    Most Messed Up

Most Messed Up is a revealing, 12-track meditation on 20 years in music that finds the Old 97's at their raucous, boozy best. It's "a rock opera, a way-off Broadway musical about a musician's life, loves and lubrication," says music critic Bill Flanagan. Recorded in Austin and produced by Salim Nourallah, Most Messed Up also features guest appearances by Tommy Stinson (The Replacements, Guns N' Roses) and Jon Rauhouse (Neko Case) on lap-steel.

Titles like "Wasted," "Intervention," "Wheels Off," "Let's Get Drunk & Get It On," and "Most Messed Up" hint at the kind of narrators frontman Rhett Miller likes to inhabit - men who possess an appetite for indulgence and won't let a few bad decisions get in the way of a good story. The magic in Miller's songwriting lies in the depth that he lends his characters. Upon closer inspection, the hard partying and endless pursuit of a good time often reveals itself to be a Band-Aid covering up deeper wounds and emotional scars. "There's a lot of darkness hidden in this record," Miller explains.

    Anything Could Happen

When The Replacements ended their 33-show reunion tour in June 2015, founding bassist Tommy Stinson walked away with his head held high. Armed with a pocketful of new songs and a clean slate, he holed up in his home studio in Hudson, NY and played solo tour dates with a group of A+ players/friends backing him, including Luther Dickinson, Frank Ferrer, Cat Popper, Steve Selvidge, and Joe "The Kid" Sirois. They had more fun than humans should be allowed to have, and over the next year and a half they pieced together a brand new record. A BAND record.

Never one to hog the spotlight, the only logical thing to do at this point was to reanimate 'Bash & Pop', the band he started immediately following The Replacements first split in 1991. Fat Possum Records quickly signed the band and will be releasing its unknowingly-long-awaited sophomore album, Anything Could Happen.

All Shook Down is the seventh and final studio album by the band The Replacements, released in 1990. The band, hailing from Minneapolis, started out in 1979, and are considered pioneers of Alternative Rock, influencing a variety of acts along the way. Their influences ranged from The Rolling Stones, The Faces, Slade, Lou Reed and The Beatles to Punk rock bands such as The Ramones, Johnny Thunders, Dead Boys and The Clash.

At the time All Shook Down was released, the band consisted of guitarist and vocalist Paul Westerberg, bass guitarist Tommy Stinson and drummer Chris Mars, added by lead guitarist Slim Dunlap. This album was originally intended to be Westerberg's solo artist debut. As a result, numerous session and side musicians including The Velvet Underground's John Cale performed on All Shook Down's
13 songs, supplemented by the three other band members.

Merry Go Round was the band's most successful Modern Rock Tracks single, reaching #1 for four non-consecutive weeks. The album also received a nomination for a Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Album.

    Delayed Reaction

Soul Asylum is back and newly signed with 429 Records which will release their first album in six years, Delayed Reaction. This time around, the veteran band is energized with a recalibrated lineup that includes founders Dave Pirner and Dan Murphy alongside ex-Replacements, ex-Guns N' Roses bassist Tommy Stinson (who replaced original member Karl Mueller who passed away in 2006) and former Prince drummer Michael Bland.

Delayed Reaction, which was produced by the band and overseen by John Fields, bristles with the tightly wound, slightly ragged vibe that characterized the band when they emerged straight out of Minneapolis. The recording took place in various locations, beginning in Los Angeles and then relocating to New Orleans and Minneapolis and back to LA, each town giving the tracks a unique backdrop of local culture vibe.

Originally formed in 1983 in Minneapolis, MN, Soul Asylum has maintained their reputation for honest, heartfelt rock from their beginnings on scrappy local label Twin Tone (which concurrently nurtured the careers of seminal rockers the Replacements), through their commercially successful days on A&M and Columbia Records (where they scored a Grammy for the monster hit single "Runaway Train"). The band has persevered through the good times of garnering several platinum albums and accolades including a performance for the Presidential inauguration of Bill Clinton to enduring the personal tragedy of losing Karl Mueller to cancer six years ago.

Says Pirner on Delayed Reaction's recording process: "It feels like approaching it as an album and a thing that has a sequence, and a thing that is a piece of work in itself is almost an archaic process. Honestly, it's more organic. Even though you're using some of this newer technology, the fact that you're doing it yourself is what made it take so long and the process unique, this time.
