ProcessSampha hails from Morden, south London and has spent the
last six years generously dividing his musical talents across
solo and collaborative work. In addition to his own revered solo
releases (his debut Sundanza EP, 2013's Dual EP and "Too Much
/ Without You" single), Sampha contributed majorly to SBTRKT's
acclaimed debut and follow up Wonder Where We Land as cowriter
and featured vocalist, and went on to tour worldwide as
half of the SBTRKT live show (spanning Glastonbury, Primavera,
Coachella, Brixton Academy, Terminal 5...)
Equally in demand as a songwriter, singer, producer and player,
Sampha has been sampled by and produced for Drake ("The Motion"
and "Too Much ft Sampha"), Kanye West ("Saint Pablo ft

and FKA twigs (LP1 standout "Numbers") and Solange's "Don't

Thanks For Stickin' With TwigGold Colored Vinyl
Thank You For Stickin' With Twig is the latest long-playing
album from the artist known to the world (or at least to
his mother) as Slim Twig. Coming out July 14th, 2015 on
DFA, you may be surprised to know that it represents the
fifth album by the Toronto based songwriter / producer.
Twig has released these previous records among a swath
of EP's, singles and one-offs, displaying in the process a
complete disregard for genre or consistency. The evolution
from Contempt!, his sample-stained 2009 debut, through
to A Hound At The Hem, his symphonic tribute album to
Nabokov's Lolita (reissued by DFA in 2014), is not entirely
linear, although intriguing all the same. Like so many surfsmoothed
stones lining the beach shore, briefly unburied
only to be discarded once deemed un-skippable, so Twig
has gone about seeking the proper rock to cast at just
the right angle. One can see why he extends a gratuity to
those listeners who've stuck around.
Thank You For Stickin' With Twig is to date the most
sonically immersive album in Twig's discography. Where
some records have focused explicitly on sample-based
songwriting, while others have been completely liverecorded,
the new album arrives at a perfectly produced
fusion of fidelities. It hovers, glamorously caught between
a cloud of obscurant, half-speed tape hiss, and the most
stoned Jeff Lynne production you've ever heard. Twig
flirts here with a variety of vibes, most often opting for a
three dimensional approach whereby a warped tape aura
is overlaid with colourful, laser-cut keyboard and guitar
melodies. A fetishization of analogue texture is married to
a digital approach. All the while, we find Twig irreverently
raiding classic rock of its symbolism, sexuality, and social
ambition for ulterior subversions. In this respect, TYFSWT's
closest cousin may be Royal Trux's Accelerator.1. Slippin' Slidin'

Ironto SpecialLimited Edition
Ironto Special is an album of traditional Appalachian old-time tunes (and two originals) that the Black Twig Pickers learned through study of both local old-time musicians and old-time records and field recordings. The instrumentation is all-acoustic and features some of the old-time usuals, fiddle/banjo/guitar, and some less-routinely-heard-in-today's-old-time-scene implements like washboard, bones, fiddlesticks, mouth harp and jaw harp. Plus (on one song) a one-of-a-kind baritone resonator 12-string guitar.
Old-time music served, and continues to serve, a variety of functions in Appalachian life from dance music to somber solo performance to raggier blues and everything in between. Ironto Special is an attempt to celebrate this variety in the old-time tradition through the band's process of learning and growth as they explore the music's many facets.
Recorded throughout 2009 in the Shred Shed in Ironto, Virginia, Ironto Special is entirely recorded in single takes. There are no overdubs on the record in any form. Ironto Special is the Black Twig Pickers contribution to the continuously flowing tradition that will eventually be passed on to the next generation of players.1. Don't Drink Nothing But Corn

Clairaudience FellowshipLimited Edition
Clairaudience Fellowship is the new album from Twig Harper and Daniel Higgs, two legendary forces in the realms of experimental/noise/rock/out music.
Twig Harper is a performer and electronic sound artist who began playing guerrilla-and punk-style shows with Scheme, Mini-Systems and Nautical Almanac in the milleu of Wolf Eyes, Andrew W.K. and others involved in the Bulb/Hanson 90s noise/total music movement in Ann Arbor, MI. Moving first to Chicago and then to Baltimore, he has toured widely in the US (five multi-month tours) and Europe (twice) with Carly Ptak and others. With Ptak, he has released many recordings and co-founded the influential Tarantula Hill venue-compound. His music and performances have been characterized generally by an incredible sense of trickery and playfulness, even foolishness, but in earnest and with careful consideration.
Daniel Higgs is a musician and artist from Baltimore, Maryland on whose behalf superlatives are destined to fail. It's not that his artistic output spanning three decades, numerous albums, books of poetry and collections of drawings simply eludes classification, it defies it. Higgs is known for his work as the sole lyricist and frontman of the band Lungfish, a four-piece enshrined as one of America's last true folk bands, and Higgs anointed as a patron saint to artistic purity. That the band has undertaken this pursuit in the guise of a humble rock outfit, in the absence of any public relations fanfare, metanarrative, or manifesto has been enough to endear them to tens of thousands. In recent years, Higgs has released a number of solo outings that can only be described as the ultimate in isolation, worlds away from the hypnotic, communal rock of his band. UNIM-TOM-2110xA Broken Consort
Box Of BirchRichard Skelton is an artist from Lancashire in the UK. He started his Sustain-Release Private Press in 2005 as a commemorative tribute to his late wife Louise, with the intention of publishing her artwork alongside his own musical offerings. Since its inception he has released a slew of raw, beautiful recordings presented in lovingly-assembled, individualised editions. Operating under a variety of guises, including Heidika, Carousell, Harlassen and Clouwbeck, Skelton creates powerful, instrumental music out of densely-layered acoustic guitar, bowed strings, piano, mandolin and accordion, often laced with delicate, shimmering percussion. The result is something utterly unique, a music which is both life-affirming and yet etched with memory and loss, evoking equal parts Arvo PÄrt and Ry Cooder, Nick Drake and Henryk Górecki.
It is with A Broken Consort, perhaps, that Skelton most-assuredly draws these elements together, creating an ever-changing drift of rich textures and interleaved melody that effortlessly evokes the landscapes which inspired it. Box Of Birch, his second album in this guise, was originally published in a boxed edition that contained, among other things, birch twigs collected from the West Pennine Moors. For Skelton these things act as a synecdoche for the landscape itself, a physical connection to the places in which much of his music is recorded. In this new edition for Tompkins Square, Skelton has created an exclusive series of artworks which draw on the hidden histories of the English landscape, and their narratives of displacement and loss. The result is something which perfectly complements the music whilst adding another dimension, providing a fuller picture of the artists vision.1. A Sundering Path

Keep Away The DeadEven as Siskiyou's first record was delivered to Constellation in early 2010 and getting prepped for release that fall, Colin Huebert remained holed up in Mara, BC (pop. 350) through the winter, writing more songs and eventually being joined by his Siskiyou co-conspirator Erik Arnesen for a few weeks of intensive recording. Unlike the material on their eponymous debut, which was largely recorded in nomadic fashion while Colin and Erik toured as members of Great Lake Swimmers, the Mara, BC sessions found the pair settled, rooted and with keys in hand to the century-old Mara Community Hall.
Most of the tunes on Keep Away The Dead were born at Mara Hall, where bed tracks were laid down in the crisp air during depth of winter. The arctic atmosphere of that empty, cavernous, hardwood structure was the perfect complement to Huebert's sensibility: a tense and acute restraint; a shivering, biting, sometimes bitter rending of barebones, folk-inflected rock music. (Neil Young remains a clear touchstone, overtly so with the album's cover of Revolution Blues as do the pointed, starkly controlled arrangements and textures of contemporaries like Angels Of Light.)
Huebert left Mara in spring 2010 and moved to Vancouver, where Siskiyou began to take shape as a full band with the addition of Shaunn Watt and Peter Carruthers. Coming off a season of extensive touring in Euope and Canada in fall 2010, Siskiyou had coalesced into an incisive quartet and hit Vancouver's JC/DC Studio in early 2011 with engineer David Carswell (Destroyer, New Pornographers), adding to the previous year's Mara sessions and cutting two more tunes for which Carswell ran the mix: Twigs And Stones and Revolution Blues. Huebert recorded and mixed the remainder of Keep Away The Dead (as he did on the previous record).
Where Siskiyou's debut was a stunning little scrapbook of short, sharp tunes, Keep Away The Dead ramps things up with subtle care and clarity, yielding something closer to a rural gothic novella in spirit and scope. The album is a strikingly cold-eyed, tender-hearted song cycle, marked by quiet defiance and desperation. Huebert's acoustic guitar and gently acetic voice, Arnesen's gorgeous banjo and treated guitar lines, and the judicious rhythm section of Watt and Carruthers deliver a superbly compelling album on the knife's edge of darkness, where each tune feels like another precious log thrown on a lone campfire burning in the cold night.1. Jesus I'm A SinnerJesus I'm a Sinner is the 4th LP by Daniel Bachman. The album was recorded in Rappahannock County Virginia at Forrest Marquisee's studio inside his
father's woodshop in May of 2013 after spending just around 8 months on the road.
The first song Sarah Anne is a song for one of his best friends and sister Sarah Anne Bachman, and is also his first full song for the lap guitar.
Honeysuckle Reel is a springtime tune. For that first day when the heat and humidity sets in and the smell of the honeysuckle bloom creeps in your open
windows driving. Happy One Step is a guitar/fiddle duet with Sally Morgan of the Black Twig Pickers/The Freight Hoppers. It is a Cajun tune by Dennis
McGee. Jesus I'm a Sinner is for cutting loose. Variation on Goose Chase is a version of Virgil Anderson's Goose Chase. Although attempted to adapt to
the guitar, playing it on the banjo was the only way to keep the feel of the original version.
Under the Shade of the Trees has the undertone and drone of the 17 year cicada hatch that hit Virginia summer of 2013. The title is taken from Stonewall
Jackson's last words on his deathbed Let us cross over the river, and rest under the shade of the trees. Chattanooga is played by Sally Anne Morgan
(fiddle) and Charlie Devine (banjo). This version was taken from Blaine Smith. Blenheim is the name of the LatanÉ family's property in Westmorland Co.

Gold and StoneThe Roanoke, Virginia based noise pop, power rock trio, Eternal Summers will release their fourth full-length album "Gold and Stone." Having formed in 2009, Eternal Summers has now been operating as the trio of Nicole Yun, Daniel Cundiff and Jonathan Woods longer then they did as a duo without Jonathan. Gone are the days of the Roanoke based collective known as the Magic Twig Community that saw the handful of like-minded indie artists working together; but what has grown in its place is a band that stands firmly on its own. In the words of All Music, "The kind that other bands will look to for inspiration 20 years later."
With several previous releases, there has already been a lot said about Eternal Summers music. From the crafty minimalism on their debut Silver, to the dream punk sheen on 2012's breakout Correct Behavior, to the guitar driven power on The Drop Beneath, the evolution of Eternal Summers marks a band that embraces both anthemic rock and bittersweet ballads- a band that is grounded in jangle pop but with an added depth that rewards on repeated listens.
For Gold and Stone, Eternal Summers returned to the site of last year's well-received The Drop Beneath, Resonate Studio in Austin, TX and back into the very adept hands of engineer and mixer Louie Lino to create an album that ventures beyond the pop immediacy of their previous albums. Nicole says, "On this self-produced album, we wanted to target more lush and radiant textures, some classic rock riffs, some jazzier elements and some full-on punk snarl.1. Unassigned

Strange WeatherAnna Calvi is to release a 5 track covers EP entitled 'Strange Weather.' Produced by Thomas Bartlett
(The National, Antony and the Johnsons, Sam Amidon) and recorded in New York, the EP features
covers of tracks by FKA twigs, Connan Mockasin, Suicide, David Bowie as well as a stunning
collaboration with David Byrne on the title track, a cover of Keren Ann's 'Strange Weather'.
The cover of Suicide's Ghost Rider was recorded with drummer Matt Johnson (Jeff Buckley), and Nico
Muhly contributes string arrangements to the EP opener, a deconstructed organic reworking of FKA
twigs' 'Papi Pacify.'
David Byrne said the following on working with Anna:
'I'm a big fan of Anna's two records... and I caught her tour after her first record at Bowery Ballroom
here in NY. 'Epic' I think is the word that is often used. So when Thomas Bartlett said he was going to
be in the studio producing an EP of Anna doing covers I immediately agreed to join in. I was invited
to suggest songs and I loved the last Keren Ann record and I thought Strange Weather had a haunting
quality that might suit Anna.... so we did that, and Anna then suggested I join in on the Connan
Mockasin track she'd done too.'1. Papi Pacify

25 25Factory Floor return to DFA with their sonically striking sophomore album, 25 25. What was once a trio is now a duo, with members Gabe Gurnsey and Nik Void holding it down and co-writing and recording the new LP together.
Their debut self-titled album (2013) embraced industrial, post-punk, disco, acid, avant-garde minimalism, electro, dub and - most crucially - the dancefloor, without being beholden to any one genre. (Pitchfork) 25 25 certainly does not forego any of these genres. What it adds to it is a new level of intricate detail in the production and mixing, with hyper-attention paid to drums & percussion. Mixing was completed by David Wrench (Caribou, FKA Twigs) was emphasizing their love of classic & modern dub. Nik Void's hypnotic / robotic vocals also take a new-found center stage on many tracks.

PlaymatesFat Possum Records is pleased to announce the release of Jack Ladder & The Dreamlanders' upcoming album Playmates. The first taste of the record Come On Back This Way showcases newfound lightness for Ladder, weaving a glistening synth melody with a chorus duet and wordless backing from Sharon Van Etten.
Three years after the acclaimed HURTSVILLE and a move from the inner city of Sydney, Australia to the Blue Mountains, Jack Ladder returns with his new album Playmates. The album is produced by Kim Moyes of The Presets, and mixed by David Wrench (Jungle, FKA Twigs, Caribou,Seekae). The Dreamlanders - Kirin J. Callinan (whose own album Embracism was released last year on Terrible / XL) Laurence Pike (of PVT) and Donny Benet - reunite to play on the record, with Sharon Van Etten contributing vocals to two tracks.
Playmates will be Jack Ladder's fourth album, and his first on Fat Possum. His previous two albums (2008's Love Is Gone and 2011's HURTSVILLE) were shortlisted for the Australian Music Prize. It's been a long journey to this point, and Playmates finds Jack Ladder at a creative apex, moving on from the darker roads into the curious, bold komische synthesizers which backlight Playmates. Ladder's latest work cogently recalls a time when albums were made to the parameters of the encroaching technology of the compact disc. But this album is where songs take precedence over an idea.
Playmates songs are muscular, raw - yet polished to the texture of a skyscraper. The lyrics themselves are haunting; they possess the poetic slur of a black-pupilled vision of romantic despair, love's unsure footing and a palpable air of Ballardian discord beneath the surface. The songs pulse with life. Synthesizers and drum machines rub shoulders with glam guitars and pedal steel, while above all, Ladder's granite baritone slashes at love and darkness like a heavy blade. He is a tender, persistent lover; a despairing prince at the battlements.
There is also the notable presence of Sharon Van Etten. On working with Jack Ladder, she says, When I first saw Jack Ladder...it blew me away. He's got a darkness to his vocals and lyrics but with a wink. It was really fun and an interesting challenge and his songs are killer. I feel lucky to have been a part of it.
Playmates breadth of ideas, its sinister anxiety-dream lyrics and particular vision of the world offer us as complete a view of this unfathomable Jack Ladder character as we are ever likely to observe in this dimension.1. Come On Back This Way
