and reigned in politeness he unleashes all that he has been dreaming of and yearning for. Even when he takes a second to look back on "Echoes of Mine" the velvety, elderly voice of a woman heartbreakingly tells the story of a girl drenched in the shadows of her youth, knowing she has to grow up.
Grandiose in scale and inspired by Smashing Pumpkin's revered double disc Melancholy & The Infinite Sadness, Anthony has long had the goal to create his own monumental double disc record. "I saw when I was a teenager that I could dig into it [the album]. It was like a treasure. If I were a teenager nowadays I would try to find something as creative as this album. They had so much to say in their songs."
Impressed with the juxtaposing sun and moon artwork featured on Melancholy, Anthony focuses in on another natural duality: siblings. The cover artwork mirrors this relationship, featuring a photograph of a little boy with a little girl sitting on a bed. The photograph perpetuates the conversation for the two distinct voices we behind each disc, representing two sides of an overall piece that are almost the same. "I want people to listen to it as two different human beings that are connected somehow, but every song on the album has a secret on the other side."
Soaring and scraping up against the sky while sharing each uncharted frontier with new collaborators is what M83 does best. Gracefully coming into the next decade of his life, Anthony delivers what makes each record sincere, innocent, and full of joy: he gives us his past and his future.
"I think it is a reflection of my 30 years of being a human being. It's a compilation of all my previous music together. It's a retrospective of myself."LP 1

Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge1991 will forever be remembered as the year that alternative rock broke through to the masses. It seemed like every other week there was another great new alt-rock album to discover, such as Nirvana's Nevermind, Soundgarden's Badmotorfinger, Primus's Sailing The Seas of Cheese, and the Smashing Pumpkins' Gish, so Mudhoney couldn't have picked a better time to issue their sophomore release. Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge was issued right in the middle of the whole grunge movement, and while it didn't sell in the vast quantities of some other Seattle bands' albums, it did stir up quite a buzz for Mudhoney. Some of the band's finest moments are included here, such as Generation Genocide, Let it Slide, Into the Drink, Who You Drivin' Now? and Fuzzgun '91.1. Generation Genocide

AnthologyAnthology serves as a celebration of The Clean, a band whose influence extends
so far beyond their New Zealand home that even if you have never heard of The
Clean before, you have surely heard of some of the bands (Pavement, Yo La Tengo,
and Superchunk, to name a few) who have been influenced by their unique blend of
homemade garage rock, hook-filled melodies, and psychedelic experimentalism.
The album is a compilation from across The Clean's legendary career, which began in
1981 and continues today. Merge originally released the 2-CD Anthology in 2003, but in
celebration of our 25th anniversary, we felt the time was right to release this essential
collection on quadruple LP.
Anthology kicks off with The Clean's call-to-arms debut "Tally Ho!"; the story of the
infectious track's $60 recording bill is now legendary. It continues with the early EPs
Boodle Boodle Boodle and Great Sounds Great in their entirety. The hits-"Billy Two,"
"Anything Could Happen," "Beatnik," and "Getting Older"-and live favorites like
"Point That Thing Somewhere Else" and instrumentals "Fish" and "At the Bottom"
all serve up memories of the joyous noise that characterized The Clean of that time.
These recordings, mostly made by the band with Chris Knox and Doug Hood at the
helm of the 4-track, capture the bright, raw sound of a classic garage band.
After a brief breakup, the band recorded Vehicle in 1989. Vehicle was made in three days
and engineered by Alan Moulder (Smashing Pumpkins, Nine Inch Nails, My Bloody
Valentine). The sounds of Vehicle and the two albums that followed it, Modern Rock
(1994) and Unknown Country (1996), make up the bulk of discs 3 and 4 of the vinyl
Anthology. In addition to selections from these full-length recordings, Anthology includes
two songs released only on an American 7-inch and two that appeared on a bonus
flexi-disc with the Modern Rock LP.LP 1

OVSE-MOV-990xGrant Lee Buffalo
Fuzzy"The best album of the year hands down" (R.E.M.'s Michael Stipe, 1993)
Grant Lee Buffalo is an Americana/indie Rock band based in Los Angeles, consisting of Grant Lee Phillips (vocals and guitar), Paul Kimble (bass) and Joey Peters (drums). All three were previously members of another Los Angeles band, Shiva Burlesque. They toured with major bands, including R.E.M., Pearl Jam, the Smashing Pumpkins and The Cranberries.
Their 1993 debut Fuzzy was a condent and solidly crafted piece of work, with Phillips' marvelous voice, ne and evocative songs. Fuzzy is deep and mysterious stuff, but also very beautiful and crafted with imagination and care. It's no wonder Grant Lee Buffalo became critic's darlings shortly after this was released. JarDaylight spent the past few years honing their grunge buzzing, and desperate sad sound across four EP's, showcasing and perfecting a talent for writing both jarringly heavy and delicately emotional songs. With high-anticipation, the Pennsylvania four-piece deliver JAR, their debut full-length. Engineer & producer Will Yip's massive production knocks you on your ass from the very first drum hit and snarling guitar riff. The stadium-sound drums, plus pulsing bass and walls of buzzsaw guitars are all mixed with the size and clarity of major label grunge breakthrough records like Nirvana's Nevermind and Smashing Pumpkins' Siamese Dream. Daylight have delivered a towering rock record and an early contender for album of the year.
After a string of EPs throughout the past six years, Daylight's debut LP makes good on all the hype that's surrounded the band of late, with 12 tracks produced by Will Yip (Title Fight, Man Overboard) that push the recording's boundaries past any sense of genre one might apply. In terms of aesthetic (rather than specific tone), it reminds of the grungy, '90s-inspired post-hardcore of Pennsylvania brethren Title Fight's 2012 stunner Floral Green, or Colourmeinkindness by labelmates Basement; similar to those albums, Jar fuses a wide range of influences from Nirvana and Foo Fighters to Cave In and Seaweed into a seamless, spatial organic mush, for a thrillingly unpredictable and compelling listen.4/5 - Altpress.com1.
