Limited edition vinyl LP pressing of the uber-successful album from this UK vocalist. 'Back To Black' is the second album from London-based chanteuse Amy Winehouse. Although her 2003 debut was a success, her rowdy offstage behavior became the focus of tabloids and critics instead of the music. Because of this, Winehouse stepped out of the spotlight and concentrated on putting the focus back on her music. Three years later, her sophomore release has surprised critics and excited her fanbase. Combining a strong, Jazzy vocal style with often frank lyrical content recounting tales of love and loss, Winehouse is a truly talented songwriter with a good ear for melody, making this album an essential purchase. Includes the single 'Rehab'. Island.

    Antipodes

Popstrangers are Joel Flyger, Adam Page and David Larson, three native New Zealanders who make pop music that's hard-driving, punk-influenced and sonically inimitable. After releasing several singles on fabled New Zealand label Flying Nun, the band arrives with their debut album Antipodes. Recorded in the basement of a 1930's dancehall, Popstrangers' first full-length features dissonant, claustrophobic melodies, anchored by the languid affectations of Flyger's vocals, that bring a vintage feel to their decidedly contemporary garage rock.

    Lord

"This thing is fast, heavy, and sneakily melodic - i.e. it sounds like something you
might've heard out of the Pacific Northwest 20-30 years ago, like Nirvana having a
Sonic Youth fever dream." - Stereogum

Lord is the debut from Seattle-based punks FF, a trio comprised of Claire
Nelson, Harley Thompson, and Michael Abeyta. For the entirety of their
nascent existence they have existed on the fringes of the fertile enclave
that is the Northwest DIY underground, materializing a singular vision of
gloomy, ethereal punk anthems along the way. For sure, the touchstones
are there - My Bloody Valentine, The Wipers, Sonic Youth, the Flying Nun
Records cabal - but the collection of songs that compile Lord breakout
from the suffocating box of 90's revivalism, and offer a profound alternative to an overwhelming culture of nostalgia.

Recorded over the bulk of 2013 with Seattle engineering wiz Dylan Wall
(Weed, Craft Spells), Lord is a collection of songs that capture a band
on the cusp of their potency.

It's the score of a filmmaker who knows how music can completely compliment Jared Hess' wry, expressionistic brand of humor. - Ain't It Cool

    Floodland Era Collection

One of England's leading goth bands of the 1980s, the Sisters of Mercy play a slow, gloomy, ponderous hybrid of metal and psychedelia, often incorporating dance beats; the one constant in the band's career has been deep-voiced singer Andrew Eldritch. (There is some disagreement as to whether the group took its name from an order of Catholic nuns or from the Leonard Cohen song of the same name.) Eldritch originally formed the band in 1980 with guitarist Gary Marx and recorded its first single with a drum machine dubbed Doktor Avalanche. Guitarist Ben Gunn and bassist Craig Adams were added to make live gigs feasible, and the Sisters built a reputation through several singles and EPs. Gunn left the band in 1983 and was replaced by Wayne Hussey. the Sisters of Mercy recorded their first full-length album, First and Last and Always, in 1985, but two years later, internal dissent had split them apart; Marx left to form Ghost Dance, and Adams and Hussey departed shortly thereafter.

A legal dispute ensued over the rights to the name Sisters of Mercy; Adams and Hussey attempted to use the name Sisterhood, but Eldritch released an EP under the name to prevent its usage, and the two finally settled on the Mission. Eldritch chiefly utilized a corps of temporary sidemen from this point on (although former Gun Club bassist Patricia Morrison was an official member of the group for a short time) and rebounded with his two biggest-selling American LPs, Floodland and Vision Thing. Despite ceasing studio recordings, Eldritch kept the band active as a performing entity through the first decade of the 2000s and beyond.

    Fortuna

Fortuna, the second full length from New Zealand trio
Popstrangers, trades the grunge revivalism of the band's
previous releases for buoyant hooks and '60s pop. Pairing their
minor-key riffs with pervasively melancholic songwriting, the
band's rened sense of melody is on full display on Fortuna,
which echoes the classic guitar pop of their homeland's Flying
    Nun Records.

Recorded over ve days in London, Popstrangers' warped tales
of infatuation and aggression are anchored by Joel Flyger's
tactile vocals, which steep in subterranean effects before
ripping clean through the album's choruses. The band's pop
sensibilities are at their best on standout Country Kills, where
Flyger shrugs off his looming demise with a wink and an
indelible riff. My country will kill me now, but whatever. The
band is quick to tamper Fortuna's catchy strains with atonal
guitars and a nervous pace, the record's building sense of
anxiety concluding with the psych comedown of What's On
    Your Mind?

Eschewing the squalling guitars that propelled their debut album
Antipodes for clear-headed production and lush choruses,
Popstrangers hit their stride on Fortuna, crystallizing their
inuences into a succinct record of indie psych that never
    lingers too long.

    Range Anxiety

Formed in Melbourne in late 2008, Twerps enjoyed immediate success, releasing a series of vinyl singles and cassettes on various labels around the world. Their 2011 self-titled debut album was recorded with producer Jack Farley at Head Gap, marking the band's first foray into a "bona fide" recording studio. The release of Twerps led to appearances at SXSW and CMJ and tours with Real Estate, Mac DeMarco, and others. Not wanting to wait until 2015 to unleash new songs on present and future fans, Twerps quickly recorded the delightful Underlay EP, which Pitchfork described as "songs fraught with universal, emotionally familiar sentiments."

And now, Merge brings you Twerps' second full-length album, Range Anxiety. Also recorded with Jack Farley, its title refers to a debilitating fear of running out of gas-both literally and metaphysically. As singer-guitarist Julia McFarlane explains, "The title Range Anxiety is both descriptive and comic. The album at times feels like it was built on uncertainties; some purely practical and some emotional obstacles were present around the start of writing."

Twerps are a very collaborative band, with most songs being written in rehearsal rooms. "Obviously, we write the lyrics separately, but the band is best when everyone is being creative," muses Julia. "Rick and Alex are big voices in the stylistic direction of the band. Rick is a genuinely curious mind and also a vast library of musical reference. As a graphic designer, he has a much more sophisticated ability to interpret and articulate ideas than most people I know, and he has introduced Martin and me to some of Twerps' most coveted influences. Bringing Alex to the band also meant introducing another songwriter. He probably has made ten more records than us collectively and has been a real burst of energy in the band due to his militant
work ethic and enthusiasm for productivity."

Range Anxiety is a worthy showcase of the creativity and vitality Twerps bring to their music. At first listen, nods to The Go-Betweens and the band's beloved Flying Nun influences are clear, but upon closer examination, Twerps expand into a sound uniquely their own.

Twerps are Martin Frawley (guitar, vocals); Rick Milovanovic (bass, vocals, synthesizer); Alex Macfarlane (drums, guitar, vocals); and Julia McFarlane (guitar, vocals, keyboards).

Part one of Guns N' Roses' ambitious third album stays closer to the band's bluesy hard-rock roots and it is largely considered the better of the two part release. Use Your Illusion I scored three Top 40 hits with the Wings cover Live and Let Die, the piano-driven, Elton John-flavored epic November Rain and the hard-edged ballad Don't Cry. Celebrity cameos include a then unknown Shannon Hoon, Hanoi Rocks' Mike Monroe and Alice Cooper, who makes a particularly sinister contribution to The Garden.

4 LP Box Set With Live Recordings Packaged Together In Sequence For The First Time

Comes Complete With Stunning Related Photographs And An Original Facsimile Press Kit

40 years on and, for good or ill, the Sex Pistols remain the band that we think of first when we think of the 70s punk revolution that continues to resonate. There isn't much they can do about that. History has spoken.

They were the band largely responsible for kicking against the established rock order and establishing a new attitude and DIY aesthetic. Although they would quite naturally baulk at the idea of being called a 'punk' outfit, it does on a certain level appear very timely that we're celebrating the 40th Anniversary of punk this summer with this fantastic live collection.

It was the summer of '76 and the Sex Pistols were causing havoc up and down the country. It has been noted that this series of gigs inspired a generation to make their own music and arguably turned the musical world on its head - such was the power and influence the band had.

This collection, with the concerts released in full and correctly sequenced for the very first time also comes complete with stunning related photographs and an original facsimile press kit including articles from Melody Maker, Sounds, Rock Star and Rock New.

    Get Back

It's doubtful that Stephen McBean set out to make The Great Rock 'N' Roll Primer when he started conjuring the
songs that would come to be Pink Mountaintops' Get Back.

The record's beginnings were reasonably straightforward: McBean had moved to Los Angeles, taken a long hiatus
from Black Mountain and an even longer one from Pink Mountaintops when he met producer Joe Cardamone, lead
singer of Icarus Line at Valley Recording Company in Burbank,CA.The two bonded quickly over Flying Nun bands,
Television Personalities, Roxy Music, Johnny Thunders, and Born Against. Joe was excited to meet someone he
actually liked. Stephen was excited to work with someone who said Sing it like you would've sung it when you were
    21. Simple enough,right?

But ask him to set the scene and you'll hear about a motorcycle shop owned by Michael Barragan, former member
of Los Angeles noise rock band Plexi. You'll hear about an endless supply of rock 'n' roll video documentation for
last minute inspiration or de-evolution in the living room.Ask who's on the record and you'll get a constellation of
greats:J Mascis(DinosaurJr &Witch),Rob Barbato (Darker My Love,The Fall & Cass McCombs), Steve Kille (Dead
Meadow), Daniel Allaire (Brian Jonestown Massacre, Cass McCombs & Darker My Love), Annie Hardy (Giant
Drag), Jon Wahl(Clawhammer), and Gregg Foreman (Cat Power & Delta 72).Randal Dunn (Sunn O))),Earth, Sun
City Girls, Boris) mixed Get Back at Avast! Studios (Bikini Kill, Mudhoney, Christ On A Crutch, Soundgarden) in
Seattle. Howie Weinburg (Nirvana, Beastie Boys, Danzig, Ramones, Slayer) mastered it in Laurel Canyon.

Ask about the record itself and McBean will tell you about Alleys, curbs, walls, and cigarette stained gig flyers. An
island on the Pacific coast. Fake British towns. Slayer posters. The beauty of youth. It's about listening to Driver's Seat
and 'Guns of Brixton' and hotboxing The Duster. And suddenly it becomes clear: when the aliens do touch down
and they don't know rock 'n'roll, you can play them Get Back start to finish, and that'll be all they need.

Get Back comes out swinging with Ambulance City, a head-trip of a song with a chugging, insistent, oddly timeless
guitar riff sitting front and center. The Second Summer of Love needs almost no explanation; it dives into 80s VHS
saturation and never comes up for air. Sell Your Soul is a deep sigh and a motorcycle ride, a roll in the grass
lamenting summertime blues with a little grit and a little harmony. And North Hollywood Microwaves is
downright obscene. But what better way to start Side B than this? You can listen at hushed volumes so your parents
don't hear, you can crank it in a dorm room, you can smirk to yourself from the safety of rock 'n'roll's old age.You
start to wonder- why don't all Side Bs start with a song like this one

The number of platitudes in music hit critical mass years ago, and among those tropes is that annoying, inescapable
mantra:rock 'n'roll is undefinable. And yeah, sure, that's true. It's different things to different people. It starts with
guitars, maybe, and ends with a stage-dive, or spit, or feedback. Rock 'n'roll is drugs, is rebellion, is youth, is sex, is
cosmic. It's wanting more than you have.Rock 'n'roll is butts and cigarette butts. And Pink Mountaintops might not
be the best-known band ever to make rock 'n' roll, but in Get Back they just might have written its scripture -- an
exploration and celebration of what, exactly, rock 'n'roll can be.

    Getaway

Includes Bonus CD compiling 2001's Slush Fund EP & 2003's Syd's Pink Wiring System Album

2001's Getaway may be the best illustration of whatever mercurial, inexplicable musical power animates The Clean. After the band's initial rush of activity between 1978 and 1982, the trio lay dormant until the end of the '80s, when a string of reunion shows inspired the Kilgours and Scott to start recording again. After three well-received albums in the first half of the nineties-1990's Vehicle, 1994's Modern Rock, and 1996's Unknown Country-The Clean disappeared again until the end of the decade, when another tour inspired another record.

While playing gigs across New Zealand in celebration of their original label Flying Nun, David says they brought along a TEAC 4-track quarter-inch tape machine. "As usual, we started jamming and recording, and before you know, we thought we may be onto an LP." Speed and spontaneity ended up defining Getaway. Robert says, "I remember writing 'Silence or Something Else' while the others went for a long walk. It was done by the time they got back. I probably would have gone for a straighter version, but I still like it." David remembers, "Hamish wrote the instrumental 'Jala' in about five minutes in a motel outside of Turangi." At one point in the process, Yo La Tengo's Ira Kaplan and Georgia Hubley were visiting from America, and they ended up on the record too. Getaway came out in August of 2001, with cover art by Hamish who says that his original artwork was the actual size of a compact disc case. After that, The Clean set out on another tour-including in New York City, where they happened to be during the terrorist attacks on 9/11. They coped with the tragedy by playing gigs with their American friends, and staying in the same creative space they'd been in since before they started working on the album. "I remember we did some great gigs on the New Zealand tour, debuting some of the new material," Hamish says. "'Stars' was a favorite for the big 12-string sound."

A live version of the pulsing, soaring "Stars"-along with a couple of other Getaway songs and Clean classics like "Fish," "Side On," "Quickstep," and "Point That Thing Somewhere Else"-appear on the rare 2003 album Syd's Pink Wiring System. That record is included with the Getaway reissue, along with the more experimental, piano-driven EP Slush Fund, from the same era. These bonus tracks reinforce the idea of the Getaway-era Clean as especially plugged in, generating inspired and beautiful music almost on instinct. Indeed, they've done justice to a key album in The Clean discography-a record that honors the band's origins as garage-rock-loving New Zealand kids, excited just by the hum of a good, cheap amplifier. Songs like the twangy, easygoing "Crazy," the jaunty acoustic snippet "Cell Block No. 5," and the trance-inducing "Circle Canyon" are more fine examples of Scott and the Kilgours' interest in immediacy and a strong vibe, applied to catchy melodies. "Each album is a completely different beast," Robert says. "We all change in different ways between each one, bringing different things to the table, and sometimes bringing nothing much at all." But if Getaway proves anything, so long as all three members of The Clean are in the same space at the same time, anything can happen.
