The Head On The Door (Awaiting Repress)

The Head on the Door is the sixth studio album by British band The Cure, originally released in 1985 on Polydor. It was preceded by the single In Between Days which had reached No. 15 in the UK singles chart. The Head on the Door was depicted by the Melody Maker as a collection of pop songs. With its variety of styles, it allowed the group to reach a wider audience in both Europe and North America. In the UK, it quickly became their most successful album to date, climbing to #7 in the albums chart.

The album is the first to feature drummer Boris Williams. Bassist Simon Gallup, who had previously worked on three major Cure albums of the early 80's, was called back before the recording. In 1985, the band became a quintet with instrumentalist Porl Thompson as fifth official member. The Head on the Door is the first Cure album where all the songs are composed by singer and guitarist Robert Smith only.

The Best Of The Guess Who

The Guess Who are one of the few legendary classic rock bands that have stood the test of time for many decades. Their music penned mostly by founders Randy Bachman and Burton Cummings are compositions that are played all over the world, every hour, every day, thanks to the undying love and support of their signature tunes like American Woman, Laughing, No Time, Hand Me Down World, These Eyes, etc.

After a string of non-stop hit singles and chart topping albums, RCA Records saluted this great band with their very first 'Greatest Hits' album called The Best Of The Guess Who. This amazing collection grabbed all the hit singles and solid album tracks from their first four albums, and rose to the upper rungs of the pop album charts for weeks throughout 1970 and 1971.

Side One features the classic line-up of Burton Cummings, Randy Bachman, Jim Kale and Gary Peterson, with tunes from their key albums American Woman, Canned Wheat and Wheatfield Soul. Side Two included the Mark II band with Burton Cummings, Jim Kale, Gary Peterson with the addition of the late great Kurt Winter and Greg Leskiw, featuring songs from the groundbreaking Share The Land album.

The Body, The Blood, The Machine

The Body, The Blood, The Machine was recorded at Supernatural Sound Studios in Oregon City, twenty miles
south of The Thermals' home in Portland, OR by Fugazi's Brendan Canty. With the unfortunate departure of original Thermals drummer Jordan Hudson in late 2005, Kathy Foster and Hutch Harris (bass and guitar/vocals, respectively) split up duties on the new record themselves with Foster pulling double shifts as The Thermals' rhythm section for almost the entire record while Harris sang, performed all the guitar tracks, played some bass-and the two shared keyboard/organ duties.

With a wider, brighter, and wilder sound than anything The Thermals have done in the past, The Body, The Blood, The Machine adds walls of guitars, organs, and even a few ballads (aka slightly pretty songs) to the mix, while still retaining the gritty post-pop-punk sound for which The Thermals are globally famous. The lyrics envision a United States governed by a fascist Christian state, and focus on the need (and means) to escape. While hardly a concept album, there is definitely a story told in the songs: a story about getting the fuck out while you still can.

    The Libertines

Rock'n'roll can pretty much burn off pure mythology alone, but what happens when the soap opera of drug abuse and broken friendships threatens to overwhelm the music? That's the problem the Libertines' eponymous second LP faced and while it sometimes struggles to live up to the magic of its predecessor, 2002's Up the Bracket, it's still peppered with enough inspiration to explain why people still care about this band. Co-frontmen Carl Barat and Pete Doherty tackle their problems head on with the opening Can't Stand Me Now, an anthemic, harmonica-accompanied number with echoes of the Cure's Lovecats, that sees Barat sum up The Libertines' troubled history in the album's most quotable line: The boy kicked out at the world/ The world kicked back a lot f***ing harder. Further rollicking numbers include the Barat-sung Narcissist and knockabout closer What Became of the Likely Lads? as well as the hoarse, off-key Don't Be Shy which features Doherty at the helm.

    The Blackbyrds

The debut album by the American rhythm and blues/jazz-funk fusion group, The Blackbyrds, this eponymous release is the product of six full-time Howard
University students taking the direction of department head and jazz great Donald Byrd into the Fantasy Studios along with the aid of production wizard
Larry Mizell (Jackson 5, Gary Bartz). The end result is nothing less than stunning as the band lays down some of the tastiest groove-oriented jazz music
ever recorded. With Joe Hall on bass and Keith Killgo on drums, the rhythm section anchors a solid foundation capable of keeping the dancefloor full and
providing a base for the rest of the band's soulful explorations. Kevin Toney supplies supple keyboard work and Barney Perry keeps it funky on the guitar,
setting the pace for what would be a genre-defining LP and a breakthrough in jazz-funk crossover. Essential listening for all fans of jazz, funk, and feel good pop music.

The Jam is the band of The Modfather Paul Weller.
Although The Jam emerged at the same time as Punk Rock, The Jam better fitted the mold of the New Wave bands who came later.

Also, being from just outside London rather than in it, they were never really part of the tightly-knit punk clique. They became hugely popular with their blend of pop melodies and Weller's barbed lyrics.
In 1982 Weller announced that The Jam would disband at the end of the year.

The announcement came as a shock to Foxton and Buckler, who felt that the band still had many years left.
The Gift is their sixth and final studio album.
Released on 12 March 1982, it reached #1 on the British charts.

    The Wilderness

Features An 8-Panel Gatefold Jacket With O-Card Slipcase

The Wilderness is Explosions In The Sky's sixth album, and first non-soundtrack release since 2011's Take Care, Take Care, Take Care. True to its title, The Wilderness explores the infinite unknown, utilizing several of the band's own definitions of "space (outer space, mental space, physical geography of space) as compositional tools. The band uses their gift for dynamics and texture in new and unique ways-rather than intuitively fill those empty spaces, they shine a light into them to illuminate all the colors of the dark. From the electronic textures of the opening track to the ambient dissolve of closer "Landing Cliffs," The Wilderness is an aggressively modern and forward-thinking work-one that wouldn't seem the slightest bit out of place on a shelf between original pressings of Meddle and Obscured By Clouds. It is an album where shoegaze, electronic experimentation, punk damaged dub, noise, and ambient folk somehow coexist without a hint of contrivance-and cohere into some of the most memorable and listenable moments of the band's expansive body of work-"proper" studio albums and major motion picture soundtracks alike.

The progressive ambience of early Peter Gabriel, the triumphant romanticism of The Cure in their prime, and the more melancholy moments of Fleetwood Mac all inform the curious beauty of The Wilderness. The uncanny ability to reconcile the tension between discordant, nightmarish cacophony and laid-back, Laurel Canyon-inspired folk-rock is a cornerstone of this album, and the center of Explosions In The Sky's remarkable evolution. If The Earth Is Not A Cold Dead Place was the defining album of Explosions In The Sky's career, The Wilderness is the band's [re]defining album.

    The Top

The Top is the fifth studio album by English band The Cure, originally released on April 30th, 1984 by Fiction Records, on Polydor. After recording a psychedelic album Blue Sunshine for the one-off project The Glove during the summer 1983, Robert Smith finished off the year composing and working on two other studio albums at the same time: The Top for the Cure and Hyæna for Siouxsie and the Banshees. Smith was still the official guitarist of Siouxsie and the Banshees while he wrote The Top. The album was eclectic and saw Smith using all kinds of instruments, including violin and flute. Bird Mad Girl is in a Spanish style while The Wailing Wall contains Middle-Eastern undertones.

For The Top, Smith teamed up with another Cure founding member Lol Tolhurst who had given up drums for keyboards, and new member drummer Andy Anderson who had previously performed on the UK top 10 single The Lovecats. Porl Thompson was credited for playing saxophone on Give Me It. All the songs are credited by Smith bar three tracks co-written with Tolhurst, The Caterpillar, Bird Mad Girl and Piggy in the Mirror.

    The Scientists

The Scientists' 1981 wild debut bewildered Perth, Australia's punters with its charging anthems centered on themes of young love and alienation. Obvious in its rebellion yet more pop than punk, the self-titled Pink Album deftly embodied the tough-yet-danceable outsider aura of The Ramones, and its unheard of, feverish clip shook the shores of the geographically confined Swan Coastal Plain of down under. Recorded just as the lineup of guitarist-vocalist Kim Salmon (The Cheap Nasties), drummer James Baker (The Victims) and bassist Ian Sharples were breaking up, the album stands as a testament to the contagious chops of Perth's swelling pool of musical talent, and to the promise of Salmon's unwavering vision that would become one of the most celebrated acts of the Aussie underground.
