Abnormally Attracted To SinAbnormally Attracted To Sin, Tori Amos' tenth studio album, is yet another innovative chapter in the artists trailblazing story. The album was produced by Amos and features longtime contributors Matt Chamberlain on drums, Jon Evans on bass, and Mac Aladdin on guitars. Once again she is joined in the studio by Mark Hawley and Marcel Van Limbeek who recorded and mixed the album at Martian Engineering in Cornwall, England. Abnormallly Attracted To Sin is sure to be regarded by fans and critics as another innovative chapter in the artists trailblazing career.
With more than 12 million albums sold, and commanding a significant and uniquely loyal audience from the rock, pop, alternative, and under-the-radar regions of the musicworld, Ms. Amos has influenced a new generation of artists in a myriad of platforms. Most recently, she was the catalyst for a one-of-a-kind anthology chronicling her career, the 500 page Graphic Novel, Comic Book Tattoo, featuring stunning visual interpretations of her songs by more than 80 artists, (including an introduction by friend and creative influence artist Neil Gaiman, creator of the Sandman series).
Her genre-shattering breakthrough in the early 1990s, including 1991s Me And A Gun EP, and 1992s masterwork, Little Earthquakes, single-handedly revived the piano-singer motif in rock music. Little Earthquakes went on to sell more than 3 million albums worldwide, with subsequent Grammy nominated albums such as Under The Pink (1994), 1996s Boys For Pele, 2001s Strange Little Girls and 2002s Scarlets Walk continuing to explore broader themes.
Nominated for multiple awards, including ten Grammys, Ms. Amos has been working on a musical for London's British National Theatre called The Light Princess tentatively scheduled to debut in 2010.1. Give

Under The PinkUnder the Pink was Tori Amos' follow-up to the sensationally successful Little Earthquakes and demonstrates that she had by no means run out of faeries and demons to sport with. Amos herself describes it as her impressionistic album--her piano playing is perfectly attuned to the subtle, shifting colors of her lyrical moods on Bells for Her, while Past the Mission indicates her growing use of distinctive arrangements to illustrate her songs. Highlights include God, in which Amos demonstrates her often-missed humor, openly taunting the Almighty for his indifference to humanity, asking Do you need a woman to look after you? --David Stubbs

Little Earthquakes (Awaiting Repress)Emotionally and musically intense, Little Earthquakes shows that the piano is as much a rock & roll instrument as the guitar. Tori Amos's debut (if one disregards Y Kant Tori Read, as one would be well advised to do) is at once listenable and challenging; she takes on every topic, from sex to gender to religion, in an uncompromising manner.
Her music appears gentle at first, but this appearance is deceiving, as one quickly learns upon listening to the wrenching Crucify or the almost violent Precious Things. By the time the album gets around to Me and a Gun, sung hauntingly by Amos without accompaniment from her piano, the juxtaposition of Amos' sweet voice and the emotional complexity of her lyrics is both familiar and shocking. Sandman fans should listen for a reference to author Neil Gaiman in Tear in Your Hand.

Unrepentant GeraldinesUnrepentant Geraldines is Tori Amos' 14th studio album and first album of original pop/rock songs in 5 years and a return to the unique brand of singer
songwriter style that catapulted her to stardom over two decades ago.
During her career Tori Amos has sold over 12 million albums worldwide.
Unrepentant Geraldines is an album in which Amos once more zeroes in on the writing of brightly melodic, deftly evocative singer song-writer soul-poems.
The album title was inspired by a painting of Daniel Maclise, depicting the Irish folk tale character Geraldine in the pose of the repentant Magdalene. This
sparked a process of thoughts about women's repentance and their struggles throughout history.
Fusing themes such as women in society, motherhood and contemporary events, and also drawing inspiration from the work of visual artists, painters
such as Cezanne, she has created a landmark album, demonstrating why she is regarded as one of the most remarkable artists of recent times.
Unrepentant Geraldines was written over the past few years and entirely recorded in her Cornwall studio with long-time collaborators Mark Hawley and
Marcel Van Limbeek, "working as a triangle".
2014 brought a fresh approach to creating and working for Tori. The album features "Trouble's Lament", an eerie Southern blues song in which Amos's
matchless voice conjures up images of how the "flames from Satan's tongue are charged and licking at her heels "
Other highlights include "Promise" a touching duet with her 13-year old daughter Natasha, that documents the mother/daughter relationship and the
promises they make to each other, "Giant's Rolling Pin." a pithy, spry, jig-like satire on the NSA/Edward Snowden affair and "Oysters" a classic Amos
piano ballad, evocative of her timeless breakthrough album, 1992's Little Earthquakes.1. America

Night of HuntersNight of Hunters is a 21st century song cycle that finds the enigmatic Tori Amos drawing on themes from Satie, Granados, Chopin and other great composers. Her twelfth studio album and her first for Deutsche Grammophon tells a modern love story that is only unraveled after a journey to Ireland's mythic past. The album is an all-acoustic work. Guests include such esteemed players as The Apollon Musagete Quartet and the Berlin Philharmonic clarinet soloist Andreas Ottensamer.
With Night of Hunters, which she wrote and produced, Amos carries on the tradition of variations on a theme to create a bold new work while paying tribute to the mastery of the original compositions. In her own words: I have used the structure of a classical song cycle to tell an ongoing, modern story. The protagonist is a woman who finds herself in the dying embers of a relationship. In the course of one night she goes through an initiation of sorts that leads her to reinvent herself, allowing the listener to folllow her on a journey to explore complex musical and emotional subject matter. One of the main themes explored on this album is the hunter and the hunted and how both exist within us.1. Shattering Sea

FramesThe debut Brian Haas & Matt Chamberlain album Frames features 11 instrumental compositions that spiral through the tempered scale. A through-composed work for piano and percussion, it was written entirely by Haas, the internationally renowned pianist and founder of Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey. Now based in Santa Fe, Haas wrote Frames as a suite, equally influenced by stride piano masters Earl Hines, James P. Johnson and Fats Waller; the early minimalist works of Philip Glass and Steve Reich; and the lush aesthetic of modernists James Blake, Flying Lotus and Nigel Godrich. The music is pastoral, intensely melodic and tells the story of an imagined human life.
"After several years of non-stop touring with my band Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey I felt completely drained," explains Haas. "I was pulled to move to the high desert and mountains of Sante Fe; the space/distance from the road, the unearthly view from my house and the strange hum of my new surroundings inspired this music. What started as an exercise in all 12 keys turned into Frames."
Brian Haas has recorded 21 albums and toured the world for two decades with Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey, a band he started while a student at The University of Tulsa. Grammy Award-winning drummer Matt Chamberlain is one of the most revered musicians of his time having toured and recorded with the likes of Brad Mehldau, Edie Brickell & The New Bohemians, Critters Buggin, Tori Amos, Bill Frisell and Frank Ocean among others.1. I Do Not Want What I Haven't Got (Out Of Stock)I Do Not Want What I Haven't Got became SinÉad O'Connor's popular breakthrough on the strength of the stunning Prince cover Nothing Compares 2 U, which topped the pop charts for a month. But even its remarkable intimacy wasn't adequate preparation for the harrowing confessionals that composed the majority of the album. Informed by her stormy relationship with drummer John Reynolds, who fathered O'Connor's first child before the couple broke up, I Do Not Want What I Haven't Got lays the singer's psyche startlingly and sometimes uncomfortably bare. The songs mostly address relationships with parents, children, and (especially) lovers, through which O'Connor weaves a stubborn refusal to be defined by anyone but herself. In fact, the album is almost too personal and cathartic to draw the listener in close, since O'Connor projects such turmoil and offers such specific detail. Her confrontational openness makes it easy to overlook O'Connor's musical versatility. Granted, not all of the music is as brilliantly audacious as I Am Stretched on Your Grave, which marries a Frank O'Connor poem to eerie Celtic melodies and a James Brown Funky Drummer sample. But the album plays like a tour de force in its demonstration of everything O'Connor can do: dramatic orchestral ballads, intimate confessionals, catchy pop/rock, driving guitar rock, and protest folk, not to mention the nearly six-minute a cappella title track. What's consistent throughout is the frighteningly strong emotion O'Connor brings to bear on the material, while remaining sensitive to each piece's individual demands. Aside from being a brilliant album in its own right, I Do Not Want What I Haven't Got foreshadowed the rise of deeply introspective female singer/songwriters like Tori Amos and Sarah McLachlan, who were more traditionally feminine and connected with a wider audience. Which takes nothing away from anyone; if anything, it's evidence that, when on top of her game, O'Connor was a singular talent.
