    Thunder And Lightning

Thunder and Lightning is the twelfth and final studio album by Irish hard rock band Thin Lizzy, originally released in 1983. Snowy White was replaced after 1981's Renegade by guitarist John Sykes, who helped to provide a heavier sound and guitar tone than Thin Lizzy had used on previous albums. However, the bulk of the songwriting (except for Cold Sweat) was completed before he joined the band. Keyboard player Darren Wharton also offered a stronger musical influence to Thin Lizzy's final studio album, co-writing many of the tracks including Some Day She Is Going to Hit Back, and the final single The Sun Goes Down. A farewell tour followed the album's release, followed by the live album Life. The group's co-founder, frontman and bass player Phil Lynott died in 1986 from drug-related causes.

    Bad Reputation

That much rock & roll excess and that little sleep--it would be enough to ruffle anyone. Thus Thin Lizzy decamped to Canada to unwind from a year of incident and illness. There they produced Bad Reputation, which sounds, if not exactly laid-back, then at least damn smooth. Phil Lynott was confident enough to loosen Lizzy's atomic boogie and open his writing to jazz and folk influences, while the band, despite shifting membership, sound tighter than ever, playing with a new delicacy and thoughtfulness. Scott Gorham emerged here as a genuinely original guitarist, Tony Visconti's production sharpens the edges, and the title track, Southbound, and Dancing in the Moonlight are among Lizzy's best. --Taylor Parkes (Amazon)

With the powerful drum entrance of Brian Downey, the opener Do Anything You Want To kicks the album into full gear. Even the heartwarming ballad My Sarah, which showcases a softer side of Lynott's writing and vocal ability, truly made this album a fan favorite for years to come. Fighting

Fighting is the fifth studio album by Irish rock band Thin Lizzy, released in 1975. After spending four albums trying to find their niche, the band finally forged an identifiable sound featuring the twin guitars of Scott Gorham and Brian Robertson. This sound draws from hard rock, folk, pop and rhythm and blues. It set the stage for the big commercial breakthrough of the follow-up album, Jailbreak. The album was also their first album to chart in the UK, hitting #60.

    Mt. St. Helen's Vietnam Band

At first blush, this album recalls Wolf Parade with the band's frayed melodic sensibilities and urgent, driven vocals in particular. Of course, Wolf Parade borrowed a few ideas from Modest Mouse, whose beginnings were indebted to the Pixies. This is the sort of musical lineage that creates the foundation for this group's debut. But dig a little deeper and strains of Queen's epic rock peer through, while exhilarating guitar work that nods towards Thin Lizzy appears in more than a few songs.

Citay's 2007 album Little Kingdom made reference to everything from Thin Lizzy and acoustic Led Zeppelin, to Popul Vuh and early Mike Oldfield. So, when the band started asking remixers to rework tracks from Little Kingdom, we were more than a little surprised. As it turns out, the world needs Citay's Remixes. Nursing Home

Nursing Home, the second album by Lets Wrestle, was recorded in Chicago with Steve Albini. With themes that include being trapped in the suburbs and dancing boys on drugs, the band show that their view of the world is the same, theyve just put on some darker sunglasses. Lets Wrestle may have lost some of their naivety lyrically, but its certainly still there.

If you ask singer Wesley Patrick Gonzalez what the record sounds like hell tell you Thin Lizzy and The Cars, which I guess to some extent is true. Though I wont bother to list other bands the record brings to mind, I will say that its heavier than its predecessor, maybe due to Albinis engineering, but the underlying melody displayed previously remains, with the few quiet songs on Nursing Home being perhaps the most poignant the band have recorded. - Dan Boleyn

    Run For Cover

Run For Cover took the heavy metal ingredients of Gary Moore's previous two albums and added a little pop refinement to the mix. Thankfully, this did not compromise the overall heaviness of the record, and Moore even achieves a successful remake of his classic ballad Empty Rooms. Calling on his many friends to help in the studio, Moore obtains fantastic vocal performances from former Deep Purple bassist/vocalist Glenn Hughes on Reach for the Sky and All Messed Up; and former Thin Lizzy leader and childhood friend Philip Lynott on the dramatic Military Man. The latter also trades vocals with Moore on the album's biggest single Out in the Fields. Written about the religious turmoil in their native Ireland, it was actually Lynott's final recorded performance before his tragic death. It also presaged the musical and lyrical Irish themes which would dominate Moore's future work.

    Never Too Loud (Awaiting Repress)

Not too many people outside of Canada and Scandinavia seemed to notice, but Toronto-based trio Danko Jones were responsible for some of the most electrifying, ass-kicking, fearsomely focused hard rock of the third millennium's first decade. That being said, after failing to attract a larger audience with two unquestionably stellar albums released through Razor & Tie, the band found itself relegated to smaller indie label Bad Taste for 2008's Never Too Loud, meaning that not even U.S. distribution was a given. Notwithstanding this problematic setback, though, Danko Jones showed they still held an ace or two in their hands by securing the services of hotshot producer Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, Velvet Revolver, Rush, etc.) to oversee Never Too Loud's sessions, and their new ally seemed to be fan enough to not attempt altering the band's sound, even while helping the group to cast a slightly wider stylistic net beyond its usual Thin Lizzy and AC/DC-fishing grounds. Among the resulting surprises was the acoustic guitar-driven nostalgia of Take Me Home and a pair of stoner rock-flavored offerings in the Fu Manchu-like, groove-oriented opener Code of the Road and the extended six-minute head nod of Forest for the Trees (Danko's longest track ever, by far), which culminated with guest vocals from Kyuss legend John Garcia. Beyond this experimental trio, though, Never Too Loud remained relatively faithful to the familiar Danko Jones sound -- albeit rarely played quite as loud as on prior releases, ironically enough. Sure, the punkish pogo-fest of Let's Get Undressed and the raging hormones of teenage fantasy Still in High School both recalled some of the band's wilder, earliest outbursts, and impertinent challenges like Your Tears, My Smile and Something Better confirmed the enduring chip on eponymous frontman Danko Jones' shoulder. But the mellower, melody-ridden King of Magazines and Ravenous definitely valued quality over quantity, and both the album's worst and best offerings paid serious dues to the band's chief influences, the closing title track collapsing under the weight of dull repetition (akin to AC/DC's least inspired latter-day songs) while first single City Streets reached for the heavens of perfection with that glorious blend of crunchy riffs and longing melodies (the very same ones that earned Thin Lizzy's Philip Lynott his angel's wings). And so, somewhere between the same ol' and brand new, the disappointing and sublime, Never Too Loud proved to be yet another enjoyable LP from Danko Jones, despite ranking just a notch below their most recent triumphs.

    Future Runs Magnetic

Limited Edition White Vinyl (1000 Pieces)

Gatefold Jacket Has Silver Foil Letter Pressed In

Drenik's sensitive vocals have faded into the background in deference to a tough, guitar heavy 70s attack not far at times
from Thin Lizzy or Blue Oyster Cult. That's immediately obvious when the first track, "Just Weight" opens on a wave of
guitar feedback before shifting to a majestic pop/rocker that doesn't overstay its welcome in about three and a half
    minutes. - American Songwriter

There aren't a lot of frills or gimmicks surrounding Battleme's second album future runs magnetic because, simply
put, the music speaks for itself. Bombastic, driving and powerful, the album is a timeless
collection of rock anthems. -The Deli

Matt Drenik's latest (and greatest) musical incarnation Battleme is hard to put in one box. He conjures up potent rock
songs dressed up with lush power chords and clean production. That super chunky rock sound along with a heavy,
heavy tone of dreaminess as in stepping into a dreamland makes me think of bands like Spacehog, Silverchair, Smashing Pumpkins, Wires On Fire and even Dream Theater. - American Pancake
