    Freak Show

Green Vinyl - Limited to 1500

Remastered For Vinyl From 24bit Analogue And Lacquers Created By Kevin Gray

Freak Show is the second studio album from Australian rock band Silverchair. Freak Show was released on 3 February 1997. The album also gives listeners a glimpse into the band's experimental side, as can be heard in Petrol & Chlorine and Cemetery. Early vinyl pressings also included a precursor to Anthem for the Year 2000 entitled The Millennium Bug.

Silverchair began recording their second studio album, Freak Show, in May 1996 while experiencing the success of their debut album, Frogstomp, in Australia and the US. It was produced by Nick Launay (Birthday Party, Models, Midnight Oil) and was released in February 1997. The album reached number-one in Australia and yielded three Top 10 singles - Freak, Abuse Me, and Cemetery. Its fourth single, The Door, reached No. 25. The songs focused on the anger and backlash that the expectations of Frogstomp brought upon the band. Freak Show was certified gold in the US, 4× platinum in Australia and global sales eventually exceeded 1.5 million copies.

SRCvinyl is proud to bring you Goldfinger's self-titled album on vinyl for the first time ever! Goldfinger is the first album by ska punk band Goldfinger, originally released in February 1996.

''The year 1996 was a breakthrough year for a new sound: the fusion of ska and punk. The Suicide Machines debuted, Less Than Jake made their major-label debut, but no one had more success with this new sound than Goldfinger on their self-titled debut. That could be because the band went even farther with their genre-bending, throwing metal and a touch of reggae into the mix. Or it could be because songs like the hit ''Here in Your Bedroom'' and ''Mabel'' are irresistibly catchy, creative, and, with such self-effacing lyrics as the maybe-size-does-matter line in ''Mabel,'' hopelessly endearing. The album is an emotional roller coaster, from the self-affirming ''Bedroom'' (''You have changed/Cuz I still feel the same'') to the confusion of ''Mind's Eye'' (''Every time that I see you/I act like a different man'') to the oh-well-I-give-up humor of ''My Girlfriend's Shower Sucks'' (''It's like the shower's going pee''). And there's plenty of anger and aggression left over for songs like ''Answers.'' The album went gold in 1998.'' -- Allmusic.com

SRCvinyl is proud to bring you Goldfinger's self-titled album on vinyl for the first time ever! Goldfinger is the first album by ska punk band Goldfinger, originally released in February 1996.

Goldfinger return with a sophomore album that takes a tight, cohesive sound and adds a drop more ska to the ska-punk-metal-pop mix that won them interest and acclaim after the release of their self-titled 1996 debut. Amid crashing guitars and occasionally cacophonous vocals by John Feldmann, HANG-UPS offers wonderfully engaging surprises like a sweetly unexpected sense of melody, an unshakable twisted wit, and a newly expanded horn section which contributes to the album's full, vivid sound.

If Only stands out both for its typical Goldfinger humor (If only I was eighteen/And had the courage of the A-Team/Maybe then you'd be with me) and its gentle, melancholy lyrics and vocals. Feldmann's ability to let his voice go from punk-sinister to soft and pretty is one of the many strengths of this engaging band.

    Clumsy

    Gold With Smoke Colored Vinyl

Mastered For Vinyl And Lacquers Cut By Kevin Gray, Cohearent Audio

    Includes A 12 Page Booklet

SRCVinyl will make Our Lady Peace's second studio album Clumsy available on vinyl for the first time ever! Originally released on January 23 1997, Clumsy is approaching it's 20th anniversary and will receive the SRCHIFI vinyl treatment in honor of this.

Two years after their impressive debut, Our Lady Peace continue their rock journey with Clumsy. This time around, the melodies are more comfortable and the roaring rock riffs are calmer, resulting in a sound that earned Our Lady Peace the highest sales of their career. Raine Maida's lyrical screeching remains intact, sounding quite inviting on songs such as Big Dumb Rocket and Automatic Flowers.

The intensity found on the first album is a bit more tame, but Clumsy still beats the sophomore slump, and leadoff single Superman's Dead shows Our Lady Peace creating a unique type of post-grunge music. The album does introduce a more mature Our Lady Peace, and Maida's songwriting is far more internal, a reflection of personal imperfections and consequences that help fuel standout ballads like 4 A.M. But what makes Our Lady Peace a powerful act is their desire to keep it real on their own turf. Many may criticize Clumsy as less desirable, but it's their own deal. And that's how rock & roll should be, anyway. (MacKenzie Wilson, Allmusic.com)

    Angus Soundtrack

    Clear Vinyl

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Angus Soundtrack, SRCvinyl is bringing it to vinyl for the first time ever! The album has been mastered for vinyl by Kevin Gray at Coherent Studios and is pressed on limited edition 180 gram vinyl.

The film's soundtrack accurately reflects the melodic ideas prevalent in the alternative rock scene at the time. Most of the bands perform songs that closely resonate with the themes of the film while keeping a fast yet upbeat tone, a sharp departure from the age of grunge, which had just reached its twilight. (It should be noted that Angus' penchant for flannel and denim, as well as his defeatist persona, are concepts more closely associated with grunge.) However, several key songs are absent in the CD that was released, most notably ''Fade into You'' by Mazzy Star, the song that was played as Angus and Melissa danced, and ''Rubella'' by the Smoking Popes.

Weezer's initial offering, a song entitled ''Wanda (You're My Only Love)'' (or sometimes just ''Wanda''), was written specifically for the movie but rejected for being ''too much of a strict interpretation of the movie'' and for not sounding enough like what was expected of Weezer at the time. The previously written, more uptempo ''You Gave Your Love to Me Softly'' was used instead, and the rejection of the former song was known to have hurt Weezer's singer and songwriter Rivers Cuomo at the time. Though Weezer never properly recorded ''Wanda'', Cuomo released his 1994 demo of the song (along with the story of the song's submission and rejection) in 2007 on the albumAlone: The Home Recordings of Rivers Cuomo.

The unique version of ''Am I Wrong'' by Love Spit Love, mixing marching band horns into the original version of the song which interplay well with Richard Butler's raw vocals.

Green Day contributed ''J.A.R. (Jason Andrew Relva)'', a song written by bassist Mike Dirnt about his friend who died in a car accident when he was 19. This song peaked at number one on the Modern Rock Billboard charts of 1995. This song was later released on their 2001 greatest hits album, International Superhits. Meanwhile, Green Day singer Billie Joe Armstrong co-produced ''Back to You'' by the Riverdales with producer Mass Giorgini, which was featured during the dance sequence at the high prom in the film.

The music supervisors for Angus were Elliot Cahn and Jeff Saltzman, who, at the time, also managed two of the soundtrack's artists: Green Day and The Muffs.

    As Good As Dead

Local H will dig into their back catalog and release their breakthrough album As Good As Dead on 180 gram vinyl via srcvinyl. This re-issue marks the first time that the album will ever be available in this format. The high-quality, double LP will have a premium gatefold jacket and insert.

As Good As Dead, Local H's second full-length album, was produced by Steven Haigler (Quicksand, Pixies) and was originally released on April, 16, 1996 on Island Records on CD and cassette. The record was the band's first foray into making a concept album and is centered around life in a dead-end, small town. Venerable rock critic Robert Christgau gave the album a stellar A- review in the Village Voice, writing, at the time, "...I wish Pearl Jam, whose leader stars in the title song, packed such isometric power -- that sense of tremendous force bravely exerted against implacable reality -- and I say the exercise makes all of us stronger."

"The question I get asked the absolute most is when are we gonna put the older records out on vinyl?" says Local H frontman, Scott Lucas. "Here's the answer -- in the best possible way. The package is looking pretty good and I'm ALMOST as excited as anybody to finally drop the needle on this album -- on double vinyl, at last."

As Good As Dead spawned four modern rock radio hits including the above-referenced "Eddie Vedder," "Fritz's Corner," "High-Fivin' MF" and "that copacetic song" -- "Bound for the Floor," a track that remains a staple on alternative radio station playlists around the the country two decades later. The band made videos for each of the singles.

Local H, whose members during this time period were Lucas and original drummer Joe Daniels, toured the U.S. non-stop for two years after As Good As Dead was released, headlining their own small and large club shows; opening for Silverchair in bigger venues and Stone Temple Pilots in even bigger arenas (including Madison Square Garden in New York and Rosemont Horizon in Chicago); and performing to audiences of thousands at radio station festivals across the the country, including 1997's HFStival at RFK Stadium in Washington, DC. They toured Australia and played some played some European shows on this album, as well.

    Saosin (Awaiting Repress)

Saosin is the debut album by post-hardcore band Saosin. Includes a matte finish with spot UV gatefold jacket and full color inner sleeve.

The long wait is over. California's Saosin issued their debut EP Translating the Name in 2003. They already had a well-developed fan base for their unique, even enigmatic brand of post-hardcore screamo. The band, having undergone some personnel changes -- most notably singer Anthony Green's departure in 2004 and the enlisting of Cove Reber as his replacement -- also underwent a sonic change on their self-titled 2005 EP. That primer was a guidebook to the band's new sound. Their Capitol debut, produced by Howard Benson, who also plays keyboards and does minimal programming, is a much slicker and far more imaginative outing than the band's underground fans may appreciate. That's not to say it's not impressive. It is. Quite so. This quintet are fine songwriters, excellent musicians, and have actually taken their post-underground hardcore beginnings and turned them into something that may indeed further rock music itself. This is not an idle claim. The songs on this album are tight, finished, and full of unexpected twists and turns, varied dynamics, fine lyrics, and, most of all, they're surprising. The hard twin-guitar sound at the front drives a rhythm section that is always in the pocket. Justin Shekoski and Beau Burchell work symbiotically with one another. They twin riffs and single lines without ever devolving into guitar heroics. They play as a unit. Reber's beautiful high-pitched voice walks the line but never resorts to screaming, because he doesn't have to: his instrument is powerful enough to ride the top of the musical swirl. The rhythm section carries the cradle of all this innovation, never slipping or abandoning these songs to mere workmanship. Check the killer counterpoint leads on Follow and Feel, and how drummer Alex Rodriguez takes the beat to the band inside the tune. When Reber enters with Don't let them know you're watching their situation crumble... his lyric is one of dislocation and the futile attempt to understand distance and dissolution. The killer, all-out rock riff in It's So Simple is beguiling as the song's dynamics and pace change three times inside of four minutes. That's the other beauty of this record; all but one track are under four minutes. The album flows from top to bottom; songs bleed into one another yet keep their distinctive identities. It's a strange comparison, but Saosin are as unique in their way as U2 were in their right from the beginning. Though they are seasoned road warriors, it's no mean achievement that a debut album carrying so much weight seemingly so effortlessly, is so utterly sophisticated and complete . Sure, Capitol will try to make them the next big thing, and maybe they should -- when's the last time you heard anything really new in rock music? Bury Your Head is the only track here that is a carry-over from Saosin's EP. Its woven textures, explosive singing, knotty basslines, and call and response vocals are chilling and utterly effective. Saosin walk that line between metal, indie rock, post-hardcore, and many other things. But that tautness is what gives their songs such power and ruddy grace. The album may garner the charges of sell-out from the underground, but musicians grow. In a relatively short time, Saosin has evolved into a smart, utterly talented and perhaps even visionary unit that is rewriting the book in the 21st century. They have delivered a debut album that is mature, truly original, that can garner the attention of those kids -- and hopefully, older adults who still care about rock -- from almost any side of the rock & roll spectrum. - Allmusic.com

Silverchair's debut album, Frogstomp, faithfully follows the alternative rock tradition of Nirvana and Pearl Jam, which means that the group of Australian teenagers winds up sounding not like their idols, but like Stone Temple Pilots and Bush. For their age, their instrumental capabilities are quite impressive, as the guitars and vocals growl with the force of rockers in their early 20s.

    Mastered from the original tapes

Deluxe artwork packaging includes matte gatefold jacket and 11x22 insert

Far's second album, Water & Solutions, finds the Sacramento-based alternative metal band coming into their own, creating a distinctive fusion of the sober, grinding guitars of Helmet and Tool. Occasionally, vocalist Jonah Sonz Matranga oversings, and the band often concentrates on sonics at the expense of songs, but the best moments of Water & Solutions show that Far have carved out their own alterna-metal niche. It may not be as distinctive as the Deftones, but it has its own appeal.

Stones, Hendrix, and Tom Petty to legendary indie-rockers like Weezer, the Pixies, Dinosaur Jr.. Pavement, Superchunk, and Spoon to even left-of-center rap acts like A Tribe Called Quest, it's a record that ventures far beyond the clich'd constraints of the emo pigeonhole in which Piebald are so often mistakenly placed (note the jaunty piano romp Part Of Your Body Is Made Out Of Rock, the dream-rock sea-shanty All Senses Lost, or the twee, Shins-like powerpop of Giving Cup). Says Travis of Piebald's all-encompassing musical styles, We don't really feel we're an emo band; we're really more just like hippies that use distortion! Most of the time we're put in a category with emo bands, but we don't really hear the real connection. So we don't like that we're called that ' but then again, we don't really like that any band is called that.

Although All Ears was produced by Paul Q. Kolderie (Cave-In, Dinosaur Jr., fireHOSE, Hole, Pixies, Radiohead), Piebald were admittedly still worried about whether they could top their previous landmark effort, We Are The Only Friends We Have. You always want to like your new record more and feel that it's better than your last one, otherwise you wouldn't want to put it out, says Travis. But Paul was really excited about the new songs, and all the people at the studio were excited, and it felt like we were on the right track, even though we didn't know for sure. And in the end, I think we at least did comparably musically. You still get what you need from a Piebald record. It's different, but you still get sufficiently rocked.
