Top Of The World'
Top Of The WorldSlightly Stoopid's Top of the World continues the onward and upward trend within the band members' musicianship, while bringing the purity and energy of their live shows into the studio for recording sessions. Top of the World is most comparatively aligned with Slightly Stoopid's 2005 studio release of Closer to the Sun, except now the addition and solidification of both trumpet and saxophone are more profound. This is certainly not a step backwards, if anything, Slightly Stoopid enhanced their sound ten fold from their most successful album of all time.
Top of the World contains everything a music enthusiast will adore long after the first spin of the album. Whether the listener adores the hip-hop beats of the album's title track, the uplifting horns on "Don't Stop", the pure roots-reggae style of "Work", or the soulful cover of Bruce Springsteen's "I'm On Fire," Top of the World has all the necessary qualities of an instant classic.
To take the album to another level, Slightly Stoopid invited a whole host of musical studs in their own right with Barrington Levy on "Ur Love", "Ska Diddy" featuring Angelo Moore of Fishbone, "Just Thinkin" featuring Chali 2na, "Mona June" featuring Angela Hunte, "Hiphoppablues" with G. Love, and the legendary Jamaican singer and songwriter Don Carlos on "Marijuana".
The band name Slightly Stoopid doesn't initially give off the sense of soothing melodies, full-brained lyricism and heartfelt tracks from beginning to end, but that is exactly what Top of the World portrays to the listener. Slightly Stoopid's seventh studio album is the band's most complete and all encompassing sound ever tracked, and they recorded it organically in their own studio on their own time.
If you are looking for a 21-track album that will keep the sense of feel good summer vibes alive long into the fall and winter seasons, then Top of the World is the ideal remedy to bring the sound of Ocean Beach, California right to your side. -- Reviewed By: Kris Siuta1. Top Of The World

Top Ten Hits Of The End Of The WorldIt's 2012, and Prince Rama has made the Top Ten Hits of the End of the World. Conceived as a pseudo-compilation album, the Brooklyn duo invented ten different pop bands that died during the apocalypse, channeling the ghosts of each one to perform the various songs. Spanning genres and stylistic eras from across the globe, Top Ten Hits explores pop music's relationship to memory, nostalgia, and the spirit world.
Incorporating influences as disparate as cosmic disco, motorcycle rock, new-wave, grunge, tribal goth, Arabic pop, and ghost-modern glam, Prince Rama filters each sound through the destroyed lens of a post-apocalyptic future looking back at the wonders of its sonic past. Tracking began with Tim Koh in Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti's studio and was then completed and mixed with producer Scott Colburn (Animal Collective, Sun City Girls, Arcade Fire) at Gravelvoice in Seattle.
Top Ten Hits of the End of the World isn't just a pop album, it's a retrospective requiem of all pop albums ever made. Nothing like this has ever been attempted by a single band, and its residual echoes will continue to haunt this world and the next. LP comes with digital download card.1. Blade Of Austerity

Berry Is On Top (Awaiting Repress)Limited Anniversary Edition
Chuck Berry is truly an American original. There will never be another Chuck Berry nor anyone in the music industry who could influence generations upon generations of aspiring rock 'n rollers like Chuck has.
Celebrating six decades in the music business, this East St. Louis native initially captivated millions of kids in the fifties with his first
recordings like Maybellene and Roll Over Beethoven. He drove the rockers mad with his famous guitar licks, poetic lyrics and dynamic
presence on the stage.
Introduced to Chess Records by fellow blues rocker Muddy Waters, Chuck Berry hit a goldmine immediately with his arsenal of tunes that he presented to Phil and Leonard Chess. A lot of these great songs became top charting singles which culminated in his masterwork third album Berry Is On Top.
Kicking things off with one of his finest smash hits Almost Grown, Chuck Berry roars through a treasure trove of 11 more champions which made this one of the most important and emulated albums of all time. The album features classic gems like his monumental hits of all time Johnny B. Goode and Roll Over Beethoven, plus more powerhouses like Carol, Maybellene, Sweet Little Rock & Roller, Little Queenie, Around and Around and Jo Jo Gunne. Noted for his stellar guitar work, pretty much introducing the turnaround riff to a whole new generation
of guitar players, Berry Is On Top was truly a primer for a ton of rock and blues artists for years like Elvis Presley, Rod Stewart, The Rolling
Stones, The Beach Boys, The Beatles, Johnny Winter, The Animals and The Yardbirds.
Chuck Berry was more than a rock 'n roll genius. He was a natural poet. He could rhyme. He could compose lyrically two and three minute musical stories about the everyday man and woman, about the struggles of being a teenager, about romance, about cars, about
faraway places, about dancing, and most notably about rock 'n rollin'.
His unconventional approach to music was unlike that of anyone before him. He opened the doors for millions of music fans around the world to enjoy rock and blues, making him one of the first pioneers of the popular recording business that we all enjoy to this day.
Friday Music is no stranger to the music of the legendary Chuck Berry and the Chess Records' arsenal of fine recordings. That is why we are so very proud to announce another fine installment in The Chuck Berry/Friday Music 180 Gram Audiophile Vinyl Series with his legendary masterpiece Berry Is On Top - The Anniversary Edition.
Mastered impeccably by Joe Reagoso (Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker, Chuck Berry) for the first time on audiophile vinyl from the Chess monophonic tapes, Chuck Berry's Berry Is On Top will truly become one of the most important and historical 180 Gram Audiophile Vinyl titles in quite some time.
To celebrate Chuck Berry's six decades in the music business, we further enhance this limited anniversary edition with a stunning
gatefold cover featuring the original artwork elements as well as two classic inside gatefold photos of the man who started rock and roll.

Prismic TopsIt's been a startling couple of years for instrumental beats of all persuasions: the likes of LA's Brainfeeder crew and Glasgow's LuckyMe collective have developed styles with a scope far beyond creating merely 'instrumental Hip Hop'. Amongst all the hype and promotion, one of the music's reclusive architects seems to have
been mysteriously overlooked.
But Dimlite's production was astounding from the start. His EPs of 2003 and debut album Runbox Weathers two years later revealed a Swiss producer beholden to no one, possessing a style as nuanced as his friend Prefuse 73 and yet enriched by a careworn romanticism and quirkiness that rewarded repeat listens and has,
over time, made him something of a 'producer's producer'.
Another album, singles, remixes and side-projects followed, taking Dimlite's sound further left, further into a singular world where soul music, latin rhythms, Hip Hop and more are reconstituted into dreamy, lovelorn beat constructions. And so he takes his place on Now-Again, home to a cadre of similarly singular spirits such as The Heliocentrics and The Whitefield Brothers, each bent on refracting music history through their own unique lenses.
And while copycat producers abound, Dimlite's uniqueness is only throw into sharper relief. It's clear the moment he sings, such as on EP highlight Elbow Flood or the astonishing (and miniature) closer, Can't Get Used To Those. It's apparent in
every one of his strangely abrupt changes. It's even in his song titles. Perhaps Prismic Tops will be the record that sparks a critical reappraisal of this gifted producer's work. And if not, Now-Again Records is still proud to present this, the latest in a line of remarkable releases from a quiet pioneer.1. Kalimba Deathswamp / Kurt Feelings

Goodbye Cruel World
Elvis Costello Goodbye Cruel World on Numbered Limited Edition 180g LP from Mobile Fidelity
1984 Album Produced by Top Production Team of Clive Langer and Alan Winstanley: Several Songs Enhanced With Top-Flight Horn Arrangements
Mastered from the Original Master Tapes: Mobile Fidelity 180g LP is the Sonically Definitive Version
Costello and the Attractions Survive Dreadful 80s With Songs Concerning Loss, Identity, and Matters of the Heart
Part of Mobile Fidelity's Elvis Costello Reissue Series: Singer-Songwriter's First Eleven Studio Albums Available on Sumptuously Sounding 180g LP
Elvis Costello wasn't in a happy place when he began writing Goodbye Cruel World. His marriage collapsed between the record's start and finish. He was also dealing with what he deems the dreadful 80s-a period in which the importance of videos trumped musical merit, the government in his native England engaged in controversial conflicts, and nuclear threats hovered over daily life like a black cloud. What possible good came out of the age? A smart batch of songs that stands up to many of the singer-songwriter's better-known works and an underrated record that now sounds better than ever.
Mastered from the original master tapes and pressed on 180g LP at RTI, this collectable edition of Goodbye Cruel World joins Mobile Fidelity's acclaimed Costello reissues series in presenting the icon's most vital records in rich, dynamic, three-dimensional analog sound. Akin to many albums from the era, Goodbye Cruel World was hampered by bright, slick textures on the original pressings and digital counterparts. Here, Costello's fare is revealed to possess a warmer, more organic and intimate character. Costello's voice, as well as his band's nimble rhythms and Steve Nieve's R&B-spiked piano, occupy their own spaces amidst a wide, unconstrained soundstage.
The improvements rendered by this numbered, limited-edition LP bring significantly new perspective to Costello's mordantly witty songs addressing everything from stark romantic loss to erotic desire. Produced by the hit-making team of Clive Langer and Alan Winstanley, Goodbye Cruel World reflects the polish of the day in places but now reveals a deeper soulfulness, grit, and honesty. Such aspects particularly come to fore on multiple tunes featuring saxophonists Gary Barnacle, trombonist Jim Paterson, and percussionist Luis Jardim-the very first guests ever welcomed on an Attractions album.
With added instrumental assistance, Costello and Co. traverse styles ranging from rambunctious new-wave rock (The Deportees Club) to frisky New Orleans-derived blues (Sour Milk Cow Blues) to suave, jazzy pop (The Only Flame In Town). In the closing Peace In Our Time, a sobering albeit optimistic song whose verses still apply to contemporary times, Costello crafts the finale to a socio-politically conscious trilogy that began with Shipbuilding and Pills and Soap. It alone is the worth the price of admission to a record that's long deserved a better reputation and, with Mobile Fidelity's reissue, finally gets its just desserts.

Ten Years After was founded in 1966 by keyboardist Chick Churchill, drummer Ric Lee, guitarist Alvin Lee and bassist Leo Lyons. The band experimented with a psychedelic sound during the late sixties through the early seventies along with their career making performance at Woodstock which introduced themselves to music fans in America.
During that era, Ten Years After charted several albums in the United States such as "Watt," "Cricklewood Green" and "A Space in Time." They also managed to chart two Top Forty singles "Love Like a Man" and "I'd Love to Change the World."

The Very Special World of Lee HazlewoodLee Hazlewood was a late bloomer. Following a meandering career as a disc jockey, producer, songwriter, label executive and solo artist, Hazlewood hit the jackpot at the ripe age of 37 with "These Boots Are Made For Walkin'," the song Nancy Sinatra took to the top of the charts on both sides of the Atlantic. Its success convinced MGM Records that Hazlewood was a bankable star, and they signed him as an artist in his own right the same year. But as a self-described "non-singer" whose cult 1963 debut, Trouble Is A Lonesome Town, was little more than a happy accident, they'd perhaps gotten the wrong end of the stick where Lee was concerned.
In three years on the label, Hazlewood delivered three albums and sundry odds and ends, beginning with 1966 album The Very Special World Of Lee Hazlewood. The LP found Hazlewood gunning-in as much as he ever did-for commercial success, blending country, pop, novelty, mariachi, and lounge music into something unusually of-the-moment.
Lushly orchestrated and-like the album that preceded it-half-sung, half-spoken in a way that Hazlewood made all his own, the album collected solo versions of songs made famous by Sinatra and others ("Sand," "Boots," "So Long Babe," "Summer Wine"-included as a bonus duet with Suzi Jane Hokom) alongside some of his career-best solo compositions, among them the Morricone-like opener, "For One Moment." It's a record of extremes: "When A Fool Loves A Fool" is as light and throwaway as anything he ever laid down, while the wistful "My Autumn's Done Come" (sample lyric: "Let those I-don't-care days come in, I'm tired of holding my stomach in") is as raw and honest.1. Cow / Chill Out, World! (Awaiting Repress)Being pioneers with a new album created in no more than 6 months, THE ORB are bound to be exposed to fan expectations running high, while quizzical questions about little fluffy clouds and the good old times take over. It's especially jarring as the duo of accomplished soundsmiths Alex Paterson and Thomas Fehlmann has become known for its genre-bending curiosity and surprising sonic detours, exploring experimental soundscapes as well as club-friendly beats. The funny thing is, though, that whatever the context, you know a track from THE ORB when you hear it. Case in point: COW / CHILL OUT, WORLD!, their latest full-length offering - a masterful ambient album that branches out in many directions, but unmistakably sounds like THE ORB in either ear (and probably to your third ear, too).
The idea was simply to make an ambient album, Dr Paterson explains, we didn't look back and study earlier recordings, but wanted a more spontaneous approach, a focus on THE ORB today, our vibe in 2016. In contrast to their much-acclaimed previous full-length MOONBUILDING 2703 - which took years to prepare and finetune -, the new album was produced over the course of only five sessions in six months, directly following the like-minded ALPINE EP: it got so spontaneous that a track like 9 ELMS OVER RIVER ENO (CHANNEL 9) consisted only of material collected at North Carolina's Moogfest in May - second-hand records from local stores, field recordings, live samples from gigs that we liked, and of course an excursion to the Eno River, which actually exists. This geographic intimacy and the spontaneity are among the top reasons why we love this album so much.
Herr Fehlmann sees the duo's relentless gigging schedule as a formative influence on the new album: the countless performances we've played in the last years - probably up to 300 - have brought us closer as a musical unit. The spice of our concerts is improvisation - a fertile process that we've brought to the studio, where we operate with very simple rules of engagement (in this case ambient) and go wherever the flow takes us. It's an approach that one might expect from traditional acoustic instrumentation, not necessarily an electronic set-up, but for THE ORB it works wonders: we're quite happy and also a little bit proud that we've reached this level of unscripted levity with purely electronic means. We're finessing ourselves, sort of, always looking for the next sonic surprise that leaves us rubbing our eyes about how the heck we got there.
Once more, THE ORB's trademark playfulness is on full display on COW / CHILL OUT, WORLD!, and it doesn't limit itself to the multi-layered sampling and psychedelic sound composites that the duo has become known for - you'll find it in the album title as well. The simple invitation (or order?) to chill out (relax? Calm the eff down?) is converted into an acronym - and the cow that you might expect to find on a Pink Floyd cover or with iconic UK chill-out/dance pranksters The KLF. It's not so much an obscure trope coming full circle as a perfect example for THE ORB's multitimbral approach to sound and meaning - a compelling, immersive journey to diverse places and impressions. Each track title is a conceptual work in its own right, playing with multiple references, some of which remain highly personal and mysterious. But the greatest feat of THE ORB's latest outing might just be how all this semantic doodling never gets in the way of the actual listening, at all times directly relating the artists' sonic vitality and cheerful nosiness. Chill out world! and treat yourself to an outstanding new ambient experience from THE ORB.1. First, Consider The Lilies

A pair of best friends who have found their sound on their own terms after two years of near relentless touring that has taken them to the other side of the world and back. Racing through 80's and 90's influenced indie rock, Hairball continues on the theme of their last EP and single releases, only letting up to take sharp turns into hazy garage-punk and feedback-laden grunge.1. Sound Machine GrooveRecorded by folklorist David Evans in 1979 and 1980, Sound Machine Groove contains R.L. Burnside's first recordings with electric guitar and a band. His backing group, aptly named the Sound Machine, happened to be made up of members of his own family. Nonetheless, Burnside and company marvelously meld raw Mississippi blues with disparate qualities of urban soul, funk and R&B here and the results are pure gold. Highlights include a version of Sitting On Top of the World, with Burnside on slide guitar. Mississippi blues at its finest!1. Shake, Little Baby
