"Whole generations of basement-tape shenanigans are baked into their lurching, overdriven sound, alternatingly stripped-down and blown-out" - SPIN

Take the 101 north out of Los Angeles, and you'll pass by Agoura Hills, where the core duo of
the band Dub Thompson grew up. Whatever you see in that town won't readily prepare you for
the music they wrote while there, but you're free to look.

"Most everyone who's in a group who's our age lives on the Internet," says guitarist Matt Pulos.
"The kinds of thingsthat have shaped our band aren't anchored to any one time or place."

Pulos and his bandmate, drummer Evan Laffer, are currently both 19 years old, and are putting
that line of thought to the test; their musical influences travel from the Midwestern malaise of
Big Black and Pere Ubu, to Kraut pioneers Can and Kraftwerk, while bowing to the British
belligerence of The Fall and This Heat.

Recording the album while living with Foxygen's Jonathan Rado at his rented house in
Bloomington, the band had its first taste of a heavy Indiana summer, and all the humidity and
insect life that buzzes along with it. "We woke up every day, ate hard-boiled eggs and stood on
a porch," says Pulos of the experience.

Their first collection of songs slyly unties the shoes of genre and convention, shape shifts
mischievously, and tramples on the promises delivered on the name itself.
There are only eight songs on this rangy debut.

Intense blasts of hook-filled noise rock ("Hayward!"), rock steady marionette stomp ("No
Time"), hypnotic bouts of doomy poetics ("Epicondyles"), outlandishly sexy groove rock
("Dograces"), and a number of other bite-sized forays into parts unknown are made manifest
    across 9 Songs.

The vibes are strong here. Pulos sings and plays like he's working out long-standing grudges,
pulling the most sinewy tones from an acoustic guitar and ripping huge chunks of demon flesh
out of his electric. Laffer matches him step for step on the drums, an exacting presence behind
the kit who pushes even the band's more placid moments into bouts of tension. Together they
succeed in animating their musical ideas to startling, almost unnatural life. Reverb units,
keyboards, samples and processing gluing everything together, saturated in the August heat and
worn in until they sound second nature, it's like somehow you've been listening to these songs
    forever.

    Space Songs

    Red Colored Vinyl

The first ever vinyl reissue of an extraordinarily-unique space-age educational LP. Includes the oft-covered "A Shooting Star Is Not A Star" and "Why Does The Sun Shine?" Featuring Leo Leonni cover art and taken from the original atomic-era 1959 master tapes. Written by Hy Zaret and sung by Tom Glazer & Dottie Evans. Space Songs stands alone as the most essential volume in a series that also featured songs about energy and motion, experiments, weather, and nature. Space Songs contains "Why Does the Sun Shine (aka "The Sun Is a Mass of Incandescent Gas") and "A Shooting Star Is Not a Star" which were more recently popularized by They Might Be Giants.

    Songs For Rounders

The late 50s. A time of crushing conformity. Of well-manicured lawns, white picket fences, and men in grey flannel suits. Not in Hank Thompsons world. With its tales of drunkenness, prostitution , drug abuse, gambling and vagrancynot to mention one of the most notorious album covers in the history not just of country music, but of all popular musicThompsons 1959 LP Songs for Rounders remains one of countrys most essential albums. It all started
when Thompson brought Ken Nelson, Capitols head of country A&R at the time, a song he often featured in his live performances called Cocaine Blues. Nelson told him there was no way the song would ever get any airplay as a single, but suggested it might work as part of an album concept.
Thompson then proceeded to round up a collection of tunes taken from every walk of American popular song and every walk of American lifelike the walk taken in Dallas red light district in Deep Elm. The spirit of the album even extended to the photo shoot. After the cover shots were taken in the morning, Thompson spent the rest of the day in the studio recording. He then went down the street to a bar and found one of the women who had posed with him. She had been drinking since the shoot had ended. She didnt even remember him. This Real Gone vinyl reissue offers the optimum way to experience this landmark album. Remastered by Maria Triana at Battery Studios in New York, cut by Peter Black at FM Mastering, and and manufactured on 160-gram vinyl at Bill Smith Custom Records, this release features the stereo mix of Songs for Rounders, as this record was not only Hanks first stereo recording but also one of the earliest country albums to be released in stereo (just wait til you hear some of those sparkling Merle Travis leads)!

And, we have included an album-size insert with a full-color reproduction of the album cover suitable for framing on one side and notes from Grammy®-winning liner note writer Colin Escott on the other. Essential American music released in its original format, with improved packaging to boot.

    Songs In A&E

Who would have thought that Jason Pierce's Spiritualized would have had any life in them after the rather uninspiring Amazing Grace in 2003? In the intervening five years, Pierce nearly died from double pneumonia. Near death experiences by their very nature are life-changing events. The music on Songs in A&E were recorded in that aftermath, but most of the album was written two years before he got sick; with so much of it about near death and survival, it feels like life imitating art. From the first notes of Sweet Talk, it's obvious that a very different Spiritualized is up and about; an acoustic guitar, a sparse drum kit, the voice quartet, a few horns, and a minimal bassline fuel it. Pierce sweetly croons to a loved one in waltz time; his words are
simultaneously appeasing and accusatory. The gospel chorus isn't as overblown as it was on Amazing Grace or Let It Come Down. They are in a support role, offering Pierce's reedy voice a fullness and authority it wouldn't have otherwise. The arrangement is lilting but powerful. How strange, then, the sounds of a ventilator that usher in the next track Death Take Your Fiddle: I think I'll drink myself into a coma/And I'll take every way out I can find/But morphine, codeine, Whisky, they won't alter/The way I feel/Now death is not around...Death take your fiddle/And play a song for me. Minor-key acoustic
guitar and ghostly bass frame Pierce singing a mutant folk-blues that evokes Gary Davis' Death Don't Have No Mercy. The backing vocals float
wordlessly like death angels, hovering around the vocalist and giving the tune an otherworldly quality.

But this isn't a song about dying; it's a song about coming close and cheating it; it's eerie. The proof? The next two tracks: I Gotta Fire, and Soul on
Fire. The former is a taut, Gimme Shelter-esque rocker, the latter, a lush, uptempo love song. Sitting on Fire is a beautifully orchestrated love song:
it's an admission of weakness and codependency but celebrates both of them at the same time: Baby, I'm sitting on fire/but the flames put a hole in my
heart/when we're together we stand so tall/But a part of me falls to the floor/Sets me free /I do believe it'll burn up in me for the rest of my life. Strings,
vibes, marimbas, and drums crash in to the center of the mix carrying the protagonist into oblivion. Yeah, Yeah is a scorching rocker that feels like the
Bad Seeds meeting the old Spacemen 3. You Lie You Cheat, crashes in Velvets style with acoustic guitar and screeching feedback. The chorus sings
atop a flailing drum kit, distorted strings, and wailing electric guitar. The marimbas and strings that power Baby, I'm Just a Fool, sweetly underscore a
very dark pop song, complete with da-do-da-do-dat det-det-do's. It descends into beautifully textured chaos led by a loopy violin solo over seven
minutes. Songs in A&E is the most consistent recording Spiritualized has issued since 1997's Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating in Space. It
contains the best elements of the band's signature sound, and paradoxically hedonistic yet utterly spiritual lyric themes. That said, newly focused energy,
willfully restrained arrangements, and taut compositions give the set a sheer emotional power that no Spiritualized recording has ever displayed before,
making it, quite possibly, their finest outing yet.

    Loud City Song

Double LP Comes With Printed 7"x7" Accordion Fold Out Featuring Album Lyrics And Handdrawn Illustrations

Loud City Song is the new studio recording by Los Angeles based artist Julia Holter. The album is Holter's third full length release in as many years - following 2011's groundbreaking debut Tragedy and last year's follow-up, the critically lauded Ekstasis.

Loud City Song is both a continuation and a furthering of the fiercely singular and focused vision displayed by its predecessors; taking as it does Holter's rare gift for merging high concept,
compositional prowess and experimentation with pop sensibility and applying it to a set of even more
daringly beautiful arrangements and emotionally resonant songs.

The songs that make up Loud City Song have origins that pre-date 2011's debut Tragedy - coaxed out and finessed as demos in Holter's bedroom studio and then finally coalesced into one thrillingly cohesive experience in the latter stages of 2012 by Holter and co-producer Cole Marsden Grief-Neill and an ensemble of Los Angeles musicians. The result is an album of enormous ambition - Holter taking inspiration from Collette's 1944 novella Gigi and using it as a prism through which to explore her
relationship with her hometown of Los Angeles and modern life universally, taking cues from the work of Joni Mitchell and the poetry of Frank O'Hara but forging those touch-points into something resolutely
    unique.

    Sirens Of Song

A purveyor and survivor of Britpop (with band Squeeze), solo artist, author, and television presenter, Jools Holland is prominent as one of British music's most recognized and trustworthy.

A couple of years back, Holland's talent for composition was refreshed with 2012's The Golden Age Of Song, a star-studded effort. Holland must have had the itch to repeat that highly successful and pleasant experience, only this time around he's kept it between him and the ladies. What emerges is 14 tracks of originals and reworked gems starring some of the best female voices in the business.

What Holland nails here are his choices of leading ladies for each track, which offer so much in the way of delightfully surprising and sublime covers. Jamaican songstress Ruby Turner sasses up Ray Charles' Jumpin' In The Morning, our own pop princess Kylie Minogue puts her pout to The Clash's Should I Stay Or Should I Go, and Emeli SandÉ admirably takes on 1920s standard Love Me Or Leave Me. Among the standouts, though, are Louise Marshall's A Vow, a poem by one of Holland's favourite English poets, Wendy Cope; Joss Stone's soulful attack in Letting Me Down; and the playful ska in Monkey Man, brought to life by the late, great Amy Winehouse.

Holland's orchestra never falters, nor do the man's fingers on the ivories, and running throughout is a vibrant sense of celebration for not only these skilfull lasses but for the sheer act of making music with many different talents.

    World Boogie Is Coming

North Mississippi Allstars have announced the release of their record, World Boogie Is Coming. They produced it themselves at their own Zebra Ranch Studios in Hernando, MS, aside from a day in the studio with Robert Plant (and his harmonica) at Memphis' legendary Royal Studios. The Dickinson Brothers did it with the help of long-time friends Duwayne and Garry Burnside, Kenny Brown, Alvin Youngblood, Sharde Thomas (Otha Turner's granddaughter), Chris Chew, Steve Selvidge, Lightnin Malcolm, Plant and others. World Boogie Is Coming is the record that perfectly ties it all together, fusing all the elements that have made the Allstars special while pushing the band's sound further into the future than ever before.

Luther Dickinson says, "It all started when Seasick Steve told me: 'You are the one, you are the link, you have to keep it primitive and take it to the people.'" He continues, "I feel like I owe it the elders who taught me the traditional music in which I operate to let the music evolve and allow outside modern influences into the tradition to keep it alive and healthy. I realized that I had not been holding up my end of the deal. Since I am virtually devoid of modern influences, I turned to my brother Cody, who is my opposite in taste and style and loves modern music and production. Allowing Cody to produce the tracking sessions allowed me to sing and play wild and with abandon. Our contrasting styles are the heart of NMA."

Cody has discovered a love of filmmaking and knows that in this day and age you need multi media. He set out to use our landscape of modern day Mississippi and roadwork experiences to share with the audience a vision, a dreamscape of our world. We wanted the World Boogie Is Coming package to have as much visual content as possible, with the record itself being sonically cinematic, a montage of medleys similar to our live shows - the recording fell together beautifully with that intent. We set ambient microphones up around the whole studio - footsteps, rain, wind, talking, bugs and birds all played their part. Archival tapes of Otha and R.L. fell right into the pocket as soon as we transferred them, laughing, joking and jamming with their kids -transcending time and space, life and death."

"'World boogie is coming' was my father's favorite valediction," says Cody. "Naming this record after his closing phrase seemed like a great way to honor him and his memory. World boogie is coming is also a rallying cry. And the cry is this: It's time to boogie!"

This record represents two years of our collective lives," he continues. "Luther, myself and our crew touring the world and doing what we do best: Bringing our music straight to the people. World Boogie Is Coming documents that journey and narrative. The story tells itself. We set out to make a definitive and decisive record. It turned into the experience of a lifetime; our magnum opus. It is cinematic by design and infectious by nature, so sit back, relax and enjoy. Let's get large and have a good time."

    Whiskey For The Holy Ghost

Whiskey for the Holy Ghost is the second solo album from Lanegan, and it was released January 18th, 1994. It builds upon the roots-music foundation Lanegan established with his debut The Winding Sheet. Released during the grunge explosion of the early 1990s, Whiskey for the Holy Ghost showcases Lanegan's growing maturity as a songwriter and vocalist. Lyrically, Lanegan continues to delve into the darker side of the human experience on songs like "Borracho" and the biblical "Pendulum." "House a Home" was released as a single with an accompanying video. Dan Peters of Mudhoney guests on the album, playing drums on the songs "Borracho" and "House a Home."

    Manhattan

When it came time to record their Warner Bros. debut, the band looked directly to its hometown for inspiration. MANHATTAN is more than an album -it's a statement of purpose and a portrait of life in New York City. We were all bartenders, so the songs are tales of experiences we had or saw, and other people who were characters in our life during the first year we were in this band, Cummings says. (And for the record, SKATERS chose their band name because it captures their young and fearless attitude.

The album kicks off with subway noises, Because that's the sound of our lives, Cummings says. The disc was even recorded by John Hill (Santigold, Wavves) in the API room at Greenwich Village's iconic Electric Lady Studios, named after its one-of-a-kind board.

MANHATTAN features other little pieces of the city, too, in the form of sounds and conversations Hubbard nabbed on an old-school handheld tape recorder. There's a cab ride in there, there's kids yelling in Brooklyn, girls talking in a cafÉ, Rubin says. It's like a book of short stories, Cummings adds, deadpanning, It's Salinger's Nine Stories but it's Eleven Stories by SKATERS. And the writing is much better.

    Body Questions

Seth Kauffman is Floating Action. Hailing from the small town of Black Mountain, NC Kauffman channels the collective creative energy that has been birthed and transferred between the mountains of the Swannanoa Valley. For his 6th proper studio album Kauffman holed up in his own tiny studio and took from his experiences working with luminaries such as Dan Auerbach and Jim James and built upon them to further challenge his own style and sound by creating his most advanced work to date. Body Questions is a personal testament of the Floating Action vision, it is growth that challenges and exhilarates the sensory experience constructed in the form of extraordinary pop songs.

    Lenses

Soft Metals' Lenses is a continuation of their
ethos aiming directly at your body and subconscious mind with an intimacy that only lovers can bring.

The song "Lenses" describes the experience of shifted consciousness with the lyrics "breaking through my perception of you, breaking through my concept of life". It celebrates the feeling of escape from a mind imprisoned with lack of presence and stuck in habit all set to an earnest beat and lush enigmatic melodies that entwine and seduce. "Tell Me", "No Turning Back", When I Look Into Your Eyes" expresses that nervous, vulnerable feeling of falling for someone, but questioning the reality of the situation asking "Is this love true? Or are we just lost in lust?", "when you said you loved me, I laid my whole life down", "When I look into your eyes, I wonder if we'll meld". "In the Air", perhaps the most movement inspiring track of the album, is a dense, pulsating piece about the power of nature, the effects of seasonal changes on all living things that rule over sexuality, productivity, and inspiration- the basis of man's various forms of mysticism.

    Honest To Goodness

Honest to Goodness is the solo work of Chad Stocker. He currently lives in Detroit and plays in the rock band The High Strung. The recordings he does under this moniker represent the many other musical sides of his personality. These songs are more textural, folk-drone experiments. Slowly expanding background textures boil over their scientist's aural beakers and spill electricity all over the gallery walls. Recorded live as he played through an ouroboros of patches, cables and the world's greatest amplifier. Limited to 300 copies on blue/orange swirl vinyl.

    Everybody's a Good Dog

Unlike the production limitations that defined the sound of Diane Coffee's debut My Friend Fish (recording drums on an iPhone, using a detuned guitar in lieu of a bass, etc) Everybody's a Good Dog was recorded in proper studios with an assortment of guest appearances, horns, and a string ensemble, finally bringing to life Fleming's deep well of talent and ideas. The album covers a lot of ground from sweet acapella harmonies, to bursts of big brass and Motown swagger, to unhinged psychedelic mayhem. The album's unstoppable grooves and melodies were written with live performance in mind. I like performing more than recording. It's like throwing a mini party each night that goes really well. says Fleming. When you hear him pouring every bit of his two decades of experience as a performer into these songs, it's clear that Diane Coffee is not a side project, it's THE project Fleming has been working towards his whole life.

    Stills Lit Through

Stills Lit Through offers the first comprehensive body of work from
    musician and visual artist Tallesen.

Hailing from the Hudson Valley of New York, Tallesen - born
Cayman Johnson - describes Stills as a response to the
"continuous flexibility of the physical setting by the additive of
sound." A reference to his joyful erasure of the distinction
    between music and experience.

The twelve songs of Stills Lit Through conjure an eidolon of
melodies painted with watercolor brushstrokes both calm
("Glenticast") and frenetic ("Emmel"). To our ears, this closely
characterizes Johnson's work as a visual artist.

The collection when taken as a whole is wonderfully consistent.
We hear echoes of Autechre's corporeal maneuvers (bass as lead
voice, plasticity of foreground vs. background), but, if you dig out
the provenance of Johnson's nom de plume, you really start to
understand how the melodic through-lines of the record operate
    on a more illustrative level.

What appears to you as a macro-level core 'feeling' about the
record is illusively varied, consisting of insanely lush song nodes
that subtly and endlessly rotate and shift. It is a music that is both
ultra beautiful (Strike Silver, Love Green) and invested in a core
belief dealing with the materiality of musical sound itself
(Plasticized Fsa). It's not the house in which melodies are stored,
it's the crypt of inspiration from which melodies emerge.

Rhythmically, Stills encourages ephemera towards the creation of
a seductively creaky, silvery universe with an unreliable sense of
gravity. The result is hallucinatory in that the album
comprehensively experiences like volumes among volumes of
things change, but in half-speed. "The music is saturated with
information for it to remain flexible to its surroundings," describes
Cayman, an ode to feeling "ambiance with a modern degree of
    attention."

Thus we enter the world of Stills Lit Through, a comprehensive
portrait of young Cayman Johnson's enigmatic, sensual world-building music.

    Lesser Evil

Doldrums first full length, Lesser Evil, comes after many years of smaller EPs, performance, and video art. Airick Woodhead, deeply entrenched in the Montreal and Toronto DIY scenes, has been a longtime friend and collaborator of Arbutus. Woodhead is "immune to technology"; the singer, producer, multi instrumentalist certainly uses technology hard enough that it breaks down completely; the cover art for Lesser Evil is simply a photograph of his broken Laptop screen. The album features warped short-looped samples, which congeal with drum parts and Woodhead's distinct falsetto, creating a live energy that is experiential, raw and solitary.

The live show takes these songs and sets them with percussion - often with two or more live drummers on stage. The songs on Lesser Evil shift with the energy of experience, a notion that plays strongly on Doldrums entire aesthetic - exploring the disorienting, exotic and truly compelling experimental realm of Airick Woodhead.

    Light You Up

Grammy nominated singer/songwriter Shawn Mullins returns with his eleventh studio release, Light You Up. Produced by Mullins and drummer Gerry Hansen, the album marks a newfound level of musical and lyrical expression for the veteran artist.

Shawn Mullins has undergone a series of transformative experiences leading to this captivating new song cycle. His experiences included delving into the collaborative creative process by intensive co-writing, and in one instance putting him atop of the country charts via a key contribution to the Zac Brown Bands Toes, marking his fourth #1 single (and first purely as a co-writer), following 1999s Lullaby and the 2006 Triple A/Americana chart-topper Beautiful Wreck. Further co-writing yielded nine of the 11 songs on Light You Up, which Mullins believes represents the strongest, most expressive writing of his distinguished career.

    Another Side Of Bob Dylan

Dylans Second 1964 Album Expands Songwriting Themes and Adds Levity

Wider Grooves, Superior Sound: Mobile Fidelitys 45RPM Edition The Last Word in Analog Fidelity

Recorded in One Day: Whimsical Feel, Surrealist Lyrics, On-the-Fly Fluidness Grace the Bards Loosest 1960s Effort

The Freewheelin Bob Dylan, Bringing It All Back Home, Blonde on Blonde, Blood on the Tracks, and The Basement Tapes Also Available from Mobile Fidelity

The ever-evasive Bob Dylan never explicitly stated exactly what represented the another side of himself referenced in the title to his second 1964 record. Yet the whimsical moods, hallucinogenic prose, humorous angles, transparent mistakes, and noncommittal themes give a pretty clear idea at what the Bard hinted as he emerged from being labeled as a reluctant generation spokesperson and folk savior after releasing two highly intellectual, socially pioneering sets replete with protest songs. Dylan needed to take a breath, step back from the drama, and reevaluate his surroundings. Another Side of Bob Dylan is all that and more.

As part of its Bob Dylan catalog restoration series, Mobile Fidelity is thoroughly humbled to have the privilege of mastering the iconic LP from the original master tapes and pressing it on 45RPM LPs at RTI. The end result is the very finest, most transparent analog stereo edition of Another Side of Bob Dylan ever produced. Be there as the Minnesota native spends the evening of June 9, 1964 in Columbias Studio A and, displaying an openness hed never before revealed in a formal environment, lays down the songs that compromise his fourth album.

Featuring minimal editing, Another Side of Bob Dylan is naked, truthful, and whimsical. Mobile Fidelitys reissue illuminates the artists conditionhe laughs in the midst of songs, experiences a few false starts, hits a couple of bum notes, occasionally sings as if hes stumbling down a Manhattan sidewalk after having one too many at a smoky pub, prizes rawness over perfectionwith microscopic accuracy. Indeed, Dylans slightly woozy and completely playful state related to his having downed a handful of bottles of Beaujolais during the sessions.

The uninhibited joie de vive is discernable in the rattling piano lines on Black Crow Blues, seemingly subconscious ramble of the hysterical folk rhyming of Motorpsycho Nightmare, bluesy dream sequencing throughout I Dont Believe You, and intentionally out-of-tune yodeling during All I Really Want to Do. On a majority of the prized set, Dylan lets his guard down, but does so in clever manners that speak to his surrealist imagination and biting wit. He possesses the rare ability to make planned strategies appear spontaneous, to challenge audiences with stinting wordplay and minimalist melodies that provide a deceptive false security.

And so the apparently autobiographical and self-aware My Back Pages, one of the earliest examples of Dylans immersion into symbolist prose and abstract metaphor, remains controversial for its on-the-surface denouncement of his earlier condemnations of social institutions and injustices. Peeled back, the tune is a brilliant releasean essential escape hatch for Dylan to both relieve himself of unneeded pressures and distance himself from pundits. As an indelible piece of art, it succeeds in masquerading obvious meaning while simultaneously forcing listeners to question their own actions. Quintessential Dylan.

As is the trifecta of relationship-themed compositions that closes the record, as well as the eternal Chimes of Freedom, the standard that journalist Paul Williams dubbed Dylans Sermon on the Mount. Its inseparable conjunction of apocalyptic imagery, personal emotion, allusive lyricism, balladic alliteration, and inclusive sympathy signaled that, having already eviscerated the rules associated with pop and folk music, Dylan had just begun his assault on our consciousness, making Another Side of Bob Dylan that much more mysterious, unequivocal, and requisite.

Given the sonic and artistic merit of this album, we anticipate huge demand.

    When I Was Younger

Colony House, a trio from Nashville, TN will release their first full-length album When I Was Younger via Descendant Records (The Lone Bellow) in 2014.

Silhouettes is quite an interesting song and serves a very specific purpose on this record, says lead singer and songwriter Caleb Chapman. For an album that has a fair amount of emotional twists and turns, this track is meant to be a constant. Silhouettes is a steady reminder for the soul not to allow the dark moments in life to overshadow all the beautiful ones we live every day.

Colony House delivers the material with a balance of craft and immediacy that deliver a rich, gritty rock edge with heavy guitars and textual layers.

Lead singer, guitarist and principal songwriter Caleb Chapman writes effortlessly infectious tunes that resonate with personal experience and emotional depth. The songs' messages of hope and perseverance are matched by the organic musical rapport of Caleb and his bandmates, brother Will Chapman on drums and Scott Mills on lead guitar and harmony vocals.

Creating this record had such a strong set of contrasting emotions: joy, hope, frustration, sorrow, uncertainty, confidence, says Caleb.

That openhearted attitude is reflected throughout When I Was Younger, both in Caleb's expressive vocals and in the band's vivid performances of such personally-charged tunes as Silhouettes, Second Guessing Games, Keep On Keeping On, Waiting for My Time to Come and Won't Give Up.
