    Win Us Over (Awaiting Repress)

Double LP reissue of ASG's classic 2008 record, remastered for vinyl! This is a triumph of a record that has LONG been out of print!

SG's fourth album is filled with big beefy guitar riffs and melodic foreboding that is soaked in Southern roadhouse whiskey and are hazed out through a kaleidoscopic squall that packs a walloping sonic punch.

While the ingredients of stoner rock, psychedelic metal, and angst-ridden punk rock are transparent, ASG doesn't fit under any particular category. Be you a fan of plain ol' rock and roll and don sleeveless flannels while sucking down 22 ouncers and getting' rowdy - or enjoy waxen' deep on the bong, Win Us Over lives up to it's namesake.

    Time To Die

A cultural as well as a musical force, ELECTRIC WIZARD has left an indelible mark on a host of different genres, the likes of doom, stoner and sludge; at heart, however, they stand as an iconic British metal band, cast in the great tradition, with lyrics and artwork reflecting the hypnotic weight of the music, and subject to the same intelligence and detail.

Wreathed in occult ritual and drug-culture references, with classic '70s horror an inspirational seam, ELECTRIC WIZARD is poised to turn a page; there's the new deal with Spinefarm Records, plus - after a nine-year hiatus - the return of Mark Greening (the drummer on Dopethrone), who completes the lineup of Oborn, American guitarist Liz Buckingham, a key member since 2003, and new bassist Clayton Burgess (SATAN'S SATYRS).

Fueled by strong emotion and the harder sounds of late-'60s Detroit, the remodeled lineup - isolated by choice, giant stacks glowing red - set about crafting an eighth studio album to both rival and exceed the milestone recordings of the past, with Buckingham keeping things suitably monolithic and the band generally looking back to some of their earliest influences. Toerag Studios in London was once again charged with capturing The Sound, and (encouragingly) words like raw, hateful and sickeningly heavy are being traded.

Founding member Jus Oborn said the following: All of our albums in the past have had a theme - revenge, drugs, black magick - and the theme of this one is death. Of course, death to us really means rebirth, so this album is a manifestation of a very primal occult belief in the final sacrifice. We have gone full circle - it was inevitable, but we had to do it. We had to kill the band so we could be reborn. It was the only way to ensure we could come back even stronger.

BRANT BJORK, as cult figure of the Palm Desert scene, was founder / drummer of the now defunct Stoner-Rock legends Kyuss and is a permanent member of Vista Chino (formerly KYUSS Lives!). Now, he is sailing under his own flag, proving once again that his multi-instrumental skills know no creative boundaries. With his excellent occupied Low Desert Punk Band, Bjork lets the scorching heat of Nevada shimmer in his songs. He also scrubs his guitar through all sorts of psychedelic effect pedals and skillfully mixes Stoner Rock, Blues and Doom-bonds to a feverish hazy brew.

Inspired by the harsh, rural landscapes of Indiana which they call home, CLOAKROOM drifts through a range of emotions and styles on their sophomore full-length Time Well. Fuzzy and depressive. Expressive and expansive. An amalgam of doomy stoner rock, psychedelic shoegaze, and moody, pop-influenced, sonic abrasion, Time Well is 10 songs and 60+ minutes of crunchy, guitar-driven atmosphere and downbeat rhythms layered atop deceptively sweet and tranquil melodies. At times crushingly heavy, others gorgeously contemplative, CLOAKROOM write music with purpose and intent; to dissolve from this world into an infinite blur.

    Colored Vinyl

Catchy hooks and sweet vocal harmonies backed by a wall of thick fuzzy guitars and hard hitting drums with an added sprinkling of analog synth sounds, combined they result in a truly unique sound. Stoner rock, psychedelia, space rock or maybe it's just best described as Mangoo.

Hailing from Turku, Finland, Mangoo have been busting out the fuzz since 2005 when they released their untitled debut EP. Countless beers, shows and drummers later in 2009 the first full-length, Neolithic (7:45 Records), was released. Since then the line-up has remained unchanged with Pickles playing guitar and singing, Mattarn with some more guitar, Igor bringing the bass, Teemu pounding away at the drums and Nicke playing keys and just generating weird noises... oh, and everybody singing along and having a good time.

2012 will see the release of the bands second album and Small Stone debut, entitled Neverland. Like the debut it was recorded and produced by the band itself and displays growth to a more dynamic and even more varied sound. Neverland delivers the heavy, the mellow, the jams and the hooks. If you believe Benny Grotto, who mixed the album, it's a really cool band from Finland [...] who sorta sound like a cross between QOTSA, Rush, Yes, and the Foo Fighters. It's like, weird, proggy stoner rock, but with keyboards and gigantic pop hooks.

    Outsideinside

Blue Cheer looms large in the annals of hard rock, laying down the sonic foundations of heavy metal, and serving as a crucial influence on the birth of punk, grunge and stoner rock. While the rest of the rock world was mellowing out and embracing the spirit of the Summer of Love, the seminal San Francisco power trio was churning out ballsy blues-rock anthems whose fuzz-heavy, adrenaline-charged intensity helped to alter the course of contemporary music.

Blue Cheers second album, Outsideinside, fully matches its predecessors primal power. The last Blue Cheer release to feature the beloved lineup of Stephens, Peterson and Whaley, Outsideinside is a bracing orgy of volume, distortion and aggression, with such highlights as Just a Little Bit, Come and Get It, the instrumental Magnolia Caboose Babyfinger and the bands distinctive take on the Rolling Stones Satisfaction. Like its predecessor, Outsideinside has been out of print on vinyl for decades and has long been prized by collectors.

...And Justice For Y'all (Awaiting Repress)

The South will smoke again. The Bible Belt state of North Carolina, USA seems a fertile ground for hemp and stoner rock. When cult sludge act BUZZOV•EN called it a day, bass player Dave Dixie Collins teamed up with guitarist Dave Shep Shepherd and founded WEEDEATER in the harbor town of Wilmington about the year 1998. Their crushing and massive first full-length and Justice for Y'all created an immediate buzz, while critics were struggling to put a tag on their sound. Nearly everybody agreed that stoner rock, doom, sludge and some crusty elements were part of the mix, which the band simply calls weed metal. The debut was produced by renowned engineer Billy Anderson (EYEHATEGOD, NEUROSIS) as well as sophomore album Sixteen Tons (2002). WEEDEATER went out to perform live with CORROSION OF CONFORMITY and ALABAMA THUNDERPUSSY among others. After some detours of Dixie Dave, who played shortly with BONGZILLA and SOURVEIN, the third album God Luck and Good Speed hit the world in 2007 and shifted the band's focus slightly towards the stoner side. The latest full-length Jason the Dragon got delayed when guitarist Shep lost a toe due to an incident with his favourite shotgun. When the sludge driven album finally came out in 2011 shows in the US and Europe cemented the band's reputation as a fierce live entity. For the next release WEEDEATER have signed up with Season of Mist, which will reissue the complete back catalogue. Remastered and presented with its original artwork, And Justice for Y'all will also be available on vinyl for the first time. Time to lean back and get high on this WEEDEATER cult classic!

Inter Arma follow up their universally acclaimed 'Sky Burial' with the epic 40+ minute one-song 'The Cavern' ep. Recorded during breaks from the relentless touring the band did on the 'Sky Burial' album with the likes of Baroness, Russian Circles and more, this new ep is the ultimate exhibition of the genius that Inter Arma have always hinted at. Unparalleled musicianship meets the soulfully deranged vocalis of Mike Paparo to create one of the most impressive pieces of metal to be released this year. Shifting from Americana laced extreme metal to doom to stoner rock to prog all within a single song, Inter Arma's 'The Cavern' is an opus that will surely be heralded for years to come along the likes of Sleep's 'Dopesmoker' as a work of true artistic vision and endurance.

MONSTER MAGNET put the pedal to the metal with "MINDFUCKER", their 11th record. In
terms of power driven Stoner Rock these gentlemen from New Jersey belong to the measure of
all things. But "MINDFUCKER" is different, a step forward and a step back at the same time to
the almighty roots of beat music. Dave manipulates his guitar with rich virility and the drive of
    his shifty soul.

Wyndorf seeks and finds: Timeless songs, kindled by the unpretentious Protopunk
era. "MINDFUCKER" pumps and scratches at every turn! Dave fires off piercing calls over
neckbreaking guitar work and whirlwinds of psychedelic solos. All things are in constant motion
with a sound of groovy straightforwardness, always heading for the essence of „the" song. „Why

Kyuss, Slo-Burn, Unida, Hermano, Vista Chino - yes, desert crooner John Garcia may rightfully be considered the ultimate incarnation of stoner rock. His first solo album and opus eponymous from 2014 is followed roughly three years later by The Coyote Who Spoke In Tongues, a comparatively relaxed and purely acoustic affair! Better late than never, Mister Garcia himself comments on the rather lengthy period of time he invested in his new baby. Offering chilled out renditions of Kyuss classics including 'Green Machine', 'Space Cadet', 'El Rodeo' and 'Gardenia' The Coyote Who Spoke In Tongues seamlessly merges past gems with future, howling hits like 'The Hollingsworth Session' - all you need now is a crackling fire!

Vincebus Eruptum, Blue Cheers landmark 1968 debut, is widely regarded as Ground Zero of the heavy metal explosion. The album, featuring the classic Blue Cheer lineup of guitarist Leigh Stephens, bassist/vocalist Dickie Peterson and drummer Paul Whaley, includes the trios mind-melting reading of Eddie Cochrans Summertime Blues, which became a Top 20 single, along with such raw, overdriven originals as Doctor Please and Second Time Around and distinctive reworkings of the blues standards Rock Me Baby and Parchment Farm. Sasquanaut (Awaiting Repress)

As I said a handful of reviews ago, it's always refreshing when I come across an album that doesn't reek of the usual influences. Enter Columbus, Ohio's Lo Pan, who eschews the Kyuss-Sabbath-Queens of the Stone Age trifecta for that of Boston's Only Living Witness.

Most of that stems from vocalist Jeff Martin, who's a dead ringer for OLW frontman Jonah Jenkins. But that's not to say that the rest of the band - Brian Fristoe, J. Bartz, and Skot Thompson - isn't that far removed from the Innocents and Prone Mortal Form hardcore-meets-rock riff slinging. There's definitely a correlation between Sasquanaut's ''Dragline'' and ''Kramer'' and OLW's ''Total Particle Reversal'' and ''December.''

Mind you, I'm not complaining. In the wild, woolly world of stoner rock, there are more than enough bands dishing out the prerequisite fat riffs and thick grooves. It's refreshing to hear a rock band that balances a harder edge with some classic, soaring vocals. You get that in spades with Sasquanaut, and if you're a fan of OLW - or Disengage, another like-minded band that burned bright and fast - you'll find Lo Pan to be exactly what you need.

God Luck And Good Speed (Awaiting Repress)

Nearly five years after their second CD, the underrated Sixteen Tons, was seemingly flushed like so much unwanted bong water down the toilet of stoner rock's decline in popularity, the members of North Carolina's Weedeater found the strength to roll up a new one after hooking up with the Southern Lord label, and duly re-emerged with a hell of a comeback album. In fact, it's' a good bet that their invariably baked fan contingent would likely bestow 2007's God Luck and Good Speed with the highest possible honor of calling it really good shit, full-to-bursting with coarse, crusty, stoner sludgecore of the highest market value. This becomes immediately apparent on the album's impressive opening triple threat -- the earth-shaking grooves of the title track, the uproarious speed-blast of Wizard Fight, and the groove-driven laughs of For Evan's Sake -- all of which surf on surging waves of feedback, their tendrils forming dirty electric causeways for an extended, uninterrupted buzz. Then suddenly, all is quiet for the one-off austerity of Alone, featuring only a banjo, an acoustic bass, and vocalist Dixie Dave Collins replacing his trademark croak with a drunken baritone à la Tom Waits, stinking drunk out on the bayou. (Curiously, this track alone was recorded by Corrosion of Conformity's Mike Dean, while the rest of the album was produced by indie rock staple Steve Albini.) Punishing, viscous volume and distortion are resumed by subsequent aural bulldozers like the instrumental $20 Peanut, the doomy but somewhat dull Dirt Merchant, and the oddly named epic Weed Monkey (all interlocked by even more feedback, naturally). And to emphasize their sub-Mason Dixon line allegiance, Weedeater deliver an aptly sludge-encrusted cover of Lynyrd Skynyrd's Gimme Back My Bullets as sung by Swamp Thing. Final verdict? The wait was worth it: God Luck and Good Speed is definitely some of Weedeater's strongest stuff yet.

The debut LP from Syracuse, NY's OAK & BONE realizes a sound they have been working towards since their inception. Their first 7 on Hex showed the rocking and groovy stoner metal vibe in a more punk fashion. A split 7 with labelmates LIKE WOLVES last year offered a more trippy vibe to coincide with their fuzzed-out punk attack. Now on this full length you see all sides, anchored by an overpowering bass overload and reverb-ed out guitar leads. 11 tracks of surreal heaviness and monster grooves make this an awesome first full length. The Reverb Conspiracy Volume 3

Including GOAT remix by Anton Newcombe from The Brian Jonestown Massacre. As usual, the album features some of the best acts of the underground scene on its side of the continent. The fifteen outfits taking part in the third volume - including Goat (mixed by Anton Newcombe of Brian Jonestown Massacre), Mugstar, The Oscillation, Camera are representative of the impressive diversity and quality of a scene that is much broader than its definition. While all of them are certainly inspired by Psychedelia, each one of them incorporates different elements of Blues, Folk, Rock & Roll, Stoner, Kraut Rock, Electronica, Noise, Ambient and more.. For the third time, the cover was created by iconic Icelandic artist and band member of Dead Skeletons, Jon Saemundur, aka Nonni Dead.

During many months of 2011 and 2012 Deville have been stuck in the studio most of the time except for some European festivals and random shows. After two full length albums and a couple of hundred shows all around Europe the new record is a product of that. Trying to take this experience of what the band does best and what works live this new record is wider than previous releases... This brand new recording will see the light of day in 2013 via the band's new home here at Small Stone.

In 2009, after more than 100 gigs all over Europe since the debut album release it was time for the album ''Hail the Black Sky''. Recorded during the early months in 2009 in Malmoe, Sweden by Markus Nilsson and produced by Deville. The band has taken a step to a more straight forward songwriting and this album has more of an album feeling than the last one recording the songs during the same period of time. It follows the pattern of significant Deville grooves and 70`s driven riffing of the darker school. Eleven tracks of rock in the veins of Black Sabbath. Kyuss and Soundgarden it takes you to the next level of 70's rock for the 21st century. This album proves the bands progress to their own sound in the genre of heavy rock and beyond and will definitely take the listeners for a ride.

The Swedish rock band Deville released their full length debut ''Come Heavy Sleep'' in December 2007 on Buzzville Records with great reviews. Two European tours took place in Jan/Feb and Nov/Dec 2008 that went through seven countries. Heaviness and grooves dominates ''Come Heavy Sleep'' that stretches from stoner rock to doom riffs. In 2005/2006 Deville released a record on Daredevil Records a split record (double feature CD/ LP). It was also released in Europe and in the US. The band have existed around six years and have done over 200 gigs and festivals in Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, France, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, Lithuania, Portugal, Spain and the U.K the past five years with bands like Sepultura, Fu Manchu, Mustasch(S) and Brant Bjork.

    Shackles Gift

Zun Zun Egui formed in Bristol in late 2008 - Mauritian guitarist and singer Kushal Gaya met and started making music with Japanese keyboard player Yoshino Shigihara after they had both moved to the UK and a core group of musicians soon formed around them. A love for experimentation, free jazz, fusion, DIY culture, throwing parties and playing wild shows was the glue that bonded the outfit together. After an early clutch of raw and experimental EPs, they focused their song-writing talents and mastery of many styles to create a recognisable Zun Zun Egui sound which included tropicalia, punk funk, Afrobeat, Ethio jazz and no wave. All of these varied disciplines were marshalled to produce their first album "Katang" which was widely hailed as one of the most exciting debuts of 2011. Even for a band as exploratory and talented as ZZE though, the step up in terms of songwriting and inspiration since "Katang" is astounding and it is clear that Shackles' Gift looks like being one of the most unique and thrilling records that will be released in 2015.

Produced by Andrew Hung of Fuck Buttons, "Shackles' Gift" is the album that Zun Zun Egui have always threatened to deliver and we always believed they would. Opening with 'Rigid Man', it hits the listener with bone-shaking tropical funk. Future single 'African Tree' strolls past on a marching band rhythm, complete with an arena-sized chorus and Kyuss-heavy stoner rock guitars. 'Ruby' is like imperial period Depeche Mode discovering the delights of industrial dancehall reggae, while 'I Want You To Know' is an absolute funk/noise rock monster, sounding like Steve Albini recording Queens Of The Stone Age jamming on 'Kashmir'. 'Soul Scratch' is a very British take on a very Mauritian form of music called seggae, which combines the African island folk music known as sega with reggae, but imbuing it with an adrenalised urban uptightness. The album concludes with 'City Thunder' an elemental, dubbed out and dread take on post rock and disco.

Frontman Kushal says that first and foremost "Shackles' Gift" is a British rock record made by a British group but admits that the first sparks of its creation started flying when ZZE visited Mauritius in March 2013. The African island nation, which lies 700 miles east of Madagascar, deep in the Indian Ocean, invited the band to give a concert as part of their Independence Day celebrations. The island's dynamic history has led to a multi-lingual, multi-cultural modern nation which has influenced Zun Zun Egui in more ways than one. Not only has Mauritian music been one of the (many) primary ingredients of their sound and inspired Kushal's multi-lingual approach to singing (the island has 12 main languages) but the diversity of the country acts as a metaphor for the diversity of the group itself.

    The Sophtware Slump

The Control Group is proud to release the first 3 albums by Grandaddy on vinyl. Under The Western Freeway has never been released on vinyl in the U S. and The Sophtware Slump and Sumday are both long out-of-print collectors gems.

Guided by Jason Lyttle's vision of spacey, mid-fi country-rock, Modesto, CA's Grandaddy unites a mess of guitar-based, late-90's fringe-music into coherent statements about humanity and technology that at times sounds a lot like OK Computer or a lower-fidelity Soft Bulletin.

Mixed in an unselfconscious manner, these influences underline Lyttle's desire to have the music convey the era's confusion. So the epic mid-tempo opener He's Simple, He's Dumb, He's the Pilot recalls the stilted pace of Paranoid Android, Broken Household Appliance National Forest is a metaphorically lumbering rocker whose sounds spill over like punky stoners doing Black Sabbath, and Chartsengrafs rocks out in first-rate Vivadixie fashion. The Sophtware Slump is the sum of its grand parts.
