St. Louis, MO melodic metalcore up-and-comers TEAR OUT THE HEART have been building a loyal following in America's Heartland over the past several years and are now setting out to conquer the globe with the release of their debut full length album, Violence. After teaming up with Victory Records in August of 2012, TEAR OUT THE HEART recorded Violence with ATTACK ATTACK vocalist/producer Caleb Shomo in the fall of last year.

    Violence, Violence

After a well received demo and a debut 7 that sold 2,000 copies in less than a year, Ceremony gives us Violence Violence, their 15 song debut full length. If Ruined was their declaration, Violence Violence is their first wave assault, a soundtrack to wage war. A war against everything that hardcore has stood against, but now has been co-opted into its ranks. There's no TRL song on here, there's nothing that'll be heard at a school dance. Hardcore for the hardcore.

    Holographic Violence

In the five years since Grave Babies' debut album Deathface was released, founder Danny Wahlfeldt has been handling all songwriting and recording duties for the Seattle-based band, with invaluable help from friends in performing their material live. For their newest album entitled Holographic Violence, Wahlfeldt chose a different path, causing a significant change in the band's overall sound.

Holographic Violence is Grave Babies' second Hardly Art full-length after Crusher (2013), and further explores the themes of nihilism, the pending doom of mankind, and shaming humanity, which the band has been building their gloomy reputation on since the beginning. This time however, instead of recording everything in his basement, Wahlfeldt enlisted the help of Bryce Brown (Crypts) on bass and Mark Gajadhar (Blood Brothers, Past Lives) on drums in the early stages of recording. The songs on Holographic Violence fell into place in Mark's studio on Orcas Island, Washington. Mixing was handled by Matt Bayles (Alice in Chains, Mastodon), with final mastering by Chris Common (Chelsea Wolfe, Mars Volta). As a final touch, Claire Haranda was added to the lineup on keyboards and synth to round out the band's live sets. By leaving the edgy, lo-fi haze of earlier output in the past, these songs have clarified what the music of Grave Babies has to offer the future.

That is, if humanity has a future?

"I wanted it to be a last cry for sanity going into our dystopian future," Wahlfeldt says about Holographic Violence. Grave Babies has long held a crush on morbidity, death, and corruption, building a romantic relationship around the juxtaposition of the dark contextual matter with hook-heavy songs rife with pretty melodies and harmonies. The 11 new songs on Holographic Violence present this powerful combination from a science fiction perspective, begging the question: has our imagination outpaced the confines of our reality as we keep going down the same path, believing there's hope? Playing anthemic pop songs with a strange male choir-esque sound to the vocals adds a distinctly cultish feel to the abrasive exercise of figuring out if it is possible to circumvent destructive human predispositions.

Thus, Holographic Violence is a lesson in authenticity as we must look deeper into the subject matter for the finer details, instead of skimming the surface and believing we have things right at a mere glance. Maybe we just have to come to terms with the fact that the things that we're constantly running away from are inherent in ourselves and inescapable? Grave Babies mission is not to find the answers to these questions, but to challenge the listener and on Holographic Violence, their uncompromising aesthetic makes the suffering a little prettier.

Nine Inch Nails' new EP, ADD VIOLENCE, is set for release on vinyl via Capitol Records. The five-song collection is the second in a series of three related EPs. The first, Not The Actual Events, was released in December of 2016.

ADD VIOLENCE finds the band (Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross) becoming more accessible and impenetrable at the same time. The sonic palette expands significantly from Not The Actual Events, incorporating elements of beauty into the dark dissonance. The narrative arc linking the three records begins to emerge through the disassociated lyrics and the provocative and clue-filled cover artwork.

    Feed Me Violence

Let down your hair and rip off your shirt, Speed Metal is back! With lustful joy, the Belgians of EVIL INVADERS wallow in those mad days of early Metallica and Slayer, when Thrash Metal was marked with speed and metal's madness was bigger than the Beatlemania. Their second monstrosity of an album is called Feed The Violence and delivers true Thrash Metal in its rawest strength: wasted and wild, lightning-swift and erratic! Full-throated Heavy Metal-screams that would make Rob Halford proud shoot over electrifying whirlwinds of solo guitars. Prepare yourself for massive divebombs and a grim beating snare drum! A must-have for every guitar-freak that hails Dimebag Darrell and Randy Rhoads.

    Violence and Orchids

Nonesuch Records will release Violence and Orchids, the vinyl edition of Michael Daves's new album, Orchids and Violence. The vinyl edition comprises two versions each of five traditional bluegrass tunes: acoustic takes performed with a band of roots-music innovators-bassist Mike Bub, violinist Brittany Haas, mandolinist Sarah Jarosz, and Punch Brothers banjoist Noam Pikelny-paired with electric rock renditions of the same songs played mostly played by Daves, with his wife Jessi Carter playing bass. It's a roots-music master class, a brilliant example of old modes reinhabited with flair, says the New York Times. To his credit, it can be hard to pick which version of a tune is best. The LP includes a download of the complete Orchids and Violence album.

The straightforward interpretations of the songs were recorded live to tape in a 19th-century church by Daves. The second disc was recorded in Daves's home studio and includes bass, drums, and electric guitar, and takes a raw, experimental rock approach to the same old-time material. The album was mixed by Vance Powell (Jack White, Kings of Leon, Danger Mouse).

One of the things I love about bluegrass music is the tension between innovation and tradition, says Daves of the album. When bluegrass came together, it was a fabrication of a variety of influences in American music yet it quickly became something people assume has been around forever. With this project, I can respect and honor the traditional aspects of that but also reflect on the innovative nature of bluegrass music when it was being created, when it was new.

In the early conceptions of the electric record, I was thinking about it as something of a grunge record, but as it developed it became something pretty different, Daves says. Those sounds that were happening in the early nineties were part of my discovering music, what I was absorbing as I was going out on my own as a guitarist and having my own bands. But when I got into making the record it was much more about the fun of exploring new sounds than reconnecting with some musical past. The album followed a period where I hadn't been playing much electric music, so plugging in felt pretty fresh, like discovering something new.

    Make Out With Violence

Make Out With Violence is a genre-bending tale of a boy trying to fulfill his unrequited love for a girl who has risen from the dead. Set against the backdrop of a summer of cicadas and swimming pools, the film blends elements of up-beat teenage melodrama with the strange gravity of classic coming of age stories. It tells the story of twin brothers Patrick and Carol Darling, newly graduated from high school and struggling to come to terms with the unexplained disappearance of their friend, the bright and beautiful Wendy Hearst. When a drive through the countryside surrounding their suburban community leads to the discovery of Wendys mysteriously animated corpse, the boys secretly transport the undead Wendy to an empty house in hopes of somehow bringing her back to life. As the sweltering summer pushes on, they must maintain the appearance of normalcy for their friends and family as they search for ways to revive the Wendy they once knew, or, failing that, to satisfy their own quests for love amongst the living and the dead. Features an award winning original pop soundtrack by The Non-Commissioned Officers.

All come from diverse backgrounds, steeped in metal (thrash and grind in particular), goth, and every permutation of hardcore and punk imaginable. Language.Sex.Violence.Other?

    2016 Reissue

Language. Sex. Violence. Other? is the fifth studio album by alternative rock band Stereophonics. Produced by Kelly Jones and Jim Lowe, it was released on 14 March 2005 on V2 Records. After the band's two previous albums, which contained much more acoustic music and an overall mellower sound, the band brought back the harder and more abrasive alternative rock and indie rock sound they were known for and songs such as Doorman and Brother are some of the band's most aggressive songs. The album reached #1 in the UK, selling over 100,000 copies in it's first week of release. Stereophonics are a Welsh rock band that formed in 1992 in the village of Cwmaman in Cynon Valley. Described as classic UK rock delivered with whiskey vocals, the band have been summarized as possessing a sound akin to the genres of alternative rock and British traditional rock. Having sold around 10 million worldwide, Stereophonics are one of the most successful Welsh rock acts. Upon their release of Pull the Pin, they became the eighth group to achieve five consecutive UK number one albums (after the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, ABBA, Genesis, Oasis, Blur and U2).

    Dead Zone Boys

Dead Zone Boys, the third album from Jookabox (Indianapolis-born David Moose Adamson and Co.), is love story meets psychedelic zombie-musical. The zombie part came easy: Moose grew up on the east side of Indianapolis in the 90s, an area plagued by constant recession, pandemic homicide, and racial tension. It was this frantic energy and violence that infused itself into the Jookabox experience while musically nodding to early Ween, Black Sabbath, and fellow Indiana native, the King of Pop.

Violence begins to mend what was broken, is not only a lyric taken from Lamb of God's song Omerta, it's a theme that's emblazoned throughout Ashes of the Wake both in message and music, inspired as much by personal trial as by world politics. Lamb of God showcases their 80's thrash roots on Ashes of the Wake by featuring solos from both Testament and Megadeth. Inflammable Material

The debut album from Belfast's finest punk band, originally released on the Rough Trade label in 1979. Inflammable Material features two of the greatest songs recorded on the controversy and violence surrounding Northern Ireland. Suspect Device and Alternative Ulster indict both sides of the conflict, the Royal Ulster Constabulary and the Irish Republican Army, in driving punk rock form. Those tracks, along with Rough Trade (which blatantly attacks their own record label), and the Bob Marley cover, Johnny Was, make up the highlights of one of the greatest albums of the first wave of punk. 'You talkin' to ME?!?': undeniably one of the most famous quotes from movie history from one of its most memorable characters. Travis Bickle, the frustrated Vietnam veteran in Taxi Driver; the lonely nut obsessed with sex and violence who takes a job as a cabbie to battle his insomnia. Chuck Prophet describes his new disc BOBBY FULLER DIED FOR YOUR SINS as California Noir. "The state has always represented the Golden Dream, and it's the tension between romance and reality that lurks underneath the surface in all noir films and paperbacks, and that connects these songs. Doomed love, inconsolable loneliness, rags to riches to rags again, and fast-paced violence are always on the menu on the Left Coast." Menace II Society is a 1993 American hood drama thriller film directed by Allen and Albert Hughes in their directorial debut, and starring Tyrin Turner, Jada Pinkett, Larenz Tate and Samuel L. Jackson. The film is set in the 1990s South Central Los Angeles, California. The film follows the life of a young man named Kaydee Caine Lawson and his close friends. It gained notoriety for its scenes of violence, profanity, and drug-related content. It was released in May 1993 to critical acclaim for its gritty portrayal of urban violence and its powerful underlying messages.

The soundtrack is a nice compilation of old school Rap and R&B songs, which brings the listener to the Los Angeles hood in the 90s.

It peaked at number 1 on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and at number 11 on the Billboard 200. The album has been certified Platinum by the RIAA since October 11, 1994.

    Honky Tonk Heroes

According to legend, it was at Willie Nelson's Fourth of July picnic when Waylon Jennings drunkenly promised a nobody named Billy Joe Shaver that he'd record a whole album of his songs. Apparently it wasn't until Shaver threatened physical violence on Jennings (in front of a Nashville studio full of people) that he finally made good on his promise, although Jennings had only recently been granted full artistic control by RCA. The result was a stunning achievement: 1973's Honky Tonk Heroes was the defining record of the anti-Nashville Outlaw movement--the term came after the album--and a cornerstone in country music history. Featuring bare-bones production and plainspoken, hard-nosed lyrics that celebrated personal freedoms and simple pleasures, the record was a far cry from the demure Nashville Sound. In each other, Jennings and Shaver had found a kindred spirit, and together they rewrote the country rulebook. - Marc Greilsamer

    Birth Is Pain

Evil is a word that gets tossed around today by many bands in hard music. The people that you really have to watch out for are the ones that don't market their sadistic thoughts as a sales ploy. Cleveland based RINGWORM is evil incarnate. True devotees of the occult and self professed followers of serial killers, their music has a viral tendency to infect, weaken and debilitate. Front man Human Furnace's deranged vocals induce mass violence and carnage whenever unleashed. The sheer and utter brutality of their music has been converting the underground masses all around the world for over a decade. Their rabid and fanatical followers have become the Manson Family of the new millennium, willing to cause whatever destruction and chaos is ordered of them. RINGWORM's Victory debut release, "Birth Is Pain" is the soundtrack to the annihilation of society.
