Are You Experienced? (Music On Vinyl) (Mono - UK Cover)Import
Ranked 15/500 on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.
Ex The Animals musician & entrepreneur Chas Chandler had brought Hendrix to the UK, teaming him up with drummer Mitch Mitchell and bassist Noel Redding. Recordings for Are You Experienced had begun in late October 1966, producing a string of singles preceding the illustrious first album by the world's most famous guitarist. While recording, the future working relationship between engineer Eddie Kramer and Hendrix was forged. The debut album by The Jimi Hendrix Experience was initially issued in mono and then 'enhanced stereo' on later issues.
The UK cover photography was by Bruce Flemming. Releases in Europe had the words Jimi Hendrix placed above the title. These later issues were 'enhanced stereo', with tracks listed on the back.
The USA & Canadian issues were released after the band appeared at the Monterey Pop Festival in June 1967, along with The Who. Its art was directed by Ed Thrasher, using a Karl Ferris infra-red fish-eye photo. There is a key difference to the tracks on this album, with some removed and replaced by the earlier singles, plus a change to the running order. The spelling Foxey Lady appears in some of these issues, and has been adopted for the Music On Vinyl mono reissue.1. Foxy Lady

EX (Performed Live At The Guggenheim NYC)EX is the first album from Richie Hawtin's Plastikman
in nine years. Hawtin was an influential part of Detroit's
techno wave in the early 1990s and continues to be a
leading pioneer of minimal techno. Hawtin's work with
technology has continued to put him at the forefront of
contemporary electronic music. Hawtin is well known and
regarded for his work under the alias, Plastikman under
which he released a series of minimalist records during
the 1990s and early 2000s that put him on the map as a
leading electronic artist.
EX was recorded live at the Guggenheim Museum in New
York City in 2013. Hawtin says of his performance at the
Guggenheim, "it's risky to be in a different context, and
actually push music in a different angle than you would in
a nightclub... And it's challenging to find the right balance
between art and music. That's why I agreed to do this."
All seven tracks on EX feature Plastikman's signature
minimalist workings with transfixing repetitive elements that
prove minimalist music is far from simplistic.1. EXposed

Last Ex is the new instrumental rock ensemble led by Simon Trottier and
Olivier Fairfield, long active in Quebec's experimental/punk scene, though
perhaps best known as core members of Timber Timbre, which spawned the
Last Ex project.
Constellation knew nothing of this back story when the label received the
Last Ex demos in spring 2014; we just heard a compelling, compact, coherent,
highly evocative instrumental album that kept worming its way into our ears.
By the tenth time someone in the office said Let's play that Last Ex stuff
again - and everyone enthusiastically agreed - it was time to contact the
band. This music belonged in the Constellation catalogue: an instrumental
rock album of superb compositional and melodic sensibility, balancing
minimalism and restraint with atmosphere and tone, bound by a refreshingly
original approach to production.
Last Ex makes ample use of the electric guitar as both lead instrument and
textural sound source, structuring most of the pieces around deliberate
melodic and contrapuntal deployments of Spaghetti Western twang, while
distressing, degrading and redeploying those sonics through Fairfield's analog
tape-based manipulations. Trottier takes on most of the guitar duties, with
Timbre Timber's Taylor Kirk contributing on a couple of tunes as well. Tight
bursts of trap set rhythms played by Fairfield, and usually captured with just a
couple of microphones, along with consistently excellent basslines laid down
by both Simon and Olivier, propel the album and make this anything but an
ambient listen. Strings appear on several pieces, courtesy Mika Posen (also of
Timber Timbre), in a wide range of textures and treatments.
With its combination of assured lyricism, cinematic guitars, dusky analog
atmospherics and taut percussion, this is a vivid, concise and expressive
instrumental album that sits snugly between fellow label acts Do Make Say
Think and Exhaust on the one hand, Hrsta, Tindersticks and Evangelista on the
other. Fans of early Trans Am, early/mid Tortoise, Calexico and (obviously)
Timbre Timber should appreciate this as a very satisfying grower of an album
as well. Thanks for listening.1. Hotel Blues

ex:el is the third studio album by 808 State, released in 1991. In contrast to the band's previous works, the album features heavier beats and percussion, embracing earlier flirtations with hip-hop and industrial music.
The album also features the guest vocals of Bernard Sumner of Joy Division and New Order fame, who sings on Spanish Heart. In addition, Björk sings on Qmart and Ooops and is credited with co-writing the two songs, establishing a partnership with 808 State's Graham Massey that would result in his working on many of her solo projects.
Add to all this two of the best techno singles from the early '90s -- In Yer Face, a subtly politicized anti-American slammer, and the almighty Cubik; and Ex:El stands out all the more strongly. A true masterpiece.

RipsEx Hex is a power trio hailing from Washington, DC, making the music
you've been waiting for. Drums, bass, guitar, P90s, searing leads-this is
unapologetic rock 'n' roll spat out in the discipline's mother tongue.
With Wild Flag on hiatus, Mary Timony (Autoclave, Helium) needed a new
outlet, so she retreated to her basement and started writing. To her surprise,
the songs came easily and the hooks practically wrote themselves.
Mary found Laura Harris (The Aquarium, Benjy Ferree) and they hit it off
immediately. Laura is a monster on drums: intuitive, solid, and just a bit rough
around the edges. The pair played together for a couple of months in a tiny
carpet-lined practice space shared with half a dozen hardcore bands and what
appeared to be the better part of a B.C. Rich Mockingbird.
In walked Betsy Wright from the wilds of Virginia. She and Mary have similar
tendencies, both defaulting to denim and The Voidoids. Betsy is a performer
and an ace piano player, and before long, she was slinging a cherry SG as the
third member of Ex Hex.
The group played a handful of shows and a couple of months later, in the
spring of 2014, headed into the studio. Working furiously, they recorded over
the span of two weeks in North Carolina with Mitch Easter (Let's Active) and
in the basement of Mary's home with frequent collaborator Jonah Takagi.
Bobby Harlow (The Go, Conspiracy of Owls) was tapped to mix because of
his unique take on making rock records.
What results is Ex Hex Rips, twelve songs about underdogs, guys stealing your
wallet, schoolyard brawls, and getting bent. The record happens pretty quickly,
so don't blink.1. Don't Wanna Lose

True HallucinationsFormed in 2011 by Brian Harding (ex-Hymns) and Amalie Bruun (ex-Minks), the duo self-released a short-run, homespun CD-EP of hazy, lo-fi recordings featuring Harding's opaque bedroom-pop songwriting juxtaposed with the duo's sun-kissed harmonies. Two of the tracks, You Are a Lion, I Am a Lamb b/w The Millionaire, were soon released to the world on vinyl as the premiere release from Other Music Recording Co. and the pair continued to write new songs while simultaneously playing more live shows, now working as a proper five-piece rock band with the addition of good friends Kai Kennedy, Leif Huckman and Sam Bair.
Keeping a handful of Ex Cops' early sessions in place, the newly expanded lineup took to the studio to record True Hallucinations with John Siket (Blonde Redhead, Yo La Tengo, Sonic Youth, etc.) sitting in the production chair. The resulting album is a mind-altering pop pill that maintains the intimate mood of the original group's sound, but now presented in widescreen Technicolor.1. S&HSXX (Intro)

DaggersEx Cops, a nomadic duo featuring Amalie Bruun and Brian Harding, brings the hook-heavy blast of '90s alt-rock into a new era on their second album Daggers. Executive produced by icon-of-form Billy Corgan and produced by Justin Raisen (Sky Ferriera, Charli XCX, Kylie Minogue), the record rescues guitar-pop from the bedroom, returning it to the stage it deserves.
Formed in 2011, the group's first album True Hallucinations, released in early 2013, was a critically-acclaimed collection of sprawling indie-pop. From the exuberant "Spring Break (Birthday Song)" to the band's dreamy debut "You Are A Lion, I Am A Lamb," the John Siket-produced record (Blonde Redhead, Yo La Tengo) was a genre-jumping opening salvo and its wall-to-wall guitars set the tone for their new album.
Daggers is a musical about-face, though. "We are not afraid of our favorite music anymore," says Harding. "It's pop."
Billy Corgan, in addition to sharing the band's love of ABBA and taking them to their first wrestling match, provided form and texture to the new tracks over a two-week period in Chicago. The band then took the material to LA for tracking with Raisen and continued collaborating with artists like Ariel Pink, who co-wrote "Burnt Out Love" and features on "Tragically Alright."
The result reinvents modern rock. "White Noise," with its addictive chorus, merges guitars that could make your teeth ache and a motorik electronic pop pulse. The impeccably-produced "Teenagers" brings club-ready downtown pop to an anthemic peak, while "Black Soap" shifts shoegaze textures to stadium status and "Rooms," one of the album's emotionally-resonant ballads, packs a substantial punch.1. The new 2Qute takes the technology from What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision's 2014 Best DAC - (Hugo) and adds it to What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision's 2014 Best DAC £700 - £1,000 (Qute EX). The result is a new super-DAC with class-leading specification, outstanding technical measurements and proven sonic performance.
2Qute advances the award-winning Qute EX DAC with the latest Hugo specification. Essentially a Hugo in a Chordette chassis, it brings the latest FPGA DAC technology into an affordable home-system-orientated unit. 2Qute contains the same high-performance Spartan 6 FPGA that has enabled Hugo to redefine the DAC genre in 2014. The 2Qute also boasts astonishingly low distortion levels of 0.0003%.
The 2Qute offers support for up to 32-bit/384kHz audio via coax and USB, and 24-bit/192kHz over optical. DSD64 is supported on all inputs and DSD128 is supported via coax or USB (all via DoP). The new DAC also gains a handy switch to easily move between coax, optical and USB digital inputs.
The device features a Class 2 USB input which, because of the 2Qute's home-system orientation compared to Hugo's more mobile aspirations, has been galvanically isolated for greater sonic performance. This has been achieved using a novel technique which allows for very high data rates of up to 384kHz; the input is driverless on Apple and Android devices, with (ASIO included) drivers for Windows devices.$1,349.00DAC Buy Now

Cortar TodoFor over fifteen years, Zu's modus operandi of straddling and abusing musical genres has resulted in over fifteen unique album releases across labels such as Ipecac, Atavistic and Headz (Japan). Their experimental amalgam of metal, math, no-wave, noise and electronics, led acclaimed composer John Zorn to describe their sound as a powerful and expressive music that totally blows away what most bands do these days.
In the running for the title of the world's hardest working band, Zu have performed over 1000 shows throughout Europe, US, Canada, Asia, Russia, Mexico and even Africa, touring with the like of Mike Patton (as the Zu/Patton quartet), also sharing the stage with Faith No More, Fantômas, The Melvins, Lightning Bolt, Sonic Youth, The Ex, and countless others. They have also collaborated with a vast number of musicians including Mike Patton, The Melvins, DÄlek, Jim O' Rourke, FM Einheit (Einsturzende Neubauten), Peter Brötzmann, Nobukazu Takemura, Eugene Robinson (Oxbow), Steve MacKay (The Stooges), The Ex, Thurston Moore, Stephen O Malley, Damo Suzuki (Can), Mats Gustafsson, NoMeansNo, Joe Lally (Fugazi).
Five years since their last full length on Ipecac, the critically acclaimed Carboniferous, and following a three year hiatus, Zu returned in May 2014 with the release of a brand new EP, Goodnight Civilization (Trost Records) and with a line up change that introduced the mighty Gabe Serbian, best known as the drummer for the legendary Californian band, The Locust.
In March 2015, Zu are preparing to release a brand new full length via Ipecac Recordings, entitled Cortar Todo, and recorded in the countryside near Bologna, Italy, in the summer of 2014. The album features some very special guests including keyboard player Joey Karam (The Locust), Italian guitar maverick Stefano Pilia (who plays regularly with the likes of Mike Watt, David Grubbs and Rokia Traore) and perhaps most unexpectedly, a field recording of an indigenous Shipibo medicine man recorded by Massimo during his travels around the Amazon.
Cortar Todo reveals new dynamics from the band, the album is more direct, sharp, focussed, and more intense and musical than anything we have heard from Zu so far. In addition to the album release, we can expect a long period of touring starting in Spring 2015.1. The Unseen War

Annabel Dream ReaderFormed in Brighton in 2011, The Wytches comprises Kristian Bell (vocals, guitar), Dan Rumsey (bass, vocals) and Gianni Honey (drums). Led by Bell's luminous lyricism, feral delivery and overdriven, surf-like guitar bends, the trio create a sound that is at once raucous and unruly, and yet decorated with semi-automatic poetry and authentic emotional clout.
Recorded at Liam Watson's 8-track analogue ToeRag Studios in Hackney, Annabel Dream Reader was tracked in two days under the supervision of producer Bill Ryder-Jones (ex-The Coral). Comprising thirteen songs, Annabel Dream Reader sees the three-piece accomplish a dark and heady sound that embraces the black arts and the more extreme limits of rock, but which is never prescriptively macabre. Bury The HatchetAt long last, the wait is over: OCTOBER 31 deliver their long-awaited fourth album, Bury the Hatchet. The band's first album in nine years, Bury the Hatchet sees OCTOBER 31 returning with a vengeance, firing off one mean, lean headbanger after another.
