    The Long-Awaited Album

Rather than a departure, Martin's musical career is an extension of the storytelling impulse that drove his work as a comedian, an actor, a screenwriter, a playwright, an essayist, and a novelist.

'The Long-Awaited Album,' Steve Martin's brand new project with the North Carolina Grammy-winning group the Steep Canyon Rangers, is full of stories that mix humor and melancholy, whimsy and realism, rich characters and evocative details. And lots of banjos. That instrument-so dexterously, even acrobatically picked and strummed-proves just as crucial to relating these tales as the lyrics themselves, each chord and riff revealing depths to Martin's narrators and to his musical talent.

    Tell The Ones I Love

Coming off their 2012 Grammy-winning album, "Nobody Knows You, and this album proves to hold equal charisma and sharpness that brought their first
album so much success. They are currently touring with the widely popular Steve Martin and Edie Brickell. This has increased the bands fan base greatly. They have been playing to sold out venues with enthusiastic audiences. They have literally been bringing the house down and winning audiences over with their incredible musicianship and hard driving renditions of some of their own compositions in a set of their own. Yes, the Steep Canyon Rangers
have received widespread exposure & critical acclaim as Steve Martin's backing band, but anyone who knows the Steeps and has heard them play, know that it is Steve Martin who is THEIR celebrity! Even Steve would tell you that.

Along with winning the Grammy for their last album Nobody Know You(without Steve) they have also won multiple IBMA awards, including Entertainers of the Year. They will be the hosts of this year's IBMAs as they move to their new home on North Carolina. The Steep Canyon Rangers have very close ties with Steve Martin, and he hugely supportive of them plugging the band whenever possible. They have appeared with him on countless national television programs such as Late Night with David Letterman, The Tonight
show with Jay Leno, The View, The Today Show, plus many more.

Steep Canyon Rangers wanted Tell The Ones I Love to reflect the spirit of their concerts-an original, freewheeling, high-energy approach to bluegrass
that rests mainly on the songwriting of Graham Sharp and Charles Humphrey. They recorded the album almost entirely live, using few overdubs. While the Steep Canyon Rangers were certainly open to recording songs by other composers, or to dip into traditional material, Campbell ultimately had them record all original tunes, based both on the strength of the songs and the band's arrangements. A good decision all around.

    So Familiar

Highly anticipated follow up to these collaborators' debut album, actor, comedian, both Grammy winners! This bluegrass record was produced by Peter Asher. Many songs from this album will appear in an upcoming Broadway production.

I guess that this is the logical sequel to the first album, but it's also different in a lot of ways, Martin states. It sounds bigger and wider, and it has a lush feeling that I really like. I think that Edie's voice sounds beautiful with these arrangements, and I love the way the banjo sounds with strings. Peter really had a vision for this record, and he really came up with some wonderful things.

What Peter did was so beautiful, agrees Brickell. He has a great musical imagination, and he always surprises us. I'm so impressed by his ability to come up with things that feel grand and intimate at the same time. Peter has a really great ability to create something majestic and incorporate that into a traditional-sounding song.

    Briefcase Full Of Blues

Celebrate The New Year With Their Classic # 1 Mega Platinum Debut Album

    First Time Audiophile Vinyl Release

Mastered Impeccably From The Authorized & Original1978 Atlantic Records Tapes By Joe "i Got The Blues" Reagoso

After their phenomenal success on Saturday Night Live and a number of smash comedy movies already in
their resume, John Belushi and Dan Akroyd dove headfirst into their love of soul, blues and r & b and began
the Blues Brothers duo, netting them a number one album, top hit singles, a box office smash and acclaim
from purists and blues lovers from all over with their first LP, Briefcase Full Of Blues.

Recorded in 1978 at the Universal Amphitheater in Los Angeles, the late great John Belushi and Dan
Akroyd opened a set before comedian and good friend Steve Martin. To the crowd's amazement, the duo
blasted them a blistering rock 'n' blues performance which was captured on tape for their first album Briefcase
Full Of Blues. They later appeared on SNL and the rest as they say is history, as this stunt became reality in no
time and thus began a short lived but amazing piece of rock and blues history.

Released during the holiday season, the album became a number one smash and netted two smash singles
with the classic nod to the Stax sound with Sam & Dave's "Soul Man" as well as the '50s doo wop
    classic, "Rubber Biscuit."

With a stellar musician lineup of classic R & B and traditional blues purists like Steve Cropper and Duck
Dunn from Booker T. & The M.G.'s, Chess Records sideman to the stars Matt "Guitar " Murphy,
saxophone champion Tom Scott and a handful of New York City's finest on the reeds, rounded out with Paul
Shafer on keys, The Blues Brothers were a force to reckon with as their albums would go on to sell in the
millions making them one of the biggest bands in the late seventies into the eighties.

With a stunning set list of righteous blues and soulful interpretations, this masterpiece is filled with nonstop classics like the hard boppin' opener Hey Bartender, blues belters like Junior Wells' "Messin' With The
Kid" and Big Joe Turner's "Flip Flop Fly," plus southern rockers like Delbert McClinton's "'B" Movie Box Car
    Blues."

In addition to these legendary performances, this unique concert recording yielded more with powerhouses
like the smash I Don't Know, King Floyd's Groove Me, and the blues thriller Shot Gun Blues.

Friday Music is no stranger to the blues. Therefore, it is with much honor to announce the first installment
in our Blues Brothers 180 Gram Audiophile Vinyl Series with their brilliant masterwork Briefcase Full Of Blues.

For the first time ever on 180 Gram Vinyl, this limited edition classic was mastered impeccably and

    CA.

To enhance your Jake and Elwood experience even further, this stunning limited anniversary edition also

Rodrigo - Concierto Andaluz / Marriner - Academy of St. Martin in the Fields (Speakers Corner)

The frenetic applause with which both the public and the experts greeted the Concierto de Aranjuez for guitar and orchestra, composed in 1940, is certainly astounding - one would have thought that 20th-century music was dominated chiefly by composers of twelve-tone music and the avantguardists. Rodrigo, however, remained faithful to the Classical three-movement form, employed a late-Romantic orchestral colouring, and followed in the tradition of Spanish composers who, perhaps more than any others, won their inspiration from the folkmusic of their native country.

The whole work is full of the exotic magic of Spanish folkmusic, whereby the rhythmic drive of the first movement - reminiscent of clicking castanets - is particularly fascinating. Fortunately not only the composer but also the conductor and orchestra have taken care that the gentle tones produced by the world famous guitarist Pepe Romero are clearly to be heard.

In addition, the listener is treated to a performance of the rarely recorded Concierto Andaluz for four guitars, composed in 1967. Once again the Romeros demonstrate that they are not only amazingly virtuosic musicians but are also worthy dedicatees of this unique work.

Last but not least, PHILIPS balance engineers have produced a superb recording: Rodrigo himself was absolutely delighted with it - and this opinion one can well endorse.

    About Speakers Corner

At the beginning of the 90s, in the early days of audiophile vinyl re-releases, the situation was fairly straightforward. Companies such as DCC, Mobile Fidelity, Classic Records and, of course, Speakers Corner all maintained a mutual, unwritten ethical code: we would only use analogue tapes to manufacture records.

During the course of the present vinyl hype, many others have jumped on the bandwagon in the hope of securing a corner of the market. Very often they are not so ethical and use every imaginable source to master from: CDs, LPs, digital files, MP3s - or employed existant tools from the 80s and 90s for manufacturing.

A digital delay is gladly used when cutting a lacquer disc because tape machines with an analogue delay have become quite rare and are therefore expensive. When cutting the lacquer, the audio signal is delayed by one LP revolution against the signal, which controls the cutter head, and for this a digital delay is very often employed. Of course, the resultant sound signal is completely digital and thus only as good as this delay.

We should like to emphasise that Speakers Corner Records on principle only uses the original master tape as the basis for the entirely analogue cutting of lacquer discs. In addition, the pressing tool is newly manufactured as a matter of principle. We have one digital recording in our catalogue (Alan Parsons / Eye In The Sky"), but even in this particular case we used the analogue tapes for cutting.

We only employ existing tools for manufacturing if an improved result is not forthcoming, e.g. the title Elvis Is Back, which was mastered by Steve Hoffman and Kevin Gray, or several titles from our Philips Classics series, which in any case Willem Makkee cut from the original masters at the Emil Berliner Studios in the 90s. It goes without saying that we only used the mother and that new tools were made for our production.

To put it in a nutshell: we can ensure you that our releases are free from any kind of digital effects - excluding the exception above - and that the lacquer discs are newly cut.

This title is not eligible for discount.

    Sister Big Stuff

Grammy-nominated bluegrass sensation, The Steep Canyon Rangers proudly present their debut Rounder Records effort Nobody Knows You. Grammy nominated for their collaboration with icon Steve Martin, these personable young musicians are as Steve puts it, "not only great musicians who continue to explore both the new and old styles of bluegrass and bring a fresh energy to the traditions of American music, but they are also really fun on a bus."

Deft musicianship, impeccable songwriting, distinctive vocals, and creative arrangements are just some of the qualities that set The Steep Canyon Rangers apart from the rest of the pack. Unafraid to break the mold, whether taking the unexpected musical turn or bringing home the surprising lyric, it's no wonder that Martin chose them as just the right band to record and tour with. Nobody Knows You is the most adventurous and fully realized accomplishment The Steep Canyon Rangers have achieved to date.

Guitarist Woody Platt's take on Nobody Knows You to No Depression, I think this record is an obvious step for us if you were to go back and listen to all of our records in order. To me, Nobody Knows You has the most depth from start to finish, and I believe that it features our best songwriting to date.

He adds, Although it is a bluegrass album, and we are very proud to be a bluegrass band, there are elements of pop, honky-tonk, jazz and rock and roll all kind of mixed into the album. The variety of the record will hopefully enable us to reach a larger audience of music fans, and not limit it to only bluegrass fans. Compared to our previous discography, I'd say that this record has the best chance to have a broad appeal.

Long Awaited Reissue of the 1967 Debut by the Baroque Rock Legends Sourced from the Original Stereo Master Tapes

The work of the Left Banke has long been an elusive holy grail for vintage pop fanatics. The legendary baroque rock combos work ranks with the greatest American music of the 1960s, and remains beloved by discerning pop connoisseurs around the world. The Left Bankes 1967 debut album Walk Away RenÉe/Pretty Ballerina is widely regarded as one of the greatest debut albums of the 60s, thanks to frontman Steve Martins evocative lead vocals, the haunting harmonies of band members Tom Finn and George Cameron, the ambitious songwriting of keyboardist Michael Brown, and exquisite, classically-influenced arrangements that were unlike anything else in popular music at the time. Walk Away RenÉe, released the previous year as the bands first single, remains one of the eras most recognizable (and most-covered) standards. In addition to Walk Away RenÉe and its followup hit Pretty Ballerina, the album also features such memorable numbers as She May Call You Up Tonight, Barterers and Their Wives and Shadows Breaking Over My Head.

    Left Banke Too

Beloved 1968 Lost Classic Available Again After More Than 40 Years!

Sourced from the Original Stereo Master Tapes

The Left Banke was one of the most distinctive pop bands of the 60s, renowned for the unique baroque rock that allowed them to stand out during that heady musical era. While the bands 1967 debut album, and its signature hits Walk Away RenÉe and Pretty Ballerina have long been acknowledged as classics, the bands 1968 sophomore effort The Left Banke Too has maintained a persistent under-the-radar mystique, beloved by a loyal cadre of followers yet little-known by the general public.

The Left Banke Too emerged from a turbulent period of the bands brief but eventful history. Despite the success of their 1967 debut album Walk Away RenÉe/Pretty Ballerina, the Left Bankes lineup splintered soon after its release, with keyboardist and main songwriter Michael Brown exiting the group. His former bandmates Steve Martin, Tom Finn and George Cameron regrouped and rose to the occasion for The Left Banke Too, crafting a musically inventive, emotionally evocative set thats every bit as magnificent as its predecessor.

The trios exquisite vocal interplay and adventurous songwriting are prominent on such intoxicating tracks as Theres Gonna Be a Storm, Goodbye Holly, Dark Is the Bark and the Brown-penned Desiree, which is widely regarded as one of the groups greatest studio achievements. Several of The Left Banke Toos tracks also feature backing vocals by a young Steven Tyler, several years before he achieved stardom with Aerosmith.

This lost classic is once again available on 180 gram vinyl LP and has been sourced from the original stereo master tapes.

Rock Art & The X-Ray Style

Rock Art and the X-Ray Style is the debut album by Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros, released in 1999. This album featured the band in its first incarnation: Joe Strummer and Antony Genn on guitar and vocals, Martin Slattery playing keyboards and guitar, Steve Smiley Barnard on drums, Pablo Cook on other percussion instruments, and Scott Shields on bass. Richard Flack also did engineering on the album. The record marked Strummer's re-emergence from a long absence in the music scene, his last record being 1989's Earthquake Weather. The album begins with Tony Adams, a track which sounds not unlike Strummer's previous work with The Clash. Saxophone riffs are juxtaposed with reggae inspired guitar, as Strummer recites lyrics detailing a catastrophe hitting New York City. The rest of the record takes a winding journey, with songs that capture Strummer's genre mixing.

Glen Campbell: I'll Be Me Soundtrack

Honored in 2012 with the GRAMMY Lifetime Achievement Award, Country Music Hall of Fame member Glen Campbell has recorded his last song.
I'm Not Gonna Miss You was written by Campbell and Julian Raymond specifically for a new documentary titled GLEN CAMPBELL: I LL BE ME. Produced by Raymond, the song was recorded in the Los Angeles-based Sunset Sound Factory and East West Recording Studios.

With a mere handful of piano chords, then a swell of harmonies, I m Not Gonna Miss You opens into the poignant, yet clear-eyed revelation of the things Alzheimer s steals. Almost lumbering through the melody, Campbell s weathered tenor confesses the painful truths of what is lost, the cost and the reality that it will all be lost to him, the man who can t remember. Pedal steel weeps, strings bathe the melody that rises against drums and an electric guitar that mirrors the unbreakable passage of life and time.

GLEN CAMPBELL: I LL BE ME is an epic human drama that intimately showcases the man and his music throughout Campbell s struggle with Alzheimer s. Chronicling the story of love, laughter, resilience and power of song, this film shows how against all odds, America s greatest country star would not give up. Directed and produced by James Keach (producer of Walk The Line) and produced by Trevor Albert (Groundhog Day).

Big Machine Records will proudly release a soundtrack for the film that also features The Band Perry, who previously paid tribute to Campbell during the 2012 GRAMMY Awards. The project also features Campbell s daughter Ashley who performs an original song.

We are so honored to not only release Glen Campbell s final recording, but to be associated with such a profound film that will help raise awareness of those suffering from Alzheimer s and spotlight the important role of those who care for them, remarked Big Machine Label Group President & CEO Scott Borchetta who serves as the project s Executive Producer with Keach.

Additionally, several of today s biggest musical stars appear in the film to pay tribute to the legend including Bruce Springsteen, Bill Clinton, The Edge (from U2), Paul McCartney, Jay Leno, Vince Gill, Jimmy Webb, Taylor Swift, Blake Shelton, Sheryl Crow, Keith Urban, Brad Paisley, Steve Martin, Chad Smith, and The Band Perry.

When Swedish drummer Martin Lopez (ex-OPETH, AMON AMARTH) joined forces with metal bassist extraordinaire Steve DiGiorgio (SADUS,
TESTAMENT, DEATH, ICED EARTH), vocalist Joel Ekelöf and guitarist Kim Platbarzdis in a brand new project called SOEN, it was obvious that this
collaboration would not be just another name-dropping, substance-deprived "super project".

Martin Lopez has described the band's music as melodic, heavy, intricate and different. Even then, Lopez may be selling his band short. SOEN is, in a
    word, unique.

More than just a sum of is rather esteemed parts, SOEN weave an intricate network of melodies and lull the listener submerged in a bliss of melancholy.

...The music on "Avery County, I'm Bound To You" was played by a fantastic and diverse group of characters. The rhythm
section is Matt Weiner (Blue4Trio, Hot Club Of Cowtown) on upright and electric bass and Dan Peters (Mudhoney,
Screaming Trees, Nirvana .briefly) on drums.

The horn and woodwind section were made up of Hans Teuber (Bill Frisell, Wayne Horvitz, Ani Difranco) and Steve
Moore (Jim White, Earth, sunn0))), Laura Veirs). These two multi-instrumentalists covered a lot of sonic territory with
flute, piccolo, alto flute, clarinet, trombone, Wurlitzer and Hammond Organ.

And we did our best to keep our roots with a few local Folk and Old Time players: Charlie Beck on banjo, Nova Devonie
on accordion, and Jakob Breitbach on fiddle.

The production team was veteran producer Martin Feveyear (Mark Lanegan, Jesse Sykes, Hey Marseilles, Mudhoney,
etc) and Matt Weiner who produced my 2010 release, Together You and I...

    Natural Light (Pure Pleasure)

Natural Light by Eric Bibb is as strong as his previous efforts and produced once again by his longtime bassist Dave Bronze. Eric's voice and guitar playing shines all over whether he's doing a solo acoustic number as in Champagne Habits and the beautiful Lucky Man' Rag where he is joined by a wasboard player, or in the full band numbers such as the cover of the sixties Jackie Wilson hit Higher And Higher. Other favourites include the jazzy Home Lovin' Man where Janne Petersson's piano really stands out, the gospel of Right On Time and Tell Riley, a song about Bukka White and his cousin Riley B.(B.) King. There's even a guest appearence by Hubert Sumlin, the late Howlin Wolf's guitarist, who plays a solo on Too Much Stuff. Most of the songs are self-penned by Eric Bibb with wise storytelling and witty lyrics but there are some covers tastefully arranged including Randy Newman' ballad Every Time It Rains.

    Musicians:

    • Eric Bibb (vocal, guitar)

    • Janne Petersson (piano, organ, accordian)

    • Dave Bronze (bass)

    • Hubert Sumlin, Steve Donnelly (guitar)

    • Simon Clarke, Roddy Lorimer, Tim Sanders (horns)

    • Henry Spinetti (drums)

    • Martin Ditcham, Bjorn Gideonsson (drums, percussion)

Recording: 2003 at Intimate Studios, London, by Troy Hermes / Warehouse Studios, Oxford, by Steve Watkins / Tonczone Studios, Kent, by Richard Studholme / Leon C Studios, Southend, by Dave Bronze

    About Pure Pleasure

At the beginning of the 90s, in the early days of audiophile vinyl re-releases, the situation was fairly straightforward. Companies such as DCC, Mobile Fidelity, Classic Records and, of course, Pure Pleasure all maintained a mutual, unwritten ethical code: we would only use analogue tapes to manufacture records.

During the course of the present vinyl hype, many others have jumped on the bandwagon in the hope of securing a corner of the market. Very often they are not so ethical and use every imaginable source to master from: CDs, LPs, digital files, MP3s - or employed existent tools from the 80s and 90s for manufacturing.

We should like to emphasize that Pure Pleasure Records on principle only uses the original master tape as the basis for the entirely analogue cutting of lacquer discs. In addition, the pressing tool is newly manufactured as a matter of principle.

To put it in a nutshell: we can ensure you that our releases are free from any kind of digital effects and that the lacquer discs are newly cut.

    Works For Tomorrow

Since first hitting the road in a battered Econoline van in the 1980s, Eleventh Dream Day continues to build on their history by moving forward musically, while never forgetting what inspired them. On Works For Tomorrow, core band members Rick Rizzo, Janet Beveridge Bean, Mark Greenberg, and Douglas McCombs are joined by James Elkington (Tweedy, Steve Gunn), marking the first time the band has recorded with a second guitarist since 1994. Elkington's addition has unleashed the band's strengths. The ferocious and visceral interplay between Rizzo and Elkington charge the band with a joyous exuberance that sweeps the listener in for the 43 minutes of Works For Tomorrow. The album also features performances by long time friend Martin Wenk (Calexico) and Chicago stalwart Rich Parenti on horns. Eleventh Dream Day is known for their raw, inexhaustible live performances. They honed the songs on Works For Tomorrow during an extended residency at Chicago's Hideout Club, and the packed, sweaty energy of those shows is unmistakable on this new recording. Drummer and sometime lead vocalist Janet Beveridge Bean breaks free as never before, her vocals igniting the songs with an animalistic urgency, as she furiously propels the songs with pure command from behind the kit. Works For Tomorrow was recorded and mixed by Greenberg at the Loft (Wilco's studio) and Mayfair Recordings. The 10 tracks on the album center on embracing a future which does not succumb to the past, but challenges it in order to adapt and grow. This reframing and understanding of history is keenly stated in the album's title track when Rizzo sings, "You see her, this must be the beginning or the end of whatever that was." From the reimagined, deliberate version of Judy Henske and Jerry Yester's "Snowblind," to the quieter, melodic tracks like "Deep Lakes," Eleventh Dream Day's fiery performances and inventive arrangements make for the most complex and compelling record of their career. Works For Tomorrow finds the band fixed on the road ahead, barreling toward the horizon with the radio turned up -- way, way up.

    Friends (Pure Pleasure)

Friends is the accurate and revealing title for New York bluesman Eric Bibb's tenth album since 1997. The cuts here feature rootsy folk and blues collaborations with different 'friends' in differing small group settings. The set starts with a killer acoustic slide duet between Bibb and Guy Davis on the nugget 99 ½ Won't Do. The contrast between Davis' sweet and smoky delivery and Bibb's husky wail - akin to Blind Willie Johnson's in places - offers a double-sided dimension in interpretation for the listener, as well. Elsewhere, Charlie Musselwhite gives a killer snaky harmonica performance on Six O' Clock Blues. Taj Mahal makes two appearances; one in a duet on Goin' Down Slow, and one in a trio with Bibb and Malian guitarist Djelimady Tounkara on a medley of the traditional Kulanjan and Bibb's own Sebastian's Tune. Speaking of Mali, and Mahal, Bibb also covers the elder bluesman's classic Lovin' in My Baby's Eyes, with the great kora player Mamadou Diabate that rivals the original. There's also a gorgeous version of Guy and Susanna Clark's The Cape, with guitarist Martin Simpson, Bibb's moving For You with Ruthie Foster, and Tain't No Such Thing, a bright new folk song written and sung with legendary folksinger Odetta. Mohan Veena ace Harry Manx performs with Bibb on the high lonesome, droning blues of Needed Time, and with Kristina Olsen on her If I Stayed. The set closes with the tender Dance Me to the End of Love, (an original, not the Leonard Cohen tune) with the Lovin' Spoonful Jerry Yester playing piano. Given that most records of this type are mixed bags at best, with 'star-studded' collabs serving to muck up or water down rather than enhance performances, Friends is an anomaly. There is nothing that's obvious or overblown here, everything is subtly shaded, and the performers serve the songs and not themselves. The listener gets no sense of back-patting or self-congratulation, only the great pleasure of hearing this music in a revealing, emotionally honest way. Bravo.

    Christine Perfect (Pure Pleasure)

In 1976, Sire Records issued the first U.S. release of what had been a mega-import of the Blue Horizon 1970 U.K. release, an album called simply Christine Perfect, the maiden name of Christine McVie. You don't need a crystal ball to tell you the album is classic and tremendous - the big surprise is that it didn't go multi-platinum in the States. There are 12 tracks, and I'd Rather Go Blind went Top Ten in the U.K. It deserved to, but there's more here than the very good reading of the Etta James hit that I'd Rather Go Blind was. When You Say has strings and production that sound hauntingly like a Marianne Faithful track on London or Nico's work on Immediate.

    The Yellow Princess (Pure Pleasure)

This particular John Fahey LP is a personal favourite of many of his devout fans for several reasons. And although such a judgment is tough, if one were looking to own only one album by this unique guitarist, The Yellow Princess could be the one. The recording sound is among the best of his many releases; at the proper volume, the effect is as if one had taken up residency inside the sound hole of a giant acoustic guitar. The program of pieces is marvellously emotional and varied, with many moments of precisely stated harmonies moving at courageously slow tempos. The second piece on the first side, View (East from the Top of the Riggs Road/B&O Trestle), is surely one of his masterpieces, on a par with Charles Ives for musical Americana. It is a great added bonus to have liner notes by the artist, some of the best and most absurd text he ever came up with. Yet another reason this is one of Fahey's top sides is it allows a chance to hear one of his few collaborations with other musicians. Several members of the fine rock group Spirit are present, along with drummer Kevin Kelley, for several lovely pieces, including the March! For Martin Luther King, a remarkably heartfelt tribute that could have gone on much longer. Taped sounds and electronic effects on The Singing Bridge of Memphis, Tennessee certainly predict the more noisy stuff Fahey would get into in the later part of his career.

    Musicians:

    Kaleidoscope of Rainbow (Pure Pleasure)

This album became infamous for it's supremely original music, but also for it's impeccable engineering by Martin Levan. On the original single LP the sound quality had to be compromised to enable the inclusion of 27 minutes of music per side. Much of the bass and stereo effect was removed.

Now as a double LP and mastering from the original master analogue tapes all of the 'missing' bass and stereo effect is here for all to savour and enjoy.
At the time of it's original release in September 1976 it received critical acclaim across the full spectrum of the days music aficionados.

Listening to it today there is no reason to doubt it's continuing worth as an outstanding work of art and a lasting testament to Neil Ardley who sadly passed away.

Imaginary Cities is the recording premiere of saxophonist Chris Potter s new Underground Orchestra. At the core of this larger ensemble is the personnel of his long-established Underground quartet with Adam Rogers, Craig Taborn and Nate Smith now joined by two bassists, a string quartet, and Potter s old comrade from Dave Holland Quintet days, vibes and marimba man Steve Nelson. The title composition is a suite, panoramic in its reach, with movements subtitled Compassion , Dualities , Disintegration and Rebuilding . The scope of the work, and its contrasting moods and thematic development, inspire some of Potter s finest playing. His saxes fly high above his idealized cityscapes or launch into dialogues or group improvising with its gifted inhabitants. Four further pieces Lament , Firefly , Sky and Shadow Self extend the feeling of the suite, successfully combining both tightly written material and very open areas involving all members of the orchestra. References are multi-idiomatic and multicultural, and Potter, who counts Charlie Parker with Strings amongst his formative enthusiasms, had Arabic and Indian string sections in mind, as well as contemporary composition, when shaping this material. Imaginary Cities was recorded in December 2013 in New York s Avatar Studio and produced by Manfred Eicher. Release of the album is followed by US performances with the Underground Orchestra in New York and San Francisco.

    Blow By Blow

1975 was a magical year for Jeff Beck. Already a rock superstar from his ground breaking guitar work with The Yardbirds, Jeff Beck Group and Beck Bogert and Appice, Beck's Blow By Blow was a total artistic leap into new musical territory which netted the guitar hero massive acclaim.

Produced by the legendary George Martin, Blow By Blow features nine smokin' tracks of instrumental genius as only Jeff Beck could provide. Smokin' originals like You Know What I Mean, Air Blower and Scatterbrain have all become standards in the rock/jazz fusion world, as his beautiful cover of Steve Wonder's Cause We've Ended Now As Lovers illustrates even further the depth, technique and originality of Jeff Beck's guitar artistry.

With stellar musicians like Max Middleton (keyboards), Phil Chenn (bass), and Richard Bailey (drums/percussion), plus beautiful string arrangements by George Martin, Beck and Co. truly delivered a historic masterpiece with this classic album.

Friday Music proudly releases Jeff Beck's Blow By Blow for the first time on 180g Audiophile Vinyl. Reissue produced from the original Epic Records tapes by Joe Reagoso and pressed at RTI with Sony Music, this limited edition album will be one of the most important audiophile events of this year.

Marcos Valle celebrates his 50th career anniversary as a songwriter, arranger, instrumentalist and singer with Stacey Kent's sweet American voice. Recorded at Miranda, in Rio de Janeiro, the performances here also have the special participation of Jim Tomlinson on saxophone. Each track on this LP presents an aspect of Marcos Valle's various musical facets, mixing genres and rhythms, placing Pop, Jazz, Bossa Nova, World Music, and MPB music side by side. Stacey Kent, one of the most prominent jazz singers in the world, lends her voice to songs like "Summer Samba (Samba de Vero)", "If You Went Away (Preciso Aprender a Ser Só)", "The Face I Love (Seu Encanto)", "Look Who's Mine (Dia de Vitória)" and many other of Marcos' classics. Highly recommended.

We should like to emphasize that Pure Pleasure Records on principle only uses the original master tape as the basis for the entirely analogue cutting of lacquer discs. In addition, the pressing tool is newly manufactured as a matter of principle.

To put it in a nutshell: we can ensure you that our releases are free from any kind of digital effects and that the lacquer discs are newly cut.

The Boy Next Door (Pure Pleasure)

Ms Kent's album, The Boy Next Door, is a heartfelt and reverent tribute to her musical heroes, which include legendary crooners Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin, octogenarian jazz master Dave Brubeck and Manhattan cabaret doyen Bobby Short. The stylish jazz chanteuse's repertoire also finds her working outside the Great American Songbook for the first time, with contributions from latter-day pop songwriters Burt Bacharach, Paul Simon and Carole King. Ms Kent puts her own indelible stamp on each number as she weaves her magic on a delectable collection of pop-jazz standards that encompass infatuation, seduction, love, loss and reminiscence.

Ms Kent receives impeccable support from her sleek, urbane jazz quintet, whose rhythmic fluency is further enhanced by the tasteful, literate arrangements. Newton and Tomlinson, both accomplished musicians in their own right, also display hitherto unknown musical talents as they join Curtis Schwartz to provide tongue-in-cheek backing vocals for Ms Kent's deliciously bouncy rendition of Ooh-Shoo-Be-Doo-Bee.
