Street Survivors1977 Smash Remains South Rock Legends Finest Hour: Includes Whats Your Name and That Smell
Last Album Made By Original Members Ronnie Van Zant and Allen Collins
Mastered on Mobile Fidelitys World-Renowned Mastering System and Pressed at RTI
Triple-Guitar Front of Steve Gaines, Gary Rossington, and Collins Remains Rocks Most Formidable Assembly of Six-String Players
Street Survivors remains Lynyrd Skynyrds finest hour, and for many reasons. The last album recorded with original vocalist Ronnie Van Zant and guitarist Steve Gaines, who passed away in a tragic plane accident three days after its release, the 1977 set is both mythical for its historical significance as well as infallible songwriting quality. Then there's the triple-guitar front of Collins, Gary Rossington, and Steve Gaines, which, together, comprise the most formidable combination of lead six-string players assembled on an original album. Add in freshly inspired performances and classic Muscle Shoals production, and you have a timeless work of art.
Mastered from the original master tapes and pressed at RTI (the best record plant in North America), Mobile Fidelity Silver Series' limited edition LP presents Skynyrds landmark effort in a dynamic, organic, soulful, and balanced sound that puts the musicians on a wide soundstage that will make you think they are standing on a stage in your room. In particular, Van Zants re-energized singing comes through with utmost clarity and verve. The complex web of guitars is now unraveled, with each of the instrumentalists possessing their own space, allowing their contributions to assume a transparency that further lends to the musics impact. Background vocals, too, rise up above what had heretofore been an artificial ceiling.
Produced by iconic producer Tom Dowd, Street Survivors is drenched in earthy vibes and live-from-the-floor rawness, the sense of spontaneity and interplay underlining the groups taut albeit loose material. Rebounding from 1975s solid yet semi-formulaic Nuthin Fancy and the following years equally lukewarm Gimme Back My Bullets, Skynyrd comes out firing on Street Survivors and never let up. The septets nucleus was never better. It's lamentable that this stands as the lineups only studio record together, but the music here makes you all the more thankful for the chance to at least here them reach their potential at least once.
Gaines incredible abilities spur on his mates, which respond with strong ideas and even stronger performances. Melodies are sharp, hooks are abundant, rhythms in command. A miasma of blues, rock, country, gospel, and soul informs the arrangements, and those three guitarists play as if their lives depended on getting everything just right. Songs flow with an effortless ease, and whether its the slithering organ-backed rollick of I Never Dreamed, swampy drug-abuse warning That Smell, or autobiographical honky-tonk Ain't No Good Life, Skynryd clicks on all cylinders. Swagger, swing, and strut. What an album.
Honor Van Zant and Collins memories, and revisit a Southern rock masterpiece, by acquiring this collectable version of Street Survivors.

YMO's second album Solid State Survivor was released in 1979, and represented numerous crossover tracks from Techno to New Wave. The Survivors' SuiteThe Survivors' Suite, recorded in 1976, is the crowning achievement of Keith Jarrett's "American Quartet" with Dewey Redman, Charlie Haden and Paul Motian, and one of the all-time enduring masterpieces in the ECM catalogue. Melody Maker: "The Survivors' Suite is a brilliantly organized and full-blooded work which provides the perfect setting for all four talents. This is a very complete record. It creates its own universe and explores it thoroughly, leaving the listener awed and satisfied... An unashamedly ardent album, Jarrett's very finest." The Wire: "The labyrinthine composition seems to redefine 'intensity' each time it turns a corner. The drive toward the climax of Side Two is among the most moving in modern music, Dewey Redman absolutely titanic over the surging rhythms."

The Time Is RightA soul survivor in every sense of the term, this alto saxophonist is one of the few remaining jazz artists who made a major impact on the jazz community via an extensive run with producer Alfred Lion and the Blue Note label (Horace Silver being another Blue Note legend that comes to mind). From his first recordings for the label with Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers, it was clear that Lou Donaldson put melody and sound at a premium, coming up with an amalgam that combined the creamy smoothness of Johnny Hodges with the quicksilver bop inflections of Charlie Parker. If You Have Ghost EPEarlier 2013, the flamboyant Swedish metal band Ghost B.C. - or, if you don't care about the only-in-America legal silliness that led to the name change, just Ghost - linked up with producer and famous rock dude Dave Grohl and covered Abba's "I'm A Marionette." Now, Ghost releases an EP of covers called If You Have Ghost; it'll also include their version of Depeche Mode's "Waiting For The Night."
For the EP's title track, the band once again hooked up with Grohl, who produced their version of "If You Have Ghosts," a 1981 freakout from the troubled Texan psych-rock survivor Roky Erickson.

50After five decades of recording and touring, veteran British songwriter and guitar sage Michael Chapman has finally made what he calls his "American record," and the aptly titled 50 now stands as his late career masterwork, a moving legacy statement by a legend. Backed by a collaborative group of friends and acolytes-Steve Gunn (who also produced), Nathan Bowles (Pelt), James Elkington (Jeff Tweedy), Jason Meagher (No-Neck Blues Band), Jimi SeiTang (Rhyton), and fellow UK songwriting luminary Bridget St John-Chapman tears into both bold renderings of new songs and radical reinterpretations of material from his revered catalog, the crack band adeptly scaling the same rarefied sonic heights of classic Harvest albums like Fully Qualified Survivor, guided by a true survivor's instinct, wit, and wisdom. The result is a sublime chiaroscuro self-portrait, more shadow than light, as an invigorated Chapman wrestles with weighty themes of travel, memory, mortality, and redemption, his world-weary whispers assuming the incandescent power of prophecy. Workin' With the Miles Davis Quintet (Awaiting Repress)Undeniably one of the best small bands in the history of jazz, the Miles Davis quintet of the mid-1950s made history at the Cafe Bohemia on Manhattan's Barrow Street and in the New Jersey studio of Rudy Van Gelder for Prestige. This is the 3rd in a series of four LPs taped in two marathon studio sessions, done in the style of sets at the Bohemia, producing music of high energy and immediacy. This is a mix of standards and originals, up-tempos and ballads, and a trio number, Ahmad's Blues. Miles is the sole survivor of this quintet but the music made in the mid-50's period will live forever. The excitement of the emerging John Coltrane; the informed, melodic swing of Red Garland; the tremendous snap and pop of the rhythm trio of Garland, Paul Chambers and Philly Joe Jones, and Miles' poignancy and intense swing. Lost Themes IIThe musical world of Lost Themes II is also a wider one than that of its predecessor. More electric and acoustic guitar help flesh out the songs, still driven by Carpenter's trademark minimal synth. This manifests itself brilliantly in songs like lead single Distant Dream, which hitches a familiar Carpenterian beat to an expressive drum performance and rides it to a thrilling conclusion. The eerie Angel's Asylum lets an ethereal synth line command the first three-quarters of the song, before turning over the melody to an acoustic guitar, and Virtual Survivor delivers a blast of the sci-fi menace that characterized his great scores for films like Assault on Precinct 13 and They Live. WARB-RHI-278xJools Holland & his Rhythm & Blues Orchestra
Sirens Of SongA purveyor and survivor of Britpop (with band Squeeze), solo artist, author, and television presenter, Jools Holland is prominent as one of British music's most recognized and trustworthy.
A couple of years back, Holland's talent for composition was refreshed with 2012's The Golden Age Of Song, a star-studded effort. Holland must have had the itch to repeat that highly successful and pleasant experience, only this time around he's kept it between him and the ladies. What emerges is 14 tracks of originals and reworked gems starring some of the best female voices in the business.
What Holland nails here are his choices of leading ladies for each track, which offer so much in the way of delightfully surprising and sublime covers. Jamaican songstress Ruby Turner sasses up Ray Charles' Jumpin' In The Morning, our own pop princess Kylie Minogue puts her pout to The Clash's Should I Stay Or Should I Go, and Emeli SandÉ admirably takes on 1920s standard Love Me Or Leave Me. Among the standouts, though, are Louise Marshall's A Vow, a poem by one of Holland's favourite English poets, Wendy Cope; Joss Stone's soulful attack in Letting Me Down; and the playful ska in Monkey Man, brought to life by the late, great Amy Winehouse.
Holland's orchestra never falters, nor do the man's fingers on the ivories, and running throughout is a vibrant sense of celebration for not only these skilfull lasses but for the sheer act of making music with many different talents.

While We're Young - SoundtrackWhile We're Young is Noah Baumbach's sparkling follow-up to his 2012 hit Frances Ha. No film has better captured the weird, upended logic of urban sophisticates: the older ones embrace their iPads and
Netflix, the young ones crave vinyl records and vintage VHS tapes.
The film follows Ben Stiller and Naomi Watts as Josh and Cornelia, a childless New York married couple in their mid-forties. As their other friends all start having children, the couple gravitates toward a young hipster couple named Jamie (Adam Driver) and Darby (Amanda Seyfried). He's an aspiring documentary filmmaker, avocation Josh already has. Soon the older couple begins enjoying the energy they feel hanging out with the younger generation, but eventually Josh begins to suspect his new best friend might not be as straightforward
and trustworthy as he thought.
The soundtrack is filled with classics such as Paul McCartney's "1985," Lionel Richie's "All Night Long (All Night)," Survivor's "Eye of The Tiger," or David Bowie's "Golden Years" just to name a few. The score to the film comes courtesy of LCD Soundsystem's own James Murphy.1. Golden Years - James Murphy

La PesteAlabama 3's second album shows off their trademark uplifting quality, albeit in a "Screamadelica"-style fusion of euphoria and melancholy. Songs like SAD EYED LADY OF THE LOWLIFE and recent single TOO SICK TO PRAY have a gospel-like hugeness about them, while WADE INTO THE WATER and MANSION ON THE HILL twang with countrified swagger.
The album runs the gamut of emotions in the face of adversity: from the incandescent beauty of the shimmering WALKING IN MY SLEEP and the closing SINKING " to the claustrophobic beats of COCAINE (KILLED MY COMMUNITY) and the energy rush of STRANGE, adding a sense of dope-fuelled urban paranoia.Of particular note are a twisted beat-heavy cover of the Eagles' HOTEL CALIFORNIA, throwing a totally new slant on the song as the last cocaine-addled stop on the country musician's road to oblivion, and THE THRILLS HAVE GONE, whose spoken word contribution from Birmingham 6 survivor Paddy Hill brings into focus exactly what the band mean when they talk about injustice.
LA PESTE (THE PLAGUE) may well be HIV, computer viruses or simply a global decline in justice and morality, but Alabama 3 are imploring us to come together and get loaded anyway. After all, we all have to die sometime. -PHASE9.tv1. Too Sick Too Pray

Beauty & Ruin"It's a song cycle. A narrative. It's nobody's story but my own I ran so
fast from my past that I caught up with myself. This album is
acknowledging that and dealing with every year getting a little tougher."
Bob Mould's new album Beauty & Ruin is a twelve-track journey of loss,
reflection, conciliation, and coming through the other side. It may very well
be the most epic emotional roller coaster ever pressed into 36 minutes.
Well into his fourth decade as a singer-songwriter, Mould is as relevant,
ferocious, and poignant as he has ever been. Much of Beauty & Ruin deals
with the passing of Mould's father in October 2012, Bob's struggle to come
to terms with it, himself, and his own identity and legacy, and repercussions
of all of the above on his ongoing relationships in the land of the living.
Beauty & Ruin is a challenging work of raw beauty-and may well be Bob
Mould's finest work since his 1989 solo debut, Workbook.
Bob Mould's journey as singer-songwriter, guitarist, author, DJ, and all-around
MVP began in 1979 with the formation of HÜsker DÜ. In 1988, Mould began
the first part of a solo career producing the aforementioned Workbook and the
heavy Black Sheets of Rain. In 1992, Bob gave the world Sugar, a reimagined
power trio that toured the globe and produced two albums and an EP: Copper
Blue, Beaster, and File Under: Easy Listening. From these releases came a cache
of songs-"Helpless," "Hoover Dam," "If I Can't Change Your Mind,"
"Your Favorite Thing"-that remain staples of Bob's live shows to this day.
In fall 2012, Bob gave the world Silver Age, his debut album for Merge
Records and the first to feature current bandmates Jason Narducy and Jon
Wurster. The subsequent touring covered four continents, ending in October
2013 in South America. Beauty & Ruin is in large part the sound of this band,
on the road relentlessly, congealing into the tightest unit to surround Bob
in his storied career. Two days after returning from South America, the trio
reconvened in Chicago to begin the recording of Beauty & Ruin. The
October 2013 session at Steve Albini's famed studio complex Electrical Audio
consisted of nine days of band tracking and five days of layering guitars. The
following month, Bob returned to Different Fur Studios in his hometown of
San Francisco to finish lyrics for six songs, add vocals, and mix the album.
Beauty & Ruin is a product of a survivor who refuses to give up, thrives
through his work, and subsequently embraces the many changes around and
within himself. Bob smartly declares the album as "yet another bonus round,
and I am very grateful."1. Low Season

Generation Void3rd full length album by Iron Man.
Maryland-spawned doom titans Iron Man seemed to drop off the face of the earth after their first two albums, 1993's Black Night and 1994's The Passage, shook the heavy metal world by the scruff of its neck and forced it to bang any head that didn't already bang, as Metallica would have put it. With little rhyme or reason, all of five years would elapse until the group's return to activity via 1999's Generation Void LP, squandering any upward momentum Iron Man might have attained, but belatedly proving that they remained a force to be reckoned with when they actually showed up. So let's take it from the top: most fans and critics would agree that Iron Man's strengths always lay in energized doom templates, and the latest songs cut from that cloth on this album, such as On the Mountain, Boston Strangler, and As the Gods Have Spoken, definitely didn't disappoint this time around, either. At the same time, less orthodox new offerings like Forever Yours and Shadows of Darkness continued to broaden Iron Man's creative resources with leaner heavy metal styles (the N.W.O.B.H.M., for example) and rock-based qualities, revealing that the intervening years of inactivity didn't elapse without some sonic transformation. In fact, stately metal ballads like Winds of Change and the album's title track recalled classic mid-'70s efforts by Judas Priest like Beyond the Realms of Death (with the added benefit of Morris' transcendent soloing), and, alongside tougher numbers like Survivor and King of Kings, which could very well have passed for Stained Class outtakes, they qualified Generation Void as the first Iron Man album where the band's deep-seated Black Sabbath influences were dethroned by another band's. But, given the typically strong material that resulted, there was little cause for complaint, especially from Iron Man's long deprived fan base, which would amazingly have to put up with another Rip Van Winkle-like ten years before getting their gauntlets on the band's fourth studio album, 2010's I Have Returned.

Coming on the heels of Just a Little Lovin', Lynne's critically acclaimed 2008 tribute to Dustry Springfield, Tears, Lies, And Alibis affirms her position as a visionary, iconoclastic artist who deftly weaves country, soul, rock, blues, pop and folk influences to forge her own unique style.

...Ya Know? (Awaiting Repress)BMG Rights Management presents Joey Ramone's second solo album, "...Ya Know?", eleven years after his life was cruelly cut short by lymphoma. The tracks were drawn from a cache of demos and unreleased recordings that Joey had cut at various times during the last decade and a half of his life.
His brother, musician Mickey Leigh, executive produced the project. It was of the utmost importance to me that these remaining songs of Joey's be finished properly, and made available for the world to hear, Leigh says of "...Ya Know?", which is comprised primarily of never-before-heard songs written and sung by his brother.
But this is no half-baked grab-bag of odds and ends. Rather, it's a riveting collection of first-rate songs that embody Joey's trademark intensity and wit, and that can stand proudly alongside his most beloved Ramones compositions. It's also a fitting, if belated, follow-up to Joey's first solo album Don't Worry About Me, which was recorded just prior to his death and released the following year.
"...Ya Know?", whose title refers to the phrase that was a ubiquitous staple of Joey's conversation, adds a significant new chapter to the seminal punk icon's hugely influential body of work. Among the many talented people Mickey Leigh and Joey's manager Dave Frey reached out to in bringing "...Ya Know?" to fruition was veteran producer Ed Stasium, who was behind the board for many of the Ramones' greatest albums, including their early classics Leave Home, Rocket to Russia and Road to Ruin.
In addition to producing ten of the album's fifteen tracks, Stasium also contributed instrumentation and vocals to each. The swaggering album-opener Rock 'n' Roll Is the Answer (co-written with Plasmatics guitarist Richie Stotts) will be released as a limited-edition 7" single for Record Store Day on April 21, 2012.
That song and the hometown shout-out New York City demonstrate Joey's knack for channeling his personal passions into bracing anthems. The playfully breezy Make Me Tremble (which Joey wrote and recorded with Dictators founder Andy Shernoff) and the bittersweet acoustic ballad Waiting for That Railroad find him exploring some of the more introspective territory that he'd been unable to visit within the format of his former band.
Elsewhere on "...Ya Know?", I Couldn't Sleep is a collaboration between brothers Joey and Mickey, who also teamed up to record a romantic alternate version of the Ramones' holiday classic Merry Christmas (I Don't Want to Fight Tonight) in Joey's apartment. Meanwhile, a previously unreleased reprise of Joey's late-period Ramones tune Life's A Gas ends the album on an appropriately uplifting note.
Also contributing to "...Ya Know?" is an assortment of musicians and producers whose prior relationships with Joey help to give the album an organic vibe that enhances its power and character. The cast of players includes Joan Jett, and Little Steven Van Zandt, who plays guitar on Party Line and wrote the album's poignant liner notes, along with such notables as former Ramones drummer Richie Ramone, Bun E. Carlos of Cheap Trick, Dennis Diken of the Smithereens, Richie Stotts, Patti Smith Group guitarist Lenny Kaye, punk survivor Holly Beth Vincent, members of the Ramones' punk-era contemporaries The Dictators, and producers Jean Beauvoir and Joe Blaney.
The resulting album is a brilliant encapsulation of the qualities that made Joey Ramone one of rock's most unlikely, yet most beloved, heroes. Leigh reflects "Over the past eight years I've been getting barrages of emails and Facebook messages from Joey's fans, wanting to know when this album would be coming out. So having it finally become a reality gives me a feeling of triumph, not for me, but for my brother, and for his fans. And there's not the slightest doubt in my mind that people are gonna be blown away by it.1. Rock 'n' Roll Is The Answer

The series follows a group of survivors led by police officier Rick Grimes, played by Andrew Lincoln (Love Actually, Teachers, Strike Back), who are traveling in search of a safe and secure home. However, rather than the zombies, it is the living who become the true walking dead. Jon Bernthal (The Pacific, The Ghost Rider), Rick's sherff's department partner before apocolypse and Sarah Wayne Callies (Prison Break) is Rick's wife Lori Grimes. Additional cast includes: Lori Holden, Steven Yuen, Norman Reedus, Jeffrey DeMunn, Chandler Riggs, Iron E. Singleton and Melissa McBride. My Dear OneThe Shondes are a rock band based in Brooklyn and best known for potent political anthems and heartbreaking violin hooks. The foursome brings the sound and spirit of riot grrrl to its unique brand of Jewish-inflected music with an explosive and emotional live show that often moves audiences to tears. The Shondes approach each moment on stage with limitless joy and ferocious passion, and offstage, band members Louisa Solomon (bass/vocals), Elijah Oberm(violin/vocals), Fureigh (guitar), and Temim Fruchter (drums) are outspoken and visible in their communities regarding issues of sexuality, gender and religion.
No matter how strong activist rock musicians are in public, all bets are off when it comes to matters of the heart. The Shondes had a rough year following the release of their debut album in 2008. At the end of a successful nationwide tour, the band faced the sudden departure of their guitarist, a devastating professional and personal breakup for Solomon. The remaining members of The Shondes sought comfort and healing in one another and in their craft by spending days and nights writing songs to get them through the experience. The resulting collection, My Dear One, is an album for all survivors of broken hearts.1. My Dear One

Game Of Thrones Season 6Import
Includes 7 Bonus Tracks On Side E
The most-watched series in HBO history and a worldwide TV phenomenon, Game of Thrones returns with another power season. In Season 6, after the shocking developments at the end of Season 5 - including Jon Snow's bloody fate at the hands of Castle Black mutineers, Daenerys' near-demise at the fighting pits of Meereen, and Cersei's public humiliation in the streets of King's Landing - survivors from all parts of Westeros and Essos regroup to press forward, inexorably, towards their uncertain individual fates. Familiar faces will forge new alliances to bolster their strategic chances at survival, while new characters will emerge to challenge the balance of power in the east, west, north and south. Viewership of the Emmy® Award-winning series yet again rose compared to the previous season.
The music from the HBO® Series Game of Thrones Season 6 is once again composed by Ramin Djawadi. The composer is best known for his Grammy-nominated score for the 2008 Marvel film Iron Man and movies such as Pacific Rim and Warcraft or television series as Prison Break and Person of Interest.LP 1
