The music of Elm Street is a huge part of the series, each film having its own unique sound and feel. Charles Bernstein created the original score, and Freddy's main theme that was used throughout the series. His score to the first film is nothing short of a landmark horror score and utterly defines American horror in the '80s - super downbeat, eerie and metallic. Christopher Young (HELLRAISER) supplied the score to FREDDY'S REVENGE, and takes the themes down a more orchestral route, layering sounds upon sounds to create a truly scary listen. Angelo Badalamenti (TWIN PEAKS) composed the score DREAM WARRIORS. Here he crafts moody textures and a woodwind section to create a dreamlike score that fits the theme of PART 3 perfectly. Craig Safan was bought on to compose THE DREAM MASTER, and with the help of a synth-clavier synthesizer he created one of the craziest horror scores of the '80s. Yeah, sure, it's scary and creepy, but it's also a ton of fun and totally unique. For THE DREAM CHILD, Jay Ferguson delivers a synth-heavy score with nods to fairground music and layers of church organs and weird choral samples. For THE FINAL NIGHTMARE, Australian composer Brian May mixes electronic and orchestrations to stunning effect and for the final film in the series. In NEW NIGHTMARE J. Peter Robinson gives us a super lush orchestrated nightmare that harkens back to Bernstein's original.

    Songs For Rounders

The late 50s. A time of crushing conformity. Of well-manicured lawns, white picket fences, and men in grey flannel suits. Not in Hank Thompsons world. With its tales of drunkenness, prostitution , drug abuse, gambling and vagrancynot to mention one of the most notorious album covers in the history not just of country music, but of all popular musicThompsons 1959 LP Songs for Rounders remains one of countrys most essential albums. It all started
when Thompson brought Ken Nelson, Capitols head of country A&R at the time, a song he often featured in his live performances called Cocaine Blues. Nelson told him there was no way the song would ever get any airplay as a single, but suggested it might work as part of an album concept.
Thompson then proceeded to round up a collection of tunes taken from every walk of American popular song and every walk of American lifelike the walk taken in Dallas red light district in Deep Elm. The spirit of the album even extended to the photo shoot. After the cover shots were taken in the morning, Thompson spent the rest of the day in the studio recording. He then went down the street to a bar and found one of the women who had posed with him. She had been drinking since the shoot had ended. She didnt even remember him. This Real Gone vinyl reissue offers the optimum way to experience this landmark album. Remastered by Maria Triana at Battery Studios in New York, cut by Peter Black at FM Mastering, and and manufactured on 160-gram vinyl at Bill Smith Custom Records, this release features the stereo mix of Songs for Rounders, as this record was not only Hanks first stereo recording but also one of the earliest country albums to be released in stereo (just wait til you hear some of those sparkling Merle Travis leads)!

And, we have included an album-size insert with a full-color reproduction of the album cover suitable for framing on one side and notes from Grammy®-winning liner note writer Colin Escott on the other. Essential American music released in its original format, with improved packaging to boot.

Pressed On Black And Brown "St. Bernard" Colored Vinyl

    Limited To 1000 Copies

Ah, life in the country such bucolic bliss. Until your neighbor's dog contracts rabies, kills its owner, and then comes after you! With such emotional extremes, Cujo was not an easy movie to score, but when Stephen King's classic novel came to the screen in 1983 starring Dee Wallace and Daniel Hugh-Kelly with Lewis Teague directing, composer/conductor Charles Bernstein (A Nightmare on Elm Street) proved mightily up to the task. In addition to employing harsh synthesizer effects and dissonant orchestral layers leading up to the climactic showdown between Mom and beast, Bernstein also penned a tender theme expressing the gentle joys of family life. Unfortunately, post production woes mixed up some cues and caused the score to be abbreviated in the film; Intrada's recent CD release presented Bernstein's work for the first time as it was originally recorded, and that's where the 18 tracks on our first-ever vinyl release come from, with new (and terrifying) cover art. Limited black and brown "St. Bernard" vinyl edition limited to 1000 copies!

    Reanimation (Awaiting Repress)

One word: Epic. That's the most succinct way to describe the stunning instrumental debut by cinematic post-rock powerhouse LIGHTS & MOTION. The band's braintrust, 24 year old self-taught multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, producer, engineer, mixer and all around musical savant Christoffer Franzen, created and composed every song in real-time during late night insomnia sessions through pure accident, improvisation and inspiration. And the result? More than you could have ever hoped for. Reanimation is pure, sweeping, musically-animated emotion: modern yet classic, bold yet restrained, grandiose yet humble, storming yet tranquil, swerving yet linear...and you are completely surrounded in the sincerity, the ecstasy, the illumination of it all. Every song is so deeply intimate yet so massively majestic, culminating in a timeless album that is seemingly created from the same stuff dreams are made of. Reanimation will be acknowledged as one of the most important post-rock albums ever to be made...and if this was the last album we ever released on Deep Elm Records, I would consider our 18 year mission an overwhelming success says label founder John Szuch.

Melodies and harmonies, movies and images, loneliness and melancholy are my influences says Franzen. There is just this urge, this need to create and it takes on different shapes. Sometimes it's rough and loud and sometimes it's very quiet. I consider myself to be more and more of a painter of sound. It always starts out with something easy and timid, like a simple brush stroke. Depending on the mood, I change the color and intensity of my next stroke and suddenly the whole impression of what that piece was drastically changes. I compose with layers and depth, and it's often the slightest thing that makes the whole song turn into a new direction, often one I didn't see coming myself. That is part of the journey, at least for the way I write music. I never know what I wiIl end up with, and it's often very different from what I started out with. Sometimes I tell people that this album consists of my dreams...only I wasn't sleeping with they came to me, I just did my best to get them down on tape.

Franzen continues, At the beginning, I really had nothing except for a vision of something vast, heartbreaking and beautiful at the same time. I didn't think in terms of music, but in terms of other things that inspired me, things that painted a picture in my head that I could see so clearly. This was in the Fall of 2011. Without any education in sound engineering or music production, I spent countless nights learning how to get the sounds that I could hear in my head to come out through the speakers. I did this by trial and error, reading endless forums about music production, watching tutorials and experimenting. By doing this I learned the capabilities and limitations of the studio and the gear that I could use, as well as my own as a producer. In order to achieve the sound that I had in mind, I had to pick up all these different instruments and learn how to play them. If somebody had told me one year ago that I would record an entire album by myself, I wouldn't have believed them. I am very proud of it and I can't believe it's done. This album was about gathering the courage to launch an endeavor that was purely my own. It was a reawakening, a rebirth, a resurrection of sorts, and a passageway into a dreamlike world that I created myself...a world to get lost in...a world that gives us hope.

An album for which my immediate feeling is astonishment. I am in awe. Thank you Christoffer. - Troublezine

Cow / Chill Out, World! (Awaiting Repress)

Being pioneers with a new album created in no more than 6 months, THE ORB are bound to be exposed to fan expectations running high, while quizzical questions about little fluffy clouds and the good old times take over. It's especially jarring as the duo of accomplished soundsmiths Alex Paterson and Thomas Fehlmann has become known for its genre-bending curiosity and surprising sonic detours, exploring experimental soundscapes as well as club-friendly beats. The funny thing is, though, that whatever the context, you know a track from THE ORB when you hear it. Case in point: COW / CHILL OUT, WORLD!, their latest full-length offering - a masterful ambient album that branches out in many directions, but unmistakably sounds like THE ORB in either ear (and probably to your third ear, too).

The idea was simply to make an ambient album, Dr Paterson explains, we didn't look back and study earlier recordings, but wanted a more spontaneous approach, a focus on THE ORB today, our vibe in 2016. In contrast to their much-acclaimed previous full-length MOONBUILDING 2703 - which took years to prepare and finetune -, the new album was produced over the course of only five sessions in six months, directly following the like-minded ALPINE EP: it got so spontaneous that a track like 9 ELMS OVER RIVER ENO (CHANNEL 9) consisted only of material collected at North Carolina's Moogfest in May - second-hand records from local stores, field recordings, live samples from gigs that we liked, and of course an excursion to the Eno River, which actually exists. This geographic intimacy and the spontaneity are among the top reasons why we love this album so much.

Herr Fehlmann sees the duo's relentless gigging schedule as a formative influence on the new album: the countless performances we've played in the last years - probably up to 300 - have brought us closer as a musical unit. The spice of our concerts is improvisation - a fertile process that we've brought to the studio, where we operate with very simple rules of engagement (in this case ambient) and go wherever the flow takes us. It's an approach that one might expect from traditional acoustic instrumentation, not necessarily an electronic set-up, but for THE ORB it works wonders: we're quite happy and also a little bit proud that we've reached this level of unscripted levity with purely electronic means. We're finessing ourselves, sort of, always looking for the next sonic surprise that leaves us rubbing our eyes about how the heck we got there.

Once more, THE ORB's trademark playfulness is on full display on COW / CHILL OUT, WORLD!, and it doesn't limit itself to the multi-layered sampling and psychedelic sound composites that the duo has become known for - you'll find it in the album title as well. The simple invitation (or order?) to chill out (relax? Calm the eff down?) is converted into an acronym - and the cow that you might expect to find on a Pink Floyd cover or with iconic UK chill-out/dance pranksters The KLF. It's not so much an obscure trope coming full circle as a perfect example for THE ORB's multitimbral approach to sound and meaning - a compelling, immersive journey to diverse places and impressions. Each track title is a conceptual work in its own right, playing with multiple references, some of which remain highly personal and mysterious. But the greatest feat of THE ORB's latest outing might just be how all this semantic doodling never gets in the way of the actual listening, at all times directly relating the artists' sonic vitality and cheerful nosiness. Chill out world! and treat yourself to an outstanding new ambient experience from THE ORB.
