Already the first bars foreshadow its potential, the music is reproduced with enormous clarity.- Hifi & Records

Since Lehmannaudio turned the "emergency exit" of classic hi-fi amplifiers into a gate to a new musical perception with their Linear back in 2004, headphone outputs with frustrating sound have become a thing of the past. Now the Linear D shows that things can even get better: the Linear's multi-award-winning analogue section has been upgraded with a high-resolution digital-analogue converter of the latest generation.

    Comfort and performance

The Linear D is the perfect complement to streamers and CD players. It recognises digital signals, automatically selects the optimal input and needs no input selector. The Sabre DAC from ESS on the quad-layer circuit board, which has been optimised against HF interference, offers both digital S/PDIF and Toslink inputs.

Low-loss mica capacitors on the mainboard and in the converter analogue filter as well as ultra fast amplifier stages on the converter board guarantee reference quality. Owing to three settings the Linear D adapts to the most diverse headphone-source combinations, and with one analogue and two digital inputs it also delivers a breathtakingly expressive performance as a preamp on active loudspeakers.

The Linear D makes people happy who want to enjoy music in an intense and pristine way and brings together those who share musical enjoyment: two parallel outputs on the discrete class A solid-state output stages powerfully feed two headphones of equal impedance without compromising the listening experience. SSC absorber feet decouple the Linear D from its base and provide calmness. So the Linear D sounds even more sculptural now: with lush, yet never ostentatious lows, delicate resolution and zero-gravity elegance over the entire frequency range.

Turn the massive, damped potentiometer of the Linear D. Rediscover your analogue and digital musical treasures!

    iFi Audio DC iPurifier

Have a question about this product? Please email our audio advisor or call 1-877-929-8729 with any questions or concerns regarding your equipment purchase.

With trickle-down technology from Abbingdon Music Research (AMR), the very latest product from iFi is the DC iPurifier; a noise-cancellation product aimed to enhance the existing, ubiquitous Switch Mode Power Supply (SMPS).

Generic SMPS designs are very noisy because they were never intended for audiophile applications.

The DC iPurifier sits in-between the SMPS and the device such as; router, DAC, set top box, media streamer, laptop or desk mixer. And with the latest Active Noise Cancellation® technology, from 5 volts all the way up to 24 volts (up to 3.5 amps) the DC iPurifier sharply reduces noise to improve the quality of the device.

Got SMPS? Just add the DC iPurifier

Generic Switch Mode Power Supply designs are noisy - but they were only intended for mainstream use so noise was never a consideration. Just insert the DC iPurifier between the existing noisy power supply and the source; noise is reduced by a factor of 316x to 100,000x.

Be it home or professional audio, this is the most simple and most effective way of improving audio performance from arguably, one of the most noisy sources in a computer audio system.

Active Noise Cancellation® derived from military radar technology

Drawing from the military field (specifically the Thales Spectra radar cancellation system deployed in the French Dassault Rafale jet fighter), iFi adapted this technology to exclusively introduce the Active Noise Cancellation® (ANC®) audio power system.

By generating a signal identical to the noise signal but in the exact opposite phase, it actively cancels all the incoming noise. ANC® is the perfect 'antidote' for power supply noise, the bane of all audio systems.

Across the audible range, measured noise is improved by 316x to 100,000x or by 50dB to 100dB respectively.

Sonically, the background and inner resolution to recordings is brought to the fore and no longer hidden. Sonics are much smoother, just like how good analogue should be. Nothing comes close.

Ultra wide-band design, effective from 1Hz to above 5GHz

iFi leaves no stone unturned; the DC iPurifier is a ground-up, ultra-wide band design.

Effective from 1Hz all the way up to 5GHz. Crucially the strongest performance is in the audible range of 20Hz to 20KHz.

    Built-in polarity protection

Red protection LED will be lit if the input polarity is reversed (If reversed polarity, please correct).

Compatible with all power supply designs 5V-24V/3.5A/84W

The DC iPurifier handles 5v through to 24V. Takes up to 3.5A or 84W. For different types of DC barrel connectors, the DC iPurifier works with 5.5 x 2.1mm but also ships with adapters for 5.5×2.5mm and 3.5×1.35mm. These three fittings cover the gamut of DC barrel connectors.

Professional audio applications typically require a 'centre negative' power supply. To lower noise with the DC iPurifier, use a 'centre positive' power supply at the input and use a special white 'inverter' at the output.

    AudioQuest JitterBug USB Filter

Have a question about this product? Please email our audio advisor or call 1-877-929-8729 with any questions or concerns regarding your equipment purchase.

    AudioQuest's new dual-function JitterBug is a USB
line (VBUS) and signal (data) filter. JitterBug
follows the footsteps of our award-winning,
category-defining DragonFly USB DAC, and our
    best-in-class, USB, Ethernet, FireWire and
    Thunderbolt digital interconnects, promising the
next step forward in high-performance computeraudio
    playback.

While USB (along with Ethernet) has become one
of the two most important and widely adopted
interfaces in the age of computer audio, it does
come with its own unique sets of liabilities-mainly
    sound-degrading noise currents. All computing
devices, whether they be laptops, phones, NAS or
    even dedicated "music servers," inherently
generate a significant amount of noise and
parasitic resonances. In addition to this, many
computers (the least offensive being laptops, as
they are required to meet rigorous safety
standards) can and often do contribute a
considerable amount or RFI and EMI pollution
onto the signal paths-all of which can easily find
its way onto your USB cables and into your audio
system. This noise and interference has many
    negative effects. Noise-compromised digital
circuitry increases jitter (dispersion in time) and
packet errors, resulting in distortion that causes a
comparatively flat and irritating sound. Noisecompromised
    analog circuitry also damages the
    sound's depth, warmth, and resolution.

Fortunately, AudioQuest has devised a solution for
    dealing with these liabilities. JitterBug's
    dual-circuitry measurably reduces unwanted noise
currents and parasitic resonances. It also reduces
jitter and packet errors (in some cases, packet
errors are completely eliminated.) The result is
clearer, more compelling sound, music, and
dialogue - a better audio experience.

Slightly smaller than our DragonFly USB DAC, and
    with a handsome, unassuming appearance,
JitterBug has a USB (male) plug on one end and a
USB (female) port on the opposite. For those who
already own DragonFly, JitterBug will be a fun and
affordable upgrade: Simply plug JitterBug into any
one of a computer's available USB ports, then
plug DragonFly into JitterBug's USB port.

But JitterBug is far more than an obvious partner
for DragonFly. In fact, its versatility may very
well match that of the USB standard itself:
JitterBug can be successfully used with external
USB DACs ranging from the very modest to the
absolute state of the art. Simply plug JitterBug
into an available USB port, and use a USB cable
to connect JitterBug to the DAC of choice.

Many computers include more than one USB
    port. For additional
    improvement to a system's
    overall sound, a second
JitterBug can be used in parallel
(but not in series) with the first.
    The improvement is audible
    through the active audio port,
    whether or not the second
    JitterBug fills an empty USB
port, or is used in series with
    some other peripheral, such as
    a printer. Note: We recommend
    no more than two JitterBug
filters per USB bus. If you do
not know how many USB buses
exist on a given device, err on the side of
caution: Presume that there is a single bus and
use no more than two JitterBugs.

JitterBug can also be used with mobile phones,
portable media devices, USB peripherals, and
    network storage/streaming devices. Many
receivers, DACs, and automobiles include USB
input ports that are compatible with iOS and
Android devices, enabling music lovers to use
their mobile phones or USB memory sticks as
audio sources. By first plugging a JitterBug into
the associated USB input port, the playback
performance of such media devices can be
significantly improved. In cases where a noisy
external computer peripheral (such as a printer,
camera, or hard drive) must be connected to a
computer-audio system, JitterBug can be used in
    series with the peripheral
    device. Similarly, streamers,
    Network Attached Storage
    devices, and routers may all
include USB ports, and all can
    benefit from JitterBug's noise
    filtering-again, regardless of
    whether the associated port has
    a device connected to it.

    Simply put, JitterBug's
    dual-circuitry measurably
    reduces the noise and ringing
that plague both the data and
power lines of USB ports. As
with many things in audio, the effect of
JitterBug on the overall sound of a system may
vary slightly, depending on the associated gear
    and application. Experimentation is
    enthusiastically encouraged. The results will
likely prove more than worth the effort.

At JitterBug's modest price of $49, the question
isn't whether your customers can afford it, but
whether they can afford not to use one or two.
