Toto are responsible for the best sounding albums in 80s rock. With top of the range studio facilities and musicians at hand, founders David Paich, Bobby Kimball, Steve Lukather and the Porcaro brothers know how to craft a song or two. Their fourth album, released in 1982, was aptly titled IV and contains world hits "Rosanna" and "Africa". Noteworthy contestants for 'best songs' on this legendary album are "Make Believe" and "I Won't Hold You Back", both of which have proven chart success. The band was unarguably at its peak. After recording IV, Toto's members returned to the studio in order to help write and record Michael Jackson's Thriller.1. Rosanna

MindfieldsMindelds is the 10th studio record by Toto, as originally released in 1999. The album saw the return of original Toto singer Bobby Kimball, who had left the band once their breakthrough album Toto IV was released back in 1982. Kimball and axe slinger Steve Lukather share lead vocals, dividing these duties approx 60/40.
As always with Toto, the playing is tight. What else would one expect from these veteran musicians? Apart from Lukather and Kimball, Toto in '99 consisted of David Paich (keyboards), Mike Porcaro (bass) and Simon Phillips (drums, who replaced original drummer Jeff Porcaro after his fatal heart attack in 1992). The record was nominated for a Grammy in the category Best Engineered Album, Non Classical.LP1

OceanaRecognized by many as the premiere rock keyboardist of his generation, Derek Sherinian has performed for millions via Black Country Communion (of which he is a current member alongside Glenn Hughes, Jason Bonham, Joe Bonamassa), Dream Theater, Alice Cooper, Buddy Miles and as an off-stage performer accompanying KISS. He also enjoyed tenures with Billy Idol, Yngwie Malmsteen and many others.
Favoring a guitar heavy rock based approach to fusion ala one of his musical heroes Jeff Beck, his newest release, Oceana once again displays the power and energy Sherinian creates in the studio, setting him apart from most jazz fusion ensembles in the process. He displays the rare combination of being a musical chameleon, while maintaining his signature style in no matter what genre he is playing in. With Oceana, the stage is set for Sherinians inspiration to be propelled in to the mainstream.
Sherinian has carved out a niche for himself in the progressive metal scene. He has attracted the best players on Earth to his solo album sessions, some of whom include luminaries Al DiMeola, Steve Lukather, Yngwie Malmsteen, Slash, John Petrucci, John Sykes and Zakk Wylde. With Oceana, again an assemblage of some of the most talented players to ever strap on a guitar join Sherinian in the studio.
Steve Lukather once again collaborated with the keyboardist for the tracks Mulholland, Euphoria and Seven Sins. Former Planet X guitarist and fusion legend Tony MacAlpine laid down performances for Five Elements and Mercury 7. The one and only Steve Stevens is featured on Ghost Runner and the title track Oceana. Black Country Communion band mate Joe Bonamassa makes an appearance as well on I Heard That, while Doug Aldrich performs on El Camino Diablo. Simon Phillips performs all drums on Oceana, while Jimmy Johnson laid down the bass on all tracks outside of Ghost Runner and the title track which features Tony Franklin.
The 1970s saw the creation of keyboard legends, when titans including Keith Emerson, Rick Wakeman and Jon Lord were superstars. It was a time when talent on the keys was not only appreciated, but celebrated in popular music. With Oceana, perhaps a rebirth is upon the precipice of change for the Santa Cruz-raised, Berklee School of Music educated Sherinian to witness a new dawn where keyboardists once again are heroes. Inevitably, it is only a matter of time before Sherinian is recognized as the premiere rock keyboardist of this generation.1. Five Elements

10X10Before his untimely death in 2012, renowned American rock guitarist Ronnie Montrose began recording an ambitious passion project with bassist Ricky Phillips (Styx, Bad English) and drummer Eric Singer (Kiss, Alice Cooper). The idea was to record 10 songs with 10 different singers and call the album 10X10. Sadly, Montrose was unable to see the album through during his lifetime. Instead, Phillips made it his mission to finish the songs by enlisting a small army of Ronnie's musician friends to record the vocals and the guitar solos for each song, completing the album in recent years.
Phillips says the songs represent some of Montrose's best work. "His songs still have the fire and angst of a young rebel, but with some added wisdom and foresight voiced in his own unique language of 'guitar-speak.' On 10X10, we hear Ronnie at the top of his game, from the opening crunch guitar of 'Heavy Traffic,' all the way to the closing song, 'I'm Not Lying,' which was Ronnie's tip of the hat to his friend Robin Trower."
10X10 features inspired pairings, like Deep Purple singer Glenn Hughes with Def Leppard guitarist Phil Collen ("Still Singin' With The Band") and singer Sammy Hagar with Toto guitarist Steve Lukather ("Color Blind"). Legendary blues guitarist Joe Bonamassa also showcases his guitar talents on the track "The Kingdom's Come Undone" with Ricky Phillips on vocals. A few artists both sing and play, like Edgar Winter ("Love Is An Art") and Tommy Shaw ("Strong Enough").
Several artists who appear on 10X10 had recorded with Ronnie during his career, like Edgar Winter, who included the guitarist on his 1972 album, They Only Come Out At Night. Sammy Hagar got his start singing with Montrose. Between 1973-75, he recorded two influential albums - Montrose and Paper Money - with the band and toured the world.
More than 40 years later, Hagar was among the first who agreed to help finish Ronnie's final album. "It's valuable to have 10X10 be seen as Ronnie's last work, rather than going and digging up some stuff from his past. This was something he truly had a vision for," says Hagar.1. Heavy Traffic Feat. Toto IV (Speakers Corner) (Out Of Stock)
Anyone who gives the dull name "Four" to their rock album must either be very sure of success or already have resigned. The group Toto may well have experienced such extremes as there was an enormous cleft between their amazing financial success and the crushing negative opinions voiced by the critics. Billboard criticised the superficial lyrics as being void of any sort of emotional weight while the Los Angeles Times aimed their fire at the musicians themselves, slamming them as dubious artists with a commercialised mentality.
To this Toto struck back with their fourth album, which was an unparalleled success and brought them six Grammy awards. For a whole ten months Africa reigned at Number 1 on the charts and together with the super-hit Rosanna the two smash hits were a constant presence, backed up by a collection of impressive rock classics. A trip to the record shop is all that is needed to prove that this is unlikely to change in the near future. The bright red cover with its depiction of a sword will catch your eye, as though saying: It's got to be the Fourth!

About Speakers Corner
At the beginning of the 90s, in the early days of audiophile vinyl re-releases, the situation was fairly straightforward. Companies such as DCC, Mobile Fidelity, Classic Records and, of course, Speakers Corner all maintained a mutual, unwritten ethical code: we would only use analogue tapes to manufacture records.
During the course of the present vinyl hype, many others have jumped on the bandwagon in the hope of securing a corner of the market. Very often they are not so ethical and use every imaginable source to master from: CDs, LPs, digital files, MP3s - or employed existant tools from the 80s and 90s for manufacturing.
A digital delay is gladly used when cutting a lacquer disc because tape machines with an analogue delay have become quite rare and are therefore expensive. When cutting the lacquer, the audio signal is delayed by one LP revolution against the signal, which controls the cutter head, and for this a digital delay is very often employed. Of course, the resultant sound signal is completely digital and thus only as good as this delay.
We should like to emphasise that Speakers Corner Records on principle only uses the original master tape as the basis for the entirely analogue cutting of lacquer discs. In addition, the pressing tool is newly manufactured as a matter of principle. We have one digital recording in our catalogue (Alan Parsons / Eye In The Sky"), but even in this particular case we used the analogue tapes for cutting.
We only employ existing tools for manufacturing if an improved result is not forthcoming, e.g. the title Elvis Is Back, which was mastered by Steve Hoffman and Kevin Gray, or several titles from our Philips Classics series, which in any case Willem Makkee cut from the original masters at the Emil Berliner Studios in the 90s. It goes without saying that we only used the mother and that new tools were made for our production.
To put it in a nutshell: we can ensure you that our releases are free from any kind of digital effects - excluding the exception above - and that the lacquer discs are newly cut.

Toto (Out Of Stock)Mastered by Joe Reagoso at Friday Music Studios and RTI with Kevin Gray!
While already having street credibility due to their years supporting a plethora of gold and platinum artists (Steely Dan, Boz Scaggs, Chicago), the debut album from Toto simply titled Toto catapulted the power quintet into major arena rock status as they accumulated a ton of hit singles and gold and platinum album awards on this 1979 masterpiece.
Upon its release, Toto flew into the upper rungs of the rock and pop music charts with the power rocker Hold The Line. Filled with its catchy hooks, brilliant vocal and guitar work from maestro Steve Lukather, and the familiar Bobby Kimball high energy lead vocals, this amazing debut single has become a classic rock staple.
Adding the stellar piano work from David Paich and Steve Porcaro, the song truly resonated with its huge audience, and broke wide open the importance of both the band and their great new album.
Produced by Toto (David Paich, Steve Lukather, Jeff Porcaro, Steve Porcaro, Bobby Kimball, David Hungate) Toto was a watershed venture for the band as its ten champion tunes have all truly stood the test of time. Aside from the massive top charting Hold The Line there were more classics abound like the follow up power rocker I'll Supply The Love, the soulful fare of Georgy Porgy featuring the great Cheryl Lynn on vocals, plus even more brillant album tracks like Angela, Rockmaker and Manuela Run.
The Friday Music Toto 180g audiophile vinyl series continues with the band's history making debut album Toto. Impeccably mastered from the original Columbia Records tapes by Joe Reagoso (Toto/Boz Scaggs/Hall & Oates/Doobie Brothers) this brilliant masterpiece is now finally available in the audiophile vinyl domain. For this special limited edition release, Friday is also including for the first time, the original album cover artwork in a gatefold format, which will truly enhance your hours of listening enjoyment.1.
