Muddy Waters, the undisputed king of Chicago blues, hit a string of highly successful albums in the late 70s. In between Hard Again and King Bee came in 1978 I'm Ready, a powerful blues record containing new material and classic reworks. Driving blues burners such as Willie Dixon's "I'm Ready" and "Rock Me" are varied by slow jams like "33 Years", "Hoochie Coochie Man" and "Screamin' And Cryin'". Muddy is clearly feeling alright with these song selections. As on Hard Again, Johnny Winter is taking care of the production duties, allowing I'm Ready to be a spontaneous outburst of pure bluesyness, with a lively feel.1. I'm Ready

Take Care, Take Care, Take CareIn the four years since the release of Explosions In The Sky's previous album, All of a Sudden I Miss Everyone, they've amassed a steady stream of unlikely achievements for a band most known for stirring instrumentals that often push the 10 minute mark. They toured with The Flaming Lips, headlined a sold-out Central Park concert, performed on the legendary Austin City Limits television program, and curated the world-renowned ATP Festival, all with the humble resolve of a band who still hauls all of their own gear on and off the stage every night. And let's not forget their indelible impact on the cultural landscape of film and television since their breakthrough score for Friday Night Lights marked an aesthetic shift towards evocative, real-life grittiness in mainstream cinema.
On their fifth album, Take Care, Take Care, Take Care, the band take some of their greatest creative leaps yet, experimenting with layers of haunting, unplaceable sounds, euphoric vocals, classical guitar, body percussion, Japanese singing bowls and more. With solitary focus and collaborative vision, each instrument clearly exudes the spirit and inspiration of its player, squeezing more expression and lyricism out of guitars and drums than most singers could ever conjure with their voices.1. I Care Because You DoReissue Of Third Album, Originally Released In 1995
The Crowning Achievement In The Aphex Twin Canon
First-Ever Domestic Vinyl Edition
...I Care Because You Do is the third studio album Richard D. James recorded under the Aphex Twin moniker and marks the end of his initial analog era. It's also the crowning achievement in the Aphex Twin canon. Veering from his previous acid house, ambient and general techno undertakings, James builds compositions out of lengthy and intricate drum machine loops, elaborately layered analog synths and intermittent string pieces. The final product comes off like a Replicant dance-party. Never one to take his art too seriously, James infuses ...I Care Because You Do with in-jokes and innuendos. "Ventolin," named after an asthma medicine, is one of the harshest tracks on the album and features a high-pitch frequency that mimics symptoms of tinnitus; "Alberto Balsalm" is named for a British line of hair care products; "Come On You Slags" samples dialog from a pornographic film. Additionally, several of the song titles are anagrams: Aphex Twin is reworked as "Wax the Nip", The Aphex Twin morphs into "The Waxen Pith," "Wet Tip Hen Ax," and "Next Heap With," and Richard David James becomes "Acrid Avid Jam Shred." ...I Care Because You Do's equal infatuation with hip-hop rhythms and melodic counterpoint provides an effective bridge between his pioneering early releases and the cunning explorations of his later work. As much as the front cover self-portrait captures a snapshot of the artist's own image, the music inside provides a glimpse of an artist on the cusp of an invigorating new period of sound experimentation, but still producing his unique blend of melancholy and aggression at an elite level. Generally seen as one of the quintessential IDM releases of all time (and once named by Q Magazine as one of the top 20 loudest albums of all time), the album finds a middle ground between Phillip Glass and the Wu-Tang Clan. Fans of either will not be disappointed.1. Acrid Avid Jam Shred

The WildernessFeatures An 8-Panel Gatefold Jacket With O-Card Slipcase
The Wilderness is Explosions In The Sky's sixth album, and first non-soundtrack release since 2011's Take Care, Take Care, Take Care. True to its title, The Wilderness explores the infinite unknown, utilizing several of the band's own definitions of "space (outer space, mental space, physical geography of space) as compositional tools. The band uses their gift for dynamics and texture in new and unique ways-rather than intuitively fill those empty spaces, they shine a light into them to illuminate all the colors of the dark. From the electronic textures of the opening track to the ambient dissolve of closer "Landing Cliffs," The Wilderness is an aggressively modern and forward-thinking work-one that wouldn't seem the slightest bit out of place on a shelf between original pressings of Meddle and Obscured By Clouds. It is an album where shoegaze, electronic experimentation, punk damaged dub, noise, and ambient folk somehow coexist without a hint of contrivance-and cohere into some of the most memorable and listenable moments of the band's expansive body of work-"proper" studio albums and major motion picture soundtracks alike.
The progressive ambience of early Peter Gabriel, the triumphant romanticism of The Cure in their prime, and the more melancholy moments of Fleetwood Mac all inform the curious beauty of The Wilderness. The uncanny ability to reconcile the tension between discordant, nightmarish cacophony and laid-back, Laurel Canyon-inspired folk-rock is a cornerstone of this album, and the center of Explosions In The Sky's remarkable evolution. If The Earth Is Not A Cold Dead Place was the defining album of Explosions In The Sky's career, The Wilderness is the band's [re]defining album.1. Wilderness

Field Commander Cohen Tour 1979Available On Vinyl For The First Time
Includes Insert With Song Lyrics
In 1979, after the release of his album Recent Songs [MOVLP311], Cohen set out on an international concert tour accompanied by members of the Austin-based Jazz-Rock group Passenger; Field Commander Cohen was compiled in 2000 from recordings of the 1979 tour, and it presents an especially strong argument for Cohen's gifts as a musician.
This is the first ever vinyl release of these live recordings at London's Hammersmith Odeon and Brighton's Dome Theatre. This may well be Cohen's best set of recorded performances as a singer, and having Jennifer Warnes and Sharon Robinson on hand as duet partners is especially rich icing on the cake. While the musicians take care to never intrude upon the songs, they play beautifully, with remarkable taste and skill; they bring out the nuances of these songs with a sure but gentle hand.LP1

All Around UsClear Vinyl W/ Black Swirl
Briana's lyrics are forceful, and throughout her second album, All Around Us, traditional song structure gives way to plainspoken declarations that pull back the record's shroud. Her first single,Surrender is musically delicate at first, with flickering blips and chords that float into earshot like fireflies. Take Care of Me is the album's brightest and most immediate song, a buoyant celebration of friendship with a skittering beat and a warm, sweet melody. And title track All Around Us is a stark but inspiring beauty, built on the memory of a family member of Briana's who passed away, and the sadness of not being able to say goodbye or I love you one last time. It is the balance of the abstract and the intimate that makes Briana Marela and All Around Us so special.1. Follow It

I Blame YouBrooklyn, NY's Obits is made up of Rick Froberg, Sohrab Habibion, Greg Simpson, and Scott Gursky. They released their first single, One Cross Apiece b/w Put It in Writing in December of '08 on their own Stint Records label and did some touring with the Constantines and The Night Marchers. Produced by G. Sanoff, E. Janney and Obits, I Blame You is the band's debut full-length album.
We're not into innovation as a band, says Froberg, who's already done his fair share of innovating with Drive Like Jehu and Hot Snakes. I think innovation is overrated and an overestimated quality. Anything that's going to be original is going to happen without your control. Things that make your band sound like you, are things you wouldn't be able to change anyway. The Sky As Well As SpaceWe last heard from the boys in Memory Map with the release of their 2011 debut LP
"Holiday Band". We couldn't be more excited to see them return with the release of
their sophomore album "The Sky As Well As Space."
With "The Sky as Well as Space", Memory Map continue to esh out their uniquely
guitar-driven blend of indie pop. Few bands straddle song-craft and technical prowess
as eortlessly as Memory Map. Using three guitars (one which cheats its way into
acting as a bass), a three-piece drum kit, and vocals from all four members, Memory
Map organically fuse cascading guitar lines, complex rhythms, and layered vocal
harmonies into shamelessly accessible guitar pop.
In the three years since their debut, Memory Map have gained depth both in
composition and production. The album simultaneously showcases the band at their
most catchy ("Magnetic Center"), menacing ("Dark Freshman"), and emotional
("Order In the Waves", "Antelope Earth").
Why the three-year gap between albums you ask? Well, the delay is largely due to the
popularity of a certain cat. Band member Mike Bridavsky owns and takes care of the
most famous cat on the planet, Lil BUB. And because Memory Map have been so
exible in working around Lil BUB's schedule, the band is ofcially BUB approved.1. The Celebrated Summer

At NewportLimited Edition of 500 on Audiophile Clear Vinyl
The afternoon concerts at the Newport Jazz Festivals usually are given over to the presentation of new jazz talent, new groups, foreign born artists, and "new directions!' Taking care of the latter category at the 1957 show were, prominent among several others, the Cecil Taylor Quartet and the Gryce-Byrd Jazz Lab group. It's doubtful that either had ever played before an audience more attentive, more earnest in its desire to understand (...)I believe the overwhelming majority of jazz fans got some message, and came away convinced that these groups merited many more hearings. About Audiophile Clear Vinyl
Audiophile Clear Vinyl is made using the highest quality co-polymer available and processed without any carbon additive in order to dramatically reduce the "electrical distortion" often found on records.
By itself the co-polymer of vinyl is transparent. In order to make the record black in color the plant must use a carbon additive with trace metals that can become magnetized. This is what causes electrical distortion during playback.
That is the reason why we choose to offer our records in the following manner:

Fitz And The TantrumsFitz and The Tantrums' natural exuberance permeates their new self-titled album, which celebrates walking to the beat of your own drum.
Lead singer, Michael Fitzpatrick, says of the new record, We've always tried to push ourselves at every turn. For our third album, we continued to challenge ourselves, taking care not to write the same record again.
Turn It Up, Fitz exhorts at the top of album opener and first single HandClap. The horn-and-beats fueled track captures the exhilarating sense of promise - and danger - that a night out and a new romance hold. The staccato Complicated paints a relationship that's packed with both chemistry and conflict and bursts into an unexpected cheer. Echo and otherworldly keyboards make Tricky an intoxicating dance-floor anthem and a warning to any future lover, while A Place For Us, the album closer, encapsulates the band's belief that there is a place in the world for each of us to belong, regardless of our differences.
Overall, this is an album about desire - the desire for intimacy, for sex, for acceptance on your own terms and the struggle not to compromise, explains Fitz.
Fitz and The Tantrums was recorded in the band's hometown of Los Angeles. Jesse Shatkin (Sia, Matt & Kim) produced eight of the album's eleven tracks. Fitz produced Fadeback while Joel Little (Lorde) produced Do What You Want and Ricky Reed (Jessie J) helmed HandClap.1. HandClap

Devendra Banhart releases his Nonesuch debut, Mala, on March 12, 2013. The singer/songwriter co-produced the record with his longtime bandmate, guitarist Noah Georgeson. Banhart's eighth studio album, Mala was recorded in his then-home in Los Angeles. (He now resides in New York City.) He and Georgeson played most of the instruments themselves, using borrowed equipment and a vintage Tascam recorder they'd found in a pawn shop. "A lot of early hip-hop had been made on [the Tascam]," says Banhart. "And knowing my songs are not hip-hop whatsoever, we thought it would be interesting to see how these kinds of songs would sound on equipment that was used to record our favorite rap. Let's see how this technology would work for us." It was a new approach for the pair. "In the past we were more like, let's use the oldest equipment we could find."
Banhart also notes how his voice has developed over the years: "I don't really take care of my voice, but, just like with playing guitar, you get more familiar with it, and you get better at it. I've always said that I'm very good at not knowing how to play the guitar but, really, it's just that I'm very comfortable with the utter uncertainty of my approach."
Banhart's previous release, 2009's What Will We Be, received critical acclaim, with Rolling Stone calling it "the best he's ever made." The Los Angeles Times said the record "found him making comfortable, laid-back folk that didn't sound like a compromise-more like an artist growing into his own."1. Golden Girls

Days Are GoneDays Are Gone is the debut album from indie-rock outfit/sisters Haim.
Produced by Ariel Rechtshaid (Usher, Vampire Weekend) and James Ford (Florence and the Machine, Arctic Monkeys), Days Are Gone is an album years in the making. Since their first show as a group, which took place on July 7th, 2007, Haim have been gigging extensively. The first five years we just played every show we could play in L.A., Alana recalls. All we wanted to do was play. Then finally we realized we were playing too much. The sisters credit Casablancas specifcially for advising them that playing too many live shows is not the answer. To that end, the girls have now been more selective when lining up future tours. Still, as Alana explains, it was hard to turn down opening-slot offers from groups they love, specifically Florence and the Machine and Mumford & Sons. They take care of me like I'm their little sister, Alana says of the Mumfords, with whom Haim again will be playing support for later this year.
Ask the girls to describe specific tracks on Days Are Gone and they quickly fire back: If I told you I'd have to kill you, Este deadpans. Wait, really? No clues at all? The thing is, she explains, you can ask me anything about anything and I'll tell you except for our music. The record is something we're tight-lipped about. Haim do reveal that the album contains a healthy dose of the songs they've been playing in their live sets - "Falling," "Forever," "Don't Save Me" - in addition to, as Alana says, a lot of new jams. What little they'll reveal about the new material is that the album's title track was co-written with Jessie Ware and Kid Harpoon.
Rolling Stone had a chance to take the new album for a spin, however. And it's every bit worth the wait. There's palpable maturity in the lyrics: On If I Could Change Your Mind, Danielle is a self-admitted newbie at the whole love thing (I've never done this before/drove a million miles/back when you were mine/I was too young to know you were the one to find); later she's brushing off a former lover on Honey & I, then flat-out giving dude the cold shoulder (Honey, I'm not your honey-pie,) over a ripping electric guitar lick and a bass wobble generally reserved for sweaty dance clubs on the pop-friendly My Song 5. Sonically, the LP is a highly textural affair, from the 8-bit keyboard clatter on the title track to the lush, Eighties-style synths that sizzle throughout Running If You Call My Name.

Sabougla VoicesIn today's frenetically paced world, uncovering a lost treasure is often met with great enthusiasm, excitement, and anticipation. Lost footage of Gene Kelly dancing. A Vincent van Gogh no one knew existed. An Arthur Crudup album lost in a vault for 40 years. Jimi Hendrix material coming to light after 40 years. Well, now we can also celebrate the "discovery" of a blues master stepping into the sunlight, and delivering the best gospel album since Elvis gave us "How Great Thou Art" in February, 1967. The paradox is that Leo Welch has been there all along, living in Sabougla, Mississippi, first playing blues, and then moving to gospel. Born in 1932, Welch grew up playing blues. As his style of blues became less popular, he began to play gospel because churches offered more opportunities to play. Consequently, he was overlooked because blues aficionados frequented juke joints. Most blues lovers would never think to find blues, or blues related music in a church.
After an off-the-cuff call by Welch to Big Legal Mess Records, things continued to fall into place, and he was able to record his debut album, Sabougla Voices. It is really difficult to accurately describe this stunning album, and faithfully convey the vibe, the atmosphere, and way it moves a listener. Welch has poured a lifetime of learning, living, loving, playing, and praying into this work, and it shows!
This album is stripped down, bare bones joyful gospel being played and sung from the heart. This is not your daddy's gospel though. Sabougla Voices is a shot of love to your heart, a cool cleansing breeze blowing through your soul, and an orgasm for your ears. The album opens with "Praise His Name," which is beautifully sparse, raw, and has a great bouncing beat. "You Can't Hurry God" is almost a gospel honky-tonk that has a juke joint vibe. "Take Care Of Me Lord" has a very early Magic Slim and The Teardrops sound to it. "Mother Loves Her Children" is really basic, slow, artfully delicate blues. "Somebody Touched Me" has a mid 1960s Rolling Stones blues flavor, and nice backing vocals. "A Long Journey" is delightfully slow, and begs to be pulled over you like a comforting blanket of blues. "His Holy Name" is gospel as a shuffle, and definitely has the church rocking! The album closes with "The Lord Will Make A Way," an acoustic performance that is slow and stark, but very moving.
If this is Welch's debut alum, we can't wait for the follow-up! This album is definitely a must-have.

Paperback GhostsCOMET GAIN return with their seventh album, following 2011's critically acclaimed "Howl of The Lonely Crowd". Recorded at Soup Studios with producer Simon Trought at the helm, and inspired by the psycho-geography of walks in North London woods and in the forgotten grey hinterland of the city's back streets, "Paperback Ghosts" comes soaked in autumn melancholy. Blending psychedelia, folk-rock, garage muscle and 4am sadness, the songs draw on the esoteric that lies behind the ordinary. Comet Gain are David Charlie Feck (vocals, guitar), Ben Phillipson (guitar), Rachel Evans (vocals), ex-Morrissey/The Meteors drummer Woodie Taylor (percussion), Anne Laure Guillain (keyboards) and new recruit, Clientele bassist James Hornsey - a motley group of like-minded romantics, taking pride in an abject failure to care about the normal band model.. On each album they record, Comet Gain bring together their myriad of influences, creating a cohesive aesthetic between sound, artwork, liner notes and ideas. Paperback Ghosts is no different, offering us a glimpse into a haunted half-world with its strings, yearning harmonies, 12-string acoustic guitars and half-focused vision of pianos in reverb, while remaining at heart a pop record, a richly textured affirmation of Comet Gain's twenty-year anti-career.1. Out In The Storm (Awaiting Repress)Recorded With John Agnello (Dinosaur Jr, Sonic Youth)
LP Housed In A Matte Jacket With Silver Foil Detail
Includes A 12 x 24" Printed Poster Insert
Out in the Storm is the blazing result of a woman reawakened. Her mostautobiographical and honest album to date, Out in the Storm is a self-reflective anchorin the story of both Katie Crutchfield's songwriting and her life. The album tells thestory of taking control of a volatile situation, embracing flaws, and exploring a newsonic freedom.
The album was tracked at Miner Street Recordings in Philadelphia with John Agnello, known for working with some of the most iconic musicians of the last 25 years, including Dinosaur Jr. and Sonic Youth. For Agnello, it was Crutchfield's voice thatdrew him in. "The first demo song I heard was 'Fade'. The melodies, the way she singsit, the way she turns the melody, and the way she goes note to note is literally beautiful.Singers-you either have it or you don't. She has it." Agnello and Crutchfield workedtogether for most of December 2016, along with the band: sister Allison Crutchfieldon keyboards and percussion, Katherine Simonetti on bass, and Ashley Arnwine ondrums; Katie Harkin, touring guitarist with Sleater-Kinney, also contributed lead guitar. At Agnello's suggestion, the group recorded most of the music live to enhance theirunity in a way that gives the album a fuller sound compared to past releases, resultingin one of Waxahatchee's most guitar-driven releases to date. "My experience workingwith John was genuinely life-changing," says Crutchfield. "We had such a greatconnection right off the bat, and I really feel like he was always looking out for me. Hepushed me when I needed it, and gave me space when I needed it."
Crutchfield's voice oscillates between effortless grace and commanding righteousness, taking the listener with her on an explicitly personal journey. Songs like "Hear You"and "No Question" are lyrically unapologetic and musically resolute, while the softeracoustic songs like "A Little More" and "Fade" let fear and melancholy seep through. But it is on the atmospheric "Sparks Fly" where we feel an essential redemption."Sparks Fly" acts as an inner dialogue and marks the first time since the inception ofWaxahatchee that any semblance of self-love has shone through. This moment is aperspective we've yet to see from Crutchfield: it is a rediscovery of herself, and therealization of a full life she is completely worthy of. "It's about self-preservation, self-care,and reclaiming your autonomy," says Crutchfield. "When you find the things thatmake you happy, sometimes it's easier to see things that make you unhappy."1. The Casablanca's are aptly named for their classic good looks and commanding performance. They came about in response to repeated requests for a single-ended amp with the power to drive non-compliant or inefficient speakers. Given that large power SE amps are either run in pentode or using exotic power tubes, Ampsandsound opted for a push-pull based amp; a larger version of the Stereo 15.
The Casablanca's provide 60 watts with KT88/6550 power tubes, and 45 watts with EL-34s. Based on the Eico circuit and using a 12AX7/6SN7 front end allows access to a vast array of NOS/NIB tubes. The Casablanca's come with 8ohm and 4ohm taps and can be ordered with 16ohm taps if desired. To provide reliable power and a sweet sound, they turned to their design partners and carefully evaluated 2 new takes based on similar designs; the Eico HF97 and the Dynaco MKIII. They built both and did a shootout with the reigning king of push-pull amps, the McIntosh MC275.
The results were startling. The Eico based circuit was a clear improvement over their take on the MKIII, and was on par with the MC275. The Casablanca's provided extremely articulate bass, with truly remarkable mid and high frequency extension. The bottom line - this amp provides the warmth and detail that is expected from reference level push-pull amps, and nearly limitless personalization with different tube combinations. The tubes included with purchase are new Tungsol 12AX7, Tungsol 6SN7, and Tungsol 6550s.
They were recently asked what differentiates Ampsandsound Casablancas from any of the other well-made gear in the $2000-$3000 range. The answer is that there may be few differences, but the differences that do exist are pivotal to their approach to the reproduction of music. First off, many tube amplifiers in the Casablanca's price range have lower power. Other similar-price amplifiers are stereo amps, not providing the performance and channel separation for which mono-blocks are known.
They chose the Casablanca design to allow for the largest practical power supply. Also, mono-blocks require 40% more parts, and like all Ampsandsound components, the Casablancas utilize modern materials to bring a higher level of performance. This includes using 1-2% resistors instead of the less costly and more common 10% variety, and coupling capacitors with 5% tolerance instead of 20%. Point-to-point wiring would allow for streamlined building, but their PCB's provide superior grounding and noise isolation, with the result that they have realized and improved upon the sonic characteristics of the great amplifiers of the 50's and 60's.$4,395.00Mono Block Amplifier (Pair) Buy Now
The Big Lebowski SoundtrackThe Coen Brothers' 1998 film noir spoof, The Big Lebowski, with Jeff Bridges' shaggy title character, "The Dude," has gained a fervent following, complete with annual conventions, where phrases like "The Dude will abide" have entered the vernacular. With the Coens' typical care and love of music they demonstrated throughout their diverse career, The Big Lebowski soundtrack has become just as much of a cult classic as the film itself. Album highlights include songs accompanying a trio of bowling scenes: Bob Dylan's New Morning track, "The Man In Me" over the title credits, the Busby Berkeleyinfluenced psychedelia of Kenny Rogers and the First Edition's "Just Dropped In (To See What Condition My Condition is In") and the Gypsy Kings' redefining take on the Eagles' "Hotel California," as John Turturro licks his bowling ball.
