The RiverRanked 253/500 On Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums Of All Time
Mastered By Bob Ludwig Working Under The Supervision Of Springsteen & Engineer Toby Scott
The River is the fifth studio album, and the first double album by Bruce Springsteen.
The sources of The River go back into earlier parts of Springsteen's recording career. Independence Day, Point Blank, The Ties That Bind, Ramrod, and Sherry Darling were leftovers from his previous album, Darkness on the Edge of Town, and had been featured on the 1978 tour, as had parts of Drive All Night as a long interpolation within Backstreets. The River had premiered at the September 1979 Musicians United for Safe Energy concerts, gaining a featured spot in the subsequent documentary No Nukes.
Originally, Springsteen intended The River to be a single set entitled The Ties That Bind and released in late 1979 with 10 tracks. Springsteen added darker material after he'd written the title track. Indeed, The River became noted for its mix of the frivolous next to the solemn. This was intentional, and in contrast to Darkness, for as Springsteen said during an interview, Rock and roll has always been this joy, this certain happiness that is in its way the most beautiful thing in life. But rock is also about hardness and coldness and being alone ... I finally got to the place where I realized life had paradoxes, a lot of them, and you've got to live with them.LP1

Time And The RiverTime and The River is a brand new album from Jazz saxophonist David Sanborn. It is his first collaboration in the studio with producer and bass player Marcus Miller in over fifteen years. Through the years, the two have worked together on a number of records, winning five Grammy Awards and their albums went Gold multiple times.
In his three-and-a-half-decade career, Sanborn has released 24 albums, won six Grammy Awards and has had eight gold albums and one platinum album. He continues to be one of the most highly active musicians of his genre. Though Sanborn has worked in many genres, his solo recordings typically blend jazz with instrumental pop and R&B. He released his first solo album Taking Off in 1975 and has worked extensively as a session musician, notably on David Bowie's Young Americans (1975).
Time and The River is a groove oriented jazz album, with funky beats and beautiful ballads where Sanborn can show the emotional side of his legendary saxophone skills. Additional credits go to Roy Assaf, Justin Mullens, Tim Vaughn, Ricky Peterson, Javier Diaz, Marcus Baylor, Larry Braggs, Randy Crawford.1. A La Verticale

UNIM-HAR-9048xThe New Basement Tapes
Lost On The RiverThe New Basement Tapes, an album project from Elvis Costello, Rhiannon Giddens (Carolina Chocolate Drops) Taylor Goldsmith (Dawes), Jim James (My Morning Jacket), Marcus Mumford (Mumford & Sons) and producer T Bone Burnett, recorded in Capitol Studios to create music for two-dozen recently discovered lyrics written by Bob Dylan in 1967 during the period that generated the recording of the legendary Basement Tapes.
The album will be released this year by Electromagnetic Recordings/Harvest Records (Capitol Music Group), and will be accompanied by a Showtime documentary titled, Lost Songs: The Basement Tapes Continued, directed by Sam Jones (the Wilco documentary, I Am Trying To Break Your Heart). The film will present an exclusive and intimate look at the making of Lost On The River: The New Basement Tapes set against the important and historical cultural backdrop of Bob Dylan's original Basement Tapes.
Bob Dylan's original Basement Tapes - recorded by Dylan in 1967 with musicians who would later achieve their own fame as The Band - have fascinated and enticed successive generations of musicians, fans and cultural critics for nearly five decades. This collective recorded more than a hundred songs in
the basement of a small house in upstate New York that summer and fall, including dozens of newly-written Bob Dylan future classics such as, "I Shall Be Released," "The Mighty Quinn," "This Wheel's On Fire," "You Ain't Going Nowhere" and "Tears Of Rage."
Lost On The River: The New Basement Tapes celebrates the discovery of new Bob Dylan lyrics from that noted 1967 period and marks a unique creative opportunity for Burnett, Costello, Giddens, Goldsmith, James and Mumford, who are bringing them to life nearly 50 years later. For Burnett, whom Dylan
has entrusted with this endeavor, it was imperative to provide an environment in which these artists could thrive. "Great music is best created when a community of artists gets together for the common good. There is a deep well of generosity and support in the room at all times, and that reflects the tremendous generosity shown by Bob in sharing these lyrics with us."1. Down On The Bottom

The River & The ThreadI went back to where I was born, and these songs started arriving in me, says Rosanne Cash. All these things happened that made me feel a deeper connection to the South than I ever had. We started finding these great stories, and the melodies that went with those experiences.
With The River and the Thread, Cash has added the next chapter to a remarkable period of creativity. Her last two albums, Black Cadillac (2006) and The List (2009), were both nominated for Grammy Awards; The List-an exploration of essential songs as selected and given to Rosanne by her father, Johnny Cash-was also named Album of the Year by the Americana Music Association. In addition, her best-selling 2010 memoir, Composed, was described by the Chicago Tribune as one of the best accounts of an American life you will likely ever read.
Cash, who has charted 21 Top 40 country singles, including 11 Number Ones, wrote all of the new album's songs with her longtime collaborator (and husband) John Leventhal, who also served as producer, arranger, and guitarist. Featuring a long list of guests-from young guns like John Paul White (The Civil Wars) and Derek Trucks to such legends as John Prine and Tony Joe White-The River and the Thread is a kaleidoscopic examination of the geographic, emotional, and historic landscape of the American South. The album's unique sound, which draws from country, blues, gospel, and rock, reflects the soulful mix of music that traces its history to the region.
Rosanne Cash acknowledges that, even with fifteen albums and four books behind her, it was difficult to start writing songs again after spending several years immersed in the masterful compositions featured on The List. You cannot keep that in your mind, except as an inspiration, a standard to aspire to, she says. To say, 'I'm going to write a song as great as Take These Chains'-you're not! So the only way to not get dismantled by that is to stay connected to your own muse, and immerse yourself completely in what you're doing so it can be as rich and authentic as it can possibly be. That's all you can hope for.
With The River and the Thread, she has risen to that challenge-and emerged with a beautiful and haunting album, one of the finest works in an extraordinary career.1. A Feather's Not A Bird

The 15th Studio Album By The Famed British Band

Album Produced By David Gilmour, Phil Manzanera, Youth, Andy Jackson
The Endless River has as its starting point the music that came from the 1993 Division Bell sessions, when David Gilmour, Rick Wright and Nick Mason played freely together at Britannia Row and Astoria studios. This was the first time they had done so since the 'Wish You Were Here' sessions in the seventies. Those sessions resulted in The Division Bell, the band's last studio album.
In 2013 David Gilmour and Nick Mason revisited the music from those sessions and decided that the tracks should be made available as part of the Pink Floyd repertoire. It would be the last time the three of them would be heard together. The band have spent the last year recording and upgrading the music, using the advantages of modern studio technology to create The Endless River.
The Endless River is a tribute to Rick Wright, whose keyboards are at the heart of the Pink Floyd sound. It is a mainly instrumental album with one song, 'Louder Than Words', (with new lyrics by Polly Samson), arranged across four sides and produced by David Gilmour, Phil Manzanera, Youth and Andy Jackson.
David Gilmour said:
'''The Endless River' has as its starting point the music that came from the 1993 Division Bell sessions. We listened to over 20 hours of the three of us playing together and selected the music we wanted to work on for the new album. Over the last year we've added new parts, re-recorded others and generally harnessed studio technology to make a 21st century Pink Floyd album. With Rick gone, and with him the chance of ever doing it again, it feels right that these revisited and reworked tracks should be made available as part of our repertoire.''
Nick Mason said:
'''The Endless River' is a tribute to Rick. I think this record is a good way of recognizing a lot of what he does and how his playing was at the heart of the Pink Floyd sound. Listening back to the sessions, it really brought home to me what a special player he was.''LP 1

Down The River Of Golden DreamsOkkervil River's Down the River of Golden Dreams takes the band's hallmarks - lush, eclectic orchestration that evokes chamber pop and soul, lapel-gripping emotional urgency, and the lyrical, direct songwriting of frontman Will Sheff - and expands and elevates them in service of a stunningly ambitious set of new songs.
If last year's Don't Fall in Love with Everyone You See was the middle of the darkest night of the year, Down the River of Golden Dreams is the earliest light of a morning that could either bring the first breeze of spring or a battalion of tornadoes. On it the band stretches their wings, they shake off the fear and trepidation of the last record and try to look life in the face, emboldened by distorted blasts of Wurlitzer, guttural stabs of Hammond organ, urbane strings, and jaunty horns that could be the work of a shitfaced Canadian Brass. Down the River of Golden Dreams combines with Okkervil's trademark melancholy a sense of drama and play at which the last album only hinted. It oozes the band's signature string-destroying folk-rock attack and umbilical chamber-pop swoon, but it also echoes the venomous cabaret of Jacques Brel, the off-kilter swagger of the Faces and Bob Dylan's Blonde On Blonde, and the dusky balladry of Nick Cave. In addition, it displays a new confidence in frontman Will Sheff, whose concise, literary lyrics and emotionally direct delivery are rapidly distinguishing him as one of rock music's best new songwriters.Down the River of Golden Dreams

Going Down To The River (Pre-Order)It's just not your typical Music City Story.... A frequent homeless, 62 year old singer-songwriter guitarist gets discovered at a Nashville food pantry by a Swedish country music star, who helps him from the streets to superstardom in a country best known for Abba's Dancing Queen and the likes.Doug Seegers' debut solo album entitled Going Down to the River on Rounder Records is raw, rootsy and emotionally charged. A brilliant 62-year-old singer who struggled with homelessness for years, Seegers found acclaim when Swedish music star Jill Johnson discovered him in a Nashville food pantry. The two subsequently recorded a duet that climbed to the top of the music charts in Sweden.

RiverRiver was a looser and rootsier affair than Terry Reid's first records, taken from a sprawl of sessions in London and California that generated enough material for several albums. The very looseness that gives the effort some charm is the same quality, however, that keeps it from being a major work. The songs mostly sound unfinished, as if they're friendly jams in which Reid and the musicians (including, most notably, David Lindley on half the album and percussionist Willie Bobo on the title track) are working out some song ideas or twisting around some riffs. It often brings to mind those parts of songs where the likes of Van Morrison, Tim Buckley, or Robert Plant sing-scat improvised-sounding vocal passages. The difference is that, for the most part, those singers used such sections to embellish solid songs. On River, the quasi-stream-of-consciousness vocal ramblings are the songs. The first four of the seven songs are very much in a funky, laid-back blues-rock groove, prominently featuring Lindley on steel, slide, and electric guitars. Reid, and the album itself, really begin to find more of an individual voice on 'River,' where beguiling Latin-Brazilian elements are introduced in the guitar, melody, and rhythm. The final two cuts, 'Dream' and 'Milestones,' back Reid's vocals only with acoustic guitar, and have a romantic melancholy that likewise makes them highlights of this highly personal but uneven record.1. Mad RiverBy far the most ominous-sounding of the Bay Areas 1960s psychedelic bands, the music of Berkeleys Mad River comes across like a spiraling, acid-spiked descent into hell. With a raw, garagey style marked by Lawrence Hammonds quavering vocals and the interlocking exchanges of guitarists David Robinson and Rick Bockner, Mad Rivers sound conjures a darker, more menacing version of Quicksilver Messenger Service or early Country Joe and The Fish. No wonder the quintets self-titled 1968 debut has long been at the top of many collectors want lists. Mad Rivers tabs of tortured soulcuts like the lysergic opening rush of Merciful Monks, the lengthy, labyrinthine The War Goes On, and the truly demented Amphetamine Gazelleadd up to one cathartic ride, a ride that psych-heads will be tripping all over themselves to take again and again. Green RiverIf anything, CCR's third album Green River represents the full flower of their classic sound initially essayed on its predecessor, Bayou Country. One of the differences between the two albums is that Green River is tighter, with none of the five-minute-plus jams that filled out both their debut and Bayou Country, but the true key to its success is a peak in John Fogerty's creativity. Although CCR had at least one cover on each album, they relied on Fogerty to crank out new material every month. He was writing so frequently that the craft became second-nature and he laid his emotions and fears bare, perhaps unintentionally. Perhaps that's why Green River has fear, anger, dread, and weariness creeping on the edges of gleeful music. This was a band that played rock & roll so joyously that they masked the, well, sinister undercurrents in Fogerty's songs. Bad Moon Rising has the famous line Hope you've got your things together/Hope you're quite prepared to die, but that was only the most obvious indication of Fogerty's gloom. Consider all the other dark touches: the Sinister purpose knocking at your door; the chaos of Commotion; the threat of death in Tombstone Shadow; you only return to the idyllic Green River once you get lost and realize the world is smolderin'. Even the ballads have a strong melancholy undercurrent, highlighted by Lodi, where Fogerty imagines himself stuck playing in dead-end towns for the rest of his life. Not the typical thoughts of a newly famous rock & roller, but certainly an indication of Fogerty's inner tumult. For all its darkness, Green River is ultimately welcoming music, since the band rocks hard and bright and the melancholy feels comforting, not alienating.

- Wall Street Journal
"the band's ambitious folk pop instrumentals, and embellished with frontman Alex Hwang's dulcet, Ben Gibbard-like tones,
is a sense of possibility" - MTV World
In the course of several months, Run River North went from playing a handful of hometown shows in Los Angeles to
performing to an audience of millions on late-night show Jimmy Kimmel Live! It was an explosive trajectory for the sextet,
whose uplifting anthems march to the beat of drums, jangling guitars and a rapturous string section. The rapid ascent from
obscurity launched a new chapter for the band (then called Monsters Calling Home), whose upcoming full-length self-titled
debut ventures further into effervescent rock anchored with a down-home aesthetic.
The band recorded their self-titled debut with producer Phil Ek (Fleet Foxes, Built to Spill, Band of Horses). The songs ebb
and flow with optimism, traversing emotional and musical landscapes woven into the strings duo of Daniel Chae and
Jennifer Rim, alongside the galloping rhythm section of bassist Joe Chun, keyboardist Sally Kang and drummer John
Chong. Together, their voices coalesce as one, a chorus calling out with a gentle urgency. The music of Run River North
explores the ever-shifting search for self, from the energetic indie-rock interludes to the lonesome guitar strums, always
asking the question: Is home a place or is it the people in your life? "We're not a posh, polished pop sound," says Alex

Wind River SoundtrackLakeshore Records is set to release WIND RIVER - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack on vinyl. The album features the original score by Nick Cave & Warren Ellis (HELL OR HIGH WATER, LAWLESS).
WIND RIVER is a chilling thriller that follows a rookie FBI agent (Elizabeth Olsen) who teams up with a local game tracker with deep community ties and a haunted past (Jeremy Renner) to investigate the murder of a local girl on a remote Native American Reservation in the hopes of solving her mysterious death. Written and directed by Taylor Sheridan, WIND RIVER also stars Gil Birmingham, Jon Bernthal, Julia Jones, Kelsey Asbille, and James Jordan.
The soundtrack to the beautiful Wind River was first and foremost the incessant wind or the grieving silence of the snow, said the composers, Nick Cave & Warren Ellis. Amid those elemental forces we made a kind of ghost score where voices whisper and choirs rise up and die away and electronics throb and pulse.
They added, It was a huge pleasure to work with Taylor Sheridan as he seemed to have a unique understanding of the power of music, that it could become the second-voice in the film.

North America has two Red Rivers, North and South. Red River South has been home to many peoples; it once was the border between the US and colonial Spain, and today forms part of the border between the rival states of Texas and Oklahoma.
Red River North forms in a confluence of rivers in North Dakota and Minnesota, but its history is Canada's. The Red River North's early settlers were the MÉtis, whose ancestry was French and aboriginal Canadian. The MÉtis in 1869 began an uprising known as the Red River Rebellion, which challenged the Canadian government, eventually leading to the formation of the province of Manitoba.
SOLID PERFECT-SURFACE COPPER (PSC) CONDUCTORS: Perfect-Surface Copper has an astonishingly smooth and pure surface. Proprietary metal-processing technology protects the wire's surface at every stage of drawing and fabrication. When high-purity low-oxide copper is kept as soft, pure and smooth as possible, it becomes a wonderfully low-distortion conductor. For over 30 years AudioQuest has pioneered the use of superior metals; yet even we were surprised by this huge leap in performance. PSC clearly outperforms previous AQ metals that cost over ten times as much. Electrical and magnetic interaction between strands in a conventional cable is the greatest source of distortion, often causing a somewhat dirty, harsh sound. Solid conductors are fundamental toward achieving Red River's very clean sound.
NITROGEN-INJECTED HARD-CELL FOAM INSULATION: Nitrogen-Injected Hard-Cell Foam insulation is used exclusively in most of AudioQuest's video and digital audio cables. Similar to Foamed-PE, it is nitrogen-injected to create air pockets. 'Hard' foam is used because the stiffness of the material allows the conductors in the cable to maintain the same relationship with each other along the full length of the cable, thus ensuring that the characteristic impedance of the cable is consistent.
METAL-LAYER NOISE-DISSIPATION SYSTEM (NDS): 100% shield coverage is easy. Preventing captured RF Interference from modulating the equipment's ground reference requires AQ's Noise-Dissipation System. Noise-Dissipation System prevents a significant amount of RFI from reaching the equipment's ground plane.
TRIPLE-BALANCED GEOMETRY: The three conductors in "Triple-Balanced" Mackenzie cables ensure that whether prepared with RCA or XLR plugs, the positive and negative signals have equally low-distortion conducting paths. The 100% coverage shield is never used as an inferior conductor.
COLD-WELDED, GOLD-PLATED TERMINATIONS: This plug design allows for a connection devoid of solder, which is a common source of distortion. Because the ground shells are stamped instead of machined, the metal can be chosen for low distortion instead of machinability.$109.00Analog-Audio Interconnect Cable (Pair) - Multiple Lengths Available Buy Now
'Til Your River Runs DryEric Burdon has completed his most personal album to date, titled 'Til Your River Runs Dry. A member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and hailed by Rolling Stone as one of the "100 Greatest Voices of All Time," Burdon has long forged new ground while maintaining a commanding presence in the music marketplace as front man of The Animals, with War at its inception and simply as Eric Burdon. In 2012, Eric's influence is enjoying resurgence with both new artists and superstars.
The album was produced by Burdon and Tony Braunagel and recorded in New Orleans in 2010 and 2011 in California at Playback Studios in Santa Barbara and at Ultratone Recording in Studio City where Eric recorded his last two albums, My Secret Life and Soul of a Man. The new album was mixed by Ed Cherney and mastered by Doug Sax and Eric Boulanger at The Mastering Lab in Ojai, California.
Eric discusses the album: When I started out with the Animals I never dreamed that I would grow old, much less be singing on stage at the age of 70," said Eric. "There I was, in my twenties, singing "When I was Young," as if I was already an old man. Now, I can look back at a life with many ups and downs, and thankfully, I can reflect on where I am and where I've been. I'm privileged to be able to look back at the many paths and highways that I've traveled. At this point in my life, I'm very comfortable in this place where I am."1. Water
