Love And CircumstanceImport
2010's Love And Circumstance is the fourth solo full-length from singer/songwriter/musician Carrie Rodriguez. The 12-song collection was produced by Lee Townsend (Bill Frisell) and recorded with Hans Holzen (guitar), Kyle Kegerreis (bass) and Eric Platz (drums). Other artists appearing here also include none other than Bill Frisell (guitar), Greg Leisz (pedal steel/slide guitars), Aoife ODonovan (background vocals) and Buddy Miller (background vocals).
Carrie wraps herself around songs from influences and peers such as John Hiatt/Nick Lowe/Ry Cooder/Jim Keltner (aka Little Village), Buddy Miller & Julie Miller, David Rodriguez, Gillian Welch & David Rawlings, Richard Thompson, Townes Van Zandt, M. Ward, Merle Haggard & Bonnie Owens, Hank Williams, Lucinda Williams, and more. As If We ExistedThis is the debut and next link in the chain of cerebral hip-hop by the proteges of politically minded rapper Sage Francis. Beat artist DiViNCi plays his MPC with the passion and intensity of a Hendrix or a Townsend, filling the stage with an astonishing sonic landscape. These athletic beats form the perfect setting for MC Swamburger's flow; a tongue-twisting, machine-gunning cadence whose precision is surgical in both rhythm and message. With tough, spiritual tracks that take aim at specific issues like cultural revolution, ethnic alcoholism, and personal wellness, As If We Existed is a public service announcement with spit.1. Brand New Album And His First Solo Album In 18 Years
Featuring Change In The Air, Thankful, What Do You Want?, In Line, And Rambler
Music IS marks the first solo album from Bill Frisell since the release of Ghost Town, 18 years ago. The focus of the album is on the telling of musical stories from Frisell's original and inimitable perspective: some of the interpretations being naked, exposed and truly solo, while others are more orchestrated through overdubbed layering and the use of his unparalleled approach to looping. The pieces on Music IS range from his earliest jazz records from the mid-'80s to excerpts from recent multi-disciplinary collaborations. Recorded in August of 2017 at Tucker Martine's Flora Recording and Playback studio in Portland, Oregon and produced by longtime collaborator Lee Townsend, all of the compositions on Music IS were written by Frisell. Recorded in August of 2017 at Tucker Martine's Flora Recording and Playback studio in Portland, Oregon and produced by longtime collaborator Lee Townsend, all of the compositions on Music IS were written by Frisell. The end result is Bill Frisell at his most distilled and fully realized. The album debuted at #1 on the US Jazz Albums Charts.
Frisell has done so much. He's on well over 250 records, with over 40 of those as a leader. Frisell's mantra, or motto so to speak, is, Music is Good - a statement said to him by his dear friend and great banjo player Danny Barnes. That is something that I can say is always true. It's so perfect. Everything I need to know is that phrase, 'Music is Good.' I almost called the album that, but then I thought that might be too literal. It's good to leave it open.LP 1

David Bowie is truly a gift to rock music fans everywhere. There will

generations of aspiring musicians and music lovers the world over with
the many fine recordings and concert tours he's created seamlessly for
Celebrating over four decades in the music business, this English
native initially captivated millions of kids in the 70's with his Ziggy Stardust
persona. He drove the rockers mad with his stellar concerts and dynamic
presence on the stage. As David moved on and started venturing into other
fields of music, film and art, he soon emerged as one of the early founders
of alternative and ambient music with albums like Low and Heroes. At the
turn of the millennium, Bowie scored a new legion of fans with more harder
edged recordings like his 2002 multi-platinum masterwork Heathen.
Heathen kicks things off with the hard rock guitar sounds on Sunday.
This radio and fan favorite graced the alternative and college radio stations
and helped bolster even further the rest of the Lp with follow up hits like
the tour de force Slow Burn featuring the legendary Pete Townsend, and a
stellar revisit of Neil Young's I've Been Waiting For You featuring the guitar
work of Dave Grohl. All in all, a truly remarkable album which paved the
way to a whole new level of fans as David Bowie continues to be a major
force in the music of now and forever.
Friday Music is no stranger to the music of the legendary David Bowie,
as we've been releasing his fine recordings on our label. That is why
we are so very proud to announce another first installment in The David

Nature NoirCrystal Stilts first came to attention with a self-titled eP in 2005 and 2008's Alight of Night, an early ripple in what would soon be perceived of as a wave of fuzzy, reverb-laden bands memorably dubbed "Jangle-Schrammelpop" by one German reviewer. The intervening years have seen the band grow and evolve, with 2011's robust In Love With Oblivion, and the Radiant Door eP, their debut release for Sacred Bones.
Founded by vocalist Brad Hargett and guitarist JB Townsend, Crystal Stilts have since come to include Andy Adler on bass, Keegan Cooke on drums, and organist Kyle Forester. Together the five-piece have crafted the band's latest lP, Nature Noir. Recorded in the damp spring of 2013, this newest disc finds the group expanding their palette to include strings, percussion, and synthesizers, to create a record that is both more sonically adventurous and a more personal and humane statement than their previous work.
On tracks such as "Star Crawl" and "Sticks and Stones", Hargett's vocals have a striking clarity and soulfulness, while the musical arrangements throughout display a sophistication that may be surprising to those who previously thought of the band as "lo-fi". Meanwhile, album opener "Spirit in Front of Me" and the ripping "Future Folklore" showcase the psychedelic grit that has long been a trademark sound.1. Spirit in Front of Me

MonochromeANATHEMA'S PIONEERING SONGWRITER DANIEL CAVANAGH RELEASES DEBUT SOLO ALBUM
Riding the waves of his success with Anathema's latest album 'The Optimist', which includes a worldwide headline tour, multiple summer music festivals and an Album of the Year nomination for the 2017 Progressive Music Awards, Daniel Cavanagh releases his debut solo album, Monochrome.
Inspired by internal feelings of love and loss, 'Monochrome' is a deeply reflective and personal offering. Cavanagh elaborates: The album has a late night, candlelit feeling, evoking the light of dusk as the summer sun sinks below the horizon, setting the scene for thoughts and meditations that many people will relate to.
A lot of this material could easily have made it on to the last Anathema album or any future album; that's how highly the band rate it. There are several highlights: The Exorcist and The Silent Flight of the Raven Winged Hours are among some of my best works of the last decade. Taking them from the band was not an easy decision but I am glad; they're so personal as to not need more input.
Monochrome features Anneke Van Giersbergen - ex-vocalist for The Gathering, who has since sung with Devin Townsend, Árstíðir, Anathema and Arjen Lucassen - and the exceptionally talented Anna Phoebe provides violin on three of the album tracks. Recorded at Grammy Award-winning Parr Street Studios, engineered by Andrea Wright, mastered by Anathema's Daniel Cardoso, and with artwork by illustrator Danny Branscombe, this album is stacked to be a special addition to the Kscope family.1. For the most part, 1979's Eve is somewhat overlooked as being one of the Alan Parsons Project's finest work, when in fact it involves some of this group's most intricate songs. The album's concept deals with the female's overpowering effect on man. Each song touches on her ability to dissect the male ego, especially through sexual means, originating with Eve's tempting Adam in the beginning of time.
Not only does this idea gain strength as the album progresses, but a musical battle of the sexes begins to arise through each song. The gorgeous "You Won't Be There" spotlights man's insecurity. Sung by Dave Townsend, its melodramatic feel sets a perfect tone. The classically enhanced "Winding Me Up" follows suit, based on a woman's ability to dominate her mate and opening up with sound of a wind-up doll being cranked. Other gems include the bitter but forceful "Damned If I Do" sung by Lenny Zakatek, and the dominating fury of "Lucifer," a powerful instrumental. Even the loutish "You Lie Down with Dogs" bears wit with its gender inclined mud-slinging.
The female vocalists, Lesley Duncan and Clare Torry do a splendid job of representing the females point of view throughout the album. Not only does Eve solidify its main idea, but the songs are highly entertaining with catchy rhythms and intelligent lyrics. Musically, the tempo appealingly switches back and forth from slow to quick, as does the temperament of the album. Somehow, Eve is dismissed as one of this band's greatest efforts, when in fact it's one of their finest marriages of both concept and music.1. Lucifer

Old Songs New Songs (Out of Stock)New Re-mastered Madfish Vinyl Edition Of The Classic 1971 Family Release
Growing out of the R&B boom of the early 60s, Family's sound evolved into a unique mix of blues, folk, jazz, psychedelia and high energy rock'n'roll built around the distinctive vocals of frontman Roger Chapman, Charlie Whitney's innovative guitar playing and Rob townsend's thunderous drumming.

Marquise Knox (Out Of Stock)One of the most exciting young blues players to emerge in quite some time, Marquise Knox embodies the soul and essence of a seasoned veteran, with a command of guitar, harmonica, vocals, songwriting and showmanship that belie his 18 years of age.
From St. Louis, Knox grew up listening to B.B. King, Lightnin' Hopkins, Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker and Albert King, and, despite the neighborhood influences of his peers, has yet to stray from deep-rooted traditional blues. He's already performed with legends like Henry Townsend, Honeyboy Edwards, Robert Lockwood Jr., Bob Margolin, Willie Big Eyes Smith, Louisiana Red, Lazy Lester and Sam Lay.
And he's an original. The original songs recorded here were written by Knox literally within a day of this recording.
Knox has performed on the past three Blues Masters at the Crossroads bills. As the youngest performer on lineups chock full of legends, he's still prevailed as one of each year's most obvious favorites.
Now 18 years old, this is a kid who somehow has decided to become a dead-serious bluesman of the old-school variety. Marquise Knox is a certified throwback.
