    Gettin' Ready

    Remastered Audio

    Includes Bonus Tracks

The marvelous title track alone, with Eddie Kendricks gliding into the stratosphere, made this an instant winner. There were several fine songs that weren't hits, such as Not Now, I'll Tell You Later and I've Been Good to You, and there sure wasn't anything wrong with powerhouse cuts like Ain't Too Proud to Beg. The Temptations would score four straight number one hits in the mid-'60s, each one an unforgettable classic.

    Four Tops

The Four Tops were among a number of groups, including The Miracles, The Marvelettes, Martha and the Vandellas, The Temptations, and The Supremes, who established the Motown Sound around the world during the 1960s. The group was the main male vocal group for the highly successful songwriting and production team of Holland-Dozier-Holland, who crafted a stream of hit singles on Motown. Their immaculate four-part harmonies gave voice to many of Motown's most enduring songs.

Their self-titled album (1964) included the singles Baby I Need Your Loving and Ask the Lonely. You'd be hard pressed to find two better singles on a debut album, both being the cornerstones of Four Tops. A debut to remember.

    Remastered Audio

Bush Doctor is the third studio album by Jamaican reggae musician Peter Tosh. Along with Bob Marley and Bunny Wailer he was one of the core members of the band The Wailers (1963-1974). Tosh also established himself as a successful solo artist. In 1978 he was contracted by Rolling Stones Records and the album Bush Doctor was released in the same year, introducing Tosh to a larger audience.

The single from the album, a cover version of The Temptations song Don't Look Back, performed as a duet with Mick Jagger, made Tosh one of the best-known reggae artists. Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards is also featured on the album, playing guitar on Bush Doctor and Stand Firm.

    Deliver

In their brief but eventful reign as one of America's hippest and most popular recording acts, the Mamas and the Papas-Denny Doherty, Cass Elliot, Michelle Phillips and main songwriter/sonic architect John Phillips-created a uniquely captivating brand of smart, harmony-laden pop that was consistently inventive and innovative, yet effortlessly commercial.

Although their hitmaking heyday lasted less than three years, these trendsetting California dreamers left a long-lasting mark on popular music, releasing a series of hit singles and classic albums that remain deeply ingrained in the pop-culture consciousness four and a half decades later. Now, Sundazed Music brings the Mamas and the Papas' much-requested, long-out-of-print second and third albums back to the marketplace in LP editions that preserve their timeless brilliance for the ages.

These beloved '60s classics have been lovingly restored by Sundazed Music to their original glory, on high-quality vinyl LP. This definitive edition faithfully reproduces the album's iconic original cover art, while careful mastering from the original reels guarantees that it's never sounded better than it does here.

Released in early 1967, the group's third longplayer Deliver is one of the Mamas and the Papas' essential works, and an exquisitely engaging expression of the group's singular pop artistry. The album produced a pair of Top Five singles in the amusingly autobiographical "Creeque Alley" and the quartet's transcendent reading of "Dedicated to the One I Love," previously recorded by the "5" Royales and the Shirelles. Other highlights include the much-loved originals "Look Through My Window" and "Boys & Girls Together," and reworkings of the Smokey Robinson-penned Temptations classic "My Girl" and the Beatles/Isley Brothers hit "Twist and Shout."

Al Green Gets Next To You (Pure Pleasure)

After the shaky start of Green Is Blues, Al Green and producer Willie Mitchell established their classic sound with Green's second album, Gets Next to You. The main difference is in the rhythm section. Abandoning the gritty syncopations of deep Southern soul, the Hi Rhythm Section plays it slow and seductive, working a sultry, steady pulse that Green exploits with his remarkable voice. Alternating between Sam Cooke's croon and Otis Redding's shout, Green develops his own distinctive style, and Gets Next To You only touches the surface of its depth. Although the album is filled with wonderful moments, few are as astonishing as Green and Mitchell's reinterpretation of the Temptations' I Can't Get Next to You, which turns the original inside out.

    • Al Green (vocal)

    • Wayne Jackson (trumpet)

    • Ed Logan (tenor saxophone)

    • James Mitchell (bassoon)

    • Jack Hale (trombone)

    • Charles Hodges (keyboards)

    About Pure Pleasure

At the beginning of the 90s, in the early days of audiophile vinyl re-releases, the situation was fairly straightforward. Companies such as DCC, Mobile Fidelity, Classic Records and, of course, Pure Pleasure all maintained a mutual, unwritten ethical code: we would only use analogue tapes to manufacture records.

During the course of the present vinyl hype, many others have jumped on the bandwagon in the hope of securing a corner of the market. Very often they are not so ethical and use every imaginable source to master from: CDs, LPs, digital files, MP3s - or employed existent tools from the 80s and 90s for manufacturing.

A digital delay is gladly used when cutting a lacquer disc because tape machines with an analogue delay have become quite rare and are therefore expensive. When cutting the lacquer, the audio signal is delayed by one LP revolution against the signal, which controls the cutter head, and for this a digital delay is very often employed. Of course, the resultant sound signal is completely digital and thus only as good as this delay.

We should like to emphasize that Pure Pleasure Records on principle only uses the original master tape as the basis for the entirely analogue cutting of lacquer discs. In addition, the pressing tool is newly manufactured as a matter of principle.

We only employ existing tools for manufacturing if an improved result is not forthcoming, e.g. the title Elvis Is Back, which was mastered by Steve Hoffman and Kevin Gray, or several titles from our Philips Classics series, which in any case Willem Makkee cut from the original masters at the Emil Berliner Studios in the 90s. It goes without saying that we only used the mother and that new tools were made for our production.

To put it in a nutshell: we can ensure you that our releases are free from any kind of digital effects and that the lacquer discs are newly cut.

    Turn of a Friendly Card

With two of the Alan Parsons Project's best songs, the lovely ballad Time and the wavy-sounding Games People Play, 'The Turn Of A Friendly Card' remains one of this group's most enjoyable albums.

Parsons' idea, the subject of the album's six tracks, centers around the age-old temptation of gambling and its stranglehold on the human psyche.

    Black Messiah

Vinyl Lacquers Cut By Alex DeTurk At Masterdisk

    Pressed At R.T.I.

No digital 'plug-ins' of any kind were used in this recording. All of the recording, processing, effects and mixing was done in the analog domain using tape and mostly vintage equipment.

''For all intents and purposes, this album is the black version of [The Beach Boys'] Smile-- at best, it will go down in the Smile/There's a Riot Goin' On/Miles Davis' On the Corner category.'' - Questlove

The prodigal son of the soul and funk canon, D'Angelo, is back! His ever-awaited third studio album, Black Messiah, is his first album since the critically acclaimed Voodoo, bringing to an end a 14-year hiatus. The album blends 70's jazz-funk and neo-soul.

Anyone who's been keeping up should be keen to the fact that the long-lusted over project was recorded in full analog, so the liner notes' PSA "For best results, listen at maximum volume" should be taken as a direct order for fervent D'lievers. And what better way to experience the gritty greatness of the release than a heavy-bodied vinyl pressing for the audio junkies?

The album features tracks co-penned by Kendra Foster (Parliament/Funkadelic) and Q-Tip (A Tribe Called Quest). It's also co-produced by Questlove (The Roots), bassist Pino Palladino (John Mayer Trio, The RH Factor), and drummer James Gadson (Bill Withers, Temptations, Beck, Jamie Lidell).

    The Last Temptation

First Time 180 Gram Audiophile Blue Vinyl & Gatefold Cover

Mastered Impeccably By Joe Reagoso (Alice Cooper/Deep Purple)

Featuring Hits: Lost In America, Sideshow & It's Me

1994 was a banner year for superstar Alice Cooper with his conceptual hit album "The Last Temptation." A solid nod to his previous 1975 classic "Welcome To My Nightmare" "Temptation" became a fixture on hard rock and heavy metal scene thanks to the hit single "Lost In America." As would be expected, this fine new album would go on to be one of his best received with his fans and the critics alike.

Featuring ten great new rockers with help from friends like Chris Cornell on "Stolen Prayer" and "Unholy War", plus the great team of Tommy Shaw (Styx/Damn Yankees) and Jack Blades (Night Ranger/Damn Yankees) on the power ballad smash "It's Me", "The Last Temptation" album truly was a masterwork from the hard rock legend Alice Cooper.

At the time, CD's were the format of choice and there was never a North American vinyl release of the album. Even overseas, it was very rare, and is one of the most expensive Alice Cooper collectables if you could even find one that is until now!!

Friday Music is honored to offer another installment in our Alice Cooper 180 Gram Audiophile Vinyl Series with the spectacular "The Last Tempation." Impeccably mastered by Joe Reagoso (Alice Cooper/Styx/Deep Purple) at Friday Music Studios and Capitol Records in Hollywood, CA, the stunning album comes to life now in the audiophile vinyl domain.

To further enhance your listening hours, for a limited time, the hard rockin' Lp will be manufactured at R.T.I. on translucent blue vinyl and will be housed in a first time gatefold cover. Tough

The overall tone of this album is gritty and urban, current and strong; a study in the struggle of the current state of the world, the difficulties with human relationships, the pitfalls of temptations and, finally, the promise of hope because the stories in these 11 songs are told from a voice of strength.

In the 44 years since his first record release and at almost 76 years old, this is John Mayalls 57th official album. Produced by John Mayall himself, this album is also the debut of his new band lineup, making this is a new start with fresh new blood.

About the band: The players make up John Mayalls new touring band, consisting of his latest guitar phenomenon from Texas, Rocky Athas; a blues rhythm section from Chicago of Greg Rzab on bass guitar and Jay Davenport on drums; Tom Canning on organ and piano; and, of course, John Mayall on keyboards, organ, harmonica, guitar and vocals.

Perfectly imperfect - that's one way to describe LA based punk act, The Regrettes. Writing songs that proudly bear a brazen and unabashed attitude in the vein of acts Courtney Barnett or Karen O - with a pop aesthetic reminiscent of 50's and 60's acts a la the Temptations or Buddy Holly - the LA based four piece create infectious, punk driven tracks.

Lead by outspoken frontwoman, Lydia Night, and comprised of Genessa Gariano on guitar, Sage Nicole on bass and drummer Maxx Morando, the group have left the LA rock scene floored, managing to capture the hearts of jaded rock critics while opening for acts like Kate Nash, Jack Off Jill, Bleached, Pins, Deep Vally and more.

    Hydra

Within Temptation have announced that they will release their sixth studio album, 'Hydra,' on Jan. 31. In addition, the Dutch band has revealed some unexpected surprises in the form of guest appearances on the disc.

Known for creating their own brand of symphonic metal, Within Temptation have a few surprises in store on 'Hydra.' The guest list includes collaborations with Dave Pirner of Soul Asylum, former Killswitch Engage frontman Howard Jones and perhaps the most surprising of them all - hip-hop artist Xzibit. The set also includes the recently released track 'Paradise (What About Us?)' featuring former Nightwish singer Tarja Turunen.

Xzibit joins forces with Within Temptation on a track called 'And We Run,' a song described by frontwoman Sharon Den Adel as an anthem about how to live your life. "He's rapping at full force on this song, it's really heavy," says Adel. "Xzibit brings a new element to our music that we've never had before! It's a new cross-over and we love it!"

Jones' contribution comes on 'Dangerous,' one of the heavier tracks on the disc. "I always loved Howard's voice," shares Adel. "He makes the song even heavier than it already is. That song is one of my favorite songs on the record and one of the fastest we've ever written. It has the most bass drums we've ever used, too, and a very fast riff which we doubled with synths. It's not a typical synthesizer, though - it's distorted like a guitar, and it's very aggressive."

    Offerings: Lost Songs 2000-2004

This year Gravenhurst celebrates a decade of work on Warp Records with the reissue of two classic albums, Flashlight Seasons and Black Holes In The Sand, and an additional new album: Offerings: Lost Songs 2000 - 2004, a compilation of unreleased material from that period. 2004's Flashlight Seasons quickly earned Gravenhurst a devoted fan base, consistently strong support from the music press, and cemented Nick Talbot's reputation as a unique talent, and one of the most original British singer-songwriter and producers of his generation. Black Holes In The Sand, a noisier and more overtly lo-fi record of dark pastoral psychedelia firmly established an enduring Gravenhurst aesthetic: enigmatic lyrics, ghostly vocals and virtuoso finger-picked guitars against a backdrop of cinematic, shape-shifting, semi-conscious sonic textures; subliminal transmissions from the surrounding landscape. These two records established Gravenhurst as a place; a place of revenants. Plotting a journey from the unquiet graves of the unjustly accused, through the dark temptations of the city to the ancient rituals of the forest, Gravenhurst is a musical treasure map of sigils and coded clues, where the very earth itself has a message to convey. Offerings: Lost Songs 2000-2004 is a collection of previously unheard recordings quickly deemed worthy of an exclusive release. Alongside eight previously unheard songs are two early demos that differ from album versions in intriguing ways and the result is a carefully selected and coherent collection.

    Flashlight Seasons - Reissue

    Every Picture Tells A Story

Without greatly altering his approach, Rod Stewart perfected his blend of hard rock, folk, and blues on his masterpiece, Every Picture Tells a Story. Marginally a harder-rocking album than Gasoline Alley -- the Faces blister on the Temptations cover (I Know I'm) Losing You, and the acoustic title track goes into hyper-drive with Mick Waller's primitive drumming -- the great triumph of Every Picture Tells a Story lies in its content. Every song on the album, whether it's a cover or original, is a gem, combining to form a romantic, earthy portrait of a young man joyously celebrating his young life. Of course, Maggie May -- the ornate, ringing ode about a seduction from an older woman -- is the centerpiece, but each song, whether it's the devilishly witty title track or the unbearably poignant Mandolin Wind, has the same appeal. And the covers, including definitive readings of Bob Dylan's Tomorrow Is Such a Long Time and Tim Hardin's Reason to Believe, as well as a rollicking That's All Right, are equally terrific, bringing new dimension to the songs. It's a beautiful album, one that has the timeless qualities of the best folk, yet one that rocks harder than most pop music -- few rock albums are quite this powerful or this rich.

    Nola

NOLA was written mainly by Phil Anselmo and Pepper Keenan between 1990 and 1995. Throughout 1991 to 1993 the band released three demos, a three-track demo (1991), a four-track demo (1992) and a ten-track demo (1993). Originally the band made the three-track demo for underground trading. The demo featured the tracks Losing All, Temptations Wings and Bury Me in Smoke. In an effort to build a fan base, the band would ask heavy metal fans if they had ever heard of this band, Down and hand them copies of the tape without telling the person that they were in the band. In 1992 the band recorded a second demo, this time featuring the same track listing as the original but with an intro. In 1993 the band made the Demo Collection 1992 - 1993 which is a ten-track demo featuring all the songs that would make the album cut except Rehab, Pray for the Locust and Underneath Everything. Anselmo solely wrote only three songs on the album (Hail the Leaf, Pray for the Locust and Pillars of Eternity). Eventually, the original demo tape was distributed throughout the United States and Down played a small concert in its home town. A record executive from Elektra Records was attending the show. When he found out who the members of the band were, he signed Down to a recording contract. The band began recording the album in the summer of 1994 at the Ultrasonic Studios, New Orleans, Louisiana and completed the recording sessions by January 1995.

    Pictures At An Exhibition

Released in 1972, this classical music meets 70's progressive rock performance was recorded live during a concert at Newcastle's City Hall. The band performs the legendary Mussorgsky piano cycle with all the power, energy and authority of a '70s rock power trio; giving the legendary classical piece a contemporary, unique feel.

In the Seventies, numerous rock and pop groups attempted to produce a maximum of sound on the stage with a minimum of manpower. The majority of them failed miserably in their struggles to master the Moog synthesizer with its 28 million varieties of sound but not so Keith Emerson, Greg Lake and Carl Palmer! Their legendary rock version of Mussorgskys piano cycle, which was set down for posterity during a live concert in Newcastles City Hall, towers above all other recordings of the kind. Perhaps their success is due to the fact that the trio avoided a Late Romantic powerful sound and steered away from the temptations of creating electronic, grandiose sound effects. Their vocals, guitar and drums produced a highly original and contemporary yet soulful rendering.

Even if you aren't into British rock-pop, you should still listen to this album. Those who choose to ignore it dont know what they are missing!

    The Unissued Capitol Album

Jim Ford's previously unissued second album and follow-up to the country-soul classic Harlan County, as it was intended to be heard, restored and re-mastered from the original master tapes in magnificent full stereo high-fidelity sound. Jim Ford was Sly Stone's best friend and Nick Lowe's biggest musical influence. Aretha Franklin, Bobby Womack and The Temptations have all recorded his songs. But after just one mythical album, Harlan County, in 1969, he disappeared. Many tried to find Jim Ford without any success, until Swedish music journalist and devoted fan L-P Anderson found him living in a northern California trailer park in 2006. Ford's modest residence contained a mountain of old master tapes and demos. Anderson befriended Ford and heard a story that even Hollywood scriptwriters would have said was too impossible to be true. Before leaving California, Anderson promised he'd get some of the tapes out on record. A compilation, The Sounds Of Our Time, appeared on Bear Family Records in 2007 and became a big success. The record spent four weeks on the Swedish charts and received worldwide critical acclaim. Ford was overwhelmed with the positive response but unfortunately he passed away in November of 2007 at the age of 66, just before the launch of Bear Family's second Jim Ford compilation, Point Of No Return.

This self titled album was originally meant to be released by Capitol Records in October of 1970, but Ford fell out with the company's executives before the project was manufactured. Apparently, he got $20,000 and the master tapes. He also got strict orders never to show his face inside the Capitol building again. And now for the first time, here's Jim Ford's second album on 180g Import Vinyl LP.

    Algiers

"This is revolutionary music in the truest sense of
the word. It demands action. It requires penance. It
    destroys expectations." - Stereogum

"The Death Grips of gospel torching the South's
    dark underbelly." - Rolling Stone

The debut LP by Algiers is haunted by promises of the past:
the rapturous call and response of millenarian gospel, the
bellowing urgency of 60s protest soul, the scene-searching
intensity of DC hardcore and the smeared viscosity of
post-punk and no wave. After all, as Marx once said: "The
tradition of all dead generations weighs like a nightmare
on the brains of the living." But rather than revel in a state
of nostalgia, the band wields these burdened visions to
    charge headlong into the future.

Over the album's eleven tracks, these three ÉmigrÉs of
the American Deep South lay waste to appropriators,
oppressors, revivalists and the cultural shock troops of
capitalism. Vocalist Franklin James Fisher's every shriek and
incantation will take you from the sweaty fervor of Dennis
Edwards-era Temptations through the righteous rebellion
of Nina Simone to the solitary midnight howls of PJ Harvey.
Shards of Lee Tesche's guitar, along with Ryan Mahan's
bass pulses and synthesizer slashes, pierce through the
    processional, transforming neo-modernist hymns with
explosions of foreboding and dread that evoke the
vanguard of pop experimentation from Suicide to Roland
    S. Howard.

In an era when political subjectivity and human connectivity
have been smashed to pieces by the demands of finance
capital, Algiers has taken its stance: to maintain fidelity to
these subversive spirits and trudge toward the light. While
they may never arrive at their destination - consigned to a
life of wandering - they conjure the dead sound to life in
    frightening new directions.

Where Have All The Merrymakers Gone?

Available For The First Time On Vinyl!

On Exclusive Clear Vinyl Limited To 1000 Copies

Includes Liner Notes And Essay Written By Singer Sean Nelson

Nearly two decades after its release, Seattle indie rock band Harvey Danger's cherished debut full-length album, Where have all the merrymakers gone?,
will be released on vinyl LP for the first time ever via No Sleep Records.

The Vinyl packaging for Where Have All The Merrymakers Gone? will feature new artwork, designed by band members Aaron Huffman, Evan Sult and
Sean Nelson, that features the same house where the band lived together during their early years - as depicted in the original cover art - now updated to
    reflect the passage of time.

Originally released in 1997, Where have all the merrymakers gone? catapulted the young band to stardom with the massive radio and video success of
their anthemic hit song "Flagpole Sitta." The album has since sold over half a million copies with the single still receiving regular airplay on radio stations
    across the country.

For many critics, Harvey Danger's history begins and ends with "Flagpole Sitta." However, a revisitation of Where have all the merrymakers gone? reveals
an album that transcends it's most famous song with music that is smart, sardonic and dynamic and a band that was far more than simply a "one hit
    wonder."

Harvey Danger emerged from the garages and basements of mid-'90s Seattle playing music that walked a line between indie-rock and pop-punk, with an
uncommon emphasis on the clever, heartfelt lyrics. They never sought worldwide notoriety, but managed the best they could when it was thrust upon
them. Simply put it was four kids, Aaron Huffman (bass), Jeff Lin (guitar), Evan Sult (drums) and Sean Nelson (vocals), who created a song and an album
that made a mark on rock music and whose pleasures have only deepened with time.
In preparation for the upcoming release, singer Sean Nelson wrote a foreword for the vinyl release, looking back on the album and its unexpected
    success.

"Under the long shadow of 17 years' worth of memory, I must say that listening back to the 10 songs that changed everything for us is a bracing
sensation. To hear the person you were when you weren't yet who you are now is to understand how little you understood, and to recognize how little you
even could have understood. This is doubly bracing when you consider that the person you were then had everything riding on the depth of his
understanding. It's tempting to be hard on your past self, the one who made all those idiotic mistakes, who scorched so many friendships, who insisted he
knew exactly what we was doing while steering car after car into ditch after ditch. And yet, temptations aside, it feels a lot better, and in a much bigger
way, to hoist hindsight's binoculars to your deteriorating eyes and spy something you love." (full essay from Nelson can be found in the liner notes of the
    vinyl LP).

Passion Is The Music, Composed By Peter, For The Martin Scorsese Film The Last Temptation Of Christ

This 3-LP Release Is Half-Speed Remastered And Cut To Lacquers At 45 RPM

The Vinyl Was Cut By Matt Colton At Alchemy Mastering, Mastered By Tony Cousins At Metropolis And Overseen By Peter's Main Sound Engineer Richard Chappell

Passion - Music for The Last Temptation of Christ was released a year after Martin Scorsese's controversy-laden film and tends to be regarded as a work in its own right rather than just being a movie soundtrack. It features additional music than was included in the film; this extra material was the result of Peter continuing to record and to resolve "unfinished ideas," hence the later arrival of the record.
