The Band Perry'
UNIM-BMX-9298xThe Band Perry
Pioneer (Deluxe)2013 release, the sophomore album from the superstar Country trio. Building on the musical foundation demonstrated by the band on their first album, Pioneer is steeped in Country tradition, with Rock 'n' Roll elements both on performance and songwriting. The album was produced by Dann Huff and has been listed as one of Entertainment Weekly's 12 Albums We Can't Wait For.
''When we set out to record Pioneer, the three of us drove across the country from Greeneville to Malibu to work with one of our musical superheroes, Rick Rubin,'' said Reid Perry. ''Our time in the studio with Rick was so incredible because during our early sessions he challenged us to set higher goats as songwriters.'' ''With that experience came the realization that we needed to take the music back home to Tennessee and have Dann Huff bring the songs to life with his production,'' adds Neil Perry. ''Sometimes where one starts off is not where one ends up, which is a big theme for us on Pioneer.''1. Better Dig Two

Glen Campbell: I'll Be Me SoundtrackHonored in 2012 with the GRAMMY Lifetime Achievement Award, Country Music Hall of Fame member Glen Campbell has recorded his last song.
I'm Not Gonna Miss You was written by Campbell and Julian Raymond specifically for a new documentary titled GLEN CAMPBELL: I LL BE ME. Produced by Raymond, the song was recorded in the Los Angeles-based Sunset Sound Factory and East West Recording Studios.
With a mere handful of piano chords, then a swell of harmonies, I m Not Gonna Miss You opens into the poignant, yet clear-eyed revelation of the things Alzheimer s steals. Almost lumbering through the melody, Campbell s weathered tenor confesses the painful truths of what is lost, the cost and the reality that it will all be lost to him, the man who can t remember. Pedal steel weeps, strings bathe the melody that rises against drums and an electric guitar that mirrors the unbreakable passage of life and time.
GLEN CAMPBELL: I LL BE ME is an epic human drama that intimately showcases the man and his music throughout Campbell s struggle with Alzheimer s. Chronicling the story of love, laughter, resilience and power of song, this film shows how against all odds, America s greatest country star would not give up. Directed and produced by James Keach (producer of Walk The Line) and produced by Trevor Albert (Groundhog Day).
Big Machine Records will proudly release a soundtrack for the film that also features The Band Perry, who previously paid tribute to Campbell during the 2012 GRAMMY Awards. The project also features Campbell s daughter Ashley who performs an original song.
We are so honored to not only release Glen Campbell s final recording, but to be associated with such a profound film that will help raise awareness of those suffering from Alzheimer s and spotlight the important role of those who care for them, remarked Big Machine Label Group President & CEO Scott Borchetta who serves as the project s Executive Producer with Keach.
Additionally, several of today s biggest musical stars appear in the film to pay tribute to the legend including Bruce Springsteen, Bill Clinton, The Edge (from U2), Paul McCartney, Jay Leno, Vince Gill, Jimmy Webb, Taylor Swift, Blake Shelton, Sheryl Crow, Keith Urban, Brad Paisley, Steve Martin, Chad Smith, and The Band Perry.1. The Band PerryDaddy rocked us to sleep with the Rolling Stones; Mama woke us up with Loretta Lynn. So we get it honest. - Kimberly Perry
Inheriting a cross-pollinated love of country and rock & roll from their parents, The Band Perry - siblings Kimberly, Reid, and Neil Perry - say that they bleed the bright red blood of American music. The three have always felt the drive to perform and create music, sweating out the summers in Mobile, Alabama playing in any dusty roadhouse or church that would have them. Kimberly strapped on her first Gibson - and fronted her first high school band - at age 15, employing Reid, then 10, and Neil, only 8, as her roadies. Changing guitar strings and polishing cymbals for their big sister lost its charm after awhile, so the brothers formed their own band, opening for Kimberly's band.
My bass and I've been attached at the hip since I was 10 years old, says Reid. While most of my friends were playing little league, I was sitting in my room learning Rolling Stones' and Beatles' bass lines. It's really all I've ever known. Even as the three worked in different bands, the siblings would spend nights at home playing together: I remember sitting out on our front porch singing old Hank Williams and Bobbie Gentry songs in three-part harmony, hoping to channel the spirits of old country through musical sÉance while fighting off the southern Alabama mosquitoes, says Kimberly. We always knew we'd take the stage together - all we were waiting on was the right moment. That moment came in July of 2005, when - after years of writing together - the siblings decided to join forces as one band. The Band Perry was then invited by the Coca-Cola Bottling Company to open all of the dates on their New Faces Of Country Tour that year.
In the summer of 2008, after spending a few years on the road honing their sound, TBP met longtime Garth Brooks manager Bob Doyle. Partnering with Bob and Josh Pegram, The Band Perry spent the fall and winter of 2008 writing in Nashville and collecting songs for their first country recording session.
The three of us bring different strengths into the writing room, Neil points out. Kimberly carries in a bag of melodies and lyrics, Reid always has some really great musical ideas in his back pocket, and I bring in a sense of humor and some thread that ties it all together.
The new recordings caught the ears of Scott Borchetta and Jimmy Harnen, the CEO and President of Republic Nashville, signing to the new label in the summer of 2009.
When talking about The Band Perry, each member of the trio stresses how much family figures into the mix: Reid, Neil and I share genes and a musical pedigree, Kimberly explains. We read the same classics and cook from the same recipes. With all of our likenesses though, I believe it's our distinctions that stir up the magic when we create. When the three of us sit down to write songs together, we pull from all of our individual perspectives and happenstances to create the most interesting song concoctions.
There's a tightness between the three of us that goes way beyond even best friends, Neil adds. Family vocal harmonies can't be fabricated. And, besides - the three of us know that through the thick and thin of life and the music business, we're watching after each other.
Blood runs thick. The music business can be hard, but the three of us are committed not only to our lives in music, but to living them together, Reid says. I think the security of knowing that about each other allows us to be uninhibited when we create. It's a democracy. It's a safe haven.
We've walked a long way to find your ears, Kimberly Perry finishes with a grin. So play us long and play us loud. The Band Perry is here, and we just have so darn much to say.1. You Lie

The BlackbyrdsThe debut album by the American rhythm and blues/jazz-funk fusion group, The Blackbyrds, this eponymous release is the product of six full-time Howard
University students taking the direction of department head and jazz great Donald Byrd into the Fantasy Studios along with the aid of production wizard
Larry Mizell (Jackson 5, Gary Bartz). The end result is nothing less than stunning as the band lays down some of the tastiest groove-oriented jazz music
ever recorded. With Joe Hall on bass and Keith Killgo on drums, the rhythm section anchors a solid foundation capable of keeping the dancefloor full and
providing a base for the rest of the band's soulful explorations. Kevin Toney supplies supple keyboard work and Barney Perry keeps it funky on the guitar,
setting the pace for what would be a genre-defining LP and a breakthrough in jazz-funk crossover. Essential listening for all fans of jazz, funk, and feel good pop music.1. Do It, Fluid

Young PrayerNoah Lennox, a.k.a. Panda Bear, a.k.a. one-fourth of the founding members of Animal Collective, has had a far-from-quiet few years since the release of his fourth solo record, 2011's Tomboy. Since the breakout success of 2007's universally-adored Person Pitch, each new Panda Bear release is a highly anticipated event, and with a high-profile Daft Punk collaboration later, that's more the case than ever. But if the title of his fifth solo album as Panda Bear seems to portend certain doom, think again. Taking his inspiration from '70s dub duo albums like King Tubbys Meets Rockers Uptown and Augustus Pablo Meets Lee Perry & the Wailers Band, Panda Bear prefers to frame his latest work as less of a battle and more a collaboration. "I see it [as] more comicbooky, a little more lighthearted," he says. "Like Alien Vs. Predator." Young Prayer is the second full-length solo album by Panda Bear. It was recorded in Panda Bear's childhood home in 2002 by Deakin and further produced by the mysterious Animal Collective brothers known as Come Winter. ADAD-PTK-1013xAges And Ages
DivisionaryHaving spent much of the last two years in willful isolation, Ages and Ages surface at last with Divisionary, an emotive and emotional song cycle that sees the Portland, Oregon-based collective wrestling with many of the contradictions and confusion that life has to offer. Pervasive acclaim and a fervent fanbase followed 2011's debut, Alright You Restless, but the band soon found themselves confronting what co-founder/frontman Tim Perry refers to as "some dark-ass shit."
Ages and Ages tackled those challenges by amping up their multi-layered modus operandi - all gang harmonies, rhythmic discovery, and inner conflict - the contrast between joyous sound and disheartening subject matter instilling songs such as "No Pressure" and "Our Demons" with striking pragmatism and undeniable muscle. Fraught with heartfelt drama, celebratory spirit, and sonic ingenuity, Divisionary finds Ages and Ages torn and frayed but more optimistic than ever, empowered and transcendent in spite of their turmoil and trials.

Get Your WingsRemastered from the original source tapes!
Contains the classics Same Old Song And Dance, Train Kept A-Rollin' and Seasons of Wither
Often overshadowed by the subsequent twin highlights of Toys in the Attic and Rocks, Aerosmith's 1974 second album, Get Your Wings, is where Aerosmith became Aerosmith -- it's where they teamed up with producer Jack Douglas, it's where they shed much of their influences and developed their own trademark sound, it's where they turned into songwriters, it's where Steven Tyler unveiled his signature obsessions with sex and sleaze. Chief among these attributes may be Douglas, who either helped the band ease into the studio or captured their sound in a way their debut never did. This is a leaner, harder album, bathed in grease and layered in grit, but it's not just down to Douglas. The band itself sounds more distinctive. There are blues in Joe Perry and Joey Kramer's interplay, but this leapfrogs over blues-rock; it turns into slippery hard rock. To be sure, it's still easy to hear the Stones here, but they never really sound Stonesy; there's almost more of the Yardbirds to the way the group works the riffs, particularly evident on the cover of the early 'Birds classic The Train Kept a Rollin'. But if the Yardbirds were tight and nervy, Aerosmith is blown out and loose, the sound of excess incarnate -- that is, in every way but the writing itself, which is confident and strong, fueled by Tyler's gonzo sex drive. He is the Lord of the Thighs, playing that Same Old Song and Dance, but he also slows down enough for the eerie Seasons of Wither, a powerful slow-churning ballad whose mastery of atmosphere is a good indication of how far the band has grown. They never attempted anything quite so creepy on their debut, but it isn't just that Aerosmith is trying newer things on Get Your Wings, it's that they're doing their bloozy bluster better and bolder, which is what turns this sophomore effort into their first classic.

Not RealNot Real' is the second album by Stealing Sheep which has been written, recorded and produced by band members Becky Hawley, Emily Lansley and Lucy Mercer at their studio in Liverpool. The band met in 2010 and work together creating music and visual art.
The unifying theme of the new album 'Not Real' is an interplay of fact and fiction; the edge of dreams and limits of reality. These visions are grounded by bright melodies and insistent beats and unified by vocal harmonies; sometimes metronomic and chant-like, sometimes choral and pop.
It follows their debut, 'Into the Diamond Sun', released in 2012 by Heavenly Recordings. The first album morphed their individual styles to create a 'medieval-kraut-folk' inspired sound. They were described as an unanticipated 'pagan pop revival' and since its release have toured as guests of Postal Service and Alt-J, opened for St.Vincent in Paris, performed the songs of David Lynch at the Barbican and collaborated with the Radiophonic Workshop on an original soundtrack to the cult 70's science fiction film 'Le Planete Sauvage'.
For the second album they have concentrated on developing the sonic aesthetic of their new music. "We are more focussed about what we are trying to do. Everything has a reason for being there." They have been experimenting with tuned percussion, programmed beats, trigger samples and worked with effected synths, utilising the guitar and lap steel more sparingly and introducing more processed sounds. They've drawn inspiration from 50's exotica, electronic music and 80's pop and have been greatly influenced by the likes of Grace Jones, Can, Delia Derbyshire, Eden Ahbez, Moon Dog and John Carpenter. Grayson Perry's pop-folk art and the band's self-created mythologies were also a source of inspiration for song writing.
This is an alternative pop record that has been 'self-manufactured' by the band. Having learned new skills in the studio over the last years, the band (assisted by Sam Crombie and Joe Wills) have self-produced the album. They have used the studio not only as a writing tool but also as an instrument; experimenting with post production and varying instrumentation and layered textures. "We started off in pre-production doing all the demos ourselves" say's Becky "the demos captured an atmosphere that we wanted to carry forward to the album. The result was a hypbrid of casual takes and more considered recordings
Individual songs on the album have different environments and creatures that go with them, often inspired by the galactic rather than earth-bound imagery. Becky: "I imagine dehumanised worlds, planets with creatures that have evolved in a completely different way
The visual side is highly important to the band, all of whom have art backgrounds. "We like to be involved in all the aspects of the presentation because it's symbiotic to the music." They collaborate with artists and with 'the costumologists', coming up with ideas like "outfits that texturally reflect rhythms" and "frequency triggered, light-up costumes". The colourful and organic album cover, a collaboration between photographer Charlotte Rutherford and collage artist Louise Mason, shows their confident image for this record: as they tread the lines of surreal pop.
There is no stopping the imaginations of Stealing Sheep - but like lucid dreams, these are controlled fantasies and skilfully created worlds. Follow them on a hypnagogic journey as they sing: "listen to yourself and look within".1. Sequence

SpiritchaserSpiritchaser, Dead Can Dance's seventh album, was released in 1996 and was the final studio album the band released with 4AD (it was to be another 16 years until they reconvened to make their eighth, Anastasis). Again recording at Brendan's Quivvy Church in Ireland and as hinted at by the album's title, the band had moved their focus away from the traditional medieval and Eastern sound of their middle albums to work with African and Caribbean tribal rhythms. Still unmistakeably Dead Can Dance, percussion is at the forefront throughout Spiritchaser and despite contributions from Ronan O'Snodaigh, Renaud Pion, Lance Hogan, Robert Perry and Peter Ulrich on a few tracks, the album is mostly just Perry and Gerrard. In fine voice throughout, like their whole career's work, their strong singing remains the centerpiece.LP 1

Toys In The AtticRanked 228/500 On Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.
Remastered From The Original Source Tapes!
Contains the classics Sweet Emotion, Walk This Way, & Toys In The Attic
After nearly getting off the ground with Get Your Wings, Aerosmith finally perfected their mix of Stonesy raunch and Zeppelin-esque riffing with their third album, Toys in the Attic. The success of the album derives from a combination of an increased sense of songwriting skills and purpose. Not only does Joe Perry turn out indelible riffs like Walk This Way, Toys in the Attic, and Sweet Emotion, but Steven Tyler has fully embraced sleaziness as his artistic muse. Taking his cue from the old dirty blues Big Ten Inch Record, Tyler writes with a gleeful impishness about sex throughout Toys in the Attic, whether it's the teenage heavy petting of Walk This Way, the promiscuous Sweet Emotion, or the double-entendres of Uncle Salty and Adam's Apple. The rest of Aerosmith, led by Perry's dirty, exaggerated riffing, provide an appropriately greasy backing. Before Toys in the Attic, no other hard rock band sounded like this. Sure, Aerosmith cribbed heavily from the records of the Rolling Stones, New York Dolls, and Led Zeppelin, but they didn't have any of the menace of their influences, nor any of their mystique. Aerosmith was a gritty, street-wise hard rock band who played their blues as blooze and were in it for a good time; Toys in the Attic crystallizes that attitude.

Nothing's Shocking (Awaiting Repress)Ranked 309/500 On Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums Of All Time.
Jane's Addiction may not have been a strict metal band, but their music was certainly full of traits inherent to the genre: hard, gleaming and powerful. Their 1988 release Nothing's Shocking captured the much too short-lived quartet at its absolute peak. Combining radically diverse musical elements from art and classic rock, to hard-core punk and funk, Jane's Addiction was the last great precursor to the alternative revolution of 1991-92. From songs about Ted Bundy (Ted, Just Admit It) to punk ideology as Eastern philosophy (Pigs In Zen) to mystic romances (Summertime Rolls) and early-morning thoughts (Standing In The Shower...Thinking), Perry Farrell consistently dissects his subjects through a psychologically-stimulating viewpoint while the extremely talented band made up of guitarist Dave Navarro, bassist Eric Avery and drummer Stephen Perkin provide the songs with an expansive set of musical colour. Ranked 309/500 On Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums Of All Time.
Although Jane's Addiction's 1987 self-titled debut was an intriguing release (few alternative bands at the time had the courage to mix modern rock, prog rock, and heavy metal together), it paled in comparison to their now classic major-label release one year later, Nothing's Shocking. Produced by Dave Jerden and Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell, the album was more focused and packed more of a sonic wallop than its predecessor; the fiery performances often create an amazing sense that it could all fall apart at any second, creating a fantastic musical tension. Such tracks as Up the Beach, Ocean Size, and one of alt-rock's greatest anthems, Mountain Song, contain the spaciousness created by the band's two biggest influences, Led Zeppelin and the Cure. Elsewhere, Ted, Just Admit It... (about serial killer Ted Bundy) and the haunting yet gorgeous Summertime Rolls stretched to epic proportions, making great use of changing moods and dynamics (something most alt-rock bands of the time were oblivious to). An incredibly consistent and challenging album, other highlights included the rockers Had a Dad and Pigs in Zen, the horn-driven Idiots Rule, the jazz instrumental Thank You Boys, and the up-tempo Standing in the Shower...Thinking. Like most great bands, it was not a single member whose contribution was greater: Perry Farrell's unique voice and lyrics, Dave Navarro's guitar riffs and wailing leads, Eric Avery's sturdy basslines, and one of rock's greatest and most powerful drummers, Stephen Perkins. Nothing's Shocking is a must-have for lovers of cutting-edge, influential, and timeless hard rock.

Safe As MilkCaptain Beefheart's 1967 debut album Safe As Milk introduced the world to a one-of-a-kind visionary whose unique output had no precedent in contemporary music. Beefheart, aka Don Van Vliet, filtered the raw influence of the blues and R&B through his own singular musical sensibility and left-field lyrical wordplay, and surrounded himself with some of the most talented and inventive young musicians around. The result was an album that, even in the heady year in which it was released, sounded like nothing else, and the stage for one of rock's most iconoclastic and idiosyncratic careers.
With backup from the first, and perhaps finest, incarnation of Beefheart's legendary Magic Band (including future solo star Ry Cooder on guitar and teenage drum prodigy John "Drumbo" French), and production from future studio superstar Richard Perry, Beefheart unveils his fully-formed sound and vision on such landmark tracks as "Zig Zag Wanderer," "Abba Zaba," "Dropout Boogie," "I'm Glad" and "Electricity" (covered two decades later by Sonic Youth).
Now released by Sundazed Music, this landmark album now sounds the way it was meant to sound, thanks to the restoration of Perry's rare original-and, to most fans, superior-mono mix, which was later altered by Beefheart's label without the artist's involvement. This definitive edition features authoritative new liner notes by Rolling Stone editor and longtime Beefheart enthusiast David Fricke.
"In mono, Safe As Milk is a powerful, concentrated revelation," Fricke writes, further noting, "Safe As Milk promised comfort, exotic nourishment and rude health-and delivered. Created in a year rich in historic debuts and transformative statements about rock's dynamic and expressive possibilities, Safe As Milk was so far in it was out."1. Sure 'Nuff 'N Yes I Do

Within the Realm Of A Dying SunWith Dead Can Dance now firmly centred round the core of Brendan Perry and Lisa Gerrard, they released their third album Within The Realm Of A Dying Sun in the Summer of 1987, showing both a continued maturity in their sound and rise in their popularity. Recorded during an intense period of musical and personal growth for the band, the album's eight songs are split equally between the duo with the first half being sung by Brendan and the second Lisa. At the time, Q Magazine described the album as combining "superb voice, ethereal church choirs, sweeping strings and a brochure of ethnic music: Middle Eastern, Indian, Moorish, anywhere but London's East End where the couple resided." The album's cover only adds to the album's aura of mystery with a haunting photograph of the family grave at the Père-Lachaise cemetery in Paris of famed French biologist François-Vincent Raspail.1. The Cost Of LivingFor The Revelations, their latest offering, The Cost Of Living (Decision/Sony RED), is a labor of love years in the making. Since they first came on the scene in 2008 with their Deep Soul EP(Decision), Brooklyn, NY's The Revelations have represented a twenty-first-century take on classic soul-one which shows reverence for the masters, but with a uniquely modern sensibility-a sound The New York Times' Jon Pareles calls "revivalism without poses or quotation marks".
On The Cost Of Living, Rell Gaddis assumes the lead vocal duties previously provided by Tre Williams. This is by no means Rell's debut with The Revelations, however. Rell has been part of the group's writing team from their onset, and performed with the band for years, even contributing lead vocals to "It's Too Late" from their 2009 album The Bleeding Edge (Decision). Since being signed to Jay-Z's Roc-a-fella Records back in 1997, Rell has had a prolific singing and writing career, creating his own records, as well as penning and lending vocals to songs featuring artists Usher (Rell wrote Usher's #1 RnB Hit Here I Stand), Jay-Z, Kanye West, Mary J Blige, and many more.
This workman-like mentality is pervasive throughout the band as well. The Revelations feature Wes Mingus on guitar, Gintas Janusonis on drums, and newcomer Ben Zwerin on bass. Each accomplished performing and session musicians in their own right, The Revelations have combined to provide music for icons such as the Wu-Tang Clan and Lee "Scratch" Perry, as well as soul royalty Otis Clay, Willie Clayton, Benny Latimore, and Swamp Dogg.
The distinctive blues/rock/soul sound of The Cost Of Living was recorded at soul mecca Royal Studios in Memphis, TN, produced by Bob Perry with Lawrence "Boo" Mitchell, as well as The Revelations themselves. For this project, the band is joined by Stax and Hi Records session legends Bobby Manuel (guitar), Lester Snell (keyboards), and Charles Hodges (organ). Lyrically, The Cost Of Living weaves tales of perseverance despite hardship. From the opening track, "Mama", about a single mother scrounging to raise her children, to the jaded optimism of "It's Ok", the pragmatism of "Money Makes The World Go 'Round", and the heart-broken disillusionment of the soul classic "Got To Use My Imagination", The Revelations continue their tradition of presenting blues topics with soul music's urgency.
The Revelations' engaging and energetic live performances continue to win over audiences from Brooklyn to the Mississippi Delta to California and beyond, creating fans such as A-listers B.B. King, Bobby Womack and Stevie Wonder in the process. This is new, true soul music with a sharp, modern edge.
