Sting, wove Jamaican rhythms into his early work with The Police as well as his solo repertoire. While Shaggy, born and raised in Kingston, Jamaica and cutting his musical teeth in the dance hall clubs of Brooklyn and Manhattan. The two initially joined creative forces to record "Don't Make Me Wait" as a tribute to the Caribbean sounds that influenced them both - and ended up recording an entire album full of joy, melody and uplifting music.
44/876 was recorded in Jamaica and New York with Sting & Shaggy being joined by various musicians and writers including the legendary Robbie Shakespeare of Sly and Robbie, dancehall sensation Aidonia, Morgan Heritage, Branford Marsalis, Agent Sasco and Sting's longtime guitarist, Dominic Miller as well as writers Taranchyla, Dwayne "iLL Wayno" Shippy, Shane Hoosong, Machine Gun Funk and Patexx. The sessions were produced in part by Sting International ("Oh, Carolina," "Boombastic" and "It Wasn't Me,") and by Martin Kierszenbaum who has previously written/produced songs for Sting, Madonna and Lady Gaga. UK Version Of The Self-Titled Album, Newly Remastered By The Clash From Original Source Tapes To Audiophile Quality
All Artwork Recreated From Original Release Including Replicated Fully Printed Inner Sleeves
The Clash's label didn't believe this debut would sell in the United States. By the time CBS got around to releasing a stateside version of the U.K. album, the British original had become an import hit. While the U.S. release contains outstanding tracks such as Complete Control and Clash City Rockers, it's still missing Cheat, Protex Blue, 48 Hours, and Deny. No matter which version you prefer, The Clash is a fearsome listen. Joe Strummer reviles the system at every turn, while Mick Jones wields his guitar like a switchblade. Yet even on their debut there are hints of future musical adventures. Junior Murvin's Police & Thieves is solid reggae, while White Man in Hammersmith Palais expertly interpolates the reggae groove into their punk attack.

Soda StereoEngland had The Police, United States had Blondie... and Argentina had Soda Stereo, one of the greatest bands of the new wave explosion and without any doubt one of the most important in the history of Rock in Spanish.
Their debut was a refreshing breath of modernity and smart lyrics: produced by Federico Moura (leader of Virus), the album contained strong attacks against the lack of control of the consumer society, and it was sarcastically launched at a local fast food chain. Soon it was awarded Platinum in Argentina and Peru, and Double Platinum in Chile, making it an essential title to understand modern music in Latin America.

Sorrow, Tears And BloodUprising of 1976 in which thousands of South African students protested the forced teaching of Afrikaans, the colonial language of Apartheid. During the uprising and the ensuing riots, hundreds of students were killed. The song calls out killings that have gone on in the name of authority and totalitarian rule as well as the instruments of repression of colonial Africa - the police and the army. In this way the song indirectly references the brutality that Fela and his family have experienced in the series of raids on his family compound, the Kalakuta Republic. The musical composition parallels the somber tone of the lyrics; focused and direct, the track avoids the bombastic funk of many of Fela's compositions.
"Colonial Mentality" follows in the same manner, pointing out that those who wish to live in a post-colonial mentality are in essence living as slaves. Musically, the Africa 70 returns to a more funk and jazzy grooves while relaying a pertinent message to those who looked to Fela as a leader of the resistance.1. Opposite People

AfrodisiacThe best known song on 1973's Afrodisiac is "Jeun Ko Ku," a satire about gluttony and Fela's first major hit in West Africa. In Broken English, the title means "chop and quench," which, in turn, means "eat and die" in Standard English. Lyrically, the standout track is the closing "Je'Nwi Temi" ("don't gag me"), a critique of the Nigerian political/military establishment and a defence of free speech. Fela vows that he will always tell it like it is, no matter what. This proved to be prophetic stuff, given the police and army assaults, intended to silence him, which were just around the corner. "Alu Jon Jonki Jon" draws on the interaction between animals and humans that is part of Yoruba mythology, in a tale about a dog who betrays his friends. Like many of Fela's lyrics of the period, the lyric employs parable and metaphor to encourage ethical conduct in everyday life. In "Eko Ile," Fela sings that there is no place like home (Eko was the pre-colonial name of Lagos). Afrodisiac was recorded at EMI's Abbey Road studios in London. According to the original sleeve credits, the album was produced by Jeff Jarratt. Fela only infrequently employed outside producers on his albums. Sometimes the results were excellent: British dub master Dennis Bovell's Live In Amsterdam (1983); Ginger Baker's psychedelia-tinged He Miss Road (1975); and Wally Badarou's Teacher Don't Teach Me Nonsense (1986). On another occasion it was spectacularly bad: Bill Laswell's remix and overdubbing of Army Arrangement (1985), made while Fela was in jail in 1984 on currency smuggling charges. Friends smuggled a cassette of Laswell's version into Fela. Listening to it, he said later, was "worse than being in prison.' On Afrodisiac, Jeff Jarratt was clearly working under Fela's close direction. The sound is classic Africa 70: punchy, raw, "live in the studio."1. Alu Jon Jonki

CBGB: Original Motion Picture SoundtrackWATCH OUT! PUNK IS COMING!
By the end of 1973, New York City was bankrupt, Watergate had compromised the credibility of the U.S. government, and the Carpenters were the bestselling
young recording act in America. Rock 'n' roll was dead!
Enter Hilly Kristal, who dreamed of running a country & blues bar in the Bowery. Instead, the club he opened, CBGB (Country, Bluegrass, Blues) became
the birthplace of punk and underground music. CBGB was the modern-day salon for the disenfranchised youth of New York City and Kristal gave these
young local bands a stage. Artists such as the Talking Heads, Blondie, Patti Smith, Ramones, Dead Boys and Television all started at this iconic club.
The story of Hilly Kristal and his legendary club will be coming to theaters this October when CBGB hits the big screen. The film has an all-star ensemble cast headed by Alan Rickman (the Harry Potter series, Die Hard) who plays Kristal. Co-starring with Rickman will be Malin Akerman (The Proposal,Suburgatory), Ryan Hurst (Sons Of Anarchy), Ashley Greene (The Twilight series), Johnny Galecki (The Big Bang Theory), Stana Katic (Castle) and
Rupert Grint (the Harry Potter series).
Omnivore Recordings is proud to present CBGB: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack on CD and naturally, double-LP (with first pressing on translucent
pink vinyl). An essential collection of songs that made the punk movement, CBGB presents twenty slices of original American music, many rarely
compiled or unavailable for years. The soundtrack contains music from influential artists that informed the scene (The Velvet Underground, The Stooges
and MC5), to acts that broke through with huge commercial acclaim (Talking Heads, Blondie and The Police). And there's even music from bands whose
legendary status will forever be linked to the club that gave them a voice (Dead Boys, Television. Wayne County, The Dictators and more).

Interspheres AtmospheresRecorded in Horus Sound Studio in Hannover, Germany under the direction of producer Fabio Trentini (Guano Apes, H-Blockx) frontman Hessler, guitarist Thomas Zipner, Sebastian Wagner (bass), and drummer Moritz MÜller have delivered 12 songs with such originality on their second album, Interspheres Atmospheres, that it makes it hard to place them into just one category.
They mix art rock with alternative, throw in a bit of spring reverb that floats the psychedelic guitars and creates a sound that is beyond hippie beatitude. With all their infatuation with experimentation, The Intersphere have never let themselves be distracted from the essence of a good song: fabricating melodies that anchor themselves a little deeper into your subconscious the more often you hear them.
In short, Interspheres Atmospheres is an album that sounds as if Pink Floyd and The Police got together and talked about concept albums and perfect drummers and exchanged the recipe for the perfect song at the end of the night. 180g 2LP with CD in paper sleeve.LP1

Roger Waters The Wall
Limited Edition Triple 180 Gram LP Set
Accompanies The Concert Film, The Wall, Filmed During Waters' 2010-2013 Tour
Now that Roger Waters has released his new concert film of The Wall, filmed on the former Pink Floyd singer-songwriter's recent world tour, he is putting out an accompanying soundtrack album. Between 2010 and 2013, the singer performed the 1979 double-album, home to Comfortably Numb and Another Brick in the Wall (Part 2), live more than 200 times. Like the film, the soundtrack, titled Roger Waters The Wall, contains recordings from around the world and is being released as a 3 LP Set.
Waters performed the album for approximately 4.5 million people during the course of the tour with help from an 11-person backing group. Singer Robbie Wyckoff handled the vocal parts that Floyd's David Gilmour sang on the original record, while the guitars were handled by Dave Kilminster, former SNL bandleader G.E. Smith and Snowy White, the last of whom performed on Floyd's original The Wall tour. Waters' son Harry performed Hammond organ and piano on the tour.
Frequent Radiohead collaborator Nigel Godrich, who provided music production and mixing for the film, produced the album.
The soundtrack will run longer than the original Wall album, which spanned only two LPs, as it includes two songs removed from the original release - Last Few Bricks and What Shall We Do Now? - which Floyd had added back in for live performances. This version of The Wall also includes The Ballad of Jean Charles de Menezes, which Waters incorporated into his performances of the album beginning in 2011 in tribute to a 27-year-old Brazilian man that London police killed thinking, wrongly, that he was a terrorist.
The soundtrack marks the third time The Wall has been released as a live album. In 1990, Waters released The Wall: Live in Berlin, which he'd recorded and filmed less than a year after the Berlin Wall fell with a star-studded cast, including Joni Mitchell, Van Morrison, Marianne Faithfull, the Band, SinÉad O'Connor, Cyndi Lauper and Tim Curry, among others. A decade later, Pink Floyd released Is There Anybody Out There? The Wall Live 1980-81, which contains recordings of Waters' final tour as a member of the band.
Waters told Rolling Stone that the meaning behind The Wall hadn't changed for him over the years. The context changes, but the story remains the same, he said. If people see this movie, what I hope is that that they may look at one another and go, 'You know what? We are a community, and we are many. There are a lot of us.'

Circus HeroLegendary guitarist with The Police, fiercely iconoclastic composer and songwriter Andy Summers has teamed up with singer songwriter/ multi-instrumentalist
producer Rob Giles (The Rescues) to form Circa Zero a band poised to blow people away with its unique brand of rock and roll intensity.
Taking full advantage of an immediate musical chemistry, Circa Zero recorded their debut album Circus Hero at Summers studio Bowl of Cherries in

Fresh off The Police reunion tour, Summers was intent on remaining in the rock world after years of pushing the boundaries with his solo projects. The

"If you can get people dancing as early as noon. You're good. They did." - NPR 'All Songs Considered'
"Ghost Beach are the Venn diagram of their influences-Peter Gabriel, Talking Heads, The Police, and Daft Punk
-and then some, thanks to a shitload of synths, some nostalgic 80s sonics and even the occasional reggae groove.
The sound is unmistakably their own." - VICE's Noisey
Ghost Beach, the New York-based duo of Josh Ocean and Eric "Doc" Mendelsohn, bring together the two worlds of
electronic and live performance whose sound is self-described as "Tropical Grit Pop." "We like writing pop music. We
draw a lot from the 80's, including Peter Gabriel, The Police and Talking Heads," says Ocean. "Their music incorporated
synthesizers and drum machines, had tons of energy and it had a very eclectic sound. From a songwriting standpoint, that
is where we draw our inspiration and today we attempt to bridge the gap by using a similar sonic palette in combination
with modern recording technologies including Ableton." added Mendelsohn.
On their debut full-length album Blonde, Ghost Beach once again perfects a blend of retro and futuristic soaring synth-pop, none more so evident than in the searing single "Miracle." Blonde features a mix of newly recorded material and
a handful of tracks from the bands self-released Modern Tongues EP. All previously released songs will be remixed,
re-mastered and enhanced for the forthcoming release.
Ghost Beach is not purely electronic or purely a live band, but a realization of what lies in the middle. Josh plays the jilted
lover with vocal panache as Eric's soaring synths, guitars and forever young harmonies are plucked right out of Neverland.

The Book Of Love (Soundtrack)
First Pressing Of 1000 Numbered Copies On 180 Gram Solid Red Vinyl, Black Vinyl Thereafter
The Book Of Love tells the story of an introverted architect named Henry. After the death of his wife in a car accident, he sets out to help Millie, a homeless teen, to build a raft to sail across the Atlantic.
Justin Timberlake, the multi-platinum pop star, actor and owner of handfuls of Grammys and Emmys, composed the orchestral film together with Mitchell Owens.
Justin has always been intrigued by movie scores; "I think when I was a kid I would hear movies more than I would watch them. I saw 'E.T.' at a drive-in with my father, and hearing that main theme to the movie, and how it's used when the bikes take off and they fly over the police barricade, and you hear that sweeping melody - I'll never forget that moment."
His debut composition is nothing but amazing. Justin takes you on a minimalistic reflective trip. The score is emotionally driven and shows pure honesty, which is the most supreme form in which an artist can express himself.LP 1

The ClassicI'm in the best place I've ever been in my life, declares Joan Wasser, and she's just recorded the album that proves it. The Classic, the fourth album of originals by the uniquely charismatic artist known as Joan As Police Woman, builds on the creative impetus and success of its 2011 predecessor The Deep Field, on which Joan strove to create music rooted in an intimate, elemental and uplifting brand of soul combined with her own unique serene, torch-singing temperament, with a more liberated feel than ever before. The result is a perfect reflection of her efforts to address - and solve - personal issues and so reject the singer-songwriter's traditional melancholic disposition for an unashamed lust for life. As graffiti in the artwork of her 2006 debut album Real Life read: Evolve and Be Brave.
The Classic is named after one of its ten tracks. Part is to do with the way we recorded mostly live; the way records used to get made, she explains. But I wrote 'The Classic' itself as a classic girl-group doo wop song, and the lyric refers to classic old songs like Marvin Gaye and Tammy Terrell 'You're All I Need To Get By', Stevie Wonder's ' Joy Inside My Tears' and Danny & The Juniors' 'Rock'n'Roll Is Here To Stay'. And at the end, I spell out the name of the song, like Aretha Franklin did with 'R-E-S-P-E-C-T'! The song begins 'I am home in your arms' and it's solely joyful, expressing jubilation. Melancholy is still part of my life, but it's no longer leeching energy from my life.1. Witness

Police WaterOn the heels of the recently released 7, Reality Protest, New York Citys mastermind Gary War delivers a new six song EP. Police Water sees Wars audio explorations breaking new ground in electronic prog and pop other-worlds. These new pieces reveal new experiments in song-approach, structure, sampling and tightly synced synthesization. Meanwhile War delves further into tape manipulation and post-future digital recording techniques. The overall feel of Police Water vibrates with post-apocalyptic urgency but ultimately carries the listener in through the darkness and out into light.1. Born of Light

Systems Officer is the solo guise of Armistead Burwell Smith IV, the prolific multi-instrumentalist songwriter and founding member of Pinback and Three Mile Pilot. Written and recorded between breaks in the rigorous Pinback recording and touring schedule, Underslept is five years in the making, a concise collection of thoughtful, complex pop songs.
Written, produced and performed by Smith in his home studio, Underslept features the same kind of intricate arrangements and layered vocal harmonies that have become a trademark of Pinback, with nods to the dramatic tone that marks the best Three Mile Pilot songs.
Underslept gives Smith, already one of rocks most innovative and influential bass players, the opportunity to place his often understated gifts as a singer and songwriter front and center, drawing influence from The Police, Peter Gabriel-era Genesis and The Beach Boys to craft thoughtful, progressive pop with spiky hooks and impressively high replay value.1. It's FrighteningAfter spending the better part of two years on the road (including festival stops at Lollapalooza, Glastonbury, Sasquatch, Monolith and tours with The Walkmen, Spoon, Richard Swift, The Cribs, White Denim and Tokyo Police Club) the White Rabbits hunkered down in their Brooklyn practice space to set about re-envisioning the dark pop of their critically acclaimed debut Fort Nightly, while adding new sounds and influences to achieve an original work. The result is It's Frightening, their second full-length album produced by Britt Daniel of Spoon, mixed by Mike McCarthy (Spoon, Trail Of Dead) and engineered by Nicolas Vernhes (Cat Power, Animal Collective).1.
