Toto are responsible for the best sounding albums in 80s rock. With top of the range studio facilities and musicians at hand, founders David Paich, Bobby Kimball, Steve Lukather and the Porcaro brothers know how to craft a song or two. Their fourth album, released in 1982, was aptly titled IV and contains world hits "Rosanna" and "Africa". Noteworthy contestants for 'best songs' on this legendary album are "Make Believe" and "I Won't Hold You Back", both of which have proven chart success. The band was unarguably at its peak. After recording IV, Toto's members returned to the studio in order to help write and record Michael Jackson's Thriller.1. Rosanna

The members of Toto were regulars on albums by Steely Dan, Seals and Crofts, Boz Scaggs, Sonny and Cher, and many others, contributing to many of the most popular records of the 1970s.
The band enjoyed great commercial success in the late 1970s and 1980s, starting with the band's self-titled debut released in 1978.
It includes the hit singles 'Hold the Line', 'I'll Supply the Love' and 'Georgy Porgy' and the album gained a reputation when released for its characteristic sound, mixing soft pop with both synth and hard rock elements.

The Seventh OneReleased in 1988, Toto's The Seventh One (referring to the seventh album of this immensely popular Soft Rock band) featured some very recognizable songs that have become evergreen radio classics. First of all, the album kicks off with "Pamela", a girl song that matches their previous success of IV's hit single "Rosanna". And where would the world be without the eighties anthem "Stop Loving You"? Also the other songs on this superb album are gold in their own right. Listen to a song like "Stay Away" and imagine yourself being thrown back to the late eighties, sporting a striped T-shirt, denim jacket and Air Jordans while on your way to Back To The Future part II. Toto bears an instantaneously recognizable stamp of the '80s, but because of the high quality songwriting, their music is absolutely timeless and here to stay.Side A

Toto IV (Speakers Corner)
Anyone who gives the dull name "Four" to their rock album must either be very sure of success or already have resigned. The group Toto may well have experienced such extremes as there was an enormous cleft between their amazing financial success and the crushing negative opinions voiced by the critics. Billboard criticised the superficial lyrics as being void of any sort of emotional weight while the Los Angeles Times aimed their fire at the musicians themselves, slamming them as dubious artists with a commercialised mentality.
To this Toto struck back with their fourth album, which was an unparalleled success and brought them six Grammy awards. For a whole ten months Africa reigned at Number 1 on the charts and together with the super-hit Rosanna the two smash hits were a constant presence, backed up by a collection of impressive rock classics. A trip to the record shop is all that is needed to prove that this is unlikely to change in the near future. The bright red cover with its depiction of a sword will catch your eye, as though saying: It's got to be the Fourth!

About Speakers Corner
At the beginning of the 90s, in the early days of audiophile vinyl re-releases, the situation was fairly straightforward. Companies such as DCC, Mobile Fidelity, Classic Records and, of course, Speakers Corner all maintained a mutual, unwritten ethical code: we would only use analogue tapes to manufacture records.
During the course of the present vinyl hype, many others have jumped on the bandwagon in the hope of securing a corner of the market. Very often they are not so ethical and use every imaginable source to master from: CDs, LPs, digital files, MP3s - or employed existant tools from the 80s and 90s for manufacturing.
A digital delay is gladly used when cutting a lacquer disc because tape machines with an analogue delay have become quite rare and are therefore expensive. When cutting the lacquer, the audio signal is delayed by one LP revolution against the signal, which controls the cutter head, and for this a digital delay is very often employed. Of course, the resultant sound signal is completely digital and thus only as good as this delay.
We should like to emphasise that Speakers Corner Records on principle only uses the original master tape as the basis for the entirely analogue cutting of lacquer discs. In addition, the pressing tool is newly manufactured as a matter of principle. We have one digital recording in our catalogue (Alan Parsons / Eye In The Sky"), but even in this particular case we used the analogue tapes for cutting.
We only employ existing tools for manufacturing if an improved result is not forthcoming, e.g. the title Elvis Is Back, which was mastered by Steve Hoffman and Kevin Gray, or several titles from our Philips Classics series, which in any case Willem Makkee cut from the original masters at the Emil Berliner Studios in the 90s. It goes without saying that we only used the mother and that new tools were made for our production.
To put it in a nutshell: we can ensure you that our releases are free from any kind of digital effects - excluding the exception above - and that the lacquer discs are newly cut.

TotoMastered by Joe Reagoso at Friday Music Studios and RTI with Kevin Gray!
While already having street credibility due to their years supporting a plethora of gold and platinum artists (Steely Dan, Boz Scaggs, Chicago), the debut album from Toto simply titled Toto catapulted the power quintet into major arena rock status as they accumulated a ton of hit singles and gold and platinum album awards on this 1979 masterpiece.
Upon its release, Toto flew into the upper rungs of the rock and pop music charts with the power rocker Hold The Line. Filled with its catchy hooks, brilliant vocal and guitar work from maestro Steve Lukather, and the familiar Bobby Kimball high energy lead vocals, this amazing debut single has become a classic rock staple.
Adding the stellar piano work from David Paich and Steve Porcaro, the song truly resonated with its huge audience, and broke wide open the importance of both the band and their great new album.
Produced by Toto (David Paich, Steve Lukather, Jeff Porcaro, Steve Porcaro, Bobby Kimball, David Hungate) Toto was a watershed venture for the band as its ten champion tunes have all truly stood the test of time. Aside from the massive top charting Hold The Line there were more classics abound like the follow up power rocker I'll Supply The Love, the soulful fare of Georgy Porgy featuring the great Cheryl Lynn on vocals, plus even more brillant album tracks like Angela, Rockmaker and Manuela Run.
The Friday Music Toto 180g audiophile vinyl series continues with the band's history making debut album Toto. Impeccably mastered from the original Columbia Records tapes by Joe Reagoso (Toto/Boz Scaggs/Hall & Oates/Doobie Brothers) this brilliant masterpiece is now finally available in the audiophile vinyl domain. MindfieldsMindelds is the 10th studio record by Toto, as originally released in 1999. The album saw the return of original Toto singer Bobby Kimball, who had left the band once their breakthrough album Toto IV was released back in 1982. Kimball and axe slinger Steve Lukather share lead vocals, dividing these duties approx 60/40.
As always with Toto, the playing is tight. What else would one expect from these veteran musicians? Apart from Lukather and Kimball, Toto in '99 consisted of David Paich (keyboards), Mike Porcaro (bass) and Simon Phillips (drums, who replaced original drummer Jeff Porcaro after his fatal heart attack in 1992). The record was nominated for a Grammy in the category Best Engineered Album, Non Classical.LP1

Lacquer Plating By Gary Salstrom And 200-Gram Vinyl Pressing By Quality Record Pressings
A musical legacy that began in Hawthorne, California and went on to conquer the world. Analogue Productions presents the ultimate pressings of 14 essential Beach Boys albums! Mastered by Kevin Gray, most from the original master tapes, and plated and pressed by Quality Record Pressings, the finest LP pressing facility in the world, these are awesome recordings to experience. And the look of each album befits its sonic superiority! Presented in old school Stoughton tip-on jackets, these time honored favorites shine brighter than the originals!
All Summer Long was notable not only for racheting up the Beach Boys' standards and essentially bidding farewell to the surf songs that inspired both their name and reputation, but also for going toe-to-toe with one of rock's most explosive phenomena - Beatlemania - and coming away victorious, with the single 'I Get Around' soaring to No. 1 in the spring of 1964. Essentially another loose concept record (revolving around the innocent hedonistic pursuits of an idyllic SoCal summer) that takes its cue from the effervescent title track, it also documents Brian's restless creativity pushing the band toward its performing peak. - Amazon.com
Apart from Surfin' Safari, which was mono only, the Beach Boys did turn in stereo masters on all of their early albums up until 1965. The Beach Boys Today! was the first LP for which they only delivered a mono master.
The stereo editions of Surfin' USA, Surfer Girl, Little Deuce Coupe, Shut Down Vol. 2, All Summer Long, Beach Boys Christmas Album and Beach Boys Concert were all mixed in stereo by their own preferred engineer, Chuck Britz, ostensibly under the group's supervision.
Brian may or may not have been present for those mixing sessions - evidence suggests that he trusted Chuck's skills enough to let him prepare those mixes on his own - but the group held onto their multitrack tapes and delivered stereo masters to Capitol, rather than allowing Capitol to prepare their own stereo versions. Later, when Brian was only delivering mono masters, Capitol would prepare the Duophonic pseudo stereo editions for the stereo market, says Alan Boyd, producer and Beach Boys' archivist.
The Beach Boys' practice of double-tracking their vocals really lends itself to stereo mixes. Split left and right, as they are on a lot of those early stereo versions, those doubled vocal parts can really envelop the listener, surrounding them with Wilsons, Loves and Jardines!
All of the newer stereo mixes on these remastered albums (The Beach Boys Today!, Summer Days (And Summer Nights!!), The Beach Boys' Party, Pet Sounds and Smiley Smile) were all done by Mark Linett on behalf of the Beach Boys.

Silk DegreesSilk Degrees by Boz Scaggs was not only one of the finest examples of crossover soul, pop & rock ever recorded, but it was also one of the biggest albums of the 70's & included some of the finest grooves ever played by Boz Scaggs, which netted him a Grammy for his mega number one hit Lowdown.Other major hit singles included in this ltd. ed HQ vinyl edition are Lido Shuffle, Georgia & It's Over. Other artists covered songs from this watershed album & had major hits themselves, which further illustrates the importance of this highly loved LP. Includes bonus LIVE cd in the first 1000 copies!
Personnel: Boz Scaggs (vocals); Fred Tackett, Louie Shelton (guitars); Les Dudek (slide guitar); Plas Johnson (tenor saxophone, horns); Bud Shank (saxophones, horns); Chuck Findley (horns, flugelhorn); Jim Horn, Tom Scott, Dick Hyde, Paul Hubinon, Vincent deRosa (horns); David Paich (keyboards, synthesizer); David Hungate (bass); Jeff Porcaro (drums, percussion); Carolyn Willis, Marty McCall, Jim Gilstrap, Augie Johnson, Maxine Green, Pepper Swenson (background vocals).
Recorded at Davlen Sound Studios and Hollywood Sound Studios, Los Angeles, California. Boz Scaggs's 1976 breakthrough, SILK DEGREES, was not only his biggest-selling album, it was also one of his best. Here Scaggs collaborated with keyboardist and bandleader David Paich, who would soon form the hugely successful band Toto with this record's drummer, Jeff Porcaro. In Paich, Scaggs found a foil who added just enough pop gloss to make his blues- and R&B-tinged material palatable to the masses. Crucially, though, the pair keeps Scaggs's remarkable voice at the center of things, never going too far overboard with the studio polish. As a result, hit singles Lowdown and, particularly, the horn-spiked R&B of Lido Shuffle still sound fresh, while the ballads remain soulful. A year or so later, Rita Coolidge would take one of those ballads, We're All Alone, into the Billboard Top Ten with her own version.

Waiting A LifetimeSplashh was formed in 2012 by friends Sasha Carlson and Toto Vivian. The pair have been making music together since they were teenagers in the suburbs of Australia, which to be fair, was only a few years ago.
Their debut album, Comfort, recorded entirely on their own with a home studio in their London flat, was released in 2013 to critical acclaim. With praise from NME, BBC, CLASH, The Guardian, Clash, Drowned in Sound, Q, and many other tastemakers, the band hit the road in support of the album touring extensively through the UK, Europe, America and Australia.
In 2015, the band divided themselves between London and New York City, for a time of "self-imposed exile to write." The idea being that the time apart, and the different influences of the two cities, would bring a new dimension to the music. With the addition of new members, and the production skills of Nicolas Vernhes, (War on Drugs, Deerhunter, Dirty Projectors) the sound that this creative time had cultivated has been beautifully captured on Waiting A Lifetime, their sophomore effort, to be released on by Cinematic Music Group in early 2017.
"When we first went in the studio, we had a different idea of how we wanted the record to sound," says Vivian. "We had been sitting with the demos for 3 years, so we had an idea of what we thought the album should sound like. When we went into the studio with Nicolas, we started fresh and tore the songs apart. It was a lot of fun to experiment and take it as far as we could. It was liberating."
Adding another layer to the album is the band's aesthetic. The album artwork is by artist Lucien Smith, who created original works of sculpture he then photographed for the band to use. The first round of press photos is by drummer Zachary Chick.
"It's fast and in your face. Loud, but also pretty," says Toto. "The whole record has a lot to offer. If people like 'Rings' then I think they will love the record or not :)"1. Rings

Talk To Your DaughterOn his 1988 solo effort Talk To Your Daughter, singer/guitarist Robben Ford proves himself a master of sophisticated Blues-Rock guitar playing. The material is quite strong, and all the musicians perform at the highest level, but it's Ford's stellar soloing that makes this release. Fans of flailing '80s Rock virtuosos would do well to check out Ford's exceptional work on Talk To Your Daughter. The musician's colorful yet controlled improvising and harmonic mastery is a rare and beautiful sonic treat.
The title track is dripping with soulful, well-placed guitar lines that play like a master lesson of up-tempo blues phrasing that guitarists would do well to study. Other standouts include Albert King's Born Under a Bad Sign (which was used in Clint Eastwood's feature film Pink Cadillac) and Ain't Got Nothin' But the Blues.
The fine arrangements and especially Vinnie Colaiuta's sharp drumming are all tightly wound with crisp, clear production that tops off the title track making it a shining success. The album also features Toto's Jeff Porcaro on drums on I Got Over It. Listeners fond of Ford's work with the Yellowjackets and numerous side gigs, as well as guitarists and all musicians, should enjoy this very professional, succinctly executed offering. First rate!1. 10X10Before his untimely death in 2012, renowned American rock guitarist Ronnie Montrose began recording an ambitious passion project with bassist Ricky Phillips (Styx, Bad English) and drummer Eric Singer (Kiss, Alice Cooper). The idea was to record 10 songs with 10 different singers and call the album 10X10. Sadly, Montrose was unable to see the album through during his lifetime. Instead, Phillips made it his mission to finish the songs by enlisting a small army of Ronnie's musician friends to record the vocals and the guitar solos for each song, completing the album in recent years.
Phillips says the songs represent some of Montrose's best work. "His songs still have the fire and angst of a young rebel, but with some added wisdom and foresight voiced in his own unique language of 'guitar-speak.' On 10X10, we hear Ronnie at the top of his game, from the opening crunch guitar of 'Heavy Traffic,' all the way to the closing song, 'I'm Not Lying,' which was Ronnie's tip of the hat to his friend Robin Trower."
10X10 features inspired pairings, like Deep Purple singer Glenn Hughes with Def Leppard guitarist Phil Collen ("Still Singin' With The Band") and singer Sammy Hagar with Toto guitarist Steve Lukather ("Color Blind"). Legendary blues guitarist Joe Bonamassa also showcases his guitar talents on the track "The Kingdom's Come Undone" with Ricky Phillips on vocals. A few artists both sing and play, like Edgar Winter ("Love Is An Art") and Tommy Shaw ("Strong Enough").
Several artists who appear on 10X10 had recorded with Ronnie during his career, like Edgar Winter, who included the guitarist on his 1972 album, They Only Come Out At Night. Sammy Hagar got his start singing with Montrose. Between 1973-75, he recorded two influential albums - Montrose and Paper Money - with the band and toured the world.
More than 40 years later, Hagar was among the first who agreed to help finish Ronnie's final album. "It's valuable to have 10X10 be seen as Ronnie's last work, rather than going and digging up some stuff from his past. This was something he truly had a vision for," says Hagar.1. Heavy Traffic Feat. On StageThe album was recorded live over several German and Japanese dates in late 1976 during the Rising world tour. Many of the tracks were spliced together from different dates by producer Martin Birch, and the running order was changed to more easily fit four sides of vinyl. The recording features the customary introduction to a Rainbow show - the classic quote from the The Wizard of Oz, Toto: I've a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore. We must be over the rainbow! with the last word repeated as an echo, then the actual band plays a musical phrase from the song Somewhere Over the Rainbow before breaking into Kill the King.LP1

Dragon MouthFollowing their split 7" with LA's Aeges released last October, Dust Moth now releases their debut EP, Dragon Mouth. A dense, layered genre-defying statement in six distinct movements. The band is comprised of current & former members of such influential bands as These Arms Are Snakes, Minus The Bear, Undertow, Aeges, and XVIII Individual Eyes. Taking the sound hinted at on their debut single "Toto", the band has upped the ante for themselves across the board. The songs are deceptively heavy while simultaneously lush with atmosphere, as Irene Barbaric's haunting croon floats effortlessly above it all. The album spans the emotional spectrum with some moments feeling unbearably morose and others feeling utterly triumphant. Few debut EPs sound this confident, this direct, or this special. Dragon Mouth was produced, recorded, and mixed by Matt Bayles, who is also a full time member of the band (keys). His resume is no secret, and includes such legendary bands as Isis, Mastodon, Botch, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, and many more. It was then sent off to be mastered by Chris Common (Palms, Pelican, The Sword). The album will be released on March 25th via The Mylene Sheath.1. Pounding

Highlights"Mixed Emotions falls right into place, then, indulging both musical and emotional nostalgia without falling victim to any particular trend." - SPIN
"Toto would be proud." - CMJ
Highlights, the band's first collection of new material since their critically-lauded debut, Mixed Emotions, in 2012, began in a basement in Pittsburgh and ended in a church in Brooklyn. It trades world music sounds for a more alive, realized approach, the result of Emm and Cohen knowing they wanted to break from their 'two
guys, one screen' writing style.
Influenced by their time spent on the road touring Mixed Emotions, primarily in the States, they
reached for the sounds of 90's New York hip-hop drums, Detroit techno synths, and lots and lots
of guitars. The result could almost be called an homage to the sonics of America, if that sort of
phrase wouldn't make the band cringe. Instead, let's just call Highlights "the album where things
started making more sense." Between working in Los Angeles with producer Patrick Ford, and
their hometown of New York City with Chris Taylor (Grizzly Bear) in his 100 year-old church studio,
they eventually settled on the ten songs that make up the record.
Highlights is like a renaissance for a band that began in 2008 as a one-off remix project. The upbeat dancefloor-ready tracks are imbued with colors and emotional range that go much deeper than ever before, with Emm's vocals and lyrics, at once personal and observational, taking center stage.1. Showdown!180 gram vinyl reissue of this Grammy Award-winning, all-time best-selling masterpiece from Alligator Records. Remastered with bonus track Something To Remember You By, this title has been out of print on vinyl for 20 years. SHOWDOWN! has over 285,000 units sold in the U.S. It's a celebrated cutting contest between three legendary blues guitarists. Albert Collins and Johnny Copeland are sadly no longer with us, but Robert Cray continues to record and tour, and is one of the best-selling blues artists in history with over 2.3 million career units scanned.
Full performer name: Albert Collins/Robert Cray/Johnny Copeland. Personnel includes: Albert Collins (vocals, guitar, harmonica); Robert Cray, Johnny Copeland (vocals, guitar); Allen Batts (organ); Johnny B. Gayden (bass); Casey Jones (drums). Recorded at Streeterville Studios, Chicago, Illinois. Includes liner notes by Bruce Iglauer & Dick Shurman. This excellent 1985 Alligator release finds three guitar legends squaring off, cutting heads, and forming a brotherhood forged in blues. The elder statesman and leader here is the irrepressible Albert Collins, whose guitar sound and unique approach to the blues has been bending ears since the '50s. Johnny Copeland, the Texas Twister, an early disciple and longtime friend of Collins, is also here, showing he's moved well beyond Collins's early tutelage. The youngest gun is Robert Cray, another musician Collins took under his wing (some 15 years after he first met Copeland). Backed only by a bassist, drummer, and organist (the spare backing band helps put the guitar work at center stage), Collins, Copeland, and Cray go toe-to-toe on these tracks. What's especially intriguing is that each song gives equal air time to each musician, making room for solos all around and even, on some tracks, shared vocals. Copeland is the wildest here, with his wooly, rough-hewn voice and blistering leads, counterbalanced by Cray, who lends a laid-back air of sophistication to the proceedings. Collins brings it all together with his signature icy style. SHOWDOWN! is a dream come true for blues-guitar fans.1.T-Bone Shuffle
