OVSE-MOV-628xThe Stone Roses
Turns Into StoneThe Stone Roses were the leaders of the Britain's late eighties' Madchester scene, merging Pop, Dance and Indie Rock in a seemingly effortless manner. Their sound resonated with a number of bands that followed The Stone Roses in their footsteps: the Charlatans UK and Happy Mondays among others. When released in 1992, Turns Into Stone functioned as a sop to Stone Roses fans expecting another smash album like their eponymous debut album from 1989. Silvertone Records released Turns Into Stone as a comprehensive collection of early Stone Roses material, hits and B-sides of exceptional quality. Includes their biggest hit Fools Gold.1. Country LifeRanked 387/500 on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.
Country Life is Roxy Music's second release after the departure of Brian Eno and it's arguably the highpoint of the band's ouput from that era. The haunting, melancholic The Thrill of It All, the art-rockin' Out of the Blue, the almost-pure '50s rock of If It Takes All Night, the decadent affectations of A Really Good Time and the concluding Prairie Rose, all offer glimpses of alternative rock before the genre even existed. The combination of textures is exhilarating, and the songwriting which draws on elements of R&B, cabaret music and glam rock is among the band's most accomplished. Vessel Of LoveHollie Cook combines her unique vocal talent with charming charisma to craft her own dynamic strand of lovers rock with enduring tropical vibes, weaving a path from her West London roots to an arena of diverse collaborations, critically acclaimed records, and iconic live appearances around the world. Cook's ability to continually surprise, delight, and progress solidifies her position as one of the most exciting voices in reggae, and this is crystal clear on her third full-length and Merge debut, Vessel of Love.
Cook's music career commenced early when family friend and punk trailblazer Ari Up asked Cook, age 19 at the time, to join the raucous '70s feminist UK post-punk outfit The Slits for their reformation in 2006. She thrived on being thrown into the deep end and quickly cut her teeth with four years of back-to-back shows around the globe. Her talents recognized and nurtured, she then released her first solo album Hollie Cook in 2011, with a revered 2012 dub album follow-up, while singles such as "Milk & Honey" and "That Very Night" gained support from influential radio stations across Europe. After performing at The Stone Roses concert at Manchester's Heaton Park at the personal request of Ian Brown, and her hypnotic performance on the prestigious Later With Jools Holland, the way was paved for Hollie's solo career to take off.
For someone who claimed "it's hard for a band to really stand out and shake up the world," Cook was certainly making a good go of proving herself wrong. By the end of 2014, Jamie T had requested her support for his Alexandra Palace show and featured her on his track "They Told Me It Rained." Cook had also unleashed Twice via Mr. Bongo Records, and with Mike "Prince Fatty" Pelanconi once again aiding in the album's conception, Cook confidently delivered with her follow-up to a well-received debut. In the wake of another successful release, Hollie hit the road with both The Skints and Protoje, and lent her vocal talent to Quantic's "Shuffle Them Shoes" single, which also featured on his 1000 Watts album.
Acclaimed legendary producer Martin "Youth" Glover is Cook's most recent collaborator, lending his venerable production expertise to Vessel of Love. His success with Killing Joke is only surpassed by his enduring reputation as one of the most prolific producers in the UK. "I'm very honored to work with Hollie, one of the most exciting emerging singers and writers over the last ten years," says Glover. Hollie Cook sits in good company on his impressive production list, joining the likes of Paul McCartney, Tom Jones, The Verve, Primal Scream, Pink Floyd, and Depeche Mode. Glover describes Cook's songs as "sharp lyrical observations and clever word play combined with an exquisite and informed pop sensibility," and they are only elevated by Glover's production on Vessel of Love, in particular the singles "Survive" and "Freefalling" as well as deeper cuts like "Ghostly Fading" and "Together."1. Chicken Skin Music (Pre-Order)
Give Yourself Goosebumps: Ry Cooder's Cross-Cultural Chicken Skin Music Mixes Hawaiian, Gospel, Conjunto, Folk, and Blues Styles into a Visionary Roots-Music Tapestry
Mastered from the Original Master Tapes, Pressed at RTI, and Strictly Limited to 3000 Numbered Copies: Natural-Sounding 180g Vinyl LP Features Defined Textures, Intricate Details, Ample Airiness
The title of Ry Cooder's Chicken Skin Music - Hawaiian slang for goosebumps - serves as a direct, simple description of the album's emotional appeal. But it barely scratches the surface of a 1976 effort that triggered an interest in world music a decade before the term became commonplace and a genre into and of itself. Part of a series of inimitable mid-1970s records on which Cooder ignored traditional boundaries and instigated lasting cross-cultural communication, Chicken Skin Music blends gospel, Hawaiian, folk, blues, and Tex-Mex styles into a brilliant roots stew distinguished with virtuosic playing and inspired contextual surprises.
Mastered from the original master tapes, pressed at RTI, and strictly limited to 3000 numbered copies, Mobile Fidelity's 180g vinyl LP of Chicken Skin Music brings the brilliant instrumental textures and lively tonalities to the fore like no prior analog edition. Graced with silent, black backgrounds and generous soundstages, this reissue particularly underscores the depth of Flaco Jimenez's accordion contributions. You'll hear the air flowing through the reeds, pressure resonating from the bellows, and the wide-spanning timbres emanating from the register stops.
Equally transfixing are the lifelike manners in which the rich assortment of guitars come alive, with each note occupying its own space and portraying a character unique to the individual instrument, be it a slack-key, steel, or acoustic guitar. The result is a multi-detailed, organic-sounding musical tapestry that dazzles by way of beautiful interplay, unexpected dialogue, and connective eclecticism that proves music is indeed a common language when executed with a collaborative mindset, innovative exploration, and respectful authenticity - no easy feats, but achievements fully on display on Chicken Skin Music.
Jimenez, now a legend that's performed with everyone from the Rolling Stones to Dr. John, remains one of the keys to Cooder being able to successfully carry out what the latter deemed a mutuality in music vision. Cooder first heard conjunto accordion fare on a Mexican radio station in his car and proceeded to teach himself the instrument while committing himself to embracing the then-local, regionalized style for the set that became Chicken Skin Music. Jimenez graces three tracks, including a ravishing interpretation of Ben E. King's Stand by Me transformed into a spiritual grounded by a norteno structure and a romantic take on Jim Reeves' He'll Have to Go recast with a bolero rhythm and saxophone-accordion duet.
Chicken Skin Music isn't limited to South of the Border geography and tradition. Steel-guitarist and vocalist Gabby Pahinui and slack-key guitar great Atta Isaacs represent the 50th state on stripped-down renditions of Hank Snow's smash Yellow Roses and the wordless Chloe. Elsewhere, gospel singers team with Cooder on the Appalachian-tinted Always Lift Them Up, the midsection of which features the Hawaiian standard Kanaka Wai Wai.
Cooder bookends everything with a pair of Leadbelly numbers - The Bourgeois Blues and Goodnight Irene - chosen after the headliner witnessed Jimenez and his band perform at a local dance. Given their ordering on the album, techniques they employ, and themes, the songs also further tighten the thematic connection the headliner makes with the standout guests. In many ways, Chicken Skin Music is the equivalent of Buena Vista Social Club more than 20 years before the latter emerged. Experience it the way Cooder and company meant it to be heard - in unparalleled fidelity.

117 Degrees (1998) is the second studio album by former Guns N' Roses guitarist Izzy Stradlin, and his first musical work not released under a band name. The album picks up right where The Ju Ju Hounds left off, offering a set of 14 bluesy hard rockers in the vein of Chuck Berry, the Stones, the Faces, Aerosmith, and Guns N'Roses
117 Degrees features appearances from Stradlin's former Guns N' Roses bandmate Duff McKagan and former Ju Ju Hounds' bandmate Rick Richards, also ex-of The Georgia Satellites. The tracks "Memphis, Tennessee" and "Good Enough" feature the Ju Ju Hounds lineup, as the songs were recorded by the band before breaking up.

OVSE-MOV-1430xSly & The Family Stone
A Whole New ThingA Whole New Thing is the debut album of Sly and the Family Stone, released in 1967. Unlike later Sly and the Family Stone albums, A Whole New Thing was recorded live in the studio instead of being overdubbed and featured less of a Pop feel than later releases such as Dance to the Music and Stand!. The lead vocals are shared between Sly Stone, Freddie Stone, and Larry Graham; Rose Stone would not join the band until they began work on Dance to the Music.
The album is more restrained and not nearly as funky or psychedelic as their subsequent efforts, owing far more to traditional Soul arrangements. These aren't that traditional, though; Sly is already using goofier and/or more thoughtful lyrics than the Soul norm, and taking some cues from Rock in his adventurous and unexpected song construction.1. Vanishing PointVanishing Point is the fifth album from Primal Sream, originally released in 1997 and named after and inspired by the 1971 Richard C. Sarafian cult film of the same title. The songs were meant to be an alternative soundtrack to that movie and as lead singer Bobby Gillespie explained, the music in the film is hippy music and it's always been a favourite of the band, we love the air of paranoia and speed-freak righteousness: pure underground cinema, rammed with claustrophobia.
Vanishing Point was Primal Scream's first album to feature bass player Gary 'Mani' Mounfield (formerly of The Stone Roses) while guests include Augustus Pablo, Glen Matlock and The Memphis Horns. The band draws inspiration from dub and Can, ambient music, Motörhead and The Stooges here to create a dark mix of drum and bass, dance, and rock close to their magnum opus Screamadelica. The album fully displays how successfully an act can reinvent itself yet stay true to what it is best at.LP1

Rodrigo Y Gabriela (Deluxe)Mexico City's Rodrigo y Gabriela originally released their self-titled breakthrough album in 2006 and are now excited to announce a 10-year anniversary deluxe edition for 2017 that will be released via ATO Records. The deluxe edition will include a 2-LP set including both a re-mastered version of the original album and a 2006 performance, live from Olympia Theatre in Dublin.
Affectionately known to fans as "the Crocodile album", the original record has sold nearly one million copies worldwide and the global success of the album, together with endless touring, established Rod & Gab as one of the most popular acoustic instrumental artists in the world.
"We are busy at work on our new record, but looking back at this album, it's good to be reminded of how far we've come in ten years," said Rodrigo. "We had some crazy times in Ireland, and made many great friends there," added Gabriela. "The fans are so passionate about music, this is a thank you to them and our time in Dublin."
Rodrigo y Gabriela was produced by John Leckie (My Morning Jacket, Radiohead, The Stone Roses) and mastered by Robyn Robins, who also did the re-master. The vinyl version will be a double album on 180-heavyweight vinyl.LP 1: Rodrigo Y Gabriela (2016 Remaster)

Uncle AnesthesiaAfter releasing three albums with Greg Ginn's underground label SST, Screaming Trees broke through in 1991 with Uncle Anesthesia on major label Epic. The band, fronted by Mark Lanegan (who would go on to collaborate solo with band members of Nirvana, Queens Of The Stone Age, Guns 'N Roses and Foo Fighters) is known for its raw psychedelic, whiskey voiced garage rock. This harder edge set the band apart from Seattle grunge contemporaries Alice In Chains and Soundgarden, gaining a loyal fanbase in the process. HowlinDoes Jagwar Ma make rock music or dance music? It's genuinely tough to tell. A duo from Sydney, Australia, Jagwar Ma combines rock 'n' roll signifiers (electric guitars, psychedelic vocals) with pristine dance-music production. The band's full-length debut, Howlin (out June 11), references The Stone Roses one minute and space disco the next, and neither approach feels the least bit forced.
Guitars and drum machines don't make for uncharted territory in 2013, obviously, but it's important to note that Jagwar Ma isn't a dance-rock band. This is the 1960s British Invasion re-imagined with today's digital audio software, which has some comparing Jagwar Ma to the Manchester, England, scene of the late 1980s, when rock bands took cues from the country's burgeoning rave culture.
The electronic impetus in this case is Jagwar Ma producer (and partial namesake) Jono Ma, who recorded much of Howlin with singer Gabriel Winterfield in a barn in northern France. Ma sounds like a producer coming into his own after years of collaborating; he has an impeccable feel for when Winterfield's anthemic delivery should give way to an 808 drum machine. The hybridization peaks in Uncertainty, one of the year's best songs so far.
Those barn recordings eventually made their way to Ewan Pearson, one of the premier British remixers of the past decade; he put the finishing touches on most of these songs. It's unclear how much he added to the mix, but his sharp production style is all over this album.
Of course, just because you can mix rock and dance music, that doesn't necessarily mean you should. But Howlin largely nails that sweet spot between singing along to a song and losing yourself in it.

Too TrueIn the summer of 2012, between tours supporting End of Daze, I
locked out the world and sat down in my apartment to write a new record
- clear view of the New York City sky through iron bars like a promise.
Like all compulsive minds, I was waiting to let the muse loose. And so
I spent the next week in a sparkling haze, and when I emerged from the
frenzy to go back on tour, indeed ten new songs came with. They were
bound together, not just by an overall sonic palette and new guitar pedal,
but by time, intention, and fervor. Do you hear Suede? Siouxie? Cold-wave
Patti? Madonna? Cure? Velvet and Paisley Undergrounds? Stone Roses?
Cuz I did.
Still later, in November 2012, I returned to Hollywood to record among
the lingering Pet Sounds at East West Studios, in pursuit of a bigger,
darker, more urgent sound. Sitting in the room with my favorite team of
regulars (Richard Gottehrer and Sune Rose Wagner producing, Alonzo
Vargas engineering), it was easy to add some flesh to my song skeletons.
But, unfortunately, the previous year of touring had reduced my voice
to a pale spectre of its former self. I left California with the heavy burden
of an unfinished album.
Truly one of those disguised blessings though - the extra time was a
gift. These songs weren't done at all! So I recorded vocals alone in my
bedroom studio, fueled by Rainer Maria Rilke, Anais Nin, Arthur Rimbaud,
Paul Verlaine, Charles Baudelaire, Sylvia Plath; the punk poet singers
Patti Smith and Lou Reed; and finally, an unhealthy obsession with the
Surrealists' manifesto of desire.
I write this now, many months later, on the up. So much of my life has
been defined, aided, and even saved by music. Too True is my best
attempt at joining the rock'n'roll ranks, of chasing pop into the dark,
and I am as ever, humbled that you listen.

Goodbye Terrible YouthHow do you improve an already striking set of stripped-down, homemade pop? Gary McClure, the St. Louis-by-way-of Scotland songwriter behind American Wrestlers, a once anonymous project that became one of the year's best new bands, believes it's about being true to the basics.
"It's truly about becoming good enough to write the album you wanted to listen to when you were 15," he says. "Every time I make a new record, I feel like I'm getting closer."
Goodbye Terrible Youth (November 4, Fat Possum) shows McClure taking bedroom recordings onto a bigger stage without sacrificing the intimacy that makes them so attractive. If his self-titled album showed his knack for stringing together addictive guitar lines-the shimmer of shoegaze mixed with the emotional fist pump of power pop-Goodbye Terrible Youth amplifies that energy with a road-tested band. Literally breaking out of the home studio-the Tascam mixer McClure had been recording on has fallen apart from overuse-he's embraced a bigger sound and stage on Goodbye Terrible Youth, his rueful yet propulsive songwriting only becoming sharper.
"I wanted to write songs that bridged the gap better between audience and stage," he says. "Faster, louder more distortion. Something you can do handstands and backflips and start small fires to."
Building on the dreamy haze of previous recordings, McClure's music on GTY often crackles with energy. Lead song "Vote Thatcher" flips a switch between propulsive, jangly guitar lines and bright, boisterous, choruses, a fitting backdrop for lyrics imploring listeners not to let their youth slip through their fingers. "Someone Far Away," propelled by a massive, fuzzy bassline, makes a perfect soundtrack for a long desert drive, while the angular and angsty, while "Terrible Youth" opens with a muscular take on the midsection riff of Marquee Moon, than fuzzes into grunge over a Stone Roses bass line along with a bit of Big Star swagger.
When McClure's homemade recordings surfaced in late 2014, they featured the kind of lo-fi charm you'd expect from a lost classic, like a long-lost mixtape rediscovered under the seat of your car. Self-released on Bandcamp, the earnest and effortless album reflects McClure at his best.
"It's this weird kind of thing happens where the music kind of constructs itself," he says. "My music making process is always happening, always going on in my head. It's almost like anti-virus software in my computer. It's always plugging away in the background."
McClure's career may be the definition of plugging away, enough so that he has the unique distinction of being "discovered" twice. Before starting American Wrestler, he was one-half of Working For a Nuclear Free City, a shoegaze-inspired band out of Manchester, England. By 2013, McClure and bandmate Phil Kay decided to wind the project down. As McClure weighed next move, he started playing around and posting demos online. The tracks caught the attention of Bridgette Imperial, an American who was studying overseas, and sparked more than just a meeting of musical minds. They began dating, and a year later, McClure had moved to St. Louis to marry her.
The midwest move has been a key influence for the restless musician, a more open music scene than he was accustomed to in Manchester. While working a warehouse job for UPS in Missouri, McClure began experimenting and recording what would become the first American Wrestlers album, and the momentum and reception built since then has allowed him to stretch out and refine a new album of songs with a full band, which includes Imperial, who plays keyboard, as well as Ian Reitz on bass and Josh Van Hoorebeke on drums. McClure's new set of bouncing, well-crafted songs shows that musical youth is not always wasted on the young.
"I'm always surprised by how each record brings me closer to writing simpler, heavier, catchier songs like those bands who gave me my musical epiphany: Nirvana, the Smashing Pumpkins, Hole and that first Foo Fighters record," he says. "I first learned how to write by copying them and got lost for a decade in intricacy and experimentation. Now, it feels like I'm heading back."1. Vote Thatcher

Izzy Stradlin was always the most gifted member of Guns N' Roses, able to put a modern spin on the classic Rock of Chuck Berry, the Stones, and the Faces, as well as the New York Dolls and Sex Pistols. Axl may have had the angst and Slash may have had the chops, but Izzy had the smarts and the heart.
On his debut solo album, released in 1992, the traditional elements that had always formed the backbone of Stradlin's music with Guns N' Roses comes to the forefront. Unlike future albums released by Stradlin, this one was released under a band name: Izzy Stradlin and the Ju Ju Hounds.

Tyler Bryant And The ShakedownA Band On The Verge Of Rock N Roll Greatness!
After carving out a fervent fan base and drawing widespread critical applause with their heady, high-voltage brand of guitar-driven rock, shooting from both hip and heart, Nashville's Tyler Bryant & The Shakedown find themselves at the epicenter of an advanced rock 'n' roll adventure that continues to take them around the world, appearing at some of the biggest venues along the way
Starting with a guest spot on AC/DC's 'Rock or Bust' World Tour in 2016, the quartet - Caleb Crosby on drums, Noah Denney on bass and backing vocals, Graham Whitford on guitar and Texas-born Tyler himself on vocals and guitar, a musician immersed in blues music from an early age - have continued to share events and stages with some of rock's most legendary names, including Guns N' Roses, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, Aerosmith, Deep Purple and ZZ Top.
At the same time as projecting their music into stadiums, Tyler Bryant & The Shakedown - The Shakedown to friends and fans - have continued to build their name and reputation as a headline act, and indeed it was backstage after a sold-out, bill-topping show in London (June 2017) that the band signed their new deal with Snakefarm Records - the most immediate and exciting result being an 11-track, self-titled studio album set to be the label's inaugural release, with November 3rd locked in as the day of the launch
"So many great things have happened over the past few months," exclaims Caleb, "and it's all just so surreal. I remember seeing that Guns N' Roses were playing two stadium shows in London on June 16th and 17th earlier this year, which are birthdays for Noah and myself, back to back, and I said wouldn't it be amazing if we appeared on both of those shows and we did!"
Rewinding back to 2008, Tyler moved to Nashville by himself at the ripe age of 17 to write songs and form a band. It was here he met Caleb, and together they put together what would become The Shakedown
"The instant we started playing, I knew there was something special," reflects Caleb. "We played our first show a week later and haven't stopped since!"
The next addition to the ranks was Graham Whitford, a young guitarist from Boston, Massachusetts. Introduced to Tyler as the guy who could put him out of a job, it was clear from the start that Whitford was a force to be reckoned with. As soon as Tyler heard him play, he asked him to uproot and move to Nashville to join the band.
All that was needed now was the right bassist: enter Noah Denney, who instantly added a whole new dimension to The Shakedown's sound. As Tyler recalls, "his bass sound scared me and he brought an edge and an attitude to the band that we didn't even know we needed."
2013's 'Wild Child' album announced the quartet's arrival with a bang as they logged time on the road with the likes of Aerosmith, Jeff Beck & ZZ Top, while receiving the endorsement of Guitar World, Rolling Stone, Los Angeles Times, Nylon, Interview Magazine and Paste. Taking over TV, they lit up the stage at both Jimmy Kimmel LIVE! and AXS Live.
Following the release of 'The Wayside' EP (2015, produced by Grammy Award winner Vance Powell), the boys crisscrossed the country alongside Billy Gibbons & AC/DC on that celebrated 2016 run. April 2017 found them without a label and only a month out from joining Guns N' Roses on a European tour
"We had just decided to self-produce a record completely on our own," says Tyler. "I'll never forget driving home that morning and getting a call from our manager saying, 'You wanna go back to Europe with Guns N Roses?' That was a great kick-start to the first day of tracking."
So they hunkered down and set about writing & recording their second full-length album, with John Fields (Soul Asylum, Paul Westerberg) coming on board to handle the mix. Blending a sense of history with a youthful, energetic heartbeat, this anticipated outing features a host of brand new tracks, some of which have become staples of the live set. It also stands as the start of a relationship with the newly-launched Snakefarm label.
Housed within the global infrastructure of Spinefarm Records (a UMG label), the Snakefarm brand will provide a targeted home for international artists, both established and new, from the increasingly buoyant roots rock world - music based on authenticity and emotion, under-pinned by core values and beliefs.
In this respect, Tyler Bryant & The Shakedown - who can lay claim to a fast-growing international presence, with major UK festivals such as Download, Ramblin' Man and British Summer Time already under their belt, alongside headline shows plus guest appearances with Nashville neighbors The Cadillac Three - are a flagship representation; what's more, in 'Tyler Bryant & The Shakedown' they've delivered a genuine genre-defying labour of love, a varied and infectious statement shot through with passion, pride and a welcome dash of glamour.
"This is the definitive Shakedown record as of now, and that's why we decided it should be self-titled," explains a fired-up Tyler. "It's the definitive Shakedown record due to the fact there were no other cooks in the kitchen. We put so much energy into writing and recording each song. It's not just a guitar album; it's a song album, and I'm proud to hang my hat on this one."
The first single / video, 'Heartland', introduces Tyler Bryant & The Shakedown with a one-two punch of gritty guitars and soulful vocals before slipping into a hypnotic bridge punctuated by airy clean guitars. Tyler sings, "There's a slow beat in the heartland, going down in the quicksand, stack 'em up and watch the cards fall, if it happens to one, then it happens to all".
"It's no secret that there's crazy stuff going on all over the world right now. There's madness all around and people are constantly picking sides. Every night when the Shakedown takes the stage, I'm amazed that music brings people together. Nobody is thinking about what side they're on when they're singing at the top of their lungs next to a complete stranger. I thought maybe through music I could remind myself and our TBSD family that when one person falls, the rest of us do, too. I wanna get together with a bunch of folks and sing that sentiment because it's one I strongly believe in.
Elsewhere, 'Backfire' struts along on a stomping drum groove driven by thick distortion with lyrics "about pulling the short end of the straw and feeling vengeful". Then there's 'Aftershock'. Hinging on hummable riffing, the track simmers at a steady swamp crawl before the Sabbathian refrain.
"That's a tune about feeling the effects of a situation long after it's come and gone.
As Tyler Bryant & The Shakedown spend 2017 lighting up stages with the likes of Guns N' Roses (again), The Who & Alice Cooper - as well as making their first appearance at Rock In Rio - this new album sees them fully realize their vision with a sound that resounds above the bleachers, plus a collective desire to keep the entertainment flag fully unfurled
"I want people to put this on and literally escape," Tyler leaves off. "I hope they feel free. That's what rock 'n' roll makes me feel. You don't have to think about your bills or any of the other things that have the power to bring you down when you've got your fist up in the air, your eyes closed and you're lost in the music. Angus Young told me, 'You've got to make the audience think you're taking them on a journey, and they'll go with you. If you believe it, they will too'. I believe it with this record."1. Heartland

Le Freak Live!In 1996, CHIC filmed a full concert at the legendary Budokan in Tokyo for a DVD release, while they were supported by the ex-Guns n 'Roses guitarist Slash, the vocal group SISTER SLEDGE and Brit rock legend Stevie Winwood. His participation in the Hendrix cover of Stone Free is without any doubt one of the highlights of this record. The concert at the Budokan, incidentally, was the last one of Bernard Edwards, Nile Rodgers' long-time companion died shortly after the appearance. Underneath The Pine
Columbia, South Carolina's Chaz Bundick (aka Toro Y Moi) rose to the fore of the music blogosphere in the summer of 2009 when he and a few peers made their hazy bedroom recordings the most talked-about sound of the season. Critics across the board took notice of the range of his compositions, and his debut album, Causers of This, showcased his ability to make elements of Brian Wilson's pop, 80s R&B, and Stone's Throw hip hop coalesce into a distinct sound that's as suitable for a dancefloor as it is a pair of headphones.
When Chaz first signed to Carpark Records, the plan was to release two records in 2010, one electronic and one with live instrumentation and although it didn't quite fit into the same calendar year as his debut, Underneath the Pine is that latter offering. This release sees him following
the same creative urges to completely different ends. Having spent the year listening to film composers like Ennio Morricone and François de Roubaix, Bundick returned to his home in Columbia, the birthplace of many Toro tracks of yore, to bring his new ideas to fruition.
The result of these sessions is an album evocative of R. Stevie Moore's homespun ruminations, David Axelrod's sonic scope, Steve Reich-ian piano phrasing, and the pervasive funk of his first record. Underneath the Pine announces a new phase for an artist whose talent defies classification.1. Intro/Chi Chi

2CellosYoung Croatian cellists Luka Sulic and Stjepan Hauser, together known as 2CELLOS, have achieved sensational success by taking the cello to a new level. Their playing style has broken down the boundaries between different genres of music, from classical and film music to Pop and Rock. 2CELLOS have no limits when it comes to performing live and are equally as impressive when playing Bach and Vivaldi as they are when rocking out AC/DC. Their debut album is a thrilling collection of chart-topping Rock and Pop songs performed in their signature style.
2CELLOS rose to fame in 2011 when their version of Michael Jackson's ''Smooth Criminal'' took the world by storm. The YouTube video became a massive viral sensation leading to a record deal with Sony Masterworks and an invitation to join Sir Elton John on his worldwide tour. The song charted at No. 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 Digital Songs Chart and landed the 2CELLOS' debut album in the Top 100.
In addition to many sold out solo tours (US, Japan, Europe) and collaborations with the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Queens of the Stone Age and George Michael, the duo have also appeared on major TV shows such as The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, The Bachelor and many others. Together with the Chinese classical superstar pianist Lang Lang, they appeared at the CCTV New Year's Gala for more than 1 billion viewers.1. Where The Streets Have No Name

Mudcrutch have announced their second album, entitled "2, to be released by Reprise Records. The album is the follow up to the band's 2008 eponymous debut which Rolling Stone called "a country-rock instant classic" in a rave four star review.
Along with Ryan Ulyate, the new album was produced by band members Tom Petty and Mike Campbell. All the members of Mudcrutch contributed songs on "2, with seven originals written by Petty, and one each by band members Campbell, Tom Leadon, Randall Marsh and Benmont Tench.
Mudcrutch was initially formed in 1970 in Gainesville, Florida and is the precursor to the legendary Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers. Tom Petty (bass/vocals), Tom Leadon (guitar/vocals), Benmont Tench (keyboards/vocals), Mike Campbell (guitar/vocals), and Randall Marsh (drums/vocals) make up the band's current line up.
In 1974, Mudcrutch was signed to Shelter Records and moved to Los Angeles where they released one single, "Depot Street," to very little fanfare. The band broke up in 1975 and could have settled for being a legend, but instead Mudcrutch rose from the ashes in 2008 to remind us that the golden age of rock and roll bands still had a few treasures to unearth.1. Formed in the mid 70s by art school chums David Byrne, Chris Franz, and Tina Weymouth and ex-Modern Lover Jerry Harrison, Talking Heads rose out of the CBGB punk crucible and proved themselves one of the most artistically adventurous and influential bands of all time. Their visionary, polyrhythmic sound fused elements including rock, funk, and punk with diverse world beats, avant-garde minimalism, and pure pop genius.
From their 1977 debut through their Brian Eno and self-produced classics and on to their swan song (1988's Steve Lillywhite-produced Naked), Talking Heads constantly broke creative boundaries while also scoring smart radio hits including "Burning Down The House," "Wild Wild Life," and, from 1980's Remain In Light, the brilliant "Once In A Lifetime."
Considered by many fans and critics alike to be the band's best album, Remain In Light was the third release in the Heads/Eno trilogy and fourth overall. More melodic and funkier sounding than that of its predecessors, the recording finds the band further exploring the African rhythms hinted at on 1979's Fear of Music with the help of a growing personnel that now included Adrian Belew (guitar), Bernie Worrell (keyboards), Steven Scales (percussion) and backing vocalists. As propulsive and essential as ever here on 180 gram vinyl courtesy of Warner Bros. Records!
"On this New Wave watershed, the avant-punk avatars became polyrhythmic pop magicians. David Byrne and Co. combined the thrust of P-Funk, the kinky grooves of Afropop and the studied adventurousness of producer Brian Eno - and they still had a pop hit with 'Once in a Lifetime'." - Rolling StoneThe Great Curve
