Mindelds is the 10th studio record by Toto, as originally released in 1999. The album saw the return of original Toto singer Bobby Kimball, who had left the band once their breakthrough album Toto IV was released back in 1982. Kimball and axe slinger Steve Lukather share lead vocals, dividing these duties approx 60/40.

As always with Toto, the playing is tight. What else would one expect from these veteran musicians? Apart from Lukather and Kimball, Toto in '99 consisted of David Paich (keyboards), Mike Porcaro (bass) and Simon Phillips (drums, who replaced original drummer Jeff Porcaro after his fatal heart attack in 1992). The record was nominated for a Grammy in the category Best Engineered Album, Non Classical.

    Toto IV (Speakers Corner)

Anyone who gives the dull name "Four" to their rock album must either be very sure of success or already have resigned. The group Toto may well have experienced such extremes as there was an enormous cleft between their amazing financial success and the crushing negative opinions voiced by the critics. Billboard criticised the superficial lyrics as being void of any sort of emotional weight while the Los Angeles Times aimed their fire at the musicians themselves, slamming them as dubious artists with a commercialised mentality.

To this Toto struck back with their fourth album, which was an unparalleled success and brought them six Grammy awards. For a whole ten months Africa reigned at Number 1 on the charts and together with the super-hit Rosanna the two smash hits were a constant presence, backed up by a collection of impressive rock classics. A trip to the record shop is all that is needed to prove that this is unlikely to change in the near future. The bright red cover with its depiction of a sword will catch your eye, as though saying: It's got to be the Fourth!

    About Speakers Corner

At the beginning of the 90s, in the early days of audiophile vinyl re-releases, the situation was fairly straightforward. Companies such as DCC, Mobile Fidelity, Classic Records and, of course, Speakers Corner all maintained a mutual, unwritten ethical code: we would only use analogue tapes to manufacture records.

During the course of the present vinyl hype, many others have jumped on the bandwagon in the hope of securing a corner of the market. Very often they are not so ethical and use every imaginable source to master from: CDs, LPs, digital files, MP3s - or employed existant tools from the 80s and 90s for manufacturing.

A digital delay is gladly used when cutting a lacquer disc because tape machines with an analogue delay have become quite rare and are therefore expensive. When cutting the lacquer, the audio signal is delayed by one LP revolution against the signal, which controls the cutter head, and for this a digital delay is very often employed. Of course, the resultant sound signal is completely digital and thus only as good as this delay.

We should like to emphasise that Speakers Corner Records on principle only uses the original master tape as the basis for the entirely analogue cutting of lacquer discs. In addition, the pressing tool is newly manufactured as a matter of principle. We have one digital recording in our catalogue (Alan Parsons / Eye In The Sky"), but even in this particular case we used the analogue tapes for cutting.

We only employ existing tools for manufacturing if an improved result is not forthcoming, e.g. the title Elvis Is Back, which was mastered by Steve Hoffman and Kevin Gray, or several titles from our Philips Classics series, which in any case Willem Makkee cut from the original masters at the Emil Berliner Studios in the 90s. It goes without saying that we only used the mother and that new tools were made for our production.

To put it in a nutshell: we can ensure you that our releases are free from any kind of digital effects - excluding the exception above - and that the lacquer discs are newly cut.

This title is not eligible for discount.

    25th Anniversary Live In Amsterdam

Toto is founded in 1977 by some of the most experienced session musicians of that time. The band enjoyed great commercial success in the late 1970s and 1980s, beginning with the band's self-titled debut released in 1978. With the release of 1982's critically acclaimed and commercially successful 'Toto IV', Toto became one of the best-selling music groups of their era. They are best known for their Top 5 hits 'Hold the Line', 'Rosanna', 'Stop Loving You', 'Pamela' and 'Africa'. They still continue to sell out arenas all over the world.

The band celebrated their 25th anniversary by touring the world, which started in 2002 and concluded in 2003. They recorded their show in Amsterdam and released it in late 2003. Music on Vinyl is proud to release this album for the first time on vinyl.

    Toto IV

    Import

Toto are responsible for the best sounding albums in 80s rock. With top of the range studio facilities and musicians at hand, founders David Paich, Bobby Kimball, Steve Lukather and the Porcaro brothers know how to craft a song or two. Their fourth album, released in 1982, was aptly titled IV and contains world hits "Rosanna" and "Africa". Noteworthy contestants for 'best songs' on this legendary album are "Make Believe" and "I Won't Hold You Back", both of which have proven chart success. The band was unarguably at its peak. After recording IV, Toto's members returned to the studio in order to help write and record Michael Jackson's Thriller.

    Toto XIV

TOTO XIV is the band s first album of new material since 2006 s Falling In Between. However, the band personally considers the new album to be the true follow-up to TOTO IV, which made the band global superstars. The album is a realized vision three plus decades in the making, exhibiting world-class musicianship, masterful arrangements, topical lyrical commentary, and melodies that the collective genius of Lukather, Paich, Porcaro, Williams and their assembled band-mates bring to life. The band s current line-up includes original members Steve Lukather, David Paich and Steve Porcaro and sees the return to the fold of original bass player, David Hungate. Joseph Williams (singer on The Seventh One and Fahrenheit ) returns to handle lead vocals, while Keith Carlock (Steely Dan, Sting) now sits behind the drumkit.

    The Seventh One

Released in 1988, Toto's The Seventh One (referring to the seventh album of this immensely popular Soft Rock band) featured some very recognizable songs that have become evergreen radio classics. First of all, the album kicks off with "Pamela", a girl song that matches their previous success of IV's hit single "Rosanna". And where would the world be without the eighties anthem "Stop Loving You"? Also the other songs on this superb album are gold in their own right. Listen to a song like "Stay Away" and imagine yourself being thrown back to the late eighties, sporting a striped T-shirt, denim jacket and Air Jordans while on your way to Back To The Future part II. Toto bears an instantaneously recognizable stamp of the '80s, but because of the high quality songwriting, their music is absolutely timeless and here to stay.

    On Stage

The album was recorded live over several German and Japanese dates in late 1976 during the Rising world tour. Many of the tracks were spliced together from different dates by producer Martin Birch, and the running order was changed to more easily fit four sides of vinyl. The recording features the customary introduction to a Rainbow show - the classic quote from the The Wizard of Oz, Toto: I've a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore. We must be over the rainbow! with the last word repeated as an echo, then the actual band plays a musical phrase from the song Somewhere Over the Rainbow before breaking into Kill the King.

    Showdown!

180 gram vinyl reissue of this Grammy Award-winning, all-time best-selling masterpiece from Alligator Records. Remastered with bonus track Something To Remember You By, this title has been out of print on vinyl for 20 years. SHOWDOWN! has over 285,000 units sold in the U.S. It's a celebrated cutting contest between three legendary blues guitarists. Albert Collins and Johnny Copeland are sadly no longer with us, but Robert Cray continues to record and tour, and is one of the best-selling blues artists in history with over 2.3 million career units scanned.

Full performer name: Albert Collins/Robert Cray/Johnny Copeland. Personnel includes: Albert Collins (vocals, guitar, harmonica); Robert Cray, Johnny Copeland (vocals, guitar); Allen Batts (organ); Johnny B. Gayden (bass); Casey Jones (drums). Recorded at Streeterville Studios, Chicago, Illinois. Includes liner notes by Bruce Iglauer & Dick Shurman. This excellent 1985 Alligator release finds three guitar legends squaring off, cutting heads, and forming a brotherhood forged in blues. The elder statesman and leader here is the irrepressible Albert Collins, whose guitar sound and unique approach to the blues has been bending ears since the '50s. Johnny Copeland, the Texas Twister, an early disciple and longtime friend of Collins, is also here, showing he's moved well beyond Collins's early tutelage. The youngest gun is Robert Cray, another musician Collins took under his wing (some 15 years after he first met Copeland). Backed only by a bassist, drummer, and organist (the spare backing band helps put the guitar work at center stage), Collins, Copeland, and Cray go toe-to-toe on these tracks. What's especially intriguing is that each song gives equal air time to each musician, making room for solos all around and even, on some tracks, shared vocals. Copeland is the wildest here, with his wooly, rough-hewn voice and blistering leads, counterbalanced by Cray, who lends a laid-back air of sophistication to the proceedings. Collins brings it all together with his signature icy style. SHOWDOWN! is a dream come true for blues-guitar fans.

    Dragon Mouth

Following their split 7" with LA's Aeges released last October, Dust Moth now releases their debut EP, Dragon Mouth. A dense, layered genre-defying statement in six distinct movements. The band is comprised of current & former members of such influential bands as These Arms Are Snakes, Minus The Bear, Undertow, Aeges, and XVIII Individual Eyes. Taking the sound hinted at on their debut single "Toto", the band has upped the ante for themselves across the board. The songs are deceptively heavy while simultaneously lush with atmosphere, as Irene Barbaric's haunting croon floats effortlessly above it all. The album spans the emotional spectrum with some moments feeling unbearably morose and others feeling utterly triumphant. Few debut EPs sound this confident, this direct, or this special. Dragon Mouth was produced, recorded, and mixed by Matt Bayles, who is also a full time member of the band (keys). His resume is no secret, and includes such legendary bands as Isis, Mastodon, Botch, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, and many more. It was then sent off to be mastered by Chris Common (Palms, Pelican, The Sword). The album will be released on March 25th via The Mylene Sheath.
