Does Led Zeppelin IIMulti-platinum and Grammy winning San Francisco band TRAIN is set to pay homage to one of their biggest musical inspirations with the release of the first cover album of their career, LED ZEPPELIN II. The 9-track album follows the original Led Zeppelin II track listing including classic hit songs such as Ramble On and Whole Lotta Love. The band has famously covered Zeppelin their entire career in live shows. All of the band's proceeds from this album will go to their charity of record, Family House in San Francisco, of which they've been huge supporters for years.
The decision to do a Led Zeppelin cover album took shape when the band recently performed the complete Led Zeppelin II album on this year's annual Sail Across the Sun cruise. Our favorite band is Led Zeppelin, we love the band, they made a huge impression on our lives musically. So I thought, why don't we record an album just for the fun of it for our fans, said lead singer Pat Monahan. The hard part was deciding which one.$19.99Vinyl LP - Sealed Buy Now

Slow Train ComingSlow Train Coming is the 19th studio album by American singer-songwriter Bob Dylan. It was the artist's first effort since becoming a born-again Christian, and all of the songs either express his strong personal faith.
The unexpected effect of his conversion to Christianity is that it gave Dylan a focus he hadn't had since Blood on the Tracks. His concentration carries over to the music, which is lean and direct.
The album peaked at #2 on the Charts in the UK and went Platinum in the US, where it reached number 3. Slow Train Coming was listed at number 16 in the 2001 book CMM Presents: The 100 Greatest Albums in Christian Music.1. Gotta Serve Somebody

Rock And Roll JoeThe idea for Rock and Roll Joe began during Chip Taylor's Scandinavian tour of 2007. As Chip traveled through Norway and Sweden with his longtime friend and guitarist John Platania, new protege fiddler Kendel Carson, drummer Bryan Owings and bass player Ron Eoff, they talked about everything. But many of the conversations revolved around the musicians that they knew and respected and Chip realized that most music fans didn't really know the people who were behind many of the great records of the last 60 years.
With that in mind, Chip wrote the song, Rock and Roll Joe. That song prompted several more, with everyone in the band suggesting more songs in need of the spotlight. At the end of the tour back in London, the band quickly recorded the new songs and the Rock and Roll Joe album was born.
Chip Taylor and Train Wreck Records have also launched a website that will promote and honor the unsung heroes of rock music. The history of rock is filled with people such as Hank Garland and Mickey Baker who were instrumental in shaping the sound of today's best music. Yet their contributions are barely recognized. In addition to the underappreciated musicians and session players, there will also be some room to highlight the songwriters, producers and behind the scenes people who helped shape this music. No Listing Available.$17.99Vinyl LP - Sealed Buy Now

Slow Train ComingRemastered
Slow Train Coming is the nineteenth studio album by American singer-songwriter Bob Dylan, originally released on August 20, 1979, by Columbia Records. It was Dylan's first effort since converting to Christianity, and all of the songs either express his strong personal faith or stress the importance of Christian teachings and philosophy. The evangelical nature of the record alienated many of Dylan's existing fans; at the same time, many Christians were drawn into his fan base. Slow Train Coming was listed at #16 in the 2001 book CCM Presents: The 100 Greatest Albums in Christian Music.
The album was generally well-reviewed in the secular press, and the single Gotta Serve Somebody became his first hit in three years, winning Dylan the Grammy for best rock vocal performance by a male in 1980. The album peaked at #2 on the charts in the UK and went platinum in the US, where it reached #3.1. Gotta Serve Somebody (Album Version)

Originally only released on CD in 2003, a year after their mind blowing album Six Degrees Of Inner Turbulence, Train Of Thought found Dream Theater back on the heavier and straight forward side of Prog Metal.
Inspired by the audience response to Dream Theater's heavier songs while on tour Portnoy said that they wanted Train of Thought to be a balls to the wall album with heavier, darker riffing, exposing them to a number of new metal fans.
The album was written in three weeks. It was engineered by Doug Oberkircher and mixed by Kevin Shirley. Most of the album was played in concert for the Live At Budokan release.
From the album opener As I Am to the closer In The Name Of God, this essential Dream Theater album thrusts forward like an unstoppable freight train. As Thom Jurek on Allmusic summarizes: 'This is hard, heavy progressive metal at its very best lyrically and musically.'

Grab The Next TrainBorn near Detroit, Michigan, Marshall Crenshaw began playing guitar at age ten and he received his first break playing John Lennon in the off-Broadway company of Beatlemania. In 1987, he played Buddy Holly in the Richie Valens biopic "La Bamba." While living in NYC, he recorded the single "Something's Gonna Happen" for Alan Betrock's Shake Records, which led to a deal with Warner Bros. His debut album, Marshall Crenshaw was acclaimed as a pop masterpiece upon its release in 1982 and established him as a first-rate songwriter, singer and guitarist. The record spawned the Top 40 single "Someday, Someway," which rockabilly singer Robert Gordon covered and scored a hit with a year earlier, and other classics such as "(You're My) Favorite Waste of Time," "Whenever You're On My Mind" and "Cynical Girl." The great songs continued with the Life's Too Short album on MCA ("Fantastic Planet of Love"), three albums for Razor & Tie and the 2009 release Jaggedland ("Someone Told Me," "Passing Through," "Never Coming Down
A quote from Trouser Press sums up Marshall Crenshaw's early career: "Although he was seen as a latter-day Buddy Holly at the outset, he soon proved too talented and original to be anyone but himself." All Music Guide captured Crenshaw's vibe perfectly: "He writes songs that are melodic, hooky and emotionally true, and he sings and plays them with an honesty and force that still finds room for humor without venom."
"His intelligence, integrity, and passion for the great song always show up in his music," wrote Robert Christgau in his Consumer Guide of Marshall Crenshaw. Over a span of 30 years, Crenshaw has released 13 albums, all of which have received the highest marks from critics and have earned him a fiercely loyal fan base.
"I wanted to think of a different way of working that would inspire me and keep me motivated," Marshall Crenshaw says of his newest endeavor: a subscription-only service that addresses the recent seismic changes in the music-industry landscape by cutting out the record-company middle man to distribute his new recordings directly to fans.
The subscription service, which the veteran singer/guitarist/songwriter/producer recently launched via a successful Kickstarter funding campaign, will provide fans with a steady stream of new Marshall Crenshaw music via a series of exclusive three-song 10-inch, 45-rpm vinyl EPs on Addie-Ville Records, six of which the artist plans to release over a two-year period.
Each EP will consist entirely of newly recorded, never-before-released material, encompassing a new original Crenshaw composition, a classic cover tune, and a new reworking of a time-honored favorite.
"I really do think that vinyl sounds best, and that playing a vinyl record is still the optimum listening experience," Crenshaw asserts. "And with the sound quality that you get at 45 rpm, I think that these things are going to deliver the goods, sonically."
All three tracks were mastered for maximum awesomeness by legendary engineer Greg Calbi, who will handle mastering duties on the entire EP series.1. Grab The Next Train

Yonkers NYIf a songwriter of some accomplishment who is also a singer predominantly known for his work in country music was looking for a subject for a deeply personal cycle of songs, it's pretty unlikely that Yonkers, New York, a small city bordering on New York City's borough of the Bronx, would be the subject.
Not, of course, unless the writer is Chip Taylor, who grew up there. With Yonkers, NY, Taylor, a veteran songwriter whose songs have been recorded by Johnny Cash, Peggy Lee, Dusty Springfield, Aretha Franklin, Frank Sinatra, the Hollies and, of course, the Troggs (who waxed his first big hit, Wild Thing), has gone back to his childhood and adolescence and come up with eleven songs filled with warmth and humor, enlivened with spoken reminiscences and packaged with a book of lyrics and vintage photos of the people and places that are their subjects. The songs on Yonkers, NY take us into Taylor's family life and into his discovery of music, horses and girls, opening these subjects up with a skill only a master songwriter can summon.
