    50th Anniversary Reissue

'Sgt. Pepper' Presented with New Mixes in Stereo and 5.1 Surround Audio; Expanded with Previously Unreleased Session Recordings, Video Features & Special Packaging

Previously Unreleased 1992 Documentary Film, 'The Making of Sgt. Pepper,' Restored for Anniversary Edition's Super Deluxe Boxed Set

Ranked 1/500 On Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums Of All Time!

It was 50 years ago this June 1st when The Beatles' John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr astonished and delighted the world, ushering in the Summer of Love with Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, a groundbreaking masterwork that became popular music's most universally acclaimed album. To salute the occasion, The Beatles will release a lavishly presented 'Sgt. Pepper' Anniversary Super Deluxe Edition Box Set (4 CD/1 DVD/1 Blu-ray). The album is newly mixed by Giles Martin and Sam Okell in stereo and 5.1 surround audio and expanded with early takes from the studio sessions, including no fewer than 34 previously unreleased recordings.

"It's crazy to think that 50 years later we are looking back on this project with such fondness and a little bit of amazement at how four guys, a great producer and his engineers could make such a lasting piece of art," says Paul McCartney in his newly-penned introduction for the 'Sgt. Pepper' Anniversary Edition.

"'Sgt. Pepper' seemed to capture the mood of that year, and it also allowed a lot of other people to kick off from there and to really go for it," Ringo Starr recalls in the Anniversary Edition's book.

The Beatles' "Strawberry Fields Forever" and "Penny Lane," were among the first songs recorded during the 'Sgt. Pepper' sessions, which began in November 1966. Rather than being held for inclusion on the album, the two songs were released as a double A-sided single in February 1967. Amidst intense media speculation about the band's next move, the single bridged what was then considered a long gap between the Revolver album, released in August 1966, and 'Sgt. Pepper,' which followed 10 months later.

This is the first time Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band has been remixed and presented with additional session recordings, and it is the first Beatles album to be remixed and expanded since the 2003 release of Let It Be Naked. To create the new stereo and 5.1 surround audio mixes for 'Sgt. Pepper,' producer Giles Martin and mix engineer Sam Okell worked with an expert team of engineers and audio restoration specialists at Abbey Road Studios in London. All of the Anniversary Edition releases include Martin's new stereo mix of the album, which was sourced directly from the original four-track session tapes and guided by the original, Beatles-preferred mono mix produced by his father, George Martin.

Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band Anniversary Super Deluxe Edition includes:

    • CD 1: New stereo album mix
    • CDs 2 & 3:

      - 33 additional recordings from the studio sessions, most previously unreleased and mixed for the first time from the four-track session tapes, sequenced in chronological order of their recording dates

      - A new stereo mix of "Penny Lane" and the 2015 stereo mix of "Strawberry Fields Forever"
    • CD 4:

      - Direct transfers of the album's original mono mix and the "Strawberry Fields Forever" and "Penny Lane" singles

      - Capitol Records' U.S. promotional mono single mix of "Penny Lane"

      - Previously unreleased early mono mixes of "She's Leaving Home," "A Day In The Life," and "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds" (a mix thought to have been erased from a tape in 1967, but discovered during archive research for the anniversary edition)
    • Discs 5 & 6 (Blu-ray and DVD):

      - New 5.1 surround audio mixes of the album and "Penny Lane" by Giles Martin and Sam Okell, plus their 2015 5.1 surround mix of "Strawberry Fields Forever"

      - High resolution audio versions of the new stereo mixes of the album and "Penny Lane" and of the 2015 stereo mix of "Strawberry Fields Forever"

      - Video features: 4K restored original promotional films for "Strawberry Fields Forever," "Penny Lane," and "A Day In The Life;" plus The Making of Sgt. Pepper, a restored, previously unreleased documentary film (broadcast in 1992), featuring insightful interviews with McCartney, Harrison, and Starr, and in-studio footage introduced by George Martin.

"A splendid time is guaranteed for all"

The album's vibrant artwork, including its extravagant Pop Art cover which finds The Beatles surrounded by a crowd of heroes in a 3D collage, was created by Peter Blake and Jann Haworth in collaboration with the band. The original artwork is showcased across the suite of Anniversary Edition releases, including the album's pull-out sheet of 'Sgt. Pepper' cutouts. Housed in a 12-inch by 12-inch box with lenticular artwork and two bonus posters, the six-disc Super Deluxe set is presented with a 144-page hardcover book. The book includes new introductions by Paul McCartney and Giles Martin, and chapters covering comprehensive song-by-song details and recording information, the design of the cover, the album's musical innovations and its historical context by Beatles historian, author and radio producer Kevin Howlett; composer and musicologist Howard Goodall; music producer and writer Joe Boyd; and journalists Ed Vulliamy and Jeff Slate, illustrated with rare photographs, reproductions of handwritten lyrics, Abbey Road Studios documentation, and original 'Sgt. Pepper' print ads.

    - "We hope you will enjoy the show"

Just as many ideas are sparked by chance, 'Sgt. Pepper' first sprang from a conversation between Paul and Beatles roadie Mal Evans on an airplane, when Mal's request to pass the salt and pepper was misheard by Paul as "Sgt. Pepper." The concept of who such a figure could be took root in Paul's mind, blooming with the imagination of The Beatles as an Edwardian era military band -- "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band." The Beatles' creative wellspring for 'Sgt. Pepper' also flowed from such myriad sources as The Beach Boys' Pet Sounds album, a Victorian circus poster ("Being For The Benefit Of Mr. Kite!"), a TV commercial for breakfast cereal ("Good Morning Good Morning"), a picture drawn by John's young son, Julian ("Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds"), a teen runaway reported in the news ("She's Leaving Home'), and Hindu teachings ("Within You Without You").

"Lend me your ears and I'll sing you a song"

Using the standard four-track tape recording equipment of the day, The Beatles collaborated with producer George Martin to achieve "the impossible," as they dubbed it, to go as far out as they could with arrangements and new technology to realize their collective vision for Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. As George Martin described it, "We were into another kind of art form where you were putting something down on tape that could only be done on tape." The Beatles clocked more than 400 hours in Abbey Road's Studio 2 to record the album, wrapping sessions in April 1967.

"I read the news today oh boy"

Upon its release on June 1, 1967, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band initially spent 148 weeks in the British chart, including a total of 27 weeks at number one. During its first U.S. chart run, the album held the number one spot for 15 of the 88 weeks it appeared in the Top 200. 'Sgt. Pepper' won four GRAMMY Awards®, including Album of the Year, and it remains one of the most influential and bestselling albums of all time. In 2003, the U.S. Library of Congress selected 'Sgt. Pepper' for the National Recording Registry, recognizing the album as "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant." 'Sgt. Pepper' tops Rolling Stone magazine's definitive list of the "500 Greatest Albums of All Time."

    Broadcasting

In 2005, COMEBACK KID joined VICTORY RECORDS and released the astonishing hardcore masterpiece, Wake The Dead, the follow-up to their acclaimed debut, Turn It Around. Wake The Dead was a call to arms. It was life changing and life affirming. It was the communique‚ that the restless youth of the world desperately needed. Punknews.org called it a hands-down 10 out of 10. Wake The Dead made COMEBACK KID one of the most celebrated hardcore bands of new millennium. The band responded to the call and toured the globe several times over in honest hardcore fashion. They played any festival, VFW hall and basement that would have them. Countries that do not even speak the band's language still understood the message and hailed COMEBACK KID as one of today's premier hardcore bands and made them one of the most successful bands in the genre.

The band entered 2007 with a new record that will further their message of community and strengthen the perseverance and pride of the hardcore scene. Broadcasting is the band's monstrous collection of anthems that will inspire listeners to tear into the pit, and chant along as if their lungs depended on it. Broadcasting combines breakneck hardcore punk rock in the tradition of MINOR THREAT, BAD BRAINS and 7 SECONDS with forward thinking lyrics and ferocious melodies similar to RISE AGAINST, RANCID and BAD RELIGION. It is the band's most ambitious record and was one of 2007's most anticipated releases.

Deluxe LP Featuring AIC's Performances At The La Reina Sheraton Hotel in L.A. On September 15th, 1990 & The Hollywood Palladium On December 15th, 1992

This deluxe LP release contains two complete Alice In Chains shows, one apiece from the tours supporting the group's first and second records, often considered two of the most important albums in modern American alternative rock. The first is taken from a performance at The La Reina Sheraton Hotel in L.A. on 15th September 1990, shortly after the release of Facelift, while the second was captured at The Hollywood Palladium on 15th December 1992, hot on the heels of their Dirt album. Broadcast over local FM radio at the highest possible audio quality, and featuring such classics as 'Man In The Box', 'Sea Of Sorrow', 'We Die Young' and 'Would?', this collection will not only be a welcome addition for the Alice In Chains faithful, but equally a fascinating insight into the golden years of the grunge movement itself...

    Future Crayon

Broadcast will have their long out of print albums made available again through Warp Records on LP. This seminal catalogue encompasses the albums Work And Non Work, The Noise Made By People, Haha Sound, Tender Buttons, The Future Crayon and ...Investigate Witch Cults of the Radio Age.

Collecting most of Broadcast's EP tracks, B-sides, and rarities from The Noise Made by People and Haha Sound eras, Future Crayon is a welcome reminder of how consistently interesting the band's output is. Indeed, the band's other EP collection, Work and Non-Work, flowed just as well, if not better, than many other groups' full-length albums. Future Crayon isn't quite that cohesive, but it does chart how Broadcast's sound developed during that time, and also includes some tracks that even die-hard fans might have missed the first time around. The collection begins with a string of relatively poppy songs that rival the quality of anything that appeared on either The Noise Made by People or Haha Sound. Extended Play Two's Illumination is particularly gorgeous, opening with an insistent bassline and Trish Keenan's coolly lovely voice before achieving lift-off with clouds of backing vocals and art-damaged synths. Meanwhile, Still Feels Like Tears from the Pendulum EP takes the title track's stripped-down psych-rock in a lighter, sweeter direction, while Extended Play's Where Youth and Laughter Go begins as a clockwork lullaby and then swells into quintessentially Broadcast-like sci-fi lounge-pop. Future Crayon then delves into the more experimental side of the band's music, which usually only appears as brief interludes on their albums. 1998's Hammer Without a Master, which originally appeared on the Warp comp We Are Reasonable People and is one of this collection's rarest tracks, is an especially striking collage of horror-show organs and death-surf guitars grounded by jazzy drumming; along with Daves Dream, it sounds like a more elegant version of the sound Add N to (X) was pursuing at the time. The aptly-named Chord Simple is a lovely, oddly affecting instrumental that appears twice here, both on its own and as a part of a harder-edged version of Unchanging Window. While the decision to put most of the more accessible tracks on the first half of the disc is understandable, it doesn't always make for the easiest listening -- sometimes, it feels easy to get lost in the more abstract moments later on in the collection. Nevertheless, Future Crayon is a must for Broadcast obsessives and a good way for casual fans to explore some of the rougher edges of their music.

    The Noise Made By People

Broadcast will have their long out of print albums made available again through Warp Records on LP. This seminal catalogue encompasses the albums Work And Non Work, The Noise Made By People, Haha Sound, Tender Buttons, The Future Crayon and ...Investigate Witch Cults of the Radio Age.

After being mired in the studio for nearly three years, Broadcast returned with their first proper full-length album, The Noise Made by People, a collection of more shimmering, weightless pop that is nostalgic for yesterday's visions of the future but remains on the cutting edge of contemporary music. Where their early singles (collected on 1997's Work and Non-Work) painted small, quaint portraits of their retro-futurism, The Noise Made by People delivers their sound in widescreen, filmic grandeur. Richly layered yet airy pieces like the album bookends, Long Was the Year and Dead the Long Year, seamlessly blend symphonic, electronic, and pop elements into smoky, evocative epics, while synth-based interludes such as Minus One and The Tower of Our Tuning present Broadcast's more detached, scientific side. Likewise, Trish Keenan's air-conditioned vocals sometime suggest a robotized Sandie Shaw or Cilla Black, but her humanity peeks out on Come on Let's Go and Papercuts. Echo's Answer and Until Then are two of the other highlights from the album, which despite all of its chilly unearthliness, is a noise made by (very talented) people.

    Measures Of Joy

"Virginia Wing's neo-psych dreamscapes are delicate, yet delectable." - DIY MAG

Measures Of Joy is the debut album from South London based group Virginia Wing. The album is a work of psychedelic majesty that avoids the rockist trappings that many contemporary bands fall into; speaking to everyday anxiety and isolation and in contrast, seeking to evoke an inner world of pastoral fortification.

The startlingly realised collection draws influence from the radiophonic sounds of Broadcast, the kosmische wonder of Cluster and the rhythmic propulsion of This Heat whilst never directly emulating any particular style.

Building on the experimentations found on their 7 on Critical Heights and a 12 EP on Faux Discx, Measures Of Joy encompasses spoken-word passages, brooding electronics and musique concrete influences to create songs that are at once immediate and truly strange.

From the metronomic pulse of World Contact and the avant-pop of Marnie to the sonic experimentation of Gold Thread, Measures Of Joy is a record that consistently surprises and ensnares; a collection of hallucinogenic pop-songs played with a sense of urgency and an experimental verve.

Virginia Wing is Alice Merida Richards, Sam Pillay and Sebastian Truskolaski. The album was recorded at Holy Mountain Studios by Misha Hering.

The Allman Brothers Band At Fillmore East on Numbered Limited Edition 180g Vinyl 2LP from Mobile Fidelity

Telepathically Executed Double Album At Fillmore East Among Ten-Best Live Records Ever Made

Ranks #49 on Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time List: Includes Epic Takes of Whipping Post and In Memory of Elizabeth Reed

Peerless Sonics: Mobile Fidelity Analog Reissue Provides Fifth-Row Seat to Historic March 1971 Concerts

Fillmore East is synonymous with some of the greatest concerts ever staged. Yet the venue belongs to one group: The Allman Brothers Band. This groundbreaking double album is why. As the collective's breakthrough, it broadcasts to the world wowing improvisational flights and seamless musical fusion the likes of which no one had ever heard. In communion with the crowd, the band establishes an interactive blueprint for all shows that followed, while its high-wire displays of powerhouse soloing and time-stretching arrangements remain the stuff of hall-of-fame legend.

Mastered on Mobile Fidelity's world-renowned mastering system and pressed on dead-quiet vinyl RTI, Mobile Fidelity's 180g 2LP of At Fillmore East joins the unparalleled reissue imprint's other Allman titles in presenting the inimitable ensemble's music in the most lifelike, uncompromising fidelity possible. Myriad versions of the 1971 set exist, yet none possesses the audiophile sensibilities found here - sonic traits that whisk the listener to the midst of the Fillmore East for four gigs performed on March 12 and 13, 1971, plunking them down in a fifth-row seat surrounded by fervent fans and a smoke-filled atmosphere. Every slippery bottleneck note, every aching vocal moan, every soulful purr from the organ, every gritty interlocking riff comes across with unfettered clarity and realism.

While the record features multiple works the band never laid down in a studio, At Fillmore East is a meticulously conceived affair. The Allmans prepped rough sketches and layouts of the tunes, carving out spaces for each member's solos, and leaving the direction of such entirely up to the individual. As a result, the effort - anchored by iconic producer Tom Dowd's stellar production - presents a jazz-drifting rock band benefiting from both a sense of assured direction as well as opportunistic freedom.

Indeed, At Fillmore East is the rare sound of a group letting it all go, fearlessly maneuvering through bluesy shuffles, exquisite laments, graceful instrumental passages, and frenetic swamp-laden boogies. Achieved via a combination of virtuosic skill, visionary ambition, and natural chemistry, the six-piece burns white-hot with intensity and persuades via a padlock-tight rhythm section on which Duane's searing slide playing and Gregg's bottom-of-the-stomach vocals glide, each aural utterance coaxing on their respective mates to strive for new heights.

    On Air

On Air is a collection of rarely heard radio recordings from the Stones formative years. The songs including 8 tracks the band have never recorded or released commercially, were originally broadcast on UK shows such as Saturday Club, and Top Gear between 1963 and 1965. The tapes have gone through the "audio source separation" process, making tracks like Come On, (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction, and many more sound better than before.

Previously unreleased live broadcast of intimate Tom Waits performance featuring incredible rarities - plus interviews with the man himself.

Securing his first proper record deal with David Geffen's Asylum label in 1972, Tom Waits would go on to release seven records with the label in as many years. The first of these, Closing Time, was released in March 73 and comprised the most unique collection of original compositions that American critics and consumers had witnessed since the 1960s heyday of Beatles, Beach Boys and Bob Dylan. Informed by the wordsmiths of the beat generation, the blues howlers of a former age, the smooth jazz vocals of Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett, and the country flavoured ballads that Ray Charles had turned to in the early 1960s, Waits developed a cult following with his portrayals of modern American domesticity and love sought and lost. On the 12th August 1973 Waits was to be found performing an in-house set for the renowned L.A. radio series Folk Scene, broadcast weekly by KPFK FM, Tom's performances were augmented with interviews that provide a fascinating insight into his career at this time. Included too on this LP are five additional tracks from a performance Tom made in Santa Monica a few months later on 10th November 1973. Also the subject of an FM broadcast, two further cuts from The Heart of Saturday Night are complimented by a triumvirate of Waits rarities that have seldom been heard before or since.

    Centipede Hz

Centipede Hz was co-produced by Animal Collective and Ben H. Allen III and recorded at Sonic Ranch studios in Tornillo TX (outside of El Paso) by Ben H. Allen III and mixed at Maze Studios in Atlanta, GA by Ben H. Allen III.

Centipede Hz is the tenth full length Animal Collective album following the widely celebrated Merriweather Post Pavilion (2009) and also the first since Strawberry Jam (2007) to feature all four original band members: Avey Tare, Panda Bear, Geologist and Deakin. As the album's opening bars of drum crashes and radio interference on "Moonjock" immediately make clear, having returned as a four piece, Animal Collective have made their most widescreen and fully realized music to date.

Once touring for Merriweather Post Pavilion was concluded at the end of 2009, Animal Collective released their visual album Oddsac on DVD. The film was also screened internationally at theaters and film festivals. The band created Transverse Temporal Gyrus, an installation for the Guggenheim Museum in New York City and subsequently released a 12" single of the performance and launched a website to distribute music from the event. The period between Merriweather Post Pavilion and Centipede Hz also saw the release of two solo albums: Avey Tare's Down There (2010) and Panda Bear's Tomboy (2011).

Regrouping as a four piece with original member Deakin once more in the band, Animal Collective reconvened in their native Baltimore in January-March of 2011 to write material for Centipede Hz with a further session later in the year. Rather than swapping ideas over the internet and file-sharing Animal Collective were, for the first time in many years, exchanging ideas in the same room by playing live instruments.

As a result Panda Bear returned to playing a sit-down drum kit for the first time since Here Comes The Indian (2003) and Geologist began playing live keyboards again. Along with using some of the samplers and sequencers with which they had previously been writing, the sound of Centipede Hz draws on the dynamics and energy of Animal Collective playing together as a band. The return of Deakin is at its most marked in "Wide Eyed," a song that he wrote, featuring his first ever lead-vocal performance and whose title captures the mood of Centipede Hz perfectly.

Part of the inspiration for Centipede Hz included the band's memories of growing up listening to station announcements and commercials on the radio and imagining the after life of radio signals from the past, forgotten transmissions that are now lost in space and broadcasting music from other planets for other life forms. This is reflected in the sound of Centipede Hz, which features the white noise of radio interference and buried frequencies overlaid with the band's peerless melodic sensibilities and compositional methods. The result is a panoramic set of songs that shimmer with the confidence and wonder of Animal Collective's unique inner logic and the luminous warmth of their sound world.

Animal Collective: Avey Tare (vocals, synthesizers, piano, guitar, sampler, sequencer, percussion); Panda Bear (vocals, drums, sampler, percussion); Deakin (vocals, baritone guitar, sampler, percussion); Geologist (sampler, synthesizers, piano, percussion) with: Dave Scher (Beachwood Sparks, All Night Radio) lap steel guitar on "Today's Supernatural," "New Town Burnout," "Pulleys," and "Gotham," and melodica on "Rosie Oh" and Riverside Middle School Choir, which sings on "Father Time" and "New Town Burnout."

The Beatles: On Air - Live At The BBC Volume 2

Features 63 Tracks Total With 37 Previously Unreleased Performances And 23 Tracks Of In-Studio Banter

Includes a 48 Page Booklet With Rare Photos And An Introduction By Paul McCartney

In 1994, The Beatles' Live at the BBC was released to worldwide acclaim - hitting number one in the U.K., number three in the U.S. and selling more than five million copies within six weeks. A new companion to The Beatles' first BBC collection, On Air - Live at the BBC Volume 2, in 180-gram vinyl with a 48-page booklet. On Air's 63 tracks, none of which overlaps with The Beatles' first BBC release, include 37 previously unreleased performances and 23 previously unreleased recordings of in-studio banter and conversation between the band's members and their BBC radio hosts.

In the studios of the British Broadcasting Corporation, The Beatles performed music for a variety of radio shows. On Air - Live at the BBC Volume 2 presents the sound of The Beatles seizing their moment to play for the nation. Thrilled to hear these exciting recordings again, Paul McCartney said, "There's a lot of energy and spirit. We are going for it, not holding back at all, trying to put in the best performance of our lifetimes."

Ten of On Air's songs were never recorded by the group for EMI in the 1960s, including two making their debuts with the new release: The Beatles' direct-to-air performance of Chuck Berry's "I'm Talking About You" and a rocking cover of the standard "Beautiful Dreamer." On Air also includes different versions of six rarities heard on the 1994 BBC collection: Little Richard's "Lucille," Chuck Berry's "Memphis, Tennessee," Chan Romero's "The Hippy Hippy Shake," Ray Charles' "I Got A Woman," and two songs they learned from records by Carl Perkins, "Glad All Over" and "Sure To Fall."

The Beatles' tribute to the BBC's most important pop show of the early '60s - "Happy Birthday, Dear Saturday Club" - is another surprise. As John Lennon recalled in 1980, "We did a lot of tracks that were never on record for Saturday Club - they were well recorded, too." Paul remembers, "We'd been raised on the BBC radio programs. One of the big things in our week was Saturday Club - this great show was playing the kind of music we loved, so that was something we really aspired to."

Between March 1962 and June 1965, no fewer than 275 unique musical performances by The Beatles were broadcast by the BBC in the U.K. The group played songs on 39 radio shows in 1963 alone. Ringo Starr said in 1994, "You tend to forget that we were a working band. It's that mono sound. There were usually no overdubs. We were in at the count-in and that was it. I get excited listening to them." On their busiest BBC day, July 16, 1963, The Beatles recorded 18 songs for three editions of their Pop Go The Beatles series in fewer than seven hours.

The group played 88 distinct songs in their BBC sessions - some were recorded many times; others performed just once. At the time, three national BBC stations provided all daytime radio broadcasting in the U.K. Only the Light Programme network might occasionally play a record. Most broadcast music was live music. Consequently, to promote their releases, The Beatles had to play live at the BBC. "Everything was done instantly," remembered George Harrison, "But before that, we used to drive 200 miles in an old van down the M1, come into London, try and find the BBC and then set up and do the program. Then we'd probably drive back to Newcastle for a gig in the evening!"

On Air also features BBC recordings of 30 well-loved songs from The Beatles' catalogue, including five number on¬es and other favorites such as: "I Saw Her Standing There," "Twist And Shout," "Do You Want To Know A Secret," "Boys," "Please Mister Postman," "Money," "And I Love Her," and "If I Fell."

Like its critically acclaimed predecessor, On Air - Live at the BBC Volume 2 includes audio of The Beatles talking to DJs Brian Matthew and Alan Freeman and Pop Go The Beatles hosts Lee Peters and Rodney Burke. When first broadcast, pop fans were amazed to hear such witty irreverence on the rather formal BBC and it is great fun to hear these extracts now. In addition, On Air releases, for the first time, the group's candid interviews for the Pop Profile series recorded in November 1965 and May 1966.

Newly remastered for reissue on November 11, The Beatles' first Live at the BBC album sounds and looks better than ever. This collection of the group's BBC sessions mixed versions of their hits with a treasure trove of 30 songs The Beatles performed on air but never released on record in the 1960s. The compelling track list ranged from a rare performance of the little known Lennon-McCartney original "I'll Be On My Way" to covers of classic rock 'n' roll and contemporary rhythm and blues songs. At the time of its release, Live at the BBC was hailed by Rolling Stone as "an exhilarating portrait of a band in the process of shaping its own voice and vision." It earned a GRAMMY® Award nomination for Best Historical Album.

Live at the BBC was assembled by George Martin in 1994 and On Air - Live at the BBC Volume Two was compiled and researched by producers Kevin Howlett and Mike Heatley. Both albums have been meticulously mastered by engineers Guy Massey and Alex Wharton at Abbey Road Studios. The booklets for both collections include Kevin Howlett's essays on the history of The Beatles' BBC radio sessions and his detailed commentaries on all of the tracks.

    The Caliph's Tea Party

For The Caliph's Tea Party, Gonjasufi assembled a collection of artists in his musical world and invited them to exchange ideas. In this spirit, the symbolic and musical centerpiece of the album, as well as its namesake, is the result of the mutual admiration formed between Gonjasufi and Broadcast and The Focus Group. A bewitching, drastic re-working of DedNd it takes the form of a suite of layered compositions and radiophonic transmissions.

Elsewhere, reinterpretations from new talents shine while established artists continue to surprise. Mark Pritchard (Harmonic313, Africa Hitech) channels Ennio Morricone with epic orchestral dystopia on his remix of Ancestors while retaining the inherent gravity of Flying Lotus' original production. Young guns Shlomo and Jeremiah Jae eschew their labeling as beatmakers and tap into a fractured emotional core within Change and Holidays, respectively, giving them new leases on life as subtly mechanized melancholia. Bibio smooths out the rough edges of Candylane for a remix indebted to the 1980's R&B leftfield, while Brooklyn's Bear In Heaven and Oneohtrix Point Never deal in heavy motorik meditations and ethereal musique concrete.

    Rave Tapes

Rave Tapes is the eighth studio album by Mogwai and their second
for Sub Pop. Since their formation in 1995, the Scottish quintet
has established itself internationally through a prolific recorded
output and a commitment to touring that few of their peers can
    match.

With Rave Tapes, Mogwai's mastery of sound and space is firmly
at its apex. The album is a lustrous collection mined from the same
quarry as its predecessors, wreathed in painterly textures underpinned
by increasingly electronic beats. The haunted strains of "Deesh"
channel the slow-burning ecstasy of their 2006 song "Auto Rock"
(a key presence in the denouement of Michael Mann's film of Miami
Vice that year), while the guitars on which Mogwai built their
reputation remain, if less overtly belligerent this time round, as
evidenced by the somnambulant opener "Heard About You Last
Night" and the sonic scowl of "Hexon Bogon."

In the past year, the band have broadened their reach with the
soundtrack to the acclaimed Canal+ supernatural drama series Les
Revenants (retitled The Returned when broadcast on Channel 4 in
summer 2013, averaging 1.8m viewers a week; the show is now
broadcasting in the US on the Sundance Channel, and being remade
for A&E). As the show reached its climax on UK TV screens in July,
Mogwai returned to their predecessor to Les Revenants, the 2007
soundtrack to Douglas Gordon and Philippe Pareno's film Zidane:
A 21st-century Portrait, in sell-out performances with the band
playing live while the film was projected above them.

Having barely had time to draw breath, the ever-restless band
kicked off 2013 with the release of the Les Revenants EP, and
wrote and recorded Rave Tapes at the band's Castle Of Doom studio
in Glasgow, Scotland. Rave Tapes was recorded with Paul Savage,
who also worked with the band on their 2011 Sub Pop album,
Hardcore Will Never Die, But You Will. The release of Rave Tapes
will signal the beginning of a frantic year of live activity, including
the group's maiden foray into Africa. Fasten your seatbelts.

Live Zappa Broadcast Recorded In Rotterdam 1980

By 1980 Frank Zappa had endured one of the most turbulent periods of his career. The working relationship between Zappa and his long-time manager Herb Cohen had irreparably broken down due to disagreements over their jointly owned DiscReet label, and he had also parted ways with Warner Brothers after a dispute concerning the four disc LÄther project, and the label releasing his material against his wishes, which had resulted in multiple lawsuits.

Blocked from issuing his own music for over a year, Zappa's main source of income came from extensive touring which he did with a number of small, rock-oriented groups throughout the late 1970s.

Included here too as bonus cuts are a selection of tracks from the same tour - broadcast from Paris and Munich respectively - as well as an extended 1980 interview with Mike Siegel for Boston TV show 'Five All Night, Live All Night', in which a typically sarcastic yet droll Zappa answers questions from the host and the viewers about his family life, his recent legal troubles, and his latest releases. Making in completion a full 160-minute recording across two installments, in quite excellent audio quality throughout, this release will prove a delight for fans and a must have item to add to any decent Zappa collection.

Charlie Watts Meets The Danish Radio Big Band

Before Charlie Watts became the best-known drummer on the planet with The Greatest rock 'n' Roll Band in the World he lived for a few months in Denmark. According to English trumpeter and flugelhorn player, Gerard Presencer, who is also a member of the Danish Radio Big Band, it was something he only found out about by chance when he and Charlie talked on the telephone in 2009

"I landed a job with Danish Radio Big Band in 2009. A week or two after arriving in Copenhagen I got a call from Charlie. Later the idea dawned upon me for a return to his Jazz days over here after nearly 50 years. I spoke with my boss at the Danish Radio Big Band and went about putting this live project together. We agreed upon a week in Copenhagen in October 2010."

They rehearsed for 4 days, then played a concert on the fifth day at the newly opened Danish Radio Concert Hall in Copenhagen. This concert was recorded for broadcast by Danish National Radio. Charlie and his long-time bassist Dave Green went to record shops and strolled around the city, with no need for security guards. Charlie made it clear that he did not want to be placed on a big riser above the band, as he found that this did not help the musicians to bond.

In choosing the material, it was important to focus on the groove. According to Prescencer, "Having Dave Green on bass as special guest was an essential ingredient, as these two boyhood friends (next door neighbours growing up in Wembley, North London) have unspoken psychic connections that bassists and drummers, so there are times on this recording where their abundant empathy makes the rest of the band comfortable enough to really play out and take chances."

The album includes seven tracks, including two Mick and Keith compositions, 'Paint it Black' and 'You Can't Always Get What You Want', both arranged by Prescencer and another one, 'Faction' that is based on another Stones' classic. There are also two by Charlie himself, both written with fellow drummer Jim Keltner.

A day or two after the broadcast Prescencer began to think that the concert was so good it deserved to be heard more widely. "The Danish Radio needed very little convincing to hand over the recordings to me to work on, as well as Søren Frost our regular drummer and rhythm section consultant from the big band and the brilliant recording engineer, Lars C. Bruun. So, after several years work on this, we have produced this collection of music from our gig."

Charlie Watts meets the Danish Radio Big Band is the kind of album that many jazz fans had probably given up hope of hearing. In the glory days of big band jazz and arrangers like Oliver Nelson coming up with brilliant music, albums like this were, if not commonplace, at least more readily available. The truth is there is nothing commonplace about this album, it is a sheer delight.

Anyone who knows Charlie, knows how much he loves jazz. A few years ago when he and I were looking at a photo of the Stones playing in the 1960s he pointed at a particular cymbal and said, "I've still got that cymbal, but I don't use it on Stones' gigs, it's too good for them. I just use it on my jazz gigs." There's no doubt, that's the cymbal you hear on the first part of the 'Elvin Suite'.

Charlie Watts is one of the great ambassadors for jazz and every jazz lover will relish this record, and the fact that Charlie is involved may bring jazz to the attention of some that are not sure if they like jazz. Listen to this and you know you do.
