    Big Moon Ritual (On Sale)

In 2011, after more than 20 years of intense gigging and recording, Chris Robinson set off to shape something new, a fresh rock mythology, a breathing kaleidoscopic entity stuffed with chooglin soul, bedrock boogie and shuffling wisdom birthed in intimate clubs and amongst the tall trees of the Golden State and eventually taken nationwide as the Chris Robinson Brotherhood.

What began as an experiment without expectations turned into a 118-show journey for Robinson (lead vocals/guitar), Neal Casal (guitar/vocals), Adam MacDougall (keys/vocals), George Sluppick (drums) and Mark Dutton (bass/vocals) that surprised these seasoned pros as music of unshakable solidity and exuberant reach poured out of them, a New Cosmic California sound with tendrils reaching to the original Fillmore West, Topanga Canyon and outwards towards far horizons.

The music of the Chris Robinson Brotherhood finds its fruition on their debut studio album Big Moon Ritual due out on Silver Arrow/Megaforce Records, to be followed by companion album The Magic Door.

"This music is unashamedly what we're into," says Robinson. "It's not a psych band because you have a Prince Valiant haircut and wear Beatle boots. It's psych because that's where our heads are. We want to make music that blossoms. We want to make music that sounds cosmic."

    Silver Kobalt

In between work for Björk, The Cinematic Orchestra and Anoushka Shankar, the prodigious Hang player and percussionist Manu Delago has inked a deal with Tru Thoughts to release his own new album, 'Silver Kobalt'. The ambitious LP draws lines from pop to the avant-garde.

Aged just 30, Manu Delago is the world's leading Hang player (with 5 million YouTube views for his DIY performance video "Mono Desire") and possesses equally virtuosic skills as a percussionist and drummer alongside ever maturing instincts as a songwriter and producer. The accessible yet startlingly original sound of 'Silver Kobalt' draws on the experience and ideas built up by the London based Austrian native across a high-flying and diverse career to date. From overachieving teenaged rock bands, through extensive classical training; from his exploits at the cutting edge of art pop as the lynchpin of Björk's band, to a London Symphony Orchestra commission which saw him playfully subverting their expectations; this endlessly curious artist has been honing his own style rich in melody, wit and invention.

The title, 'Silver Kobalt', plays on the strangely linked themes of magnets, goblins and human behaviour. Throwing a pair of small magnets in the air one day, Delago recorded their frantic, thrumming sound for the track "Plus Minus"; he also experimented with the detuning effect of a magnet on the Hang. Magnet fascination deepening, he read that some rare elements are permanently magnetised, of which one is cobalt. Then, up popped the pleasing story that cobalt was actually named after the German word for 'goblin' ('kobold') by hapless silver miners who suspected little kobolds had taken all the silver and left them with this substance. Further reading revealed also that all humans contain cobalt which we need to survive. "I really enjoyed this string of information", he says. "As well as this fun idea of little goblins within us, it really struck a chord because I had been thinking a lot about attraction and repulsion - what makes people magnetically drawn to some things, away from others - and that is a strong theme in the music. 'Silver Kobalt' tied it all together."

Tying together the many sonic threads is co-producer Matt Robertson (Björk, The Prodigy, The Streets, Bat For Lashes), following his work on Delago's acclaimed 2013 LP 'Bigger Than Home', the record on which he began to truly develop his current sound. This is a sound that revolves around the unique timbre of the Hang, but encompasses much more, from acoustic percussion, bassoon, piano and chimes to multi-layered beats and a variety of synths.

The hypnotic, nursery rhyme-like Hang melody of lead single "Disgustingly Beautiful" feat. Isa Kurz opens the album; the affecting vocals of Kurz (also the pianist and violinist on record and in the live outfit Manu Delago Handmade) ride a bass-heavy undercurrent, with added beats from Grammy nominated producer j.viewz. On the spiky yet melodically catchy "Plus Minus", the aforementioned magnet theme is extended into the composition, with two main lines that are pulled together and pushed apart. "Drumheart feat. Anil Sebastian" is pristine bassy pop lifted onto another plane by the haunting, androgynous vocals of the up-and-coming singer.

Stealthily moving into a fascinating instrumental section, "Down to the Summit" (which, unusually, uses the Indian drone instrument Surpeti for harmony) leads to the punchy, subby Hang sound and four-handed piano tinkering of "Wandering Around" and on to the joyful "Simon is Psychling", which calls to mind a DJ with speakers on a bike, circling a big field, one lap bringing a bassoon solo, another an industrial noise-fest. Restoring calm, "Sun In The North feat. Isa Kurz" is a potent lyrical snapshot from a day on the beach on Reunion Island in the Indian Ocean, its rhythms inspired by playing with Indian musicians there. Cobalt gets its glory in the shape-shifting "Chemical Reaction feat. Rahel", and the lovelorn "Dearest" was conceived on tour in Australia where Delago captured the fairytale vocals of celebrated Australian folk singer Katie Noonan. "Almost Thirty", in Delago's words, "draws a bow from Eurotrash Dance Music to Austrian folk music, with some brainy immature rhythm ejaculations in between"; a banger that skirts the border between strange-town and club-land, it is a thrilling way to see out both his third decade on Earth and the album.

Having been given his first drum kit aged two, also learning the accordion and piano in childhood, Manu Delago was a professional performer by his teens, but it was in 2003, when he began playing the Hang - an enchanting new sound sculpture from Switzerland - that he discovered his passion for writing music. On graduating from the university Mozarteum in Innsbruck, he moved to London and studied at Guildhall School of Music & Drama and Trinity College of Music. With this pedigree, the lessons learned from collaborating with his heroes, and influences from The Prodigy to Bon Iver, Michael Jackson to Stravinsky and Beyonce to Rage against the Machine, his music is as impeccably realised as it is impossible to classify. Delago has featured heavily in the world's media, having toured on six continents and played festivals including Shambala, Green Man, Haldern Pop, Reeperbahn, Eurosonic and Popfest Vienna.

    Silver Apples

New 24 Bit /96 kHz Transfer Taken From The Original Master Tapes

    Deluxe Silver Foil Jacket (Tip-On)

    Limited Blue Sky Colored Vinyl

Formed in 1967 as a psychedelic electronic duo featuring Dan Taylor on drums and Simeon on a homemade synthesizer consisting of 12 oscillators (and an assortment of sound filters, telegraph keys, radio parts, lab gear and a variety of second hand electronic junk), Silver Apples quickly gained a reputations New York's leading underground musical expression.

Their pulsating rhythmic beats with the use of electronics laid the groundwork for what would become "Krautrock."

Silver Apples was released in 1968 and still remains an innovative and revolutionary album. Their highly influential sound has influenced countless bands from Stereolab, Beastie Boys, Blur and more.

The first remarkable trait of Lazy Smoke's sound is the lead vocal's similarity to John Lennon. Upon digging just a little deeper below the surface, we instead find a darker tone and a patient, eerie feeling resonating through the songs.

While bands like The Beatles and Love were singing about love, lament and hallucinated travel experiences, the songs on Corridor of Faces get sincerely dark right away.

Even the seemingly-light teenage love-themed "Sarah Saturday" shares an undercurrent of on-the-edge uncertainty. It's this undercurrent that calls to mind comparisons to Forever Changes era Love. Originally privately pressed in MA in an edition of only 500 copies in 1968. Now repressed again in 2016 on Blue Sky Colored Vinyl.

With love for detail we have optimised circuits and raised the mechanical system to a downright masterful level.

The Silver Cube can display its excellence in combination with almost any MM and MC systems available on the market. For this purpose the adjustable gain between 36 dB and 66 dB gives you the necessary flexibility. Finest ingredients such as high-grade Mundorf tin foil capacitors in the filtering network, mica capacitors in the input section, WBT Nextgen sockets for the signal connection and vibration-damping feet from SSC: these are important, yet nowhere near all reasons for the top performance one can experience with the Silver Cube. In any case, one thing soon becomes clear: the Silver Cube is not suitable for fault compensating chains.

The adaptations described provide breathtaking dynamics, excellent specifications as well as an impressively holographic imaging. The sheer elegance of this phono stage once again shows in its high-class aluminium design. It does not only serve as a heatsink for the discrete class-A output stage with no overall negative feedback, but also makes the Silver Cube the visual the star of your high-end system.

    Wyndsor Phono Amp Silver

Creek Audio has a long history of making fine sounding Phono pre-amplifiers.

Dating back to the company's first product, the 4040 manufactured in 1982, and more recently the fine sounding OBH range of stand-alone Phono pre-amps, Creek has always applied extra attention to this part of an amplifier's circuitry to obtain the best performance and price. The complexity and accuracy of previous Creek in-built and external Phono pre-amplifiers has always been balanced to suit the total cost of the product and to match the grade of performance versus price.

Creek's first step towards a no-compromise Phono Pre-amplifier was introduced in 2006 when it produced the Destiny Phono Card. This plug-in circuit was exclusive to the Creek Destiny integrated amplifier and was limited to running from the amplifier's own power supply. Its performance proved exemplary, due to the new circuit design, which utilised very high performance Op-Amps and Balanced SSM2019 integrated amplifiers, with extremely accurate passive components to achieve accurate RIAA EQ. To make it work within the limited confines of an integrated amplifier, it squeezed both left and right channels onto a small 4 layer PCB, using surface mount technology.

The success of the Destiny plug-in Phono board led to the development of the Wyndsor Phono Pre-amplifier, as a no compromise stand-alone product. It is built into the same stylish case as the Wyndsor LP1 Speed Controller, which is used to power Creek's high-end turntable.

In order to provide the best performance, left and right channels are built on separate PCB's.

Each channel has dedicated power supply regulation to completely isolate it from the other channel.

Unbalanced input and outputs are connected via high grade gold plated RCA sockets.

Balanced input is possible via dedicated 3 pin mini DIN sockets. Tone arms and some cartridges can be wired specially in balance configuration and soldered to the DIN plugs provided with this product.

Input selection, cartridge loading and gain are all fully adjustable from the front panel High quality gold contact relays are used to switch all the functions and are driven from a dedicated, stand-alone, high quality linear power supply to isolate them from the analogue pre-amp circuitry.

The front panel display indicates which functions have been selected. A micro-controller based control interface is accessed through a rotary input selector and push buttons. Several types of cartridge with different parameters can be programmed and the user can name and store them as pre-set numbers in the unit's memory. It is possible to write up to 16 characters on the display for each selection. For each entry the display will show the cartridge name and type, plus a full description of loading, gain and input type. The display can be adjusted in brightness or turned off completely.

Mute will short the output of the pre-amp, to enable the user to change a record and cut the volume in a convenient way and return to the previous level by pressing the Mute button again.

The Phono pre-amplifier uses a newly developed Wyndsor power supply unit, with separate supplies for analogue and digital circuits. Turning the pre-amp on and off from the mains is achieved by the switch on the front of the power supply or on the back of the pre-amp.

The Magik Sounds of The Pine Hill Haints

The Magik Sounds of the Pine Hill Haints ventures
softly into the cool, dark whisper of the haunted south. Short,
tight spun rhymes about silver quarters and vampires come
from a late evening session in a small pink house in south
Alabama, located next to an old Native American mound of
shells and bones, recorded at low volume with red eyes and
open windows. This is the 4th Halloween dance party long
player the Haints have cut for K.

Mrs Pac-Man sets the theme...although this record is
quicker and faster, Buddy Holly pop driven than most other
Haint efforts, the opening track places your mind in the
smokey state needed to feel the Magik Sound vibe. The sad
Queen of all truck stops and late night greasy spoons, the
lovely Angel Mrs Pac-man hold her charm over the listener
and keeps every loner in tune with midnight feeling.

I used to work a lot of third shift jobs, serving crummy food to
sweethearts, the day finished, done, another one in the
books, and the great burden of living in a modern nightmare
almost, almost felt like it had been lifted...the sweet early
a.m. twilight hours, where all humans are brothers again, all
hatreds and vices and ill wills are temporarily forgiven, folks
smile and tell a little joke or two, and the haunted Mrs Pac-man winks eternal in the background...

Have a question about this product? Please email our audio advisor or call 1-877-929-8729 with any questions or concerns regarding your equipment purchase.

The P5 is the second largest of our personal power generating stations, producing pure and perfect AC from a powerful analog based AC regenerator and is the power source of choice for almost any size system. Smaller than the P10, this workhorse should be the foundation on which you build your system when a P10 isn't in the cards.

The P5 Power Plant takes in the old AC and, using an internal powerful class A/B power amplifier, generates new, low distortion AC in its place. Gone are the times when your system sounds better at night or during the day, with the P5 in place it will always sound great. The P5 has 4 separate regenerated zones and 1200 watts of pure regenerated power that can handle any size system you want to power. From medium to large power amplifiers to the smallest pieces of source equipment, the P5 will work magic on your system's performance.

With your system powered directly from the output of the P5, dynamics and openness are breathtaking.

Locked inside your CD, HRx, BluRay, and SACD collections is a wealth of music you've not yet heard. The DirectStream Memory Player uncovers the musical treasures long-buried in your library. Eight years in research, two years in development, the DMP is our crowning achievement in musical reproduction of optical media. If there are any better sounding players on the market, we are unaware of them. Breathe new life into your CD collection played through any DAC. Send the raw DSD layer of SACD into your DirectStream or DirectStream Junior DAC so you can hear, for the first time, what's long been unavailable to external DACs in these high-resolution discs.

35 years after the introduction of the CD, PS engineers have perfected the art of data extraction and delivery so you can finally hear what's been locked away in your CD and SACD collection. The DirectStream Memory Player (DMP) is a universal optical disc transport with a twist inside: an advanced Digital Lens. The Lens, first invented in 1993 by PS Audio's Paul McGowan and Bob Stadtherr, electrically isolates the mechanical transport/laser mechanism of optical disc readers, improves audio quality to a degree few systems have yet achieved, and focuses audio data into a single, bit-perfect, timing-perfected stream to your DAC.

CD reproduction is unequaled by any other player we know of. CDs played through DMP now comes closer than ever to high-resolution PCM and DSD, uncovering new layers of dimensionality, soundstage, depth and musicality previously unobtainable in other optical readers or server based audio systems.

DMP opens the long restricted DSD layer of SACD to PS Audio DACs. Through a unique code-handshake, DMP will deliver the raw DSD layer of copyright protected SACD directly into your PS Audio DAC. This means that for the first time you'll uncover the wealth of audio's finest digital medium, DSD, and hear exactly what the mastering engineers who created these discs have enjoyed all along.

Welcome to DMP, the last optical disc player you will ever need. There are simply no better devices made.

There isn't a DAC made that doesn't benefit from a great analog preamplifier. The Stellar Gain Cell DAC combines the benefits of both-a full-featured DAC with an exceptional analog preamplifier controlling its output level. Fully balanced circuitry from input to output, the Stellar Gain Cell DAC builds upon years of research and innovation in the art of digital audio and Class A analog amplification. Together, or separately, they create an extraordinarily rich, full-bodied musical experience few standalone products can match. Stellar Gain Cell DAC is the perfect foundation for those unwilling to compromise sound quality. Rich. Lush. Powerful. A music lover's answer to spiraling cost-no-object equipment without sacrifice.

Even the best DACs in the world benefit from a zero-loss analog preamp. That fact was the basis of the Stellar Gain Cell design imperative. Combine a cutting edge DAC's output with a no compromise analog preamplifier. A unique combination of a gorgeous full-featured digital to analog converter and state of the art analog amplification. Add any analog or digital source to Stellar's input, a power amp and speakers to its output, and music filled with rich textures and toe-tapping energy surprise and delight even the most critical Audiophile.

At the heart of Stellar Gain Cell DAC is a stunning, Bob Stadtherr designed, digital to analog converter. Based on industry leading Sabre32 bit Hyperstream architecture, Stellar DAC features a fully balanced Class A analog output stage with multiple power supplies, independent jitter-reduced inputs, DSD, I2S, and asynchronous USB.

The DAC's output level is controlled by the analog Gain Cell. Developed in the early 2000's by PS Audio founder Paul McGowan, the Gain Cell elegantly solves the fundamental problem facing preamp designers. Volume control. Nearly all analog preamplifiers use additional sonically-degrading elements inserted in the signal path to control volume. These impediments to the signal path's purity range from simple potentiometers to exotic stepped attenuators, relays, solid state switches, ladder networks, transformers, light dependent resistors. All share intrusive elements in the signal path. The Gain Cell eliminates this problem without additional circuitry in the signal path by varying its gain in response to front panel controls.

    Tightropes

Tall Tales And The Silver Lining is a Los Angeles based band led by songwriter Trevor Beld Jimenez. Beld Jimenez grew up on the sounds of '70's AM radio, along with L.A. classics like Jackson Browne, Court and Spark-era Joni Mitchell, Neil Young and Crazy Horse and the Byrds. His music incorporates all of that -- classic songwriting, great playing, simple, hook-heavy arrangements and thoughtful production -- but updates the sound for today. It's straightforward, heartfelt rock & roll, ten songs of love and loss, ocean-scented breezes and the hum of the open road beneath your wheels.

Marks The 15th Anniversary Of The Band, Founded And Led By Efrim Menuck Of Godspeed You! Black Emperor

First New SMZ Full Length Since GYBE's Return To Action In 2011

Recorded In Quebec By Greg Norman (electrical Audio)

Thee Silver Mt. Zion Memorial Orchestra (SMZ) has traced a barbed-wire arc of
genre-defying protest music since its inception in 1999. Formed by Efrim Menuck, with
Thierry Amar and Sophie Trudeau, the initial iteration of the band was a predominantly
instrumental trio that forged a more intimate and ragged chamber-punk than Godspeed
You! Black Emperor, in which group all three founding SMZ members also played (and
continue to play). Through seven albums from 2000-2010, SMZ expanded its line-up and
shifted towards an increasing use of lead and group vocals, with Menuck penning politically charged lyrics to anchor long-form multi-movement compositions that juxtaposed electrified
guitars against a 4-piece string section of violins, cello and contrabass.

Most recently, SMZ has pared back to five players, with Menuck's massive spectrum spanning electric guitar sound emerging as the spine around which two violins, bass (now
more often electric than acoustic) and drums are deployed. SMZ have managed a handful
of short tours in the past couple of years (in the gaps between GYBE commitments) and
as anyone who has seen the band in its recent incarnation can attest, their current sound
is more honed, laser-guided and bone-rattling than ever, melding hardcore, blues, garage
and dark metal influences that have nothing to do with anything so quaint as "post-rock"
(a tag the group has always and rightly rejected).

Fuck Off Get Free We Pour Light On Everything is the first definitive document of
the band's newfound sound and style as a quintet. It's also their first single LP-length
work since the band's debut record as a trio almost 15 years ago, and features road tested pummeling rock-outs "Fuck Off Get Free (For The Island Of MontrÉal)", "Take
Away These Early Grave Blues" and "What We Loved Was Not Enough" alongside the
previously unheard lullabyes/minuets "Little Ones Run" and "Rains Thru The Roof At Thee
Grande Ballroom (For Capital Steeze)" and the album centerpiece "Austerity Blues" with
its closing lyric "Lord let my son live long enough to see that mountain torn down"
sung in varying incarnations throughout the second half of this 14-minute epic.

This lyric in many ways encapsulates Menuck's unflinching take on a world replete with
shabbiness, greed and injustice, seen through the lens of parenthood, mortality, endurance
and defiance. There are few other musicians who deliver social critique with the courage
and honesty of lines like "All our cities gonna burn / All our bridges gonna snap / All our
pennies gonna rot / Lightning roll across our tracks / All our children gonna die". Feel-good
music this is not; but neither can it reductively be tagged apocalyptic or world-weary.
Fuck Off Get Free rages with scorn and with hope, utterly passionate but pointedly
unromantic. Thee Silver Mt. Zion once again demonstrates, like few other bands working
today, that there is much to fight for and against, and plenty more fight songs to sing.

Anyway You Love, We Know How You Feel

The Chris Robinson Brotherhood have announced the release of their fourth studio album, Anyway You Love, We Know How You Feel, via Robinson's own Silver Arrow Records. The band relocated to northern California for the sessions, recording on the side of a mountain overlooking the foggy Pacific Ocean and channeling the natural majesty of their surroundings into the album's eight sprawling tracks. Having spent the prior two years touring relentlessly, the CRB were road-tested and in peak form to capture their kinetic chemistry and immersive sound, which Uncut Magazine called, " a celebration of how American musical traditions can be at once honored and psychedelically expanded."

"It was an opportunity to see where our expression could take us. For us, when it comes to making records, the looser it gets the better," says Robinson. "It's all about taking our intuition and following it to where our ideas can really manifest themselves. This turned out to be the most spontaneous record I've ever been a part of."

Indeed, when the Chris Robinson Brotherhood entered the studio to begin recording the album, no one knew just what to expect. These would be the band's first recordings with new drummer Tony Leone (Ollabelle, Levon Helm) and their first time producing themselves. Robinson purposely left as much open-ended as possible. Rather than coming into the studio with a collection of finished songs as he had in the past, he would present the group with sketches-a verse and melody here, a chorus and chord progression there-and let the band follow its collective muse to bring the music to life. They'd lean into the improvisational nature that makes their live shows such enthralling spectacles and thrive on the unexpected.

"All it takes is one good, small idea, and then if everyone's focused and in the moment, a few hours later, you can have something that you realize you'll be playing for as long as you're making music," Robinson continues. "I think when everyone's aware that that's the sort of magic that we're looking for. More than any other session that I've ever been a part of, that's how all of these songs were done."

The album kicks off with "Narcissus Soaking Wet," a psychedelic toe-tapper that marks Robinson's first co-write with keyboardist Adam MacDougall. It touches on everything from Dylan and Parliament Funkadelic to psych rock and Chicago rhythm and blues. "Ain't It Hard But Fair" calls to mind the soulful Americana of The Band, while "Oak Apple Day" is a mediation on life in the CRB, and "Forever As The Moon" came together in a stream of consciousness between The CRB's lead guitarist Neal Casal and Robinson. "Leave My Guitar Alone" was a song Robinson had been sitting on for nearly 15 years, but only once he presented it to the rest of the band did it roar to life in a way that had eluded him for more than a decade. Some of Robinson's finest writing to date arrives in the album's final minutes, with the country-soul, gospel-tinged closer "California Hymn," which finds him singing "Glory glory hallelujah / It's time to spread the news / Though my good words may sound profane to some."

The Chris Robinson Brotherhood emerged in 2011 by playing close to 50 shows over nine weeks in California before ever leaving the Golden State or officially releasing music. Their introduction on the national stage came in 2012 when they'd release not one, but two acclaimed full-length albums within a few months of each other. Critics hailed their sprawling debut, Big Moon Ritual, as a revelation, with The Independent raving that Robinson had "finally found the ideal vehicle to indulge his taste for 'Cosmic California Music.'" The reviews were similarly ecstatic for its immediate follow-up, The Magic Door, which was praised by Relix as "classic rock in the finest sense." The band's epic tour schedule brought their shimmering acid-Americana around the world for a staggering 118-date tour, firmly establishing the CRB as the new standard-bearers of the psychedelic roots torch. In 2014, they returned to the studio for Phosphorescent Harvest, a masterful collection that showcased the blossoming songwriting partnership between Robinson and Neal Casal. Rolling Stone raved that the album was "electrifying boast[ing] a vintage rock vibe that's at once quirky, trippy, soulful and downright magnetic," and Guitar World called it "a treasure trove of soul that advances the band's bluesy, kaleidoscopic sound."

    1. Narcissus Soaking Wet
    2. Forever As the Moon

The BHK Signature 250 and 300 power amplifiers are the culmination of one man's half-century search for perfection in music's reproduction. Bascom H. King has designed amplifiers for many companies, some selling in excess of $100,000, including: Constellation Audio, Marantz, Infinity, and Conrad Johnson. This is the first amplifier Bascom felt was good enough to lend his name to. It is his finest achievement in a lifetime of work.

Available in both stereo and mono models, the BHK Signature series is unparalleled in its ability to render details formerly lost in the music. The BHK Signature is a hybrid design enjoying performance benefits from multiple design techniques including, a balanced differential vacuum tube input, balanced differential MOSFET power outputs, and separate, isolated, analog power supplies feeding each.

When it comes to musically controlling and powering loudspeakers, the BHK Signature has no peer. The stereo Signature 250 produces 250 watts/per channel into an eight-Ohm loudspeaker, 500 watts/channel into four-Ohms, and stable into 2-Ohms; enough power to satisfy even the hungriest of loads.

The Mono Signature 300 doubles the output current with half the impedance of the stereo model. Each Mono Signature produces 300 watts into an eight-Ohm loudspeaker, 600 watts into four-Ohms, and 1000 watts into 2-Ohms. But more than just doubling the current, the BHK Signature 300 also doubles every internal component of the 250 into one: double tubes, double power supplies, transistors, capacitors and resistors. The results are hard to put into words. The BHK Signature 300 is a clear step above the stereo 250, on the order of 20% better, though both have the same character of sound. Both the Stereo 250 and Mono 300 are one of the best performing, musical sounding amplifiers ever made. Imagine your delight listening to either.

    Kingdoms Disdained

Morbid Angel, the true forefathers of death metal music, triumphantly return with their 9th studio album Kingdoms Disdained, to be released on Silver Linings Music.

Kingdoms Disdained finds legendary guitarist and founder Trey Azagthoth reigniting his creative alchemy with vocalist/bassist Steve Tucker to create a crushingly heavy and highly apocalyptic soundtrack for these increasingly dark times. Relentless and unrepentant Kingdoms Disdained abounds with sheer, brutal power, complex changes and a gloriously violent death metal underpinning, an album designed to confront fans and non-believers alike, with Tucker's lyrics destined to spark deep conversation on several angles of mysticism and darkness. "Garden of Disdain" proclaims 'this world of useless being, this endless festering' as the unceasing riff's weight further augments the song's meaning, while the barbaric barrage of "Architect and Iconoclast" roars 'I am all prophecies fulfilled, yet you refuse to see this.' Azagthoth produces some of his finest work yet, his demonically-heavy riffs and lead work finding a powerful delivery vehicle via the strength of Scotty Fuller's insane percussion and Tucker's relentless vocal savagery. The supreme solo during "The Righteous Voice" underscores Azagthoth's unique creative arrangements, and in "For No Master", Azagthoth illustrates that no guitarist in the genre orchestrates, and translates, dark chaos so masterfully.

Wrapped in a thick wall of death metal sound, Kingdoms Disdained was recorded at Mana Studios in St. Petersburg, FL and produced by Morbid Angel with Erik Rutan (produced albums by Morbid Angel, Cannibal Corpse, Hate Eternal, Six Feet Under, Belphegor and many more). It will unequivocally and unapologetically reset the bar for dynamic death metal music, and only the scared, the meek or the ignorant would wilfully deny themselves a taste of Kingdoms Disdained.

    Barefoot in the Head

They say the only people who know true freedom are musicians and gangsters, Chris Robinson says with a laugh. And Bob Dylan said to live outside the law you must be honest. We're living in these anxiety-filled times, in an era of 'no truth,' but what our music represents is this truly honest way of communicating with people, and that's a really freeing thing.

If their stellar new album, 'Barefoot In The Head,' is any indication, freedom suits the Chris Robinson Brotherhood well. The band is in the midst of one of their most prolific periods to date, with a slew of studio and live records coming out amidst a rigorous tour schedule that only seems to fuel their fire even further. 'Barefoot In The Head' finds the band pushing boundaries and breaking new ground with more joy and wonder than ever before. The album showcases the continued growth of Robinson's songwriting partnership with his bandmates (guitarist Neal Casal, drummer Tony Leone, keyboardist Adam MacDougall, and bassist Jeff Hill), while reveling in the kind of playful adventurousness that can only come from five artists tuned in to the same sonic wavelength.

The album opens with the Americana funk of Behold The Seer, which sounds like something of a mission statement for the CRB as Robinson sings, If you want to keep your engine humming / Keep your eyes wide ahead and don't look back. On the dreamy She Shares My Blanket, Robinson crafts cinematic scenes from a winter love affair in the mountains, while elegant pedal steel added by special guest Barry Sless on Blonde Light Of Day casts a warm, romantic haze and Blue Star Woman sounds like T-Rex dressed in overalls living on a West Coast commune. Throughout the album, Robinson and the band deftly intertwine country, blues and psychedelia, even channeling freewheeling 60s' folk on Hark The Herald Hermit Speaks, a breakneck stream of consciousness that blurs the lines between fantasy and reality. On the English psych inspired Glow, which Robinson calls one of the most special things I've ever done in the studio, The CRB are joined by the celebrated sarodist Alam Khan (son of the legendary Ali Akbar Khan).

After six years of solid touring with this band, we can still roll into Fayetteville, AR on a Tuesday night and have the most fun of any musical thing I've ever been a part of, says Robinson. We don't have the weight of responsibility or nostalgia, which means we're in the very psychedelic situation of getting to be totally honest and create everything in the moment. That's freedom.

Mastered Impeccably from the Original Windfall Records Tapes by Joe Reagoso at Friday Music Studios with Kevin Gray and Pressed at R.T.I., This 1970 Masterpiece is Seeing its First Time Audiophile Vinyl Mastering as well as Seeing the Vinyl Format in Almost Four Decades!

Climbing! also referred to by fans as Mountain Climbing! was released in 1970, went gold immediately and began a very successful partnership albeit brief for this arena packing quartet. Consisting of guitar shredder/vocalist extraordinaire Leslie West, the late great Felix Pappalardi on bass, keys and vocals, the explosive Corky Laing on drums and the masterful Steve Knight on organ/piano, Mountain was the band of choice for many hard rock fans throughout the seventies.

Gaining mass momentum from their appearance at Woodstock in 1969, the band got in the studio and cut this masterwork with mega producer and Mountain bassist Felix Pappalardi (Cream, Hot Tuna, Jack Bruce), churning out soon to be smash hits that would be forever played on classic rock stations globally. Since Cream was no longer an entity, the great Felix Pappalardi's affiliation with this groundbreaking trio surely paid off with his studio skills, production techniques and knowledge of working with sounds and elements that surely changed the way a lot of us listen to albums these days.

Tracks like Jack Bruce and Pete Brown's Theme For An Imaginary Western and For Yasgur's Farm would show not only the studio wizardry of the great Felix Pappalardi but also his unique vocal prowess and artillery like bass playing, which today is emulated by many, and made this album the masterpiece it is.

More burners like Leslie West's delivery on Never In My Life and Sittin' On A Rainbow showcase the brilliance of the man, the guitar and the voice which is equally important whenever discussing the talents of this superstar blues rock master. Corky Laing and Steve Knight propel the band into realms not heard in years with their never tiring percussive drum and keyboard interplay. Just check out the hard work driving sounds of Silver Paper and Boys In The Band.

Even an acoustic side of Mountain enhances the masterwork with a pair of exceptional tunes To My Friend and The Laird, highlighting the acoustic and folk roots of both Leslie West and Felix Pappalardi.

The CHRIS ROBINSON BROTHERHOOD unveil their third studio album PHOSPHORESCENT HARVEST via Silver Arrow Records. The band--Chris Robinson (lead vocals, guitar), Neal Casal (guitar, vocals), Adam MacDougall (keys, vocals), George Sluppick (drums) and Mark Dutton (bass, vocals)--will also hit the road in conjunction with the album's release.

PHOSPHORESCENT HARVEST is a treasure trove of 10 songs--including several the band road-tested over the last few years--that advances the band's kaleidoscopic sound, which is deeply soulful, rootsy and spacey all at once. There's strong songcraft here, with a free-flowing delivery; it is music that is in no hurry to reach its destination but firmly knows where it is going. From the beginning, the CRB set out to do something different from what they had done before, creating their own scene with a musical prowess, cohesive songwriting and a unified commitment to experimentation, both in the studio and on the road (they've performed over 230 shows since forming in 2011).

The best perspective I have on what's going on in my life--good and bad--is what comes out in the songs, says Chris Robinson. As you move on in time, you get older, you have relationships. Some of them are good, some fail. Friends. Drugs. Life. Death. People come, people go. Songwriting is a completely different emotional response to your life and to what it means, to in some poetic nature, put it out there.

PHOSPHORESCENT HARVEST follows the release of the companion albums Big Moon Ritual (June 2012) and The Magic Door (September 2012) plus last year's live quadruple vinyl Betty's S.F. Blends, Vol 1. The group continues to record with producer Thom Monahan, and Robinson wrote all of the songs with Casal, save for two that are Robinson solo compositions (Tornado, Jump The Turnstiles).

We're really going by the electricity and the vibrations that we can sort of tune in to, Robinson recently told Relix magazine (Jan/Feb '14). There's a psychedelic component to it. That's part of the greasing the wheels of the great cosmic engine, with psychedelic thought and philosophy and action. If you get my drift. He went on to talk about the more rock and roll feel on PHOSPHORESCENT HARVEST, and his overall vision for the Brotherhood: I'm not going to have hit records. I don't write pop songs. But then again, I find a deep need to express myself and how I'm feeling and where I am and where I've been and where I'm going by writing songs. Why change something to make it easier for anyone else, when I think if we stay sincere and keep our energies in a real creative place, then people will wander into our small community, and it maybe would get more popular to tend that garden is a great responsibility. But I want it to grow. Check out the whole Relix feature here.

Rolling Stone editor David Fricke picked the CHRIS ROBINSON BROTHERHOOD as one of his favorites of 2012, and praised their live performance in New York City, saying the singer's acid-country Brotherhood, with ex-Ryan Adams guitarist Neal Casal, were a sublime time onstage and across these two albums, recorded at the same sessions and issued six months apart. The Irving Plaza show was a characteristic live high. In the second set, Robinson steered out of a rattling 'Tough Mama,' from Bob Dylan's Planet Waves, into the long reverie 'Girl on the Mountain,' a song from an earlier side trip, New Earth Mud, given fresh air and a new coat of DayGlo paint (1/30/13).

    The Tokyo Blues

    Blue Note Reissue

As much as I'd love to relay all kinds of anecdotes about the challenges Steve Hoffman and Kevin Gray encounter during the mastering sessions, I witness none. These boys know the sound of the facility and the Van Gelder masters like the backs of their handsBack home a month later, I unpack some test pressings Chad Kassem has sent meI hear the most realistic-sounding drums ever reproduced by my system. It's as though I'm sitting at the point of creation, experiencing the same high that brought such gifted musicians together as one. Steve Hoffman, Kevin Gray, Chad Kassem, and Don MacInnis have done Rudy Van Gelder and his Blue Note artists proud. Jason Victor Serinus, Stereophile, April 2008

Tokyo Blues, a quintessential mid-'60s Blue Note session, is Horace Silver's tribute to the Japanese people who have long supported his funky, Latin-flavored modern jazz. American jazz has always been wildly popular in Japan, and this album is Silver's homage to the many fans that he has encountered on various triumphant tours of the island nation. While Silver's trademark funky Latin/swing is at the forefront, the inspiration of eastern delights is clearly evident in all aspects of this grooving date.
