Neil Young has reunited with Promise of the Real for his 39th solo studio effort, The Visitor.

The 10-track set marks Young's first studio recording with the band since 2015's The Monsanto Years; he subsequently collaborated with them again the following year, for the live/studio hybrid outing Earth.

The Visitor follows closely on the heels of Young's most recent release, Hitchhiker, which arrived in September and exhumed a collection of long-vaulted performances from the '70s. Young alluded to the new album's arrival while promoting Hitchhiker, saying, Some have noted after hearing this that this recording may be a high-water mark for me heard to match. Yet here we are, 40 years later, and the visitor will arrive soon with his own ideas.

Originally released in 1973 on Polar Records, Ring Ring is the debut album from the Swedish pop group ABBA. The album wasn't released worldwide initially but it was a big hit in the territories that it was released in, notably topping the charts in Belgium. The first song People Need Love was recorded in the spring of 1972, but it was only after the title track Ring Ring became a hit, that the four members decided to go on working together as a permanent group. Ring Ring (1973) is being released on LP as part of Universal's Back To Black vinyl campaign which also includes Waterloo (1974) ABBA (1975), Arrival (1976), The Album (1977), Voulez-Vous (1979), Super Trouper (1980) and The Visitors (1981).

Ike Quebec's timeless, big-toned tenor was a frequent visitor to Rudy Van Gelder's studio in the early sixties. But this album from December 1961 with spare, soulful backing from Grant Green, Paul Chambers and Philly Joe Jones is his masterpiece. The leaner setting works perfectly, evoking an aura of relaxation and monumentality, with the deepest blue of accents.

Beat-Club was a German music program that ran from September of 1965 through December of 1972. It was broadcast from Bremen, Germany and is notable for being the first German show to be based around popular music, featuring artists like The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Tina Turner, The Who, Black Sabbath, The Bee Gees, The Beach Boys and Kraftwerk in its seven-year run.

Rory Gallagher was one of the shows most frequent visitors performing four times in the space of just over two years. His first appearance on the program was with his band Taste in 1970 and he returned soon after with his own solo work. This 2-LP set features 12 classic versions of Rory's early solo material from three separate performances circa 1971-72. 180g double vinyl reissue from Rock Classics Records.

Gershwin: Rhapsody In Blue, An American In Paris (Speakers Corner)

This fast and furious orchestral work with piano, which begins with what must surely be the most famous clarinet glissando of modern times, was composed with the intention of presenting as many facets as possible of music from the New World in the short space of around 15 minutes. In his Rhapsody In Blue Gershwin wanted to »paint a musical kaleidoscope of America - our enormous melting pot, our typical national traits, our blues, our seething city life«. With this in mind, Leonard Bernstein made a number of recordings of the work and among the many excellent recordings that he made as a conductor or as a soloist, this present version with the Columbia Orchestra, from 1959, is especially of note. Bernstein takes on a double function as conductor and soloist and manoeuvres his way safely and surely through the highly diversified score to create a well-rounded picture filled with hefty orchestral dynamics and finely chiselled solo playing. In Gershwin's freely composed work the soloist and orchestra do not resort to bombastic shock effects or egomaniac keyboard acrobatics, and so this the work can be described as rhapsodic in the very best sense of the word.
Most fittingly, on the B side there is another freely composed work - the autobiographical sketch entitled An American In Paris. The superb New York musicians paint the impressions of a visitor to the hectic French capital city - that too is the sound of America.

    About Speakers Corner

At the beginning of the 90s, in the early days of audiophile vinyl re-releases, the situation was fairly straightforward. Companies such as DCC, Mobile Fidelity, Classic Records and, of course, Speakers Corner all maintained a mutual, unwritten ethical code: we would only use analogue tapes to manufacture records.

During the course of the present vinyl hype, many others have jumped on the bandwagon in the hope of securing a corner of the market. Very often they are not so ethical and use every imaginable source to master from: CDs, LPs, digital files, MP3s - or employed existant tools from the 80s and 90s for manufacturing.

A digital delay is gladly used when cutting a lacquer disc because tape machines with an analogue delay have become quite rare and are therefore expensive. When cutting the lacquer, the audio signal is delayed by one LP revolution against the signal, which controls the cutter head, and for this a digital delay is very often employed. Of course, the resultant sound signal is completely digital and thus only as good as this delay.

We should like to emphasise that Speakers Corner Records on principle only uses the original master tape as the basis for the entirely analogue cutting of lacquer discs. In addition, the pressing tool is newly manufactured as a matter of principle. We have one digital recording in our catalogue (Alan Parsons / Eye In The Sky"), but even in this particular case we used the analogue tapes for cutting.

We only employ existing tools for manufacturing if an improved result is not forthcoming, e.g. the title Elvis Is Back, which was mastered by Steve Hoffman and Kevin Gray, or several titles from our Philips Classics series, which in any case Willem Makkee cut from the original masters at the Emil Berliner Studios in the 90s. It goes without saying that we only used the mother and that new tools were made for our production.

To put it in a nutshell: we can ensure you that our releases are free from any kind of digital effects - excluding the exception above - and that the lacquer discs are newly cut.

    Stage Fright

    180 Gram Numbered, Limited Edition

1970 Set an Organic, Iconic Rock Landmark - In Special Textured Finish Gatefold Jacket

Record Shivers With Raw Emotions, Dark Confessionals, and Intense Singing

Half-Speed Mastered from the Original Analog Tapes: Transcendent Sound

A sharp stylistic and thematic detour away from its first two albums, the Band's Stage Fright is a compelling snapshot of a group coping with massive success and internal changes. Recorded in 1970 at the Woodstock Playhouse, the set shivers with raw emotions, dark confessionals, and intense singing. Largely devoid of the quintet's trademark all-for-one harmony vocals, Stage Fright is an utterly distinctive piece of the Band's catalog-and a historic landmark that's a necessary part of any music collection.

"When Stage Fright came about, all I was doing was feeling my way along. But, where everybody was in a huddle on both Big Pink and The Band, with Stage Fright it didn't feel like we were all connected in the same kind of way. In this period of experimentation in life, in music, in drugs, people kept wanting to stretch and reach and go somewhere and try things and, in the course of that, some real alienation can take place as well. When these things are chemically induced, you can feel an incredible shutdown of communication." -guitarist Robbie Robertson, as told to Rob Bowman

Such splintered camaraderie and personal demons appear in now-famous songs such as the title track, "The Shape I'm In," and "The W.S. Walcott Medicine Show." The music is rife with palpable tension, and as a credit to the Band's unique sound, absolutely singular. It's impossible to think of any other group playing these tunes. Robertson's balladic ode to his daughter, "All La Glory," featuring a gorgeous vocal turn from Levon Helm, provides a sunny contrast to the darker compositions.

Circumstances behind the recording sessions also reflected the mood. While the Band had intended to capture the album in one take in front of a small crowd at the theater, the town residents vetoed the idea due to concerns over being inundated by too many visitors. Consequently, the Band played to an audience of no one, sometimes with the curtains closed and other times, with them open. Todd Rundgren, who engineered the album, couldn't even see what was going on-he was sitting in a canvas prop tent that became the control room, behind the theater.

As always, Mobile Fidelity half-speed mastered this numbered limited-edition 180g LP from the original master tapes for a superior sonic experience. This analog edition of Stage Fright bursts with supreme tonal clarity and an airiness that brings the genius of Rundgren's preservation of high frequencies to complete realization. Even the fine textures of the hand drums on the stunning "Daniel and the Sacred Harp" come to light with microscopic detail. Perfectly blended, MoFi's Stage Fright takes its place as the most balanced and punchy record in the Band's oeuvre.

Stage Fright is part of Mobile Fidelity's effort to present the Band's timeless music in the highest fidelity possible.

Anthology of Interplanetary Folk Music Vol. 1: Nommos / Visiting (Out Of Stock)

Includes Detailed Artwork And Two Essays By Leon

Craig Leon's seminal synthesizer albums Nommos and Visiting are finally re-editioned in
definitive form as the Anthology of Interplanetary Folk Music Vol. 1 for RVNG Intl.'s archival
    series.

Issued respectively by John Fahey's Takoma record label in 1980 and Leon's Arbitor
private press in 1982, Nommos and Visiting were the twin brainchildren of studio wizard
Craig Leon. Leon's production was pivotal in realizing the debut recordings by Ramones,
Blondie, Richard Hell and Suicide. While those albums broke ground in new worlds of sound,
Leon's own debut album was arguably, if not literally, more alien.

In 1973 , the Brooklyn Museum hosted a comprehensive collection of sculptures by the
Dogon of the Republic of Mali, a tribe whose religion is based in reveries and recollections
of a visit from an extraterrestrial species they named Nommos. Years after experiencing the
exhibit, Leon remained fascinated by the idea of alien visitors sharing not just stories of their
home-planet, but musical traditions as well. For the classically trained Leon, a puzzle was
presented and a challenge in place: what would music sound like if handed down from an
ancient alien species? And how best to imagine it?

Upon meeting Fahey in the late 70s, Leon pitched the concept as an opportune time to
employ the latest and greatest synthesizer technology available. An avant empathist and
eternally free spirit, Fahey enthusiastically green-lighted the project for his Takoma imprint.
After a secluded week in an Austin, Texas studio with his partner, wife and collaborator
Cassell Webb, Leon returned with a collection of incorporeal melodies generated by the
Oberheim OB-X, Roland JP-4 and Arp 2600 synthesizers propelled by primitive rhythms
programmed on a prototype of Roger Linn's nascent drum-machine, the LM-1.

Issued by Fahey with zero expectation of the same radio airplay Leon accomplished
with his pop productions, Nommos now stands as an innovative example of cosmic-synth
composition that wasn't made for its time or any other. For this edition, Leon has in fact
re-animated Nommos by re-recording the exact audio signals as preserved in the album's
original studio notes. Every patch, tape-delay speed and outboard setting was transcribed
as first scored, materializing the best possible audio from an album whose masters were lost
in major label merger milieu years ago.

Additionally, the re-master of Visiting was supervised firsthand by Leon. As its title
suggests, Visiting materialized in 1982 as a conceptual continuation of Nommos. The
album is in equal measure more improvisatory and constructed than its predecessor. Both
albums were intended to be listened to as a set in the first volume of Leon's Anthology of
Interplanetary Folk Music (the title was an homage to Harry Smith's influential collection of
folk music issued two decades prior). A creative evolutionist, Leon made subtle edits and
compositional additions to both albums to enhance the connectivity and encourage infinite
    interpretation.

While reissues and bootlegs have appeared to relieve the demand for these records,
this collection will stand as the first ever version authorized by Craig Leon himself. The
vinyl edition will be housed in a 2xLP set that includes detailed artwork and two essays by
Leon. The first tells the complete story of the stargazing Dogon people and their prescient
understanding of cosmology. The second details Leon's adventure in creating the Anthology
of Interplanetary Folk Music Vol. 1, an epic story bookended on this side of history as one
    seamless synth classic.
