Deluxe Packaging Includes Opulent Box, Special Jackets, Unique Insert, And Fine-art Print Of The Original Mati Klarwein Painting: No Expense Spared On Very Limited Audiophile Pressing

Get Literally And Figuratively Closer To The Music Of Santana's 1970 Masterwork: Set Ranked By Rolling Stone As 205th Greatest Album Of All Time Includes Black Magic Woman And Oye Como Va

Abraxas stands alone as the consummate Latin rock album. The confident sound of Santana stretching out and carving out a distinctive new genre, the 1970 set is daubed with psychedelic accents and Afro-Latin grooves. Not surprisingly, Abraxas immediately captured the public's ear, spending six weeks as the nation's #1 album and spawning the cosmic "Black Magic Woman" as a Top 5 single that's since become one of the most widely recognized songs in history. Befitting such a classic, Mobile Fidelity's 45RPM 2LP version of this ambitious work presents the music in the richest, most dynamic and realistic sound it's ever enjoyed.

Improving upon the label's critically acclaimed 180g LP pressing, Mobile Fidelity's deluxe 45RPM set is mastered from the original master tapes and overflows with the information, clarity, textures, and colors afforded by wider grooves. The result: Spacious, airy, and you-are-there sonics that trump all prior versions. Experience Abraxas the way it is meant to be heard, with the instruments and musicians placed in the proper channels. In addition to correcting the imaging, Mobile Fidelity's collectable version captures the full tonal range of Santana's guitar and nuances of his distinctive touch. Every imaginable detail is brought to the forefront and properly scaled, bringing you closer to the music and enhancing your emotional connection to this legendary record.

A confluence of celebratory vibes, bluesy jams, mellow vocals, and hip-shaking grooves, Abraxas is a cornerstone of any music collection. Picking up on the momentum of its excellent 1969 self-titled debut and drifting into more versatile territory, Santana reimagines what's possible in melding various disciplines and styles. Mysticism and spirituality abound amidst cohesive performances involving a vibrant m√Člange of purring organs, conga beats, and fluid bass lines. And that says nothing of the bandleader's extraordinary playing.

Wild, free, and loose, the group conjures the feeling of mountains and rivers on the lead-off instrumental "Singing Winds, Crying Beasts," leads a salsa parade on the definitive version of Tito Puente's "Oye Como Va," and explores its sensual side on the stellar showcase "Samba Pa Ti," a tune indicative of the album's Latin vibes and percussion. Sonically, Abraxas takes advantage of studio techniques such as cross-fading and mixing lacking on its predecessor.

As stated in The Mojo Collection: "Dissatisfied with the sound of their debut, the group brought in as a co-producer veteran jazz engineer Fred Catero, whose skills proved invaluable in balancing the new range of musical flavors Santana [was] bringing into its sound: the result was a giant step on from [the band's] debut."

But just like 1969's equally essential Santana, Abraxas lays claim to one of the biggest (and unfortunate) production gaffes in music history. Until Mobile Fidelity fixed the error with its 180g LP and 24K Gold CD releases, Abraxas had never been heard correctly. For nearly four decades, copies were produced with the left and right channels reversed, meaning that everything was placed in a backwards manner. This even extended to compilations on which individual songs from Abraxas were included. Rest assured that, in addition to enjoying reach-out-and-touch it sound, this 45RPM 2LP edition gets all the specifications exactly right.

The Nightfly (45 RPM Box Set) (Out Of Stock)

Mastered From The Original Master Tapes With Mobile Fidelity's One-Step Process: The Nightfly US1S 45RPM Box Set Is The Ultimate Analog Version Of Donald Fagen's 1982 Landmark Debut

Lavish Packaging Includes Opulent Box And Special Foil-Stamped Jackets: Deluxe Audiophile Pressing Strictly Limited To 6000 Numbered Copies

Cinema For The Ears: The Nightly Remains One Of The Best-Sounding Albums Ever Made With Reference Production, Standout Playing, And Jazz-Like Arrangements That Embody Timeless Cool

Donald Fagen's largely autobiographical The Nightfly remains one of the best-sounding albums ever made. Revered by audiophiles, the Steely Dan co-founder's 1982 set immediately became a demonstration disc at hi-fi shows and audio salons the world over. It also quickly emerged as an irreplaceable monitor-evaluating tool for recording-studio engineers and front-of-the-house testing device for concert-venue soundboard engineers who continue to use it today. Painstakingly recorded over eight months by illustrious producer Gary Katz and a Hall of Fame-worthy cast of perfectionist-minded musicians, The Nightfly endures as a rare trifecta of superlative performance, consummate songwriting, and crisp, benchmark production. Mobile Fidelity is honored to give this seminal effort unsurpassed treatment befitting the most serious music connoisseurs.

Fagen's solo debut reaches three-dimensional sonic and emotional heights never before attained by analog recordings on Mobile Fidelity's opulent UD1S (UltraDisc One-Step) box set. Strictly limited to 5,000 numbered copies, this ultra-hi-fi collector's edition literally and figuratively brings you closer to music that picks up where Steely Dan's Gaucho leaves off. You'll enjoy deep-black backgrounds, boundless soundstaging, pointillist details, staggering dynamics, and arguably, the most lifelike tonalities and nuances ever committed to vinyl. Experienced via UD1S, The Nightfly places Fagen and his session pros in your listening room. Every note, breath, and movement is reproduced with exquisite accuracy, wowing clarity, and impeccable balance. Consider this edition your new go-to reference.

The lavish packaging and beautiful presentation of Mobile Fidelity's The Nightfly pressing befit its extremely select status. Housed in a deluxe box, this UD1S version contains special foil-stamped jackets and faithful-to-the-original graphics that illuminate the splendor of the recording. No expense has been spared. Aurally and visually, this reissue of The Nightfly is a curatorial artifact meant to be preserved, poured over, touched, and examined. It is made for discerning listeners that prize sound quality and creativity, and who desire to fully immerse themselves in the art - and everything involved with the album, from the images to the textures and liner notes.

Nominated for seven Grammy Awards, The Nightfly represent[s] certain fantasies that might have been entertained by a young man growing up in the remote suburbs of a northeastern city during the late fifties and early sixties, i.e., one of my general height, weight, and build, pens Fagen in the liner notes, revealing the work's thematic thrust and wistful, nostalgic appeal. At their core, songs look at the world via an optimistic, mindfully innocent lens and through the eyes of an adolescent holed up in his bedroom with his ear to a radio whose exciting transmissions inspire thoughts of futuristic cities, late-night deejays, otherworldly hopes, and Cold War romances. Cinema for the ears, The Nightfly comes on like a film transferred to wax - its stories filled with relatable vulnerability, ambition, and warmth.

It is also timelessly cool, with everything from the iconic album cover - complete with Fagen in the role of a cigarette-smoking disk jockey spinning a Sonny Rollins album on an RCA turntable at 4:09 in the morning - to the flawless playing honoring the laid-back, hip, stylish jazz pedigree of the arrangements. Indeed, The Nightfly's fame owes as much to the stunning contributions by stickler musicians - saxophonist Michael Brecker, trumpeter Randy Brecker, guitarist Larry Carlton, drummer Steve Jordan, bassist Marcus Miller, drummer Jeff Porcaro, and Harmonica Frank Floyd included - as it does the particulars behind its creation, which involved cutting-edge technology, novel microphoning techniques, and pioneering recording methods that gave Fagen exactly what he demanded. His insistence on dialing in exacting drum sounds is by itself the stuff of legend.

The results of the meticulous sessions transcend eras and generations - part of its very design. Virtually every track connects with classic 50s and 60s styles. Green Flower Street doubles as an homage to the jazz standard On Green Dolphin Street. The title track draws imagery from blues pioneer Charley Patton. Ruby Baby references soul greats the Drifters. Maxine nods to harmonies perfected by big-band vocal quartets like the Four Freshmen. The Goodbye Look acknowledges the bossa-nova craze of Fagen's youth. In all respects, The Nightfly rules the airwaves.

More About Mobile Fidelity UltraDisc One-Step and Why It Is Superior

Instead of utilizing the industry-standard three-step lacquer process, Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab's new UltraDisc One-Step (UD1S) uses only one step, bypassing two processes of generational loss. While three-step processing is designed for optimum yield and efficiency, UD1S is created for the ultimate in sound quality. Just as Mobile Fidelity pioneered the UHQR (Ultra High-Quality Record) with JVC in the 1980s, UD1S again represents another state-of-the-art advance in the record-manufacturing process. MFSL engineers begin with the original master tapes and meticulously cut a set of lacquers. These lacquers are used to create a very fragile, pristine UD1S stamper called a convert. Delicate converts are then formed into the actual record stampers, producing a final product that literally and figuratively brings you closer to the music. By skipping the additional steps of pulling another positive and an additional negative, as done in the three-step process used in standard pressings, UD1S produces a final LP with the lowest noise floor possible today. The removal of the additional two steps of generational loss in the plating process reveals tremendous amounts of extra musical detail and dynamics, which are otherwise lost due to the standard copying process. The exclusive nature of these very limited pressings guarantees that every UD1S pressing serves as an immaculate replica of the lacquer sourced directly from the original master tape. Every conceivable aspect of vinyl production is optimized to produce the most perfect record album available today.

Sunday at The Village Vanguard (Out Of Stock)

Mastered from the Original Master Tapes With Mobile Fidelity's One-Step Process: Sunday at the Village Vanguard UD1S 45RPM Box Set the Ultimate Analog Version of Bill Evans' 1961 Jazz Staple

Deluxe Packaging Includes Opulent Box, Special Jackets and Unique Bonus Artwork: No Expense Spared, Strictly Limited to 3000 Numbered Copies

Gorgeous Romanticism, Seamless Chemistry, Group Interplay, and Symbiotic Trio Performances Forever Changed Jazz: Evans' Live Masterwork Boasts Brilliant Sound, Lyrical Pianism, Magical Feel

The gorgeous romanticism of Bill Evans' Sunday at the Village Vanguard cannot be overstated. Neither can the iconic record's place in history - nor what it signifies to generations upon generations of listeners hypnotized by the consummate playing, resplendent compositions, and seamless chemistry. Originally released in1961, the live set remains the gold standard for symbiotic trio performance, empathy, and communication. Because of Orrin Keepnews' brilliant recording, it also survives as one of the best-sounding jazz albums extant - a fact confirmed by its appearance on multiple reissues over the past few decades. But it's never sounded better than this.

Evans' masterwork reaches three-dimensional sonic and emotional heights never before attained by analog recordings on this opulent Mobile Fidelity UD1S box set complete with special jackets and a unique insert. Strictly numbered to 3000 copies, this ultra-hi-fi audiophile edition literally and figuratively brings you closer to the music of this Riverside staple that, along with the complementary Waltz for Debby, transformed Evans into a legend and became a blueprint for how jazz trios should work together. You'll enjoy deep-black backgrounds, pointillistic details, and staggering dynamics. Experienced via UD1S, Sunday at the Village Vanguard places Evans and his esteemed colleagues in your listening room. Every note, breath, and movement captured by the microphones are reproduced with exquisite accuracy and wowing clarity.

The deluxe packaging and gorgeous presentation of this Sunday at the Village Vanguard pressing befit its extremely select status. Housed in an opulent box, this UD1S edition contains special jackets and unique bonus artwork that further illuminate the splendor of the recording. No expense has been spared. Aurally and visually, this Sunday at the Village Vanguard is a curatorial artifact meant to be preserved, poured over, touched, and examined. It is made for discerning listeners that prize sound and creativity, and who desire to fully immerse themselves in the music - and everything involved with the album, from the graphics to the textures.

Recorded just ten days before bassist Scott LaFaro perished in a car accident, Sunday at the Village Vanguard changed the way jazz trios were perceived by audiences and musicians alike. Up until Evans, LaFaro, and drummer Paul Motian proved otherwise, a trio configuration meant two sidemen served as rhythmic support to spotlight the virtuosity of a headline performer or primary soloist. Here, the three instrumentalists operate in complete unison and achieve supreme democratic balance. Expressing their intent via shared conversations, they alight on sublime pieces flush with thematic discovery, improvisational dialog, and raw feeling.

A quest for discovery informs the music as well as the playing. Evans' lyrical pianism met at every turn by LaFaro's chorded responses and harmonic counterpoints. Indeed, Sunday at the Village Vanguard remains LaFaro's standout moment, his soloing helping shape the melodies and striking a keen equilibrium between modality and traditionalism. Joining poignant renditions of Miles Davis, Cole Porter, and Gershwin numbers, two LaFaro originals - Jade Visions and the opening Gloria's Step - further demonstrate his genius. They furnish the album a supernatural aura that matches the jovial mood of the musicians. It's impossible to think this album could be improved in any way. Particularly now that this UD1S pressing brings the Village Vanguard into your room. Prepare to witness history. Again and again.
