    Stranger

On Stranger Balmorhea continues the cosmic dialog they began with their eponymous debut in 2007. Though the spirit of Texas' early inhabitants and the weight of the night sky inspired previous albums All is Wild, All is Silent (2009) and Constellations (2010), Stranger shifts the focus from the celestial to the terrestrial, or more accurately, it begins to explore the celestial resonance in all things terrestrial.

Balmorhea's music has always been guided by the experience of living in Texas, but with Stranger the band moves beyond contemplative reverence for the land and the history of their home state. The most forward-leaning of their catalog, Stranger presents worlds of tenderness, aggression, estrangement, and freedom using an expanded sonic palette including guitar loops, vibes, synthesizers, ukulele, and steel pan drums. In addition to these new sounds, electric guitars and percussion take the stage once occupied by piano and acoustic guitars.

Stranger explores the kinetic rhythms that dictate our day-to-day lives, fascinated by the wanderlust that drove the itinerant hearts of our earliest settlers and that continues to pulse in the kids roaming Texas' suburban sprawl. Unsettled, but patient, these songs embrace everyday sensuality, youthful discovery, and nomadic reverie awe-struck by the divine energy that permeates all of our earthly fauna and flora.

Refined over many months, and in one case years, the band took care to ensure every note on Stranger feels essential, vivid, and confident. During the writing process, Rob Lowe was living in Alpine, Texas, just down the road from Marfa, and Michael Muller had relocated to Brooklyn. Absorbing their new environments, and filtering them through uniquely Texan lenses, the band has created an album that stands defiantly alone in the sea of modern independent music. Opening with the electric guitar loops, synths, and steel drums of Days, the band invites us to move forward with them as they explore without pretense or expectation. Pilgrim provides the perfect ending, blurring alpha and omega...a concluding gesture taking us back to our beginnings.

    Transfixiation

    Limited To 2,000 Copies Worldwide

[A Place to Bury Strangers] sculpts something unexpectedly elegant out of the type of din you'd expect to
hear on an airport tarmac - SPIN MAGAZINE

Hypnotic and forward-looking, A Place to Bury Strangers sound more vital than ever"- ALLMUSIC

A real sonic adventure that never relinquishes its grip on structure, despite the fact that the guitar effects
pedals are practically stomped into the floor- POPMATTERS

That's the most intense fear and feeling-when you go to a show and you're actually scared, says Oliver
Ackermann, guitarist and frontman of Brooklyn trio A Place To Bury Strangers.

Or you can palpably feel the danger in the music, adds bassit Dion Lunadon, Like it's going to fall apart
at any moment and the players doing it are so in the moment they don't give a shit about anything else.
They're just going for it. It's a gutter kinda vibe; everything about it is icky and evil and dangerous.

The same could be said the band's fourth album, Transfixiation. Rather than fixate on the minute details
like they may have done in the past, the group, rounded out by drummer Robi Gonzalez, trust their
instincts and try to keep things as pure as possible. Music is much more exhilarating when it's
unpredictable even on repeat plays, and this is very much an unpredictable record. Gonzalez makes his
recording debut with the band here, and it's obvious that he's helped pushed the band's recordings closer
to the level of their infamous live shows.

The one thing we have in common is this fire when we're playing, adds Gonzalez. I don't know; it's real
    intense.

    Onwards To The Wall

Without any official testing, Dead Oceans can safely say that the master recording for Onwards to the Wall is the loudest one ever submitted to the label for approval. Usually, they crank the volume to catch any digital pops or hisses that may foil a master. But this one they actually had to, ashamedly, put at half volume. This thing is pummeling. Theres no other way to capture the music of A Place To Bury Strangers than just beyond the boundary of whats considered properly loud. Produced, engineered, mixed and mastered by APTBS themselves, this is the sound of a band in control of making out of control music.

Onwards to the Wall packs every bit of the searing sonic maelstrom listeners have come to expect from APTBS. Yet, the adroit songcraft thats always been there is brought more to the fore, pop hooks are repurposed and more instantly recognizable. Now joined by bassist Dion Lunadon, formerly of The D4, Ackerman has found a crucial companion in pulling timeless melodies from their jet engine textures. Standout So Far Away takes all the pure pop perfection of The Box Tops The Letter and shoots it through with a barely-harnessed dark energy and snarling propulsion. The title track carries a similar balance of classic, '60s-pop hooks and doomed-out vibes, employing a boy-girl vocal trade-off thats at once both sexy and menacing.

Onwards to the Wall is a fresh, complete artistic statement from A Place To Bury Strangers . Its a new chapter, a prelude for what awaits us on the horizon. It is a taste of greatness to come.

First Pressing Of 1000 Numbered Copies On Silver Coloured Vinyl

From writer Charlie Kaufman (Being John Malkovich, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind) and Duke Johnson (Moral Orel, Frankenhole) comes Anomalisa, a stop-motion animated film.

Michael Stone, an author that specializes in customer service, is a man who is unable to interact deeply with other people. His low sensitivity to excitement, and his lack of interest made him a man with a repetitive life on his own perspective. But, when he went on a business trip, he met a stranger - an extraordinary stranger, which slowly became a cure for his negative view on life that possibly will change his mundane life.

The score is composed by Carter Benedict Burwell. He is best known as a regular collaborator of the Coen brothers, having scored 17 of their films, among them Fargo (1996), The Big Lebowski, No Country for Old Men, Burn After Reading, and True Grit. Other notable works include the Spike Jonze films Being John Malkovich, Adaptation and Where the Wild Things Are.

    The Natch'l Blues

Taj Mahal's second album, recorded in the spring and fall of 1968, opens with more stripped-down Delta-style blues in the manner of his debut, but adds a little more amplification (partly courtesy of Al Kooper on organ) before moving into wholly bigger sound on numbers like She Caught The Katy And Left Me A Mule To Ride and The Cuckoo -- the latter, in particular, features crunchy electric and acoustic guitars and Gary Gilmore playing his bass almost like a lead instrument, like a bluesman's answer to John Entwistle. Most notable, however, may be the two original closing numbers, You Don't Miss Your Water ('Til Your Well Runs Dry) and Ain't That A Lot Of Love, which offer Taj Mahal working in the realm of soul and treading onto Otis Redding territory. This is particularly notable on You Don't Miss Your Water, which achieves the intensity of a gospel performance and comes complete with a Stax/Volt-style horn arrangement by Jesse Ed Davis that sounds more like the real thing than the real thing. Ain't That a Lot of Love, by contrast, is driven by a hard electric guitar sound and a relentless bass part that sounds like a more urgent version of the bassline from the Spencer Davis Group's Gimme Some Lovin'. This LP reissue includes a trio of bonus tracks: a faster-paced rendition of The Cuckoo with a more prominent lead guitar, the slow electric lament New Stranger Blues featuring some good mandolin-style playing on the guitar, and the rocking instrumental Things Are Gonna Work Out Fine, which is a killer showcase for Davis' lead electric guitar and Taj Mahal's virtuosity on the harmonica.

The Jeff Beck/Friday Music 180 Gram Audiophile Series Continues!

Jeff Beck's 1968 Masterwork Album - First Time Authorized Audiophile Vinyl

Stunning Gatefold Cover With Rare Photo Of The Jeff Beck Group

Mastered From The Epic Records Stereo Tapes By Joe Reagoso And Manufactured At R.T.I.

Jeff Beck is truly a worldwide gift to rock music and guitar enthusiasts everywhere. There will never be another Jeff
Beck, a guitar genius who has enthralled generations of aspiring musicians and music lovers with the many fine recordings
he has made for the past five decades.

Celebrating five decades in the music business, this English native initially captivated millions of kids in the 60's with
his first recordings with The Yardbirds. He drove the rockers mad with his famous guitar licks and dynamic presence on the
stage. As individual members of the band started solo projects, Jeff Beck began the rudiments of The Jeff Beck Group with
his friends Jimmy Page, Nicky Hopkins, Keith Moon and John Paul Jones and threw down the mega instrumental Beck's
Bolero. This track along new tracks recorded at Abbey Road with Rod Stewart, Ronnie Wood, Nicky Hopkins and Mick Waller
would serve up his very first solo smash album Truth.

Kicking things off with the hard hitting Shapes of Things, this Yardbirds' revisit takes on a whole new approach with
the soulful vocals of Rod Stewart paired with the guitar antics of Jeff Beck. A match made in heaven, these two pioneers of
the British blues scene carry on with more masterful workouts on such fare as their hits Rock My Plimsoul, Let Me Love You
and their inspiring tour de force Blues De Luxe. Willie Dixon's I Ain't Superstitious and You Shook Me, plus their brilliant Tim
Rose cover of Morning Dew along with the brilliance of Beck's Bolero made Truth the revered masterpiece that it still is today.
Noted for his stellar guitar work, pretty much introducing new ways of using technique, distortion and effects to a
whole new generation of guitar players, Jeff Beck's Truth is truly a primer for a ton of rock and blues artists.

Friday Music is no stranger to the music of the legendary Jeff Beck, his arsenal of fine recordings already on our label.
That is why we are so very proud to announce another fine installment in The Jeff Beck/Friday Music 180 Gram Audiophile
Vinyl Series with his first legendary masterpiece Truth.

Mastered impeccably by Joe Reagoso (Jeff Beck, Yes, Deep Purple) for the first time on audiophile vinyl from the Columbia
stereophonic tapes, Jeff Beck's Truth will truly become one of the most important and historical 180 Gram Audiophile
Vinyl titles in quite some time.

To celebrate Jeff Beck's five decades in the music business, we further enhance this limited anniversary edition with a
stunning gatefold cover featuring the original artwork elements as well as a classic inside gatefold rare photo of the original
Jeff Beck Group with Jeff, Rod Stewart, Ronnie Wood and Mick Waller.

    Welcome Oblivion

Includes a Cd Version of the Entire Album

Anybody who paid attention to Trent Reznor's post-Nine Inch Nails project How to Destroy Angels' two EPs would not be shocked by the coolly meditative nature of their full-length debut, Welcome Oblivion, but if there happens to be a NIN fan coming to this 2013 LP cold -- odds aren't great, but stranger things have happened -- they're likely to be shocked by how aggressive this album isn't. This isn't to say Welcome Oblivion is an ambient album or a record consumed with solipsistic navel-gazing. Rather, How to Destroy Angels frees Reznor to explore quiet, intricately textured territory with the assistance of longtime collaborator Atticus Ross and vocalist Mariqueen Maandig, who also is Reznor's wife. Given Reznor's close connections with Maandig and Ross, it's possible some listeners may view this as a Trent vehicle where his bandmates are nothing more than sidemen, but How to Destroy Angels is a true collaboration, with Reznor and Ross sculpting the tracks to fit Maandig's soft, insinuating tones. At times, the interplay recalls vintage Tricky stripped of menace. HTDA certainly has drama and flirts with ominous overtones, but ultimately they're not a threatening lot; they're enjoying the process of creation too much to threaten. Nothing stays stationary on Welcome Oblivion -- even the quietest moments have things percolating in the background, and when a torrent of sound is unleashed, it isn't a mere deluge; there is definition, the empty spaces accentuating either the noisy squiggles or the shimmering, insinuating melodies. And make no mistake, Welcome Oblivion does have its share of melody, as this isn't merely a collection of sounds: there are songs here, some as tight as the defiantly new wave How Long?, and others as elliptical as the skeletal Ice Age -- each are distinguished by their exquisite details and slow, ingratiating melodies. Welcome Oblivion is not an album that comes on forcefully, and by many measures, it's the most measured record of Reznor's career, yet it's also his most melodic, showing that this former angry young man has a design to grow old gracefully.-- Allmusic.com

    Ride Out

Bob Seger has emerged from the studio equipped with a new album, Ride Out, set to be released on Capitol Records. The first single, "Detroit
Made," pays homage to America's love affair with the automobile. The uptempo song hit radio airwaves August 15, serving as the perfect backdrop to the
20th annual Woodward Dream Cruise, the world's largest one day celebration of classic car culture.

"I feel really good about this record," says Seger. "This album touches on how I think a lot of us feel about finding our place in a more complicated world - from how we appreciate things as simple and pure as love, to navigating through the corruption and violence that permeates the news. It sums up a lot of
feelings I have about a variety of subjects."

Produced by Seger, the new collection stays true to his legendary sound as he effortlessly marries rock, blues and country, yielding an album with all the
hallmarks of the rocker's deep catalog of hits. Seger began teasing tracks from the album during his 2013 tour, including "Detroit Made," "All of The
Roads" and "California Stars." Ride Out is Seger's first studio album since his 2006 platinum-certified Face The Promise and follows his 2011 platinum-certified release, Ultimate Hits: Rock and Roll Never Forgets.

Bob Seger has sold more than 51 million albums and has racked up 13 platinum and 7 multi-platinum RIAA-certified album sales awards in the U.S.
alone. He is both a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and Songwriters Hall of Fame inductee, and his Greatest Hits, Against The Wind, Night Moves, Stranger In
Town, Nine Tonight, and Live Bullet have been RIAA-certified for more than five million U.S. album sales each. The 1994 Greatest Hits collection was the
#1 best-selling catalog album in the U.S. during the past decade (2001-2009), as reported by Billboard/SoundScan.

First Time Audiophile Vinyl Release & Gatefold Cover Presentation

Produced By The Legendary Tom Dowd

Mastered Impeccably From The Original MCA Records Tapes By Joe Reagoso

After the success of their first three albums and an amazing
number of concerts and tours, Lynyrd Skynyrd followed things up rebel
style with the very hard rockin' fan favorite Gimme Back My Bullets.

As you would expect, this album is filled with stellar southern
fried rock and blues classics like the hard rock title track Gimme Back
My Bullets, the blues belter Cry For The Badman, and of course the
    brilliant Every Mother's Son .

In addition to these rock greats, this legendary Tom Dowd
produced session yielded more Skynyrd classics with the powerhouse
Double Trouble plus their amazing J.J. Cale interpretation of I Got The
    Same Old Blues.

The 1976 classic also featured the original Lynyrd Skynryd line up of the late great lead vocalist and all around rock 'n' roll hero
Ronnie Van Zant , lead guitar great Gary Rossington, the late greats
Allen Collins on guitar, Leon Wilkerson on bass and Billy Powell on
piano, with Artemus Pyle powering away on the drums.

Friday Music is no stranger to the musical legacy of the southern
rock royalty of Lynyrd Skynyrd. Therefore it is with much honor
to announce the first installment in our Lynryd Skynyrd 180 Gram

Celebrating over four decades in the music business, this English
native initially captivated millions of kids in the 70's with his Ziggy Stardust

edged recordings like his 2002 multi-platinum masterwork Heathen.

    The Natch'l Blues (Pure Pleasure)

    Musicians:

    • Taj Mahal (harmonica, guitar)

    • Jesse Edwin (guitar, piano, arranger)

    • Al Kooper (organ, piano)

    • Gary Gilmore (bass)

    • Chuck Blackwell, Earl Palmer (drums)

    Recording: May & October 1968

    Production: David Rubinson

    About Pure Pleasure

At the beginning of the 90s, in the early days of audiophile vinyl re-releases, the situation was fairly straightforward. Companies such as DCC, Mobile Fidelity, Classic Records and, of course, Pure Pleasure all maintained a mutual, unwritten ethical code: we would only use analogue tapes to manufacture records.

During the course of the present vinyl hype, many others have jumped on the bandwagon in the hope of securing a corner of the market. Very often they are not so ethical and use every imaginable source to master from: CDs, LPs, digital files, MP3s - or employed existent tools from the 80s and 90s for manufacturing.

A digital delay is gladly used when cutting a lacquer disc because tape machines with an analogue delay have become quite rare and are therefore expensive. When cutting the lacquer, the audio signal is delayed by one LP revolution against the signal, which controls the cutter head, and for this a digital delay is very often employed. Of course, the resultant sound signal is completely digital and thus only as good as this delay.

We should like to emphasize that Pure Pleasure Records on principle only uses the original master tape as the basis for the entirely analogue cutting of lacquer discs. In addition, the pressing tool is newly manufactured as a matter of principle.

We only employ existing tools for manufacturing if an improved result is not forthcoming, e.g. the title Elvis Is Back, which was mastered by Steve Hoffman and Kevin Gray, or several titles from our Philips Classics series, which in any case Willem Makkee cut from the original masters at the Emil Berliner Studios in the 90s. It goes without saying that we only used the mother and that new tools were made for our production.

To put it in a nutshell: we can ensure you that our releases are free from any kind of digital effects and that the lacquer discs are newly cut.

This title is not eligible for discount.

Some Days Are Better Than Others

Temporary Residence has waited with eager anticipation to release Matthew Coopers spellbinding soundtrack to Some Days Are Better Than Others since before his creative breakthrough album, Similes (released under his more widely known Eluvium moniker) was even made. The film stars James Mercer (Broken Bells, The Shins) and Carrie Brownstein (Portlandia, Sleater-Kinney) as strangers whose lives occasionally intersect as they navigate their way through the struggles of personal attachment and disconnection.

When viewing the film, Cooper observed themes being presented regarding our throw-away society, and realized that both he and Some Days Are Better Than Others director Matt McCormick shared a common interest in this world of things left behind and the emotional baggage that is connected to it, whether broken or simply tossed aside for something new; something once considered the future, turning into antiquated rubble. Cooper decided that using a collection of damaged instruments would be a fitting way to underscore this aspect of the film.

A long-time collector of odds and ends and junked musical instruments, Cooper has amassed an impressive array of thrift store and garage sale keyboards, foot pedals, and electronics over the years, always hoping to discover the ghosts hidden within and the unique properties they may possess.

The Helm are no strangers to the Hex Records roster. They released their initial 7 with the label before releasing their first full length with California mainstay Indecision Records. Two national tours later The Helm found themselves at an impasse, bringing in a new rhythm section and taking a break to focus on getting the new members acclimated to the vicious sounds which they excel at. After getting comfortable and writing some new songs Hex records once again approached them to rejoin the label, which they were happy to do. The result is Home, the new full length recorded by Chris Common (These Arms Are Snakes) that finds the band taking new twists and turns to their tired and true gritty hardcore attack. Moving beyond the simple His Hero Is Gone comparisons and taking cues from fellow Northwest noisemongers like Kiss It Goodbye this crew makes things interesting for the noise-damaged ear, yet still makes a lot of room for 2-minute anthems of mistrust for a rotten world.

Bo Diddley (Elias McDaniel) was truly an American original. There will never be another Bo Diddley nor anyone in the music
industry who could influence generations upon generations of aspiring rock 'n rollers like Bo Diddley has and continues to this
day, even years after his short time on earth.

Celebrating six decades in the music business, this Mississippian native initially captivated millions of kids in the fifties
with his first recordings like Bo Diddley and Say Man. He drove the rockers mad with his famous guitar riffs and boogie beat,
filled with poetic lyrics and a thrilling presence on the stage.

Bringing his original "Bo Diddley Beat" to Chess Records in early 1955, the Chicago based label and the pioneer rocker hit
a goldmine immediately with his arsenal of tunes that he presented to Phil and Leonard Chess. A lot of these great songs became
top charting singles which culminated in his masterwork album Go! Bo Diddley.

Kicking things off with one of his finest smash hits Cracking Up, Bo roars through a treasure trove of 11 more champions
which made this one of the most important and emulated albums of all time. The album features classic gems like his classics
Dearest Darling, Say Man, Don't Let It Go and The Clock Struck Twelve. Noted for his stellar guitar work, pretty much introducing his Bo Diddley Beat riff to a whole new generation of guitar players, Go! Bo Diddley was truly a primer for a ton of rock and
blues artists for years like Eric Burdon and The Animals, George Thorogood, Buddy Holly, The Rolling Stones, The Beatles and
    The Yardbirds.

Bo Diddley opened the doors for millions of music fans around the world to enjoy rock and blues, making him along with
Chuck Berry, Elvis Presley and Little Richard as one of the first pioneers of the popular recording business that we all enjoy to
    this day.
