OVSE-MOV-1642xStevie Ray Vaughan
The Grammy Award Winning album In Step is Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Troubles fourth studio, originally released in 1989. Stevie Ray had recently become sober, after years of drug and alcohol abuse. This is a recurring theme on the album.
The response to In Step was very positive. Allmusic rated In Step 5 out of 5 stars claiming it's fully realized, presenting every facet of Vaughan's musical personality, yet it still soars with a sense of discovery... and Lou Reed selected In Step as one of his picks in 1989. While the album reached number 33 in the Billboard 200, the single Crossfire reached number 1 in the Mainstream Rock Chart.
Unfortunately In Step proved to be Stevie Rays last album with Double Trouble before his untimely death, caused by a helicopter crash, in 1990.1. The House Is Rockin'

The Sky Is Crying (200 Gram Vinyl)200-Gram Vinyl Pressed At Quality Record Pressings
All-Analog Mastering By Ryan K. Smith At Sterling Sound From The Original Tapes
Deluxe Tip-On Gatefold Jacket From Stoughton Printing
"The new remastering sounds amazing. Better than it ever did. I'm happy and pleasantly surprised."
-Chris "Whipper" Layton, Double Trouble drummer
"This is visceral, hair-raising stuff."
-Andy Aledort, senior editor of Guitar World
"These recordings have never sounded this good, and likely will never sound better. Layers seem to have been stripped away, and the music seems to have been set free. Vaughan's guitar has new bite and edge...sonically, all questions have now been answered..."
-Robert Baird, Stereophile
The Sky Is Crying was released after SRV's 1990 helicopter crash that took his life. The posthumously assembled 10-track outtakes collection actually proves to be one of Vaughan's most consistent albums, rivaling In Step as the best outside of the Greatest Hits collection. These songs were recorded in sessions spanning from 1984's Couldn't Stand the Weather to 1989's In Step and were left off of the LPs for whatever reason (or, in the case of Soul to Soul's "Empty Arms," a different version was used).
What makes the record work is its eclectic diversity - Vaughan plays slide guitar on "Boot Hill" and acoustic on "Life By The Drop"; he smokes on the slow blues of "May I Have a Talk With You" and the title track just as much as on the up-tempo Lonnie Mack cover, "Wham"; and he shows the jazzy side of his playing on Hendrix's "Little Wing" and Kenny Burrell's "Chitlins Con Carne."

Featuring Dr. John & Jimmie Vaughan
Available On Vinyl For The First Time!
Live at Carnegie Hall is a live Texas blues album by Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble, released in 1997. The concert was recorded at New York City's Carnegie Hall on October 4, 1984, a day after Vaughan's thirtieth birthday (leading to Vaughan's description of the show as My best birthday ever ... forever).
Special guests included drummer George Rains, Dr. John on keyboards, the Roomful of Blues horn section, brother Jimmie Vaughan on guitar, and vocalist Angela Strehli. This was the first and only time in the band's history that the trio was expanded.
The set list was in large part Vaughan's personal, private, tribute to his role models; he played tunes by Guitar Slim, Albert Collins, and Albert King, all musicians who never got to perform in the legendary concert hall. The album charted on the Billboard 200, and was the #1 Blues album for eight weeks.LP 1

Stevie Ray Vaughan's third studio album Soul To Soul was released in 1985, just two years after his massive debut Texas Flood. Moving more into a soulful R&B-tinged blues sound, Stevie included two new band members on keyboard and saxophone for Soul To Soul.

In The Beginning (200 Gram Vinyl)
Mastered From The Original Tapes By Ryan Smith At Sterling Sound
200-Gram Pressing By Quality Record Pressings
With his astonishingly accomplished guitar playing, Stevie Ray Vaughan ignited the blues revival of the '80s. Vaughan drew equally from bluesmen like Albert King, Otis Rush and Hubert Sumlin and rock 'n' roll players like Jimi Hendrix and Lonnie Mack, as well as the stray jazz guitarist like Kenny Burrell, developing a uniquely eclectic and fiery style that sounded like no other guitarist, regardless of genre.
Before the Montreaux Jazz Festival, before Bowie's Let's Dance album, before Texas Flood, before the Grammys, before the cocaine and alcohol abuse, before the redemption of sobriety, before the joyful In Step and Family Style ..... before August 27, 1990..... before the all-star tributes, before The Legendary Stevie Ray Vaughan......
There was an unknown, hardworking 24-year-old gunslinger named Little Stevie Vaughan, learning his craft the hard way in the trenches of the Austin Texas clubs, trying his darndest to get out of the shadow of his famous older brother Jimmie.
It wouldn't be long.
Anyone lucky enough to have been in the audience at this early live show, on April Fools Day in 1980, could have told you that. Young Stevie Vaughan (he had yet to become Stevie Ray) blasted the hometown crowd with a style that was already very well-formed. With Chris Layton on drums and bassist Jackie Newhouse (Tommy Shannon would join up a year later), his basic sound was already in place, albeit still in need of some polishing.
Taken from the surviving two-track master, Vaughan's guitar is raw and in your face every note of the way. His takes on Freddie King's In the Open and the lengthy Tin Pan Alley are the real highlights here.
As we did with our vaunted box set reissues, Texas Hurricane, again Analogue Productions is bringing you the finest-sounding Stevie Ray Vaughan collections ever preserved on 200-gram vinyl. Ryan Smith at Sterling Sound cut the lacquers for the LPs using the ultimate VMS 80 cutting lathe. Gary Salstrom handled the plating and the vinyl was pressed of course at Quality Record Pressings.
There's not a link in this chain that wasn't absolute first-rate. The absolute best that money can buy. We're passionate about the blues AND Stevie Ray and the passion shows up here in spades.

REDI-SUN-5333xR. Stevie Moore
PhonographyPhonography was lo-fi legend R. Stevie Moores first vinyl release only 100 copies were pressed in 1976. The album (including a slightly larger 1978 pressing) barely earned the artist lunch money. But Phonography has since become the cornerstone of the Do-It-Yourself movement, while establishing Moore as the Granddaddy of home recording. Both Rolling Stone and Spin have proclaimed it one of the most influential independent releases of the past 50 years. Phonography was recorded by a self-taught control-freak, using cheap, malfunctioning analog equipment. Robert Steven Moore was born in 1952, in Nashville. His dad, veteran bassist/producer Bob Moore, taxied between sessions for major stars (including Elvis Presley). But Stevie preferred Brit Invasion, Zappa, Brian Wilsons idiosyncratic arrangements, and outliers like the Shaggs. At the urging of his supportive uncle, Harry Palmer, he moved to New Jersey in 1976.
The Phonography material was recorded by this one-man virtual band at home between 1974 and 1976 with a pair of analog open-reel stereo decks and no multi-tracking equipment. Moore built songs starting with a rhythm track (e.g., played on drums, furniture, or boxes), upon which he layered instrumental and vocal tracks in a primitive sound-on-sound technique. Multiple generations of sound caused frequency loss and sonic distortion the embodiment of lo-fi but these are charming artifacts that dont obscure the brilliance of the compositions and Moores masterful music eccentricities. Moore and Palmer culled the top-tier songs, which were interspersed with spoken word, audio veritÉ, and radio snippets to create a program effect. The song styles were eclectic, reflecting Stevies omnivorous music appetite: hard rock, sweet ballads, Britpop, guitar raves, glam, and Zappa-esque weirdness. The album laid the foundation for Moores four-decade underground career.
He has self-released hundreds of albums on each successive eras format du jour (cassette, LP, CD, digital download). Hes had vinyl and CD compilations produced worldwide on two dozen indie labels. For a songwriter with a massive catalog of prime material, Moores revenue stream has barely afforded him the luxury of replacing gear plagued by worn-out switches. Yet most of the surviving labels who turned deaf ears to R. Stevie Moore are now, like him, struggling to make a buck on their catalogs. Their corner-office execs come and go. R. Stevie Moore is still here. And Phonography is back.1. Melbourne
