Too Dumb for Suicide: Tim Heidecker's Trump Songs

Vinyl Includes A Cover Of "Trump's Private Pilot" By Father John Misty

Well here it is. About one year in the making, all my Trump songs in one place. Most of these songs were written and recorded quickly, with the blood still boiling from whatever indignity or absurdity had popped up on my newsfeed that day. Certainly, Trump Tower was written in the rotten dawn, days after Trump's win. Let's hope I don't write any more of these, but I probably will. Thanks to Davin Wood for playing piano on Trump Tower, and thanks to Jonathan Rado, who produced and played on a good number of these (the ones you hear some of that beautiful tape hiss on mostly) - his tribute to Steve Nieve on Imperial Bedroom is particularly inspired. Thanks to Kane Ritchotte and Max Whipple for providing the best rhythm section a boy could ask for, and to Jordan Katz, Taylor Plenn and David Ralicke for laying down some sweet horns on Wilbur Ross. Thanks to Vic Berger for adding some backups to Sentencing Day and for usually being the first audience for these tunes. Thanks to Josh Tillman for surprising me with a tear-inducing cover of Trump's Private Pilot and for allowing us to include it here. Same goes to Andrew Bird for having me over, letting me use our live session and adding beautiful violin and harmony to Trump Talkin' Nukes.

Finally, NO thanks to Paul Simon who didn't let us include I Am A Cuck - you fucker.

    Trump Harm

Moving into their 7th full-length, Trump Harm, 31Knots are a living testament to the advantages of staying true to yourself over fleeting flash-in-the-pan glamour in an age of instant gratification. More than anything else, the sound of Trump Harm is yet another fresh take on the band's unique brand of jagged yet melodic, gritty yet graceful, grandiose punk rock. With swift directional changes, abrupt stops, and inertia-defying starts, 31Knots executes each teetering musical jerk and halt and subsequent somersault with jawdropping agility.

    Always Foreign

The World is a Beautiful Place & I am No Longer Afraid To Die have announced the forthcoming release of their third full-length, Always Foreign. Due out on Epitaph, Always Foreign follows the Connecticut-bred collective's acclaimed 2015 album Harmlessness.

Produced by TWIABP guitarist Christopher Teti, Always Foreign confronts everything from the opioid epidemic to xenophobia to emotional abuse in relationships. Throughout the album, TWIABP match their sprawling arrangements and layered lyricism with a raw emotionality.

"When we started writing we were fresh off Trump being elected, so there's an anger to the album that's different from what we've done in the past," says TWIABP vocalist David F Bello. "There's a lot more resistance thinking throughout the songs-not in a way that's strictly anti-Trump, but also addressing things like white supremacy and controlling elements of the state."

Along with Bello, Cyr, and Teti, the TWIABP lineup includes Tyler Bussey (guitar, banjo, synth, vocals), Dylan Balliett (guitar, vocals), Katie Dvorak (synth, vocals), and Steven K Buttery (percussion, vocals). Formed in Connecticut in 2009, TWIABP made their full-length debut with Whenever, If Ever (a 2013 release hailed as "revolutionary" by Pitchfork) and later delivered Harmlessness (praised as "bold and complex and dazzling" by Noisey and "grandiose and dramatic" by NPR).

All The Light Above It Too

Jack Johnson has announced that his next album is called All the Light Above It Too. The album features the slyly political lead single My Mind Is for Sale.

This album shares what has been on my mind during the past year or so, says Johnson in a statement. A year in which I sailed through the North Atlantic Gyre -- a circular system of ocean currents -- for a documentary about plastic pollution in the ocean. A year in which [Donald] Trump was elected as the President of the United States.

A year in which I camped, surfed, got stitches, explored, dreamed, shared time and endless conversations with my family and friends, he continues. All of which inspired these songs.

    Push Pull

Ten million albums sold worldwide, countless top-notch chart positions and a hit that seems as fresh as ever: when newcomers Hoobastank released their second album / smash hit The Reason in 2003, the rock world held its breath in awe. Nowadays, Hoobastank are still going strong as one of the biggest American rock acts of our time, and are set to release their most varied and thrilling effort so far: their sixth full length Push Pull, lovingly fine-tuned by legendary producer Matt Wallace (Faith No More, Maroon 5). The feather-light hooks of 'More Beautiful' will have you enamored in seconds, whilst the compelling chorus of 'True Believer' pulls you in for a tight embrace. The title track is brimming with pop goodness and displays the band`s versatility, while 'We Don`t Need The World', with its balladesque undertones, plays Hoobastank`s iconic trump card and rounds off an album that easily is one of the strongest of this much-praised hit factory!

    KULT 45 (Pre-Order)

Iconic rockers OTEP recently announced details regarding their most uncompromising, candid, all-inclusive and controversial assessment of the current residing political regime that they have ever released. OTEP will release their eighth full-length album, aptly titled KULT 45, via Napalm Records.

Drawing influences from politically-charged recording artists of the past but allowing her artwork to remain fully and undeniably OTEP, Otep Shamaya continues her nearly two-decade invasion of the senses with KULT 45.

Today, OTEP dropped their first single from KULT 45 - a hyper-political outcry to the Resistance to challenge Trump's falsehoods and hypocrisies - entitled "To the Gallows". The track is streaming now via Billboard, alongside the first in-depth interview Otep Shamaya has taken part in since the announcement of KULT 45. Listen to the groovy, in-your-face track and read the interview here:

"Art is resistance. Art allows us to fight back without violence. This song, TO THE GALLOWS, is meant to shine a light on Traitor Trump's attacks on the Constitution, on Healthcare, on the LGBTQplus, the African American, Hispanic and Muslim communities, DREAMERS, and women's reproductive rights. Not to mention that this spurious President might have committed just a little bit of light treason, but this is why we rally, this is why march, and this is why I write. Because when I look back someday I want to know that I did everything in my power as an artist, activist and citizen, to stop him and his bigoted embryonic autocracy."

Throughout the span of her career, Otep Shamaya has been an undeniable force in bringing awareness via various acclaimed mediums to the social and political injustices felt by various communities and subcultures. For years, publications such as Revolver Magazine have lauded Shamaya for "following in the footsteps of outspoken musicians from folk singer Woody Guthrie to Rage Against The Machine's Zach de la Rocha", dubbing her "one of music's catalysts for social change". So, with the political climate as it is today, now it's the perfect time to impact with KULT 45.

Shamaya has gone on record to say that KULT 45 is the most authentic album OTEP has ever released, at least since their first record, and self-producing it helped achieve this result. KULT 45 was recorded at The Lair in Los Angeles, completely utilizing the same equipment used for OTEP's first album, Sevas Tra (down to Shamaya's vocal microphone, a SHURE Beta 58), in order to create a sound reminiscent of their roots. KULT 45 was self-produced by the Otep Shamaya and Aristotle, with assistant engineering from Larry Goetz, Nicolas Schilke and Lizzy Ostro.

Actual Cover With Joey Bada$$ Leaning Out Of Car Is Concealed By Special Outer American Flag Sleeve

Joey Bada$$ has been teasing the title of his sophomore album for a few months now, having previously only given fans an acronym: AABA. The Brooklyn-born rapper took to Twitter to reveal the full title, ALL-AMERIKKKAN BADA$$.

A short, 30-second teaser for the album shows Joey walking through a dusty desert dragging a baseball bat, as images of a burning cross and children playing in a field flash across the screen. As the faint final strands of the Star Spangled Banner echo through the desert, Joey winds up and uses the bat to smash a glass plate painted with the American flag, before the album title and release date are revealed.

The title recalls both Ice Cube's classic 1990 solo debut AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted and the debut mixtape from Joey's friend, close collaborator and Pro Era co-founder Capital Steez, who released the project AmeriKKKan Korruption in 2012 before his untimely death the night before Christmas Eve that year.

AABA will be Joey's second official album, following the release of his debut LP B4.Da.$$. He's been gearing up for the release of the album with the singles Land of the Free, an excellent politically- and socially-charged track that takes aim at Donald Trump (among others), and the 2016 cut Devastated, which gave Joey his first gold plaque.

Savage (Songs from a Broken World)

Marking Numan's 22nd full-length of his career, Savage follows 2013's Splinter (Songs From a Broken Mind). Produced by Ade Fenton and recorded in Los Angeles and the UK, the record was largely written during the last presidential election. Trump's victory and climate policies became Numan's twisted inspiration, leading to a concept album set in a post-global warming apocalypse. A press release describes the concept best:

There is no technology left and most of the planet has turned to a desolate desert wasteland. Food is scarce, water even more so, and human kindness and decency are just a dim and distant memory. Western and Eastern cultures have merged, more because of the need to simply survive than any feelings of greater tolerance or understanding. It's a harsh, savage environment, as are the survivors who still roam across it.

The songs are about the things that people do in such a harsh and terrifying environment, Numan said in a statement. It's about a desperate need to survive and they do awful things in order to do so, and some are haunted by what they've done. That desire to be forgiven, along with some discovered remnants of an old religious book, ultimately encourages religion to resurface, and it really goes downhill from there.

The title Villains isn't a political statement. It has nothing to do with Trump or any of that shit. It's simply 1) a word that looks fantastic and 2) a comment on the three versions of every scenario: yours, mine and what actually happened Everyone needs someone or something to rail against-their villain-same as it ever was. You can't control that. The only thing you can really control is when you let go.-Joshua Homme

Hundreds of epic shows, memory lapses, unexplained injuries, one yearlong detour with Iggy Pop and multiple Grammy nominations later, Queens Of The Stone Age reemerge from the desert newly scarred and somehow strangely prettier with lucky seventh album, Villains, set for release on Matador Records.

Produced by Mark Ronson and co-produced by Mark Rankin and mixed by Alan Moulder, Villains is the first full album offering from Queens Of The Stone Age since 2013's Like Clockwork gave the band its first #1 albumin the U.S. Like the stunning artwork of returning illustrator Boneface, the sonic signatures of the lineup that took Like Clockwork around the world and back are as unmistakable as ever, though coexisting with sufficient new twists to induce recurring double takes. As Homme himself puts it, The most important aspect of making this record was redefining our sound, asking and answering the question 'what do we sound like now?' If you can't make a great first record, you should just stop-but if you can make a great record but you keep making records and your sound doesn't evolve, you become a parody of that original sound.

Longtime Queens cohort co-producer Mark Rankin added, After the baptism of fire that was Like Clockwork,I was excited to get into the studio again with the challenge of pushing the sound for this record, especially with the addition of Ronson into the creative mix What we've made is forward looking yet unmistakably Queens.

    Tackle Box

Contains Bonus Live CD With Career-Spanning Tracks

The title of the album is Tackle Box. Why? Because it's a catchy metaphor for the anxiety-induced, claustrophobic spirit that the country now inhabits? Get it? Tackle, like football, and boxing, aggressive, confrontational sports like the historical period we currently, um, 'enjoy'? Yes, but.....is it more specific to the White House and the tense, argumentative dictator-like relationship that Trump has with all that surround him? His wife, business associates, foreign leaders, staff and media? Yes, but ... is it called Tackle Box as a thinly disguised allusion to the torment and conflicted dialogue I wrestle with between my ears on a minute to minute basis? There's that, yup... but maybe I'm just saying it's time to go to the mat and deal hands-on with this oppression? Okay sure, but really it's called Tackle Box because it's got so many hooks!

I'm pretty lucky to do what I do in this life - writing these songs and being able to perform them to appreciative audiences around the world. Never let it be said that dreams don't come true! And I kinda enjoy every aspect, the writing, traveling, recording, rehearsing and performing. But this album in particular, which was basically recorded all by myself in my high-security, bunker-like isolated home studio, felt particularly personal, maybe some kind of spiritual blood-letting if you will. Catharsis! A semi-humorous approach to some crazy political times! I had a lot of fun making it, it induced some much needed laughs. Hope you feel the same. Enjoy!

    Music

Released on the heels of her breakthrough, Tapestry, Carole Kings Music is every bit the equal of its more famous predecessor, a Number One smash that features impeccable songwriting, infallible melodies, and extraordinary piano playing. In short, everything thats made King an institution. After of years of being overshadowed, this 1971 singer-songwriter classic has finally been given the audiophile treatment its long deserved.

Half-speed mastered from the original master tapes, Mobile Fidelitys numbered limited-edition 180g LP of Kings second solo masterpiece is rife with intimacy, transparency, soulfulness, and you-are-there sound. Never before remastered, Music seems like a brand-new album, Kings familiar voice, intelligent arrangements, and ravishing support band presented on a deep, three-dimensional soundstage. Your appreciation for and understanding of Kings inspirational lyrics and ravishing performances will increase tenfold. Mobile Fidelitys 180g LP brings you that much closer.

Accompanied by percussionist Bobbye Hall, drummer Russ Kinkel, guitarist/vocalist James Taylor, and a cavalcade of professional wind musicians, King delves further into R&B and jazz-derived pop, coming up aces every time. Warm, intelligent, and cohesive, songs echo with simplicity and honesty. And as is typical of much of Kings work, several of tunes here were later covered by other artists, including Its Going To Take Some Time (the Carpenters). Yet the originals trump the later renditions, and the rendition of the standard Some Kind of Wonderful stands as the best ever recorded.

With Taylor lending more of a hand on Music than he does on Tapestry, King expands her confident reach on the piano and peppers the songs with graceful touches of saxophone, flute, pedal-steel guitar, and woodwinds. Ballads sway (Surely), gospel brightness lifts spirits (Brighter), and backup vocals float heavenly pop (Song of Long Ago). Yet the best aspect is Kings voice, infused with fondness, concern, joy, and a quiet power that parallels the delicacy and deliberate nature that define Music.

Mobile Fidelitys audiophile edition is free of the limiting artifacts that have helped keep this record in the dark for the better part of the past few decades. Previously diminished, acoustic guitars, subtle brass elements, and soft percussion contribute to the enjoyment of the songs, and Kings voice pleasant, assuring, emotion comes through with incredible clarity and inflection. The brilliance of the legendary Lou Adlers original production is restored to its full glory.

If its at all possible and it is this treasure now sounds even more heartwarming than it did upon original release. The companion to Tapestry, Music is an aural and sonic delight.

    Full Circle Nightmare

Ever since his debut album Dolls of Highland was
released on Sub Pop in 2016, Kyle Craft has been
a critic's dream. Based in Portland, he serves up
all the observational, storytelling talent with none
of the attitude that so often comes with male
singer-songwriter territory. "I've found my place,"
he says. "I'm not one of those people that
approaches music for anyone other than myself.
My favorite part about music is when it's just me
and a notebook." Speaking of, his second
forthcoming album Full Circle Nightmare is
    entirely autobiographical. Sonically, thematically,
lyrically, it's a huge leap forward from his 2016
    release.

The title Full Circle Nightmare refers to a moment
where Craft saw his life for what it is and told
himself to be satisfied. "But that's nightmarish to
me," he laughs. He described his debut record as:
"like walking down this long hall of bizarre
    characters and surreal experiences, moving
through the spider web of love and loss." This
album is when you get to the end of that hallway,
turn around and see all the stuff you've been
through, then walk through the door, close it and
start a new chapter in an even crazier hallway. A
straight-up rollicking rock'n'roll album, it traverses
all the different nuances of the genre; from the
bluegrass twang of 'Exile Rag,' to the gothic style
of 'Gold Calf Moan,' it's a timeless piece that could
exist in any of the past five decades.

In terms of contemporary peers, Craft likes to stay
in his own lane. He's an old soul who sticks to his
tried and tested influences. Social media is not
his game - it's just not interesting to him. He's not
fussed about preaching his politics or discussing
the status quo either. "I don't really like writing a
time piece. I don't wanna get trapped in the
'Donald Trump era of Kyle Craft,' you know? I'm a
very off-the-grid sort of person. As much as I am
traveling across this giant place sometimes I just
feel so outside of it. Also, I'm not necessarily a
stand-up citizen so it's hard for me to say: here's
Kyle Craft's America, ladies and gentlemen."
The ironic thing is that Full Circle Nightmare
sounds exactly like Kyle Craft's America. That is
what he's built for us: the story of one man's trials
and tribulations to find his passion and voice for
art and creativity in this vast opportunistic
country. Where did he find it? Among the historic
riches of America's most honest sounds.

    Santana (Awaiting Repress)

    Numbered, Limited Edition

Deluxe 45RPM Version Features Extra-Wide Grooves: Richest, Most Dynamic and Realistic Sound of Any Version

Lyrical, Splendorous, Rapturous, Psychedelic, and Bluesy Debut Set a New Musical Standard: Experience This Paradigm the Way the Artist Intended

Ranked #149 on Rolling Stone's List of the Greatest Albums of All Time

Santana's self-titled debut album announces the arrival of a new Guitar God. Made during the legendary bandleader's most fruitful and creative period, the classic 1969 set functions as an accessible entry point into the tangy worlds of Latin music by way of an intoxicating blend of Afro-Cuban percussion, jazzy tempos, exotic leads, bluesy riffs, and psychedelic accents. Befitting such a classic, Mobile Fidelity's 45RPM 2LP version of this epic work presents the music in the richest, most dynamic and realistic sound it's ever enjoyed.

Improving upon the label's critically acclaimed 180g LP pressing, this deluxe 45RPM set is mastered from the original master tapes and overflows with the information, textures, and colors afforded by wider grooves. The result: Spacious, airy, and you-are-there sonics that trump all prior versions. In addition to correcting the imaging, Mobile Fidelity's collectable version captures the full tonal range of Santana's guitar and nuances of his distinctive touch. It all brings you closer to the music and enhances your emotional connection to this stellar album.

Indeed, separation between Carlos Santana's fluid fills, spicy solos, and broiling grooves and pianist Gregg Rolie's soulful Hammond organ runs allows the music to come alive with a newfound freshness and radiance. Songs simmer, with each passage bursting forth with vibrant color. Just like the equally essential follow-up Abraxas, Santana also lays claim to one of the biggest (and unfortunate) production gaffes in music history. Until Mobile Fidelity fixed the error with its 180g LP and 24K Gold releases, Santana had never been heard correctly.

For nearly four decades, copies were produced with the left and right channels reversed, meaning that everything was placed in a backwards manner. This even extended to compilations on which individual songs from Santana were included. Rest assured that, in addition to boasting reference audiophile sonics, this 180g 45RPM 2LP set gets all the specifications exactly right. And with a record of this magnitude, you want everything to be perfect.

Bound by natural chemistry and earthy spirituality, the record's innovative synthesis of myriad styles goes beyond anything that came before-as well as nearly everything that's followed. Playing with the finest band that the iconic guitarist ever had, Santana doesn't water down any exotic roots or simply incorporate mainstream Western styles into a Latin framework. This is a true hybrid, responsible for opening up borders, transcending cultural divides, and, most importantly, exhilarating the senses.

Released weeks before the band blew minds at Woodstock, the groundbreaking record stands alongside Miles Davis' Bitches Brew and Jeff Beck's Beck-Ola as a pillar of rock fusion. Featuring the Top Ten radio smash "Evil Ways" and jam favorite "Soul Sacrifice," it hasn't aged a day. Hear like never before why Rolling Stone says Santana is #149 on its list of the Greatest Albums of All Time.

Now on 180 gram vinyl and re-mastered from the original master tapes, Goodbye Cruel World includes the single "The Only Flame In Town," and "Peace In Our Time.

Elvis Costello wasn't in a happy place when he began writing Goodbye Cruel World. His marriage collapsed between the record's start and finish. He was also dealing with what he deems the dreadful 80s-a period in which the importance of videos trumped musical merit, the government in his native England engaged in controversial conflicts, and nuclear threats hovered over daily life like a black cloud. After only 2 studio albums, Rory Gallagher released Live! in Europe in 1972. Considered a landmark live album, the record - then containing 7 tracks - became Rory's 1st gold record. Heavily influenced by the likes of Woody Guthrie, Bill Broonzy and Leadbelly, Rory taught himself to play the mandolin, acoustic guitar, harmonica and also mastered the slide. After discovering the electric blues of Muddy Waters he started experimenting with different styles.

After Gallagher's band Taste broke up (he recorded 2 studio & 2 live albums with Taste) Rory toured under his own name and recorded 'Rory Gallagher' and 'Deuce' with his power trio, featuring bassist Gerry McAvoy (whom stayed in his band for 20 years) and drummer Wilgar Campbell.
    >p>
Rory Gallagher won his greatest acclaim with his marathon live shows and was voted 'Melody Maker's Top Musician of the Year' in 1972, trumping Eric Clapton. It's his live shows which captured the raw energy of his songs, Rory insisted, and therefore, he released a number of live albums. Live! In Europe contain the 'definitive versions' of some of his well known songs and is an instant classic, which seamlessly blends folk, acoustic blues & blues-rock.

He came from the 'Land Of The Midnight Sun', sparkled on the jazz-rock stage as an 'Elegant Gypsy', came up trumps in the 'Casino' with all the right chords and melodies, and his 'Splendido Hotel' was the number one address for fusion fans around the globe. He finally achieved immortality together with John McLaughlin and Paco de Lucia on 'Friday Night In San Francisco'. From his early days as a rising star i right up to the present day, he has continually managed to refine his qualities: breathtakingly fast picking, skillful percussion effects the like of which had never been heard before, the effortlessness with which he can instantly switch from muscular axe-man rock to spinning gentle, romantic webs of melody. In the nineties, inspired by his love of the acoustic sounds of Latin America and the works of nuevo tango pioneer Astor Piazzolla, he made some delightful chamber music recordings.

On more recent albums all these penchants, influences and musical movements have fused into an unmistakable sound. 'Elysium' is the climax of this process so far. The artist has arrived where he always wanted to be. He himself thinks of Elysium as a 'place of perfect happiness'. A paradise where acoustic and electric components, triumphant rock and finely entwined jazz, delicate and pumping rhythms, guitars and keyboards, wide panoramas of rock and diaphanous carpets of sound come together in harmony. The gates to paradise for guitar aficionados are open to everyone - with 'Elysium.'

When Count Basie returned to Verve Records in 1962, Neal Hefti was contracted to write the tunes and arrangements, a revival of their partnership from the 1958 Roulette LP Basie Plays Hefti. While none of these selections is as famous as his songs like Cute, Little Pony, Splanky, Li'l Darlin', and Repetition, the substantial originality of this music is hard to deny, not to mention that the expert musicians playing his music bring these tracks fully to life in a livelier fashion than most laid-back Basie studio sessions. In fact, it has the feeling of a concert date that trumps the more clean, controlled environment of a session that was recorded on a three-track reel-to-reel. There's also plenty of room for exceptional solos from most of the participants, as Hefti is mindful of who is in the band and how each musician might sound when given his head.

This is tried and true swing-oriented modern big-band music that actually sounds advanced for its time frame, and is solid as anything Basie has done post-April in Paris. The band is atypically bold and brazen on the opener, I'm Shoutin' Again, with Frank Wess on alto (not tenor) sax for his spirited solo. The great chart of Jump for Johnny is a hard bopper for Johnny Carson, basic Basie with tenor saxophonist Frank Foster and trumpeter Sonny Cohn trading licks. Hefti's best work is showcased during Together Again, as the hopping brass and singing horns take tuneful twists and turns. This set also includes the classic track The Long Night, a famous blues featuring the sly flute of Wess in front of the horn section and a masterful muted solo by trumpeter Thad Jones. There are other tunes that are derivative, as you can clearly hear the borrowed phrases of C Jam Blues/Duke's Place in the low-key then blasted-out Eee Dee, Shiny Stockings sprinkled about during the more typical laid-back Rose Bud, and Groove Merchant or Hallelujah, I Just Love Him So in the easy-swinging soul groove of Ain't That Right. Hefti's movie soundtrack experience comes to the fore on Shanghaied, definite spy music with Cohn's muted trumpet masking phobias and paranoia. There are two cute tunes: Skippin' with Skitch, led by three flutes (Wess, Eric Dixon, and Charlie Fowlkes); and the lightly strutting Ducky Bumps, featuring Henry Coker's trombone, with brief solos from Basie's piano and bassist Buddy Catlett.

A solid and worthwhile album that has been out of print for far too long, this will be a welcome addition to any Basie lover's collection, and comes highly recommended to anyone even mildly interested in excellent large-ensemble mainstream jazz.

    Death After Life

Death After Life, Thug Entrancer's debut for Software Recording Co. is
a deliberately realized collection of dance experimentation and hybridized
electronic music with narrow stylistic precedents. It's also a gripping, somber
tide formed from the gravitational pull of an artist's amble through unknown
    turfs.

Ryan McRyhew's footing as a creative lynchpin in the Denver DIY
electronic music scene shued to the other world and beat of the South side
of Chicago in 2011. McRyhew's new home allowed him secluded time and
space to create in-depth and unconditional music as Thug Entrancer. The
move also provided McRyhew direct access to Chicago's dance music history
and the groundbreaking works being crafted in bedrooms and blasted on
    speakers throughout his neighborhood.

A summation of varied approaches to electronic music, Thug Entrancer's
multiverse is not dissimilar to other Software artists (Slava and Huerco S.,
for example). McRyhew draws inuence from pioneering electronic and
experimental composers who placed an emphasis on extended development
and technique, alongside early analog dance producers who went all-out and
all-in with little more than a TR-808 in their arsenal.

Death After Life is comprised of eight chapters drawn from the album title,
each numbered I through VIII. These portions underscore a pitch-dark
motif thread throughout the album's fty minutes. Death After Life I is
whittled and icy - long echoed claps and panned sawtooth shapes swelter
around the skittering percussive elements over the four-and-half-minutes of
    unsettled, environmental shifting.

Death After Life III delivers rapid-re, straight up acid with a snare heavy rhythm registering in an upper BPM range before fraying into the
sonic beyond.  Death After Life V frenetically lashes out with hi-hat
triplets, lower mix perimeter synths and pounding claps / snare at a
    breakneck footwork pace.

The album's nal cut is the most up-front Juke number. Altogether shorn of
the more abstract spaces heard earlier, "Death After Life VIII" attacks with
the feel of a live, improvised performance. In fact, the majority of the tracks
on Death A!er Life were composed on the y with very few overdubs and
    zero reliance on sampled sources.

While Death After Life reframes elements of Chicago Juke and house in
long-form design, the end result one in which a subtler horizon is discovered,
trumping more palatable musical codes and dissuading us from treating
electronic music, or any genre-stamped style matter, with rote attention.

Elvis Costello Goodbye Cruel World on Numbered Limited Edition 180g LP from Mobile Fidelity

1984 Album Produced by Top Production Team of Clive Langer and Alan Winstanley: Several Songs Enhanced With Top-Flight Horn Arrangements

Mastered from the Original Master Tapes: Mobile Fidelity 180g LP is the Sonically Definitive Version

Costello and the Attractions Survive Dreadful 80s With Songs Concerning Loss, Identity, and Matters of the Heart

Part of Mobile Fidelity's Elvis Costello Reissue Series: Singer-Songwriter's First Eleven Studio Albums Available on Sumptuously Sounding 180g LP

What possible good came out of the age? A smart batch of songs that stands up to many of the singer-songwriter's better-known works and an underrated record that now sounds better than ever.

Mastered from the original master tapes and pressed on 180g LP at RTI, this collectable edition of Goodbye Cruel World joins Mobile Fidelity's acclaimed Costello reissues series in presenting the icon's most vital records in rich, dynamic, three-dimensional analog sound. Akin to many albums from the era, Goodbye Cruel World was hampered by bright, slick textures on the original pressings and digital counterparts. Here, Costello's fare is revealed to possess a warmer, more organic and intimate character. Costello's voice, as well as his band's nimble rhythms and Steve Nieve's R&B-spiked piano, occupy their own spaces amidst a wide, unconstrained soundstage.

The improvements rendered by this numbered, limited-edition LP bring significantly new perspective to Costello's mordantly witty songs addressing everything from stark romantic loss to erotic desire. Produced by the hit-making team of Clive Langer and Alan Winstanley, Goodbye Cruel World reflects the polish of the day in places but now reveals a deeper soulfulness, grit, and honesty. Such aspects particularly come to fore on multiple tunes featuring saxophonists Gary Barnacle, trombonist Jim Paterson, and percussionist Luis Jardim-the very first guests ever welcomed on an Attractions album.

With added instrumental assistance, Costello and Co. traverse styles ranging from rambunctious new-wave rock (The Deportees Club) to frisky New Orleans-derived blues (Sour Milk Cow Blues) to suave, jazzy pop (The Only Flame In Town). In the closing Peace In Our Time, a sobering albeit optimistic song whose verses still apply to contemporary times, Costello crafts the finale to a socio-politically conscious trilogy that began with Shipbuilding and Pills and Soap. It alone is the worth the price of admission to a record that's long deserved a better reputation and, with Mobile Fidelity's reissue, finally gets its just desserts.

Black Grape return with the brand new album 'Pop Voodoo,' which is set for release via MCA Records. The album showcases the band's first new material in 20 years and is sure to reinstate them as one of the most influential bands of all time.

Album opener and tease track 'Everything You Know Is Wrong - Intro' sees the band launching into a statement of intent and the return of Shaun Ryder's lyrical wit, which this time sees him taking sharp aim at Donald Trump. The forthcoming album is a testament to Ryder's reigning social and political commentary.

Ryder and Kermit have teamed up with producer Youth (Martin Glover) on this album, who has previously worked with the likes of The Verve, U2, Primal Scream, Guns N' Roses, Pink Floyd and Depeche Mode to name but a few.

Widely regarded as one of the most innovative and iconic bands of the last twenty years, Black Grape have had 4 Top 10 singles and their debut album, 'It's Great When You're Straight Yeah', shot straight to No.1 in the UK charts upon its release in 1995 and went Platinum.

    American Fall

Anti-Flag's new studio album, American Fall, follows 2015's well-received American Spring. With Good Charlotte's Benji Madden on board as co-producer, the band has intensified their signature anthemic style with bigger melodies, tighter songcraft, and thicker guitars. American Fall is bold - both musically and politically - and Anti-Flag's time is now.

American Fall is set for release via Spinefarm Records and as expected, it addresses issues facing America today like only Anti-Flag can:

"The politics of distraction influences people to lose focus on what makes a positive impact on their lives and the world," the band said about the new album. "It encourages people to make choices that are not in their best interest and reduces society's ability to make progressive change.

"The American Fall is our rejection of this harmful distraction. At this crucial moment in history, we must focus on pushing past the status quo to create a better and more just world. We reject the proliferation of exploitation, racism, bigotry, and socioeconomic injustice that dominate the policies of Donald Trump, just as we renounce the neoliberal status quo that came before him."
