The Shape of Brat Pop to Come

Their debut album features single Running Behind, featured in the 2015 Apple Watch commercial. HOLYCHILD is comprised of Liz Nistico and Louie Diller. They met in college in 2011, have been writing music ever since and call their genre, brat pop. This album takes on nothing less than the idea of power dynamics and inequality-be it racial, social status, or gender-motivated. The beats are wild and the tongues are placed firmly in cheek.

Twenty-Five For The Rest Of Our Lives

Los Angeles quartet The Henry Clay People are thrilled to announce the release of their new album Twenty-Five for the Rest of Our Lives. Set for release on TBD Records, the album is a thrilling and sweaty thirty minutes of teenage restlessness, quarter-life malaise, and adult resignation. Twenty-Five for the Rest of Our Lives sees not only the return of the band's original line up, but songwriters and brothers Joey and Andy Siara rediscovering and redefining their punky roots, allowing them to craft their most urgent, bratty, and melancholic record to date.

"We wanted to finally make the record that our sixteen year old selves would have been excited about," says Joey. "Unfortunately the only way to do so was to live for the last 13 years and get some adult suffering under our belt. Now we can direct our misguided teenage angst at our failed 20's."

With songs such as the rambunctious The Backseat Of A Cab, the 90's guitar slack of Hide, the skater brat inspired The Fakers and the punk revival of EveryBandWeEverLoved, Twenty-Five for the Rest of Our Lives is a record dealing with compromised dreams and empty bank accounts, for and by the high school Descendents devotee turned college Malkmus-minion. LP includes full album on CD and poster.

"The Henry Clay People specialize in raggedy power chords, barreling piano, and desperately boyish vocals, what Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers would sound like if they'd taken temp work and listened obsessively to Crazy Horse." - SPIN

"Remarkable set of classic-sounding indie-rock with clear echoes of Pavement, the Hold Steady, the Replacements and early Built to Spill, but they find their own voice with detailed songs that split the difference between sardonic and heartfelt when describing the music scene, living in debt and working part-time, transforming everyday subject matter into raging, celebratory anthems for slacker rock 'n' rollers and other folks just trying to make ends meet." - KEXP

    Miss E...So Addictive (Pre-Order)

After a long winter of discontent, So Addictive finds Missy Elliott hoping to initiate hip-hop's summer of love. Miss E's third album is dosed with feel-good flavor and has more guests than the VIP section of the hippest hip-hop hot spot. Buddies Method Man and Redman bark across the bridge of Dog in Heat's canine funk. Jay-Z and Ludacris feature on two different versions of One Minute Man's scathing soul. Synths tweak and creak in rhythm as Missy unleashes a dreamy diss of those hopeless suitors who unload their cargo before they've sparked her ignition. Take Away features Pony man Ginuwine on a hypnotic slow-burner heavily reminiscent of Art of Noise's Moments in Love.

When left to her own devices, as she is on Lick Shots (which jangles like Django Reinhardt on downers), Missy comes on like Schooly D, a fearless, female gangsta licking shots against anyone who dares cross her. On Scream a.k.a. Itchin' she breaks into a soprano. A 4/4 stomp is stamped indelibly across the ecstasy-holler song 4 My People (featuring Eve). Overall, it feels as if producer Timbaland has muted his experimental leanings on this outing with his favorite muse in favor of submersible club tracks. Musically, the bhangra beat bop of Get Ur Freak On is the standout. The spiral timing of Whatcha Gon' Do, the fret-skipping Slap! Slap Slap! (featuring Da Brat), and the sunken, drunken funk of the not-so-subtle X-hex X-Tasy are tied at a close second. -Chris Campion

    Welcome To The Worms

Los Angeles-based sister duo Jennifer and Jessie Clavin knew things were going to be different for their band Bleached sophomore LP Welcome The Worms. Not only had they managed to charm world renowned producer Joe Chiccarelli (Morrissey, The Strokes, Elton John) to join the sisters and their bassist Micayla Grace in the studio, but Jen and Jessie had been crawling out of their own personal dramas. While emotionally spinning, they dove head first into music.

The three girls spent time writing the 10 song LP at a remote house in Joshua Tree, away from the distractions of the city. Other times Jen and Jessie worked alone, just like when they were teenaged punk brats playing in their parents' garage, imitating their heroes The Slits, Black Flag and Minor Threat.

In the studio, Chiccarelli and co-producer Carlos de la Garza (Paramore, YACHT) helped the band perfect their fervent songs into fearlessly big pop melodies. They drew inspiration from the iconic hits of everyone from Fleetwood Mac to Heart to Roy Ayers. The result is an ambitious rock record with a new found pop refinement that somehow still feels like the Shangri-Las on speed, driven forward in a wind of pot and petals, a wall of guitars in the back seat.

    Freak Out! (Awaiting Repress)

Since their breakout Fat Wreck Chords release They Came From The Shadows in 2009, Teenage Bottlerocket has been on a relentless (and successful) mission to bring their frenzied and fun-filled brand of music to the masses. From Adelaide to Zurich, TBR has amassed an army of zealous devotees and is now ready to deliver their latest pop punk manifesto, Freak Out! Right out of the gate the punch of the title track serves notice that the Bottlerocket guys aren't fucking around. All 14-tracks sustain such a balls-out level of energy it's impossible to sit still while listening!

From the hallmark breakneck down strumming and fleet rhythms on songs like Headbanger, In the Pit and Who Killed Sensei? to the heavy throttling chorus on Cruising Chicks, Freak Out! never stops to take a breath. Even the mid-tempo songs seem fast! Add to this TBR's uncanny ability to craft mesmerizing melodies, highlighted by Kody's impossibly high harmonies, and what you have is a pop punk masterpiece!

Often drawing comparisons to the legendary Ramones, Teenage Bottlerocket are certainly the modern flag bearers of the classic sound. Yet, on tracks like Go With the Flow and Never Gonna Tell You they manage to stretch the narrow boundaries of the three chord structure, while maintaining the authenticity of the genre. Freak Out! delivers the fun, fast, catchy punk-rock that TBR have built their reputation on, with the perfect amount of unexpected thrills to keep you pogoing for a long time to come. LP with digital download.
