Barbara Barbara, we face a shining future

Barbara Barbara, We Face a Shining Future - the duo's first studio album since 2010's Barking - finds Underworld creatively reborn. Its seven tracks are fleet-footed, raw and spontaneous - a direct result of a strict working process in the studio that saw the band members write entirely new music each time they met.

Underworld's debut arrived as a fully formed statement of intent. Its' nine tracks showcased the limitless possibilities of electronic music. Although born
out of club culture, Dubnobass defied the accepted genres of the time - equally suited to the dancefloor and the after party, it was as immersive an
experience quaking through bassbins or headphones. Two decades on from its original release, it's unarguable that Dubnobasswithmyheadman is one of
the most influential British electronic records of all time; a signpost for everything from dance music's easy relationship with main stages at festivals to the
    radio/globe-conquering EDM phenomenon.

To celebrate Dubnobasswithmyheadman's twentieth anniversary, the record has been meticulously remastered at Abbey Road for a deluxe reissue by the
band's Rick Smith. Revisiting the original MIDI files, Rick uncovered a wealth of previously unreleased material and rare alternate
mixes that sit alongside the record's original companion singles and remixes and offer a fascinating insight into the creation of the record. The resultant
release is the definitive version of one of those rare records that truly deserves to be described as a classic.

It is neither historical nor a tribute to past work; it is the work of artists in motion, engaged in a process that they both bring to all of their work - one that uses spontaneity as a spur for creativity.

Persephone's Bees' new record New In Berlin is a self-produced album, recorded in San Francisco by Tom Ayres and Angelina Moysov at Decibelle Recording Studio. The songs on the album were written in Berlin cafes, London sidewalks, San Francisco and Oakland where the duo lived at the time before moving to NYC. Their previous album Notes From The Underworld was produced by hitmaker Eric Valentine and released here on Columbia Records; in France, Belgium and Switzerland on the indie label Kuskus. This new album was self-released in an experiment with direct fan communication, each song released first as an online single, a song every 6 weeks, each song having it's own page on the band's website with a short story, lyrics and video. The last single came out on July 17th, 2012, and these songs are now compiled onto this vinyl release plus digital download coupon for the album and extra versions of 3 songs sung in French, German and Russian. Music by Roland Barker (Ministry, Revolting Cocks, Blackouts) and Bill Rieflin (Ministry, King Crimson, Blackouts)

Remastered From The Original 24-Track Recordings

Orpheus' journey to the underworld is reworked as a post-apocalyptic skate rock-opera in this 1989 cult classic. The mortal world faces imminent destruction when Hades unleashes an evil television signal that sublimates and kills its viewers. These hypnotic broadcasts from the EUTHANASIA BROADCAST NETWORK are seducing the masses - except skateboard-guitarist Orpheus and his band of "SHREDDERS" who can see through this nefarious scheme. To save the world and his kidnapped wife Orpheus must penetrate the world of the dead and free the television airwaves. Armed with a futuristic guitar and a skateboard from hell, Orpheus storms onto the EBN stage to liberate the airwaves and rescue his wife.

Shredder Orpheus features many Seattle performance luminaries including Seattle poet/performance artist Steven Jesse Bernstein (Sub Pop), and Robert McGinley in the title role. The 17 music cues weave together a blend of Barker's hypnotic synthesizer compositions with blistering skate rock tunes featuring virtuosic guitar work by Dennis Rea and precision percussion and bass by Rieflin and Amy Denio.

    Ocean's Kingdom

Marking his first foray into the word of dance, Paul McCartney has announced the general release of Oceans Kingdom, commissioned by the New York City Ballet. The recording will be released by Decca Records and Hear Music/Telarc and is conducted by John Wilson, produced by John Fraser and performed by The London Classical Orchestra.

Oceans Kingdom is the first time Sir Paul has written an original orchestral score or any kind of music for dance and is the result of a collaboration between Paul and New York City Ballets Master in Chief Peter Martins, who have worked together to present the world premiere of a new ballet for the companys 2011/2012 season this September.

Though the work is Pauls first ballet, he approached the project in the same way he writes all other music, driven by his heart rather than his head and inspired by feeling rather than specific technical knowledge. While this may have been another new turn for his staggeringly varied career to take, Paul knew it had to be influenced by his own personal experience and that he needed to create a story the audience would find equally compelling and moving.

Pauls first step was to visit the Royal Opera House to see Adolphe Adams Giselle, danced by the Royal Ballet. Afterwards, Paul met the dancers and discussed the work with them, realizing as he did so that he was still without a central theme to his work. Keen to tell a story through his music, Paul decided to focus on the purity of the ocean and within just two months, the first draft had been completed. He then went through the music again thinking specifically of the ballet itself, thereby creating a world featuring distinctive characters and a vibrant underworld kingdom. Finally Paul spent many more weeks working alongside Peter Martins to refine the work, before Peter created the choreography with the NYCB dancers.

An hour long score featuring four stunning movements: Oceans Kingdom, Hall of Dance, Imprisonment and Moonrise, the ballet tells of a love story within the story of an underwater world whose people are threatened by the humans of Earth. A potently expressive and richly varied work, the score is Pauls most challenging and emotionally complex yet. As he explains: What was interesting was writing music that meant something expressively rather than just writing a song. Trying to write something that expressed an emotion so you have fear, love, anger, sadness to play with and I found that exciting and challenging.

The premiere of the ballet Oceans Kingdom will take place at NYCBs Fall Gala on Thursday, September 22nd 2011 while the release of the orchestral score will follow a month later, here on vinyl. It was recorded in June of 2011 in London.

The artwork that accompanies the release is equally striking and inventive. Though it seems to suggest a city skyline, it is actually a digital readout of the notes from the ballet score.

Although this is his first orchestral score for dance, Paul is already quite at home in the world of classical music. His back catalog already carries four classical albums, the most recent of which was the Classical BRIT Award winning Ecce Cor Meum (Behold My Heart); a work for chorus and orchestra in four movements that was released in 2006.

    1. Movement 1: Oceans Kingdom
    2. Movement 2: Hall of Dance

Erupting forth from the filthiest ranks of the underworld, the long-awaited vinyl version of the new album from Swedish black metal horde, Craft, is finally upon us! Diehards of Craft's vicious, orthodox black metal bombardment have been seething in anticipation of this album for years, their immensely praised/feared 2005-released Fuck The Universe full-length having infected the metal community on impressive new levels for this previously cult outfit.

2011 will bring that wait to a crushing end, with the release of the band's fourth LP, Void. Delivering a 9-track convoy of punishing black hymns over 49-minutes, Void does not just pick up where Fuck the Universe left off, rather, it also explores some crushing new angles, as well as revisits some of Craft's earlier, scathing days, and wholly channels the band's obvious, endless hate unto the human population. 180g double vinyl with deluxe stoughton gatefold jacket.

Formed in 1980, POISON IDEA became a household name in the hardcore/punk scenes early in their career, and are known as one of the most notoriously in-your-face acts in the American musical underworld, with an enraged, high-energy live set even more rambunctious than the massive roster of singles, EPs, full-length studio and live releases and more, across a realm of labels including Pusmort, Tim/Kerr, Epitaph, Farewell, TKO, Southern Lord, and their own Fatal Erection. They've been an incredibly influential act to major performers including Nirvana, Pantera, Napalm Death, Machine Head, Eyehategod, Emperor, Turbonegro and an endless list of others.

It is with massive enthusiasm that Southern Lord Recordings announces the brand NEW Poison Idea studio LP: Confuse & Conquer featuring eleven raging new anthems. Recorded by Joel Grind (Toxic Holocaust) and mastered by Brad Boatright (From Ashes Rise), the record booms with thirty-five minutes of fully ignited hardcore punk in the monolithic style the band has provided for three-and-a-half decades now.

Rollerchain is the fourth full-length album from Belleruche, out on Tru Thoughts Records, and it showcases a stunning new progression in sound for the acclaimed London trio. Belleruche have created a darker, more bass heavy and evocative sound here, whilst still retaining the melodic soulful touch that sets them apart and has gained them a worldwide fanbase.

Stormbird is a sub bass driven pop song with clipped drums, tempo shifts and swells of looped feedback, unlike Belleruche's previous work but drawing from the same cabinet of sonic references. As the album opener, this gorgeous little distorted oddity of a track gets your attention and runs away with it through the shadows into a new sonic underworld.

Combining a very modern aesthetic with classic song writing ability, the album is a collision of haunting vocals, tough analogue sounds and bleeding edge electronic production. Stranger rhythms and basslines inhabit this record; both in the studio and onstage. Belleruche have picked up new instruments and ideas to create a complexity and an attack that incorporate the band's core elements: vocals (Kathrin deBoer), guitar (Ricky Fabulous) and turntables (DJ Modest), to an entire new level! 2LP pressing with CD insert.

    Down Fell The Doves

Amanda Shires landed everywhere from NPR's Tiny Desk to the Grand Ole Opry to the cover of Texas Music as their Artist Of The Year in 2011. Now she's back with 'Down Fell The Doves' set for release via Lightning Rod Records. The album's 11 original songs feature Amanda's sharpest writing to date, brought to life by a voice that melts, a fiddle that sears, and guitars - played for the most part by her husband, Jason Isbell - that scrape and howl.

Shires has blossomed into a truly original voice with 'Doves,' which was produced by Andy LeMaster (Bright Eyes, REM) and recorded at his Chase Park Transduction studio in Athens, GA. Bulletproof ponders invincibility with the help of a Siberian tiger claw. Wasted and Rollin' casts a deep, impressionistic fog. For Deep Dark Below Shires' attention shifts to the underworld, where the devil plays fiddle with a bow made of bones. Song for Leonard Cohen has a softer touch, imagining a drunken evening stroll with the master songwriter.

Now based in Nashville, Shires began playing fiddle at age ten in Texas. By 15, she had joined the Texas Playboys, former backing band of western swing pioneer Bob Wills. More recently she has toured and recorded with Snider and Justin Townes Earle who says, With a voice that whispers Dolly and lyrics that scream Faulkner, this girl shines like a diamond.

    Weirdo Rippers

First US vinyl pressing of their seminal debut for FatCat

"Despite an overload of music these days, if often feels like there are fewer essential listens.
At the end of Weirdo Rippers, you're left with a rare sense of having discovered something
    new." 8.0/10 - Pitchfork

"Weirdo Rippers created an entire world within an obviously a Los Angeles
record. From the ambient guitar scratch on "Loosen This Job" to the plaintive field
recording of waves on "Every Artist Needs a Tragedy" to the defiant, almost snotty "Boy
Void," which sounded like it was recorded from inside a crusty cardboard box, the Los
Angeles that No Age were writing was all warehouses, skating at sunset and unpretentious
    unity."- Stereogum

Shimmering shoegaze pop and glowering punk collide and burst into flames on this
delightfully rude debut. Surging waves of frayed yet beautiful electronica give way to urgent
rants, with voices buried in the mix like distant cries for help. - SPIN

By now the two young heavyweights
from the LA Skate / Art /
Punk underworld, No Age, are a
    well-known and established part
of the indie pantheon. But back
in 2007 Dean Spunt and Randy
Randall were just building quite a
bit of noise in the wake of the
    demise of their previous band

After working out their sound in
    the LA scene revolving around
the now fabled venue The Smell
(pictured on the cover of Weirdo
    Rippers) they decided to release
five ltd. vinyl only releases on a
variety of DIY indie labels across
the globe on the same day (namely
UTR, Deleted Art, Teardrops, Youth Attack, and Dean's own PPM label). Designed by
Brian Roettinger, Randall and Spunt, the back of each record's sleeve was a different
color, and had one of the letters that, when you collected all of them, would join to spell
No Age. Their debut LP release for FatCat, 'Weirdo Rippers', was a collection of
recorded highlights taken from the aforementioned releases. At the time it was readily
available on CD and has since found a home digitally but it's not found its way back to the
vinyl format that first gave many of these tracks life. Now we're presenting the first
domestically available version of 'Weirdo Rippers' pressed to vinyl; an utterly essential
    piece of No Age's past.
