200-Gram Gatefold Two LPs Cut At 45 Rpm

Mastered By Bernie Grundman From The Original Analog Tapes

Award-Winning Album Includes The Hits "Angel," "Adia" And
    "Building A Mystery"

Three of Sarah McLachlan's biggest pop hits mark her fourth studio
album Surfacing. Released in July 1997, just as the first Lilith Fair tour hit
the road, McLachlan benefitted enormously from the timing. Her face
was on the cover of magazines across America and Canada; Surfacing
reached No. 2 on the U.S. Billboard 200 - a remarkable feat considering
that its predecessor, Fumbling Towards Ecstasy, peaked at No. 50.
Now, hear Surfacing on its definitive vinyl version - two 200-gram
LPs cut at 45 RPM by legendary mastering engineer Bernie Grundman
from the original analog tapes. The premium LPs plated and pressed
by Gary Salstrom and the crew at Quality Record Pressings are paired
with a deluxe gatefold Stoughton Printing tip-on jacket. The 45 RPM
pressing gives you four sides with a reduction in groove curvature and
decreased distortion as your cartridge nears the center of the record.
    That's a major sonic advantage!

There's the requisite number of gorgeously melodic and deeply heartfelt
songs here, writes reviewer Jeff Bateman - the addictive "Sweet
Surrender," the Hollywood-style ballad "I Love You," the sad, profound
"Angel," the flat-out spectacular "Witness." "Adia" and "Angel" were Top
5 hits; "Building a Mystery" hit the Top 15 and "Sweet Surrender" became
    a Top 30 hit.

The album won four Juno Awards including for Album of the Year.
"Building a Mystery" was awarded the Grammy Award for Best Female
Pop Vocal Performance, while the instrumental-only song "Last Dance"
won the Grammy Award for Best Pop Instrumental Performance.
McLachlan's bittersweet album proves again that what she and producer
Pierre Marchand release is cut from the finest of cloth. The Analogue
Productions/QRP pressing reissue treatment delivers sonics and luxury
packaging second to none for discerning collectors

    Surface To Air

The extraordinary two-piece Zombi has reappeared with Surface to Air, the long-awaited follow-up to its acclaimed debut Cosmos. Surface to Air teems with the stirring, trance-inducing deluges of rhythm and sound the duo is renowned for. Swelling waves of melodic synth ride atop a broad bass and drum foundation. Sequences of repetition roll, build, and unfold with the measured patience of master artisans. Less an album than a moving, breathing mass of symphonic sound; Surface to Air creates boundless moving pictures that are nothing short of breathtaking.

    Scratching The Surface (Pure Pleasure)

The Groundhogs' debut album is a long way from the 'classic' sound of the better-known 'Thank Christ for the Bomb/Split/Who Will Save the World?' trilogy. Indeed, the mellow classic blues through which the band pursues its nine tracks offer the unsuspecting listener little more than a direct blast from the peak of the British blues boom past. Early Fleetwood Mac, Chicken Shack, and Savoy Brown all haunted precisely the same corridors as Scratching The Surface, with only the occasional burst of fuzzed Tony McPhee guitar to distinguish the sonics from the rest of the pack. That said, Scratching The Surface ranks among the finest albums to emerge out of that entire period, a moody shuffle that includes an epic recounting of the Chicago classic Still a Fool and which matches five solid McPhee originals with a pair of blistering contributions from outgoing harmonica whiz Steve Rye. In fact, his Early in the Morning and You Don't Love Me might well be the album's best numbers, a discrepancy that puts one in mind of another of the blues boom's hottest acts, Jethro Tull, and just how much they changed once a founding member (Mick Abrahams) departed. Again, if you arrive at Scratching The Surface in search of a fresh Cherry Red or Status People, you'll probably be disappointed. But if you want to hear the blues sluicing straight out of the Southern England Delta, there are precious few better introductions.

    Musicians:

    • Tony McPhee (guitar, vocal)

    • Steve Rye (harmonica, vocal)

    • Pete Cruikshank (bass)

    • Ken Pustelnik (drums)

Recording: October 1968 at the Marquee Studios, London, by Gery Collins
    Production: Mike Batt

    About Pure Pleasure

At the beginning of the 90s, in the early days of audiophile vinyl re-releases, the situation was fairly straightforward. Companies such as DCC, Mobile Fidelity, Classic Records and, of course, Pure Pleasure all maintained a mutual, unwritten ethical code: we would only use analogue tapes to manufacture records.

During the course of the present vinyl hype, many others have jumped on the bandwagon in the hope of securing a corner of the market. Very often they are not so ethical and use every imaginable source to master from: CDs, LPs, digital files, MP3s - or employed existent tools from the 80s and 90s for manufacturing.

A digital delay is gladly used when cutting a lacquer disc because tape machines with an analogue delay have become quite rare and are therefore expensive. When cutting the lacquer, the audio signal is delayed by one LP revolution against the signal, which controls the cutter head, and for this a digital delay is very often employed. Of course, the resultant sound signal is completely digital and thus only as good as this delay.

We should like to emphasize that Pure Pleasure Records on principle only uses the original master tape as the basis for the entirely analogue cutting of lacquer discs. In addition, the pressing tool is newly manufactured as a matter of principle.

We only employ existing tools for manufacturing if an improved result is not forthcoming, e.g. the title Elvis Is Back, which was mastered by Steve Hoffman and Kevin Gray, or several titles from our Philips Classics series, which in any case Willem Makkee cut from the original masters at the Emil Berliner Studios in the 90s. It goes without saying that we only used the mother and that new tools were made for our production.

To put it in a nutshell: we can ensure you that our releases are free from any kind of digital effects and that the lacquer discs are newly cut.

Plated And Pressed At Quality Record Pressings!

Features Great Mclachlan Hits Performed Live: Building A Mystery, I Will Remember You, Adia And Angel

The Analogue Productions/QRP pressing reissue treatment delivers sonics and luxury packaging second to none for discerning collectors. Now we've given three titles by Canadian songstress Sarah McLachlan this premier makeover and you reap the benefits: Solace, Mirrorball and Afterglow.

Grafted from McLachlan's supremely satisfying 1998 performances, Mirrorball is drawn almost equally from the multiplatinum Surfacing and its superior predecessor, Fumbling Towards Ecstasy. (Included also is the lovely, hard-to-come-by 'I Will Remember You.') Live, a haunting ballad such as Possession becomes a fevered, aggressive bit of psychedelia. Hold On reveals new depths when performed behind the beat with morphing time signatures and driving piano.

McLachlan's warmly expressive voice is still at the epicenter of her performances. She roams through these 14 songs with agile ease, riding the rails between singing for dramatic arena effect - huskily growling, airily trilling - and knowing what to play down with her sensually controlled crooning (witness such gems as Fumbling's title song and 'Good Enough'). Overall, McLachlan's vocals match the heavily percussive intensity of her band and the build of her backing vocalists, producing a more spacious sound than the precise pitch rendered on her studio recordings. - Amazon.com

Coin Coin Chapter Three: River Run Thee

"Roberts is carving out her own aesthetic space, startling in its originality and gripping in its historic and social power." - Peter Margasak

"Primarily interrogating her own sense of identity as an African American woman, Roberts calls upon numerous other voices - from her family's history, her culture's mythology - to create living artifacts of collective cultural memory: simultaneously disorienting and exhilarating in their chaotic multiplicity." - The Quietus

"Roberts is a major talent." - The Wire

Matana Roberts is one of the most acclaimed, socio-politically conscious and aesthetically intrepid composers, band leaders, horn players and experimental sound practitioners of the past decade. Her multi-chapter Coin Coin work, which Constellation began documenting in 2011, has placed her at the forefront of stylistic
innovation and radicalization, transcending jazz - or any other genre boundaries - while confirming the deep substance and soul that guides her compositional agenda. Following the critical accolades that the first two Coin Coin chapters have thus far received, the past year has been marked by further career-defining
recognition for her body of iconoclastic work: Roberts was a recipient of both the Herb Alpert Award in the Arts and the Doris Duke Impact Award in 2014.

Roberts has long employed the phrase "panoramic sound quilting" to describe the
process surrounding her Coin Coin work. The third chapter in her Coin Coin series
finds Roberts implementing this metaphor most explicitly, constructing a sound art
tapestry from field recordings, loop and effects pedals, and spoken word recitations,
alongside her saxophone and singing voices. Coin Coin Chapter Three: river run thee
could arguably be considered first and foremost a vocal work, and notwithstanding
its experimental and esoteric structure, a deeply narrative work as well. Not unlike
2013's Coin Coin Chapter Two: Mississippi Moonchile, the new chapter unfolds as an
uninterrupted album-length flow, this time in what Roberts calls "a fever dream" of
sonic material, woven in surrealist fashion. Fragments of traditional song act as the
main touchstones on the album, with Roberts' singing voice riding atop waves of
radiophonic texture, layered spoken word and an often dislocated, wandering horn

Working once again with engineer Radwan Ghazi Moumneh, and returning again to
Montreal's Hotel2Tango studio (the location for her Chapter One recording in 2010),
Roberts ran the river run thee tape back multiple times, adding new layers in real
time, from start to finish (as opposed to calculated, isolated overdubs). The result is
a visceral audio document that combines structure and improvisation in the fullest
sense: not just in the playing and performing, but in the very marrow of the work's
compositional DNA. It is also, for the first time in the Coin Coin cycle, a solo work,
emerging from a lengthy solitary road trip Roberts took through the American South
in early 2014, amassing historical and documentary information through interviews,
    site visits and field recordings.

Coin Coin Chapter Three: river run thee signals yet another highly adventurous and
socially engaged definition of what Jazz can mean in this day and age, and a
fascinating extension of the Coin Coin cycle, where rather than surfacing and
reactivating through the group dynamics of a musical ensemble, history is inhaled
and exhaled through a solitary practice seeking to evoke and echo its tangled
    thicket of febrile strands.

    We Move

Written in constant transition - and recorded between Toronto, Dublin and London - 'We Move' is James Vincent McMorrow's most expansive, generous and ambitious record to date. There is, on the other hand, something more stripped-back - vulnerable, even - surfacing for the first time: far from the dense, protective imagery at the heart of 'Post Tropical', 'We Move' is ultimately a record open in its portrait of anxiety and social unease. For McMorrow, it's about celebrating mental fragility - and how we move forward in life - rather than "people listening to my songs and believing that I'm out in the forest all day long, thinking about trees. Because I'm actually at home, trying to convince myself to go out and get milk."

The first steps to 'We Move' took place in 2014, when James - having been asked to write for different artists' projects - started sketching out ideas for others on tour (and subsequently stopped over-analysing his own work). Intent on doing the opposite of everything he'd done thus far, McMorrow then came off the road, but kept exploring: first through Barcelona, then Canada, and stopping in Los Angeles for six particularly fish-out-of-water months, where the songs for the album crystallised. He returned to Dublin determined not to just produce another album himself, but to work with people who could articulate the unique world he heard in his head ("I grew up wanting to write songs like Neil Young but produce them like The Neptunes"). And so James reached out to a few key co-producers he'd met whilst travelling, who formed the backbone of 'We Move': namely, Nineteen85 (Drake, DVSN), Two Inch Punch (Sam Smith, Years & Years), and Frank Dukes (Kanye West, Rihanna). Mixing took place largely in Miami with one of McMorrow's all-time heroes, Jimmy Douglass - known for his work from Donny Hathaway through to Timbaland - who finessed the record's warm, vintage yet forward-thinking feel.

The result is an album about movement - geographically, mentally, emotionally - which remains focused on finding your place in that future. First track 'Rising Water' is starkly-produced and skyscraper-sized in its sense of catharsis ("I never once was sad for what I've done"): 'Evil', meanwhile, questions whether you might in fact be a bad person, because you don't see life the way other people do (its tone is celebratory rather than ominous, however). Heavier still is 'I Lie Awake Every Night', which sees James address for the first time the eating disorder he has battled since he was a child ("it's about lying in hospital when I was a kid, thinking I shouldn't be there, and trying to reconcile those two things"). 'We Move' reacts against McMorrow's instincts to obscure ideas such as this, and ultimately embraces a shared, collective awkwardness, and the idea that maybe we're all putting on a brave face in some way.

Beginning with Rising Water, 'We Move' continues a remarkable journey for the Dublin-born singer and songwriter, whose early work offered little clue as to the sounds and situations that would follow. It's a remarkably assured collection, informed by this idea that you might not have to listen to others when they tell you how they think life is supposed to go; and that as you grow up, you lose things along the way. Rather, 'We Move' suggests it's possible to keep what you want to keep, and lose what you want to lose.

    Be More Kind

Frank Turner has announced his seventh studio album, Be More Kind, which is set for release via Interscope Records. Months after the release of Songbook, a career-spanning retrospective which also saw reworked versions of tracks from across the past decade, Be More Kind represents a thematic and sonic line in the sand for the 36-year-old. The new album combines raw political and personal universal anthems with the intricate folk and punk roar trademarks of Turner's sound imbued with new, bold experimental shades.

Be More Kind was produced by Charlie Hugall (Florence And The Machine, Halsey) and White Denim's Austin Jenkins and Joshua Block. "I wanted to try and get out of my comfort zone and do something different," says Turner. Originally, he contacted Jenkins and Block at their Niles City Sound studio in Fort Worth, Texas with the idea of recording a soul album in the vein of Dexys Midnight Runners. He found they were equally enthusiastic when he changed his mind and decided he wanted to record a more rock-led album with tints of electronic pop. "I have an obscure corner of my music taste where I'm into glitch electronic music and Warp Records," says Turner. "It's not an electronic record but I got into arpeggiator synths." While 2015's Positive Songs for Negative People was cut in nine intense days, Be More Kind was made over a period of seven months giving Turner the opportunity to turn songs on their head, try different versions, and shake up the dynamics within his band.

Turner was halfway through writing a very different sort of album, a concept record about women from history who had been ignored, when he was reading a collection of Clive James's poetry and one particular line compelled him to re-think his direction. The line, from a poem called Leçons Des TÉnèbres, reads: "I should have been more kind. It is my fate / To find this out, but find it out too late." "It devastated me the first time I read it," Turner says. "A lot of older, wiser people tend to say things like that, that the things that come out in the wash at the end of a human life are the way you treated the people around you. In the modern world, that's a lesson that all of us, myself included, could do to learn."

Turner and his band, The Sleeping Souls, were touring America in 2016 "when the world decided to go collectively nuts" and the songs that make up Be More Kind started to come together. "Somewhere in the record, there's a convergence of the ideas of personal and political, which is a central theme of the album," Turner says. One of the other driving themes of the album is empathy, even for your enemy. "You should at least be able to inhabit the mental universe of the people you disagree with. If you can't do that, then how do you communicate with people other than through force of arms, which is something we all agree is a bad idea."

The first track to be released from Be More Kind is "1933", a clattering, state-of-the-nation anthem. Furious and direct, it's inspired by articles Turner saw that suggested the alt-right was punk rock. "That filled me with a mixture of incredulity and anger," says Turner. "The idea that Breitbart or Steve Bannon think they have anything to do with punk rock makes me extremely angry." The other theme in the track is summed up by the line, "If I was one of the greatest generation / I'd be pissed / I'd be screaming at my grandkids / that we already did this." "These ideas are surfacing again that collectively as a species we've already shot down," says Turner.

Along the way, Noah's Ark took shape, where heart-offerings of friends, family, loved ones and lost ones surface gracefully, contributing depth to the narrative journey. Noah's Ark is the result of a rootless reality, a drifting consciousness across state lines, date lines, time lines...connected to the past, vague about the future. But the heart of these songs is always issued from a tender present.

    Undercurrent

Matisyahu's sixth studio album, Undercurrent, is musically his most courageous and lyrically his most vulnerable release to date. The music comes from trust. Trust in his band. There are no post-production bells and whistles, excessive overdub distractions, or litany of special guests.

On Undercurrent, the vulnerability felt throughout the lyrical narrative comes from acceptance in uncertainty. It's a musical reframing of the Jewish philosophical differences between the constant of faith and the immediacy of trust. Together, Matisyahu and his band have crafted a fully realized concept album about the forces within. The undercurrents of life, pulling at us all beneath the surface and unseen by those looking only at the surface.

    Public Strain

On their debut self-titled album, Women embraced sonic brashness that deeper examination revealed to be tinted with sly pop melody. With their second album Public Strain, the band has honed a sound truthful to that reverb drenched noise while allowing the pop sensibilities to surface into clearer focus. This exact balance of delicate and dense is a pervasive thread throughout the album, reflecting the contradiction of the band's environment buried in urban sprawl framed by prairie landscape.

    Zerostat 3

In the laboratory the Milty Zerostat keeps film glass plastic ware and lenses dust and lint free. It also prevents charged particles from flying during weighting or transfer of particles. And the Zerostat gun finds wide use among those who possess and maintain phonograph record collections.

Each Zerostat unit is shipped with complete instructions and information about a special 'Test Procedure' to validate that the unit is working properly. Each Zerostat unit has a 'two cycle' type of operation, when the trigger is squeezed, positive ions are generated and when the trigger is relaxed, negative ions flow. This means that it is possible to induce a charge on a neutral surface using the Zerostat. If the trigger is squeezed and the Zerostat is then removed from the surface (before allowing the trigger to return to its original position) a positive charge will be induced. Similarly, pointing the Zerostat at the surface only for the release of the trigger will induce a negative charge.

Each squeeze of the trigger results in a discharge, when stated in units of charge, is 1.5 Coulombs. One can reasonably expect on the order of 10,000 such 'squeeze cycles' during the lifetime of the Zerostat. The Zerostat needs no batteries or electrical supply nor does it contain any radioactive components.

The Zerostat is lightweight highly portable and easy to control and handle.

Gruv Glide Record Cleaning Solution 4.5 Oz

Gruv Glide Will Lower Your Noise Floor, Reduce Surface Noise and Extend Stylus Life! A Stereophile Recommended Product! Aerosol formula provides a microscopic layer of lubrication that reduces record wear and prevents static build-up. Comes in a kit with two pads. The new formulation leaves no residue, reduces surface noise and extends stylus life.

Gruv-Glide is a dry record treatment that actually enhances the fidelity of the record. Prior to its development, even the highest quality cartridge could not produce the maximum available reproduction from the phono record. Now for the first time, Gruv-Glide will allow you to hear more micro-detail while bringing out the best possible sound.

Gruv-Glide not only increases fidelity, but also reduces surface noise, removes static, and cleans the record. The treated record and cartridge stylus will last longer due to the increased tracking ability and reduced friction. One application lasts for an indefinite period of time. The kit will treat at least 200 records when used as directed, making it a very economical record care system.

Wildcat is sure to help you scratch deeper into your favorite records. Select metals, exact geometry, and low-distortion insulation offer significant improvements over almost any stock phono cable.

SOLID PERFECT-SURFACE COPPER CONDUCTORS (PSC): Perfect-Surface Copper has an astonishingly smooth and pure surface. Proprietary metal-processing technology protects the wire's surface at every stage of drawing and fabrication. When high-purity low-oxide copper is kept as soft, pure and smooth as possible, it becomes a wonderfully low-distortion conductor. For over 30 years AudioQuest has pioneered the use of superior metals; yet even we were surprised by this huge leap in performance. PSC clearly outperforms previous AQ metals that cost over ten times as much. Electrical and magnetic interaction between strands in a conventional cable is the greatest source of distortion, often causing a somewhat dirty, harsh sound. Solid conductors are fundamental toward achieving Wildcat's very clean sound.

FOAMED-POLYETHYLENE INSULATION: Any solid material adjacent to a conductor is actually part of an imperfect circuit. Wire insulation and circuit board materials all absorb energy (loss). Some of this energy is stored and then released as distortion. Wildcat uses air-filled Foamed-Polyethylene Insulation because air absorbs next to no energy and Polyethylene is low-loss and has a benign distortion profile. Thanks to all the air in Foamed-PE, it causes much less of the out-of-focus effect common to other materials.

TERMINATIONS: Wildcat's gold-plated RCA plugs use a proprietary design that eliminates the distortion caused by the extra contact inside most plugs. Because the ground shells are stamped instead of machined, the metal can be chosen for low distortion instead of machinability. A combination of these major ingredients, and many more subtle details add up to explain how Wildcat can sound so clean, clear and dynamic.
