His recording of When The Gates Swing Open was a hit in the mid-80's and is included on The Gospel Truth cd released on Blind Pig Records. Both When The Gates Swing Open and The Gospel Truth remain staples on gospel radio today. As a singer and producer, Otis Clay remains very active in gospel. Walk A Mile In My Shoes, a new cd featuring Otis' version of this classic song has been released on his own Echo Records label.

Clay launched and established his career as a deep soul singer with his first recordings made in the mid-60s for George Leaner's One-derful label in Chicago. A series of hit singles including Trying To Live My Life Without You produced by Willie Mitchell in Memphis for Hi Records followed in the '70's. Otis has also recorded for the Cotillion, Kayvette, Elka and Rounder labels as well as his own Echo Records. The intensity and passion of his live shows are captured on Soul Man: Live in Japan (Rounder) and Respect Yourself (Blind Pig) recorded live at The Lucerne Blues Festival in Switzerland.

A long time resident of Chicago's West Side, Otis Clay is actively involved as a board member of People For New Direction, a community-based non-profit creating economic initiatives to address a number of issues on the West Side. People For New Direction consists of West Side businessmen and women, doctors, ministers and others who believe strongly in giving something back to the community where they live and work.

As Chairman of The Board of the non-profit Tobacco Road, Inc. (TRI, Inc.), Otis was heavily involved in the extensive planning, fundraising and development of The Harold Washington Cultural Center at 47th and King Drive which has served as the cornerstone for the revitalization and redevelopment of the historic Bronzeville neighborhood. Let Freedom Ring

    Remastered

Prophet started his wild ride back in 1984, when Green on Red, the
seminal purveyors of American Rock-Roots, plucked him out of
Berkeley, CA and threw him in the van for an eight-year ride, and the
recording of as many albums. Since then Prophet has recorded nine
amazing solo albums and toured and recorded with the likes of
Lucinda Williams, Aimee Mann, Cake, and Jonathan Richman, not to
mention production credits for Warren Zevon, Alejandro Escovedo
and Kelly Willis. Ryan Adams, Solomon Burke and Heart have
recorded his songs, along with a host of others. Prophet has never
been one to rest on his laurels and ride it out.
For his ninth solo album Let Freedom Ring, Chuck reached out to
some musicians and talked them into going down to Mexico City, The
Biggest City in the World (pop. 25 million). Recorded at Estudio 19, a
state-ofthe- art studio (well, circa 1958 state-of-the-art anyway) with
Greg Leisz (Beck, Wilco, Emmylou Harris) coproducing.
Within three days of arriving swine flu broke out and the indignity of
having to wear blue surgical masks just to fit in.
Over the course of the next eight days, the band set about recording
¡Let Freedom Ring!, enduring a poorly timed blackout, shakedowns
by the Policia, and a 6.4 earthquake mid-take - Mexico City might only
be 4 hours away by plane but it might as well have been on the other
side of the moon. But whilst mayhem ensued, the band buckled down
to the task in hand, all set up together in a tight little bamboo lined
room with the amps cranked. Chuck played his Fender Squire, Kelly
Stoltz on backing vocals, Rusty Miller (Jason Lyte‟s band) played
bass while Drummer Ernest Boom Carter turned his sticks into
kindling. Carter played on Springsteen‟s Born To Run - he promptly
quit the E Street Band after they spent 6 months recording it. The
results can be heard from the Clash inspired opener to the power pop
of Let Freedom Ring‟ and the Eddie Cochran infused Good Time
    Crowd‟.

Features Eddie Hawrsh (The Black Crowes) On Bass.

Originally released in 2001, the Detroit Cobras Life, Love and Leaving is the group's best-known effort, coming at a time when bands like the White Stripes and Dirtbombs were also releasing seminal albums that started picking up recognition outside of their collective hometown of Detroit. Hitting hard with songs by soul heavyweights like Solomon Burke (''Stupidity''), Mary Wells (''Bye Bye Baby''), Otis Redding (''Shout Bamalama''), the inimitable vocals of Rachel Nagy would no-doubt be a template from which folks like Amy Winehouse would work from years later. A landmark collection of covers.

    Hold On Tight

Limited Pressing Of 500 Individually Numbered Copies On 180 Gram Yellow Vinyl

On October 10, 2010, Solomon Burke passed away at Amsterdam Schiphol airport on his way to perform a gig with his Dutch collaborators De Dijk. What was supposed to be a release party for their album Hold On Tight then became a celebration of the life of the one true King of Rock 'n Soul.

De Dijk, heroes of the Dutch music scene, and Solomon met and shared the stage while on tour in 2007, and they came up with the idea to record an album together. King Solomon was true to his word; De Dijk adapted a number of songs from their back catalogue for Solomon to sing, and they dove into the studio for what sadly turned out to be Solomon's last album.

De Dijk's bluesy spin on soulful hard rock turned out to be a sweet musical match with Burke's powerful vocals, Hold On Tight is one of the truest Rock & Roll projects he worked on. As allmusic.com puts it: 'an impressive finale to a genuinely remarkable career'. The album features a contribution of Jools Holland on piano on What A Woman.

Additional guests include Bill Frisell, Al Anderson (NRBQ), Ireland's Paul Brady and Maia Sharp.

The album's 12-tracks feature Raitt's renditions of songs by such luminaries as Bob Dylan, Joe Henry and Loudon Wainwright III. An updated, reggae-fied version of Gerry Rafferty's Right Down the Line leads the charge here as the album's first single.

    The Blues Brothers Original Soundtrack

    180 Gram Audiophile Vinyl

    Original 1980 Soundtrack

First Pressing Of 2000 Numbered Copies On Blue Vinyl

Comic actors John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd rightfully get credit for exposing many people to the music of Blues and R&B veterans. The soundtrack to their hugely successful musical comedy Blues Brothers was released on June 20, 1980 as the second album by the Blues Brothers Band, which also toured that year to promote the film.

The rollicking remake of the Spencer Davis Group's Gimme Some Lovin' was a Billboard Top 20 hit, featuring an arrangement notable for the horn section that replaces Steve Winwood's rumbling organ work. Ray Charles has a good time with Shake a Tail Feather, and he's helped out by Jake and Elwood Blues (Belushi and Aykroyd, respectively). The cover of Solomon Burke's Everybody Needs Somebody to Love is a lot of fun, thanks to the great overall rhythm and Elwood's lightning-fast stage rap, while James Brown and the Reverend James Cleveland Choir provide a blast of gospel music on Old Landmark. Aretha Franklin's Think is explosive, and Cab Calloway's Minnie the Moocher is slyly irresistible.

The Blues Brothers Original Soundtrack (Colored Vinyl)

Limited Edition 180 Gram Audiophile Translucent Blue Vinyl

Solomon Burke helped to shape the sound of rhythm and blues as one of
the founding fathers of soul music. He had a litany of hit singles in the
1960s for Atlantic Records including "Cry to Me," "If You Need Me," "Down
in the Valley," and "Everybody Needs Somebody to Love," to name a few.
Atlantic Records' co-founder Jerry Wexler has referred to Burke as "the
greatest male soul singer of all time" and it was reported that he signed a
"handshake" deal with the label within ten minutes of originally entering
Wexler's office. His signing helped to reinvigorate the label, as stars Bobby
Darin and Ray Charles had just left.

Drawing inspiration from gospel, jazz, country and blues-Burke developed
his own unique style and was often called "The King of Rock 'n' Soul"
earning him a wide bi-racial audience. Due to his spiritual background he
refused to be classified as an R&B singer because of its labeled stigma
by the church. During his almost six decades of performing, he released
    38 studio albums-selling at total 17 million-and had 35 charting singles
including 26 that made the Billboard R&B charts.

In 2001, he was inducted into the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame as a performer
and has been ranked by Rolling Stone on their list of "100 Greatest
Singers of All Time." Burke is one of the most important male vocalists in
music history and has influenced legendary rockers such as the Rolling
Stones, Elvis Costello, Van Morrison, the Animals and Tom Petty
