LonerismKevin Parker (vocals/guitar) and Dominic Simper (bass) formed Tame Impala as 13-year-olds in Perth in 1999, sticking to bedroom recordings until 2007, when Jay Watson joined them on drums and backing vocals. Their sound was pure late '60s, but wasn't the sound of any specific band from the era. They were as likely to be channeling the Nazz as the Jimi Hendrix Experience. Cocooned away inside walls of psychedelic fuzz in Western Australia they re-created their preferred period one song at a time with the aid of gear and production techniques that sounded like they hadn't been dusted off since 1968.LP1

InnerSpeakerTame Impala are a rainbow sandstorm of stoned riffage, mindbending melody and blissed out adventurism from the most isolated city in the world who echo the lighter side of Cream, Blue Cheer and Kyuss. This is the long-awaited fully distributed release of their debut album, Innerspeaker in North America.
Innerspeaker is Tame Impala's chance to paint a far more extensive picture, and sure enough it redrafts the entire Tame Impala world as we knew it into an explosive, cosmic wonderland of ecstatic harmony and perfectly accessible journeys into inner space.

The Spirit MovesSometimes, truth can't be explained. But it can be felt, running wild through a song. "I don't want to tame myself. I want to be wild," says Langhorne Slim. "If I can continue to refine the wildness but never suffocate or tame it, then I'm on the right path. Because it is a path. I feel it." The Spirit Moves is Langhorne's newest artistic attempt to refine the wildness. The result is an effervescent collection of his now-signature, cinematic, joyful noise, rooted in folk, soul, and blues. Midnight Sun follows 2010's Mark Ronson-produced Jardin Du Luxembourg and the same year's homegrown Acoustic Sessions.
In more recent times, the duo have toured with fellow psych voyagers The Flaming Lips and Tame Impala, while Lennon found time to release Mystical Weapons with Deerhoof's Greg Saunier and continue his role as Musical Director of his mother's Plastic Ono Band. recorded most of the songs live in the same room together.
"I wanted the process to be more in line with the way people used to make albums in the late 60s and early 70s," reveals Barnes. "I wanted the songs to be more lyric-driven, and for the instrumental arrangements to be understated and uncluttered.1. Fugitive Air

Man It Feels Like Space Again (Awaiting Repress)Australia's Pond was conceived by two members of Tame Impala's touring band. Their new album, Man It Feels Like Space Again lives up to the inherent wonder in its title, a sweeping collection of warm, warped psychedelic gems. It brings to mind the work of The Flaming Lips, Mercury Rev, mid-'70s Lennon, MGMT, Todd Rundgren, Supergrass and any number of other genre-hopping sonic/space-explorers.
In its 45 minutes, the album covers an extraordinary amount of ground. Opener 'Waiting Around For Grace' sounds like an FM pop hit beamed in from a nearby planet, all wonky propulsion and giddy hooks - the perfect opening blast. Everybody's favourite band, Uncle Acid, release a new single, Pusher Man on Rise Above Records. The single is backed by Remember Tomorrow, an Iron Maiden cover, initially available on a Kerrang (legendary UK magazine) cover-mount CD.
Pusher Man is taken from the bands fourth album, The Night Creeper, which was released to much acclaim in July of last year. The track was recorded as part of the album sessions at Toe Rag Studios in early 2015 with engineer Liam Watson (White Stripes, Tame Impala, Electric Wizard).
They released their breakthrough album Blood Lust in 2011, a homage to British Hammer and folk horror films of the 1970s, a candle-lit head-trip of withered hands, ritual knives and gallows ropes. Mind Control (2013), their third album, looked further afield, to the post-Charles Manson US for inspiration: Jim Jones dosing the Kool-Aid. Blue Cheer, Blue Oyster Cult and B-movie biker movies. Ripe Dreams, Pipe DreamsCameron Avery has arrived as a new breed of nocturnal crooner, a train-wreck romantic creating timeless, ambitious music for the modern age. Utilizing his soulful wit, shrewd arrangements, and a deep, husky baritone, Avery harnesses the dark power and humor of artists like Nick Cave, Scott Walker, and Tindersticks to expertly walk the fine line between vulnerable and venerable.
Hailing from the late 2000s-era Perth, Australia, a healthy scene of hard-hitting garage rock bands, including a long stint as the drummer of Pond, Avery found his musical footing while playing with friends but sought the reward of his own outfit. Encouraged by his friend Kevin Parker of Tame Impala to record on his own, Avery started The Growl as his solo project in 2007, making an EP and an album of aggressive, distorted psychedelic rock and roll. When Parker asked him to join Tame Impala as its touring bassist in 2013, Avery jumped at the chance and rose with that band to the top of the psych-rock heap, but all the while remained focused on carving out his singular identity as an artist and following his own muse.
On a break from touring, Avery decided to head to the US to work on his album. He would settle in Los Angeles at the behest of Jonathan Wilson, the Echo Park musician and producer who also encouraged Avery to shine a spotlight on his baritone singing voice, unlike the snarling, obscured vocals of The Growl. It was a lofty idea, but one to which Avery aspired, encouraged by the challenge.
Melancholic machismo is written into the very DNA of Ripe Dreams, Pipe Dreams. From the classical, finger-picked guitar on the opener "A Time and Place" and the orchestral vamping of "Do You Know Me By Heart?" to the bombastic, self-assured swagger of "Dance with Me." He takes an emotive page from the Leonard Cohen songbook-of-longing on "Big Town Girl" just as naturally as he thumbs an aggressive note of Bad Seed strut and Cramps rut on "Watch Me Take It Away." And by the time he purrs that earnest refrain of "Baby, it's you" on the album's closer "C'est Toi," Avery has surely mastered that drunken tightrope dance. Now a resident of New York City, Avery looks to continue his search for the ultimate sensations from a fresh vantage point.1. A Time and Place

They Want My SoulThe music:
Spoon's most straight-up, direct and concise rock album ever;
A certain "return to form" as a straight up American rock band, a restoration of Spoon's trademark authority, confidence and swagger;
Music runs a gamut from AC/DC-esque guitar-driven songs like the opener "Rent I Pay" to stunning cosmic space disco tracks like "Outlier" to delicately
pensive album standout "Inside Out".
After 6 years of incessant recording and touring, band took a 4.5 year break between albums. Spoon returns more invigorated and energized than at any
point in their career;
Core audience will love the return to Spoon-y form via future greatest hits like Do You, Let Me Be Mine and They Want My Soul;
The addition of new people around the band and recording process, namely multi-instrumentalist Alex Fischel and legendary producer Dave Fridmann
(MGMT, Tame Impala, Flaming Lips), has expanded the band's oeuvre into new and exciting sonic terrain, most notable heard in Inside Out, Knock

HypnophobiaHypnophobia, the brand new album from 'baroque pop' prince and
Dutch producer/multi-instrumentalist Jacco Gardner, casts a majestic
and vibrant psychedelic spell that will hypnotise listeners at the point
dreams and reality meet.
Capturing a true sense of exploration, Hypnophobia combines
Gardner's newfound love of travel with his continued passion for
collecting and playing vintage instruments. A stunning exhibit of lush
instrumental tracks as well as songs that boast lyrics worthy of any
great pop number, the record features a Wurlitzer electric piano that
was purchased on tour, waltzing alongside mellotrons, harpsichords,
an Optigan, and an antique Steinway upright piano sold to Gardner by
a local church.
Akin to the sonic boom of maverick contemporaries John Maus, and
Tame Impala, his is a sound that holds fast next to fellow paisley
performers Syd Barrett and Curt Boettcher, with the airy dynamics of
Stereolab or Simon & Garfunkel. Yet what truly marks Gardner from
his musical ancestors and accomplices is his forward-thinking, hi-tech
approach; "Hypnophobia is the next step into an alternate reality

many things I do were not possible in the past."1. Another You

Living DaylightMichael Rault is a Toronto based singer, guitarist and songwriter fronting his own eponymously named band. A gifted multi-instrumentalist and arranger, his hooky blend of pop rock refracts an evolution of guitar based music through the ages. An era-defying mischievousness defines his synthesis of jukebox R'n'B, and acid psych as refracted through the experience of an adolescence spent idolizing the clever craftsmanship of the Beatles and the wiggy New Orleans textures of Dr. John in equal measure. As a recent transplant from his native Edmonton, the album is a melodically adventurous take on a classic theme - leaving home to make your way in the big city. Produced and recorded in collaboration with Renny Wilson (Mint Records), Living Daylight is a dynamic fusion of the past and future. An inclination for early Rock N' Roll is perverted by a heady production sensibility akin to the warped contemporary psych of Tame Impala. As a document of oddball DIY songwriting Living Daylight fits nicely in the lineage of records created by Ex-Edmontonian contemporaries like Mac Demarco or Sean Nicholas Savage. The Night CreeperThe Night Creeper is the new album by Uncle Acid & the Deadbeats. Contained within are ten tracks of the type of sonic psyche-frazzling heaviness and blood-drenched pop that have made Uncle Acid & the Deadbeats one of Britains great cult bands.
Recorded at Toe Rag studios in early 2015 with engineer Liam Watson (White Stripes, Tame Impala, Electric Wizard), their fourth opus The Night Creeper, finds the quartet in full-on deatripping, third eye-widening mode. Here songs ooze louche evil over flesh-melting riffs that creep like hot magma bubbling up through the earths crust at their own malevolent pace. This album is in no hurry to destroy you. But it will. It will.
In an age when the word is over-used, Uncle Acid are indeed a true cult. Everything they do is covert, their movements crepuscular, the loyalty they inspire fervent. Every sneering melody and every piece of artwork is loaded with meaning, designed to be pored over. Their press coverage is deliberately limited but doesnt prevent them selling out US tours or joining Black Sabbath at their personal request. They only reveal what they want to reveal: chiefly that Uncle Acid & the Deadbeats began as a studio project circa 2009 in Cambridge, the wild concept of Kevin Starrs. The rest is academic.

Facing YouFacing You is one of the most important recordings in contemporary jazz for several reasons, aside from being beautifully conceived and executed by pianist Keith Jarrett. It is a hallmark recording of solo piano in any discipline, a signature piece in the early ECM label discography, a distinct departure from mainstream jazz, a breakthrough for Jarrett, and a studio prelude for his most famous solo project to follow, The Köln Concert. Often meditative, richly melodic, inventive, and introspective beyond compare, Jarrett expresses his soul in tailored tones that set standards for not only this kind of jazz, but music that would serve him and his fans in good stead onward.
In this program of all originals, which sound spontaneously improvised with certain pretexts and motifs as springboards, the rhapsodic Ritooria, 4/4 love/spirit song Lalene, and song for family and life My Lady; My Child firmly establish Jarrett's heartfelt and thoughtful approach. Vapallia cements the thematic, seemingly effortless, lighter -- but never tame -- aesthetic. Starbright is an easy-paced two-step tune signifying fully Jarrett's personalized stance. Straddling a more jagged, angular, and free edge, the pianist evokes the influence of Paul Bley during Semblence.
But it is the opening selection, an extended ten-minute opus titled In Front, that truly showcases Jarrett at his playful best -- a timeless, modal, direct, and bright delight. A remarkable effort that reveals more and more with each listen, this recording has stood the test of time, and is unquestionably a Top Three recording in Keith Jarrett's long and storied career.1. Hamburg Recordings 1967The Monks - a strange, rare group with a story that sounds like a drunk friend's generous
hyperbole. A group of American G.I.s stationed in Germany on the precipice of Western
cultural revolution starts playing music loosely connected to the rock n' roll craze,
contrastingly incorporating a critical and often offensive avant-garde edge. Nothing
was off limits - screeching vocals, dark aesthetics, staccato-strummed banjo, sardonic
lyricism, critiques of the Vietnam War and full monk costuming down to the tonsure.
When viewed on the whole, it seems like an art school student's senior thesis on what
the craze means and its future possibilities. Due in large part to original Polydor vinyl
collectability and years in the word-of-mouth hype machine, their legend and cult status
has steadily blossomed since their last shows in 1967.
Fast forward to 2017, the crew at Third Man, already huge fans, are presented with an
honest-to-God treasure trove of original Monks photos, newspaper clippings, business
cards, letterhead, contracts, postcards and, yes, analog tapes, containing trailblazing,
wild compositions completely unheard by public ears.
"I'm Watching You" would have been recorded on February 28th, 1967 at the same
sessions that would produce the Monks' final single "Love Can Tame the Wild" b/w "He
Went Down to the Sea." The remaining four songs were recorded after hours in the Top
Ten Club later that year, just prior to the break-up of the band.
These songs have been unreleased for 50 years and are quite possibly the last music left
to be heard by this legendary band.1. I'm Watching You

Every Now & ThenJagwar Ma returns with their second album Every Now & Then.
The Sydney-formed band came together for sessions across a handful of studios and locations in Australia, the UK, and France to shake up an altogether inspired new offering. Full of spirit and exploding with the energy of new ideas, Every Now & Then is formed from the building blocks of a myriad of sonic touchstones upon which Jono Ma and Gabriel Winterfield concoct a heady, uplifting brew that very much owns it's own space on the spectrum.
Singer/guitarist Gabriel Winterfield and multi-instrumentalist Jono Ma originally joined forces at the turn of the decade, having reached an impasse with their previous bands. Liberated, they instantly felt their horizons opening up, culminating in the kaleidoscopic dub-pop of Jagwar Ma's 2013 debut album Howlin. Augmented by their old Sydney friend Jack Freeman on bass and backing vocals they set about creating their own infectious groove with their increasingly powerful live show.
After almost three years of touring the world (including tours with Foals, The xx, and Tame Impala) the band returned to Australia to write and begin recording at Sonar studios in Sydney. With the basis of the album written, the band headed back to La Briche near Tours in rural France, where they had recorded their debut in a self-built studio on a friend's partly-renovated farm, before returning to London to record drum sessions with Warpaint's Stella Mozgawa and James Ford and finishing mixing with old friend Ewan Pearson in their new shared Tottenham studio The Bunker II.
Jono is a student of the studio in the Jagwar Ma camp, and on Every Now & Then his production hand constructs the richly singular sonic world each track inhabits. The record is littered with surprising selections yet maintains an ebb and flow that echoes that of a day in coastal Australia. 'Repetition invites participation' and the composition of Every Now & Then is a testament to the turn of phrase, subtly seducing with loose-limbed sinewy grooves on loop.
Entrancing incantations on romantic love, truth and courage come courtesy of co-songwriter and lead vocalist Gabriel. Lush melody from left field, grungey phrasing and pagan shapes, Winterfield flows in tandem with each song's unique sea of sound. "Can we be real?"
Classic bass lines, jangly guitar parts and Paul's Boutique-inspired loops bounce off elements of synth-pop and encounter bass heavy experiments redolent of Blanck Mass and other elements of the Norwegian electronic onslaught together with swelling psychedelic choruses, reminiscent of summer-kissed Ocean Rain-period Bunnymen, exploding into melodic, sun-soaked wig-outs.
At heart, a studio album, designed for lone listening on headphones but as a shared experience is where it will really come to life. Their live appearances for Howlin' were electric and key elements of Every Now & Then took on extra shape while touring Europe with fellow compatriots Tame Impala, successfully working out the structure of tracks in front of arena crowds.
Every Now & Then deftly covers a broad expanse of sound and mood. Say What You Feel gradually envelopes with its tireless drive and shapeshifting form to an ecstatic peak before Loose Ends cools down the pace with dubbed, fractured melodies. Give Me A Reason flips from muted funk pop to percolating, percussive house before seamlessly transitioning into a gyrating, teched up club tool. The glorious dynamism continues with Ordinary's quantum leap chorus, while High Rotation possesses a sinister spirit, a chuggy druggy groove and compelling, cultish chanting. Colour Of Paradise closes out the record, a bittersweet beauty of surf melodies and euphoric synths - 'searching through every grain of sand', lifting off and leaving the earthly territory behind completely for a deeper, more celestial, spacey place.
From underwater liquid rhythm through to joyous, floating in the clouds sky highs, Every Now & Then is Jagwar Ma's cathartic new injection we endeavor you to dose up on.1. Falling

The Missing LinksDeluxe Reissue OF 1965 Aussie Garage Rarity with Bonus 7 EP
Though they have different approaches, a common thread runs through Australian bands like the Saints, Hoodoo Gurus, Midnight Oil and AC/DC: an aggressive, take-no-prisoners posture designed to grab audiences by the throat. This direct crowd-band interaction is essential on the rough-and-tumble Oz pub circuit, where if the group doesn't deliver the goods, they're likely to go down in a hail of lager cans. Whatever it is that puts the raw in Antipodean rawk, it's been there from the beginning. For proof, check the wild, outrageous sounds of the Missing Links. Formed in Sydney in 1964, a series of personnel changes eventually replaced all original members, leaving vocalist Andy Anderson, guitarist Doug Ford, drummer Baden Hutchens, bassist Ian Thomas and Chris Gray on keyboards. It was this lineup that recorded the band's 1965 debut album, The Missing Links. An instant garage punk classic, The Missing Links took the UK R&B combo model and drenched it in attitude and feedback, making contemporaries like the Troggs and the Who appear tame by comparison. The sonic guitar meltdown at the end of "You're Drivin' Me Insane" presages Jimmy Page's Zeppelin liftoff by a full three years while "Wild About You" defies description, except to say it still sounds shocking nearly 50 years on.
This slice of vigorous vinyl became one of the most prized acquisitions for garage punk fans the world over, with each successive wave of Down Under musical malcontents spreading its legend. The globe-trotting team at Sundazed has now restored the album in all its magnificent MONO glory! What more could you want?
