    Tenacious D

12th Anniversary Edition on 180 Gram Individually Numbered Double LP

Comes With High Quality MP3 Album Download Which Includes Full Album and a Previously Unreleased Song

The spawn of actors Jack Black and Kyle Gass, Tenacious D combine grandiose rock and roll cliche with hell-bent-for-leather comic passion to create a stew that motivates their legions of fans to caravan across the country to see their over-the-top live performances. The duo first came to prominence as The D in their self-titled HBO show in the late '90s, and now have grammy nominations and three full length albums under their belt, earning them fans from all over the world. Originally produced by hit making production duo the Dust Brothers, and featuring Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl on both guitar and drums, this 12th Anniversary Edition is being released with the full cooperation of Jack and Kyle.

    The Pick Of Destiny

Like Spinal Tap, the Rutles, and even the Bonzo Dog Band, Tenacious D manage to send up rock conventions while employing them expertly. The soundtrack to their first full-length motion picture mixes songs and bits from the movie, but it plays like a hilarious concept album more than anything. Dave Grohl and (one half of the) Dust Brothers--who played on the D's delicious 2001 debut--are here joined by Meat Loaf and Ronnie James Dio. The title song navigates power balladry from the late '80s and early '90s in ways most awesome, while also throwing in a bridge that rips on faux-mystical elf-progisms of '70s stadium rock. --Mike McGonigal

    Super Fake Nice

Nearly twenty years since the formation of his Tennessee-based project, Self, Matt Mahaffey is releasing a new EP - Super Fake Nice.

The six-song collection will feature original tracks - "Gonna Rock," "Subconscious," "Hey Hipster," "Looks And Money," "Splitting Atoms" and the lead single "Runaway." Super Fake Nice was written, produced, recorded, performed and arranged by Matt Mahaffey at his Fresh Imperial studio in Franklin, Tennessee. This is the first new body of SElf material to be released since his 2005 album Porno, Mint, & Grime.

SElf is the brainchild of Matt Mahaffey, a multi-instrumentalist studio wizard. He began writing songs at the age of four and spent a large part of his high school and college upbringing mastering studio techniques. In 1995 he released his debut SElf album, Subliminal Plastic Motives followed by tours with Garbage, 311 and Cracker. An early review of the debut from People Magazine described Mahaffey as a "virtual one-man rhythm nation" and stated the album proves " that alternative rock can be more than atonal, angst-ridden prattle." Following Subliminal , came releases on Dreamworks and Spongebath including 1999's Breakfast With Girls and 2000's Gizmodgery (made completely with toy instruments).

Since then, Mahaffey further crafted his unique blend of funk, hip-hop and alt-pop and in the early 2000's his focus started to shift into film and television, scoring music for CSI Miami, Entourage and Weeds. He also started playing and producing for other artists including Beck, Pink, Liz Phair, Keith Urban, The Sounds, Lupe Fiacsco, HelloGoodbye and Tenacious D.

Whether it's Spinal Tap gloriously losing the plot, the escapades of Tenacious D getting them into trouble, or the phenomenon that is Dethklok tearing up the album charts, comedy and heavy music have long made for great bedfellows. Jim Breuer is a man who understands this, and with Songs From The Garage, his first full-length with longtime backing band The Regulators, he delivers both in his inimitable style. "I basically want the crowd to have a blast, and I write what I feel that I would love if I was in the crowd. So, going into the record the music had to be killer and have great hooks, that was most important, and I wanted to balance that with something that's funny," he enthuses. "I wanted to bring the smile back to hard rock that has a nice punch to it - and in doing so hopefully bridge the gap so my generation and their kids will come see this live together!"

In realizing this, Breuer has delivered a record that is pure, unadulterated fun, and yes, it rocks. From crunchy opening romp "Thrash" through the swaggering "Who Better Than Us?" to the gloriously deranged excitement suffusing "Sugar Rush", his exuberance is infectious, and he challenges you to keep your ass from shaking and the corners of your mouth twitching while it thunders from the speakers. Throughout, his influences bleed through, comfortably blurring the line between hard rock and metal while every anthemic chorus lodges irrevocably in the hippocampus. While a great many 'comedy rock' records are ultimately pretty throwaway and last as long as the joke stays funny, this is not the case with Songs From The Garage. True to his game plan, Breuer has made great songs, ones that persistently draw a smile and will fit comfortably when shuffled among the likes of Megadeth, AC/DC, Judas Priest and more contemporary bands, such as Avenged Sevenfold and Halestorm.

Having finally made the album that has been burning to get out of him since his teens, Breuer couldn't be happier with the result. Though he has fulfilled one rock and roll dream with its completion, it certainly does not mean he's about to kick back and leave it at that. "I plan on making great, funny videos for every song and have videos up during the concerts. I want pure entertainment when you come see this live, and now my rock and roll dream is to play this not only here in America, but anywhere else in the world that will accept it! I'm taking it one day at a time, living the dream."
