    Everything You Want

Pressed On 180 Gram Red Vinyl

    Limited To 1,000 Copies

Vertical Horizon's major-label debut, Everything You Want, finds the band strengthening their acoustic jam rock with prominent electric guitars, anthemic hooks, and a clean radio-ready production that brings them in line with the likes of the Wallflowers.

Some longtime fans may find this sonic switch-up a little disconcerting, and it is true that the music on Everything You Want doesn't always flow as easily as it did on their indie records, but it does illustrate Vertical Horizon's growth as a band and its best moments show that they're capable of writing a pop hook as easily as Sister Hazel. Granted, that may not be where the group wants to be, but with a production as polished as this, radio play is clearly a concern. It's to Vertical Horizon's credit that they're usually able to balance the radio single with the calmer acoustic jams that won them a cult following in the first place.

    409

Purple play pop music. Messy, dirty, raucous, grit-spitting, tequila-glugging pop music. They do not apologise for this. They have a big streak of it running skunk-like up their backs and through urgent tunes full of indie-punk snarl and piss and vinegar, but driven by grooves deep enough to rival any hop-hop classics. They are wrestling pop away from the world of vocoders, slick dance routines and coquettish airheads and bringing back to where it belongs: to the beach, to the house party, dancing on the table in that bar you need a fake ID to get into. They like to bare flesh and play until they bleed. Good things followed: a huge local following, two managers and endless touring.

'(409)' is the name of the area code for their East Texas neighbour and the name of Purple's debut album produced by Chris 'Frenchie' Smith (...Trail Of Dead, Jet ). Recorded in El Paso, '(409)' is an album that's borne out of endless jams and no shortage of live shows where Purple offer a combination of the explosive and the celebratory. Instruments are abused and crowds are surfed; their shows are somewhere between the wild, fleshy abandonment of early White Stripes. "We're positive people," shrugs Busby. "We're always looking for the party somewhere. Or maybe we are the party."

Pop is there in the 60s garage-influenced brilliance of 'Beach Buddy', a song propelled by a dual girl/boy vocal and the same endless summer joie de vivre of Ramones, Black Lips and Weezer . The chorus is an earworm that burrows deep. It's there too in 'Wallflower', a joyously uplifting song that flips the usual script and sees a girl ardently - some might say aggressively - pursuing an admirer through the upended bottles, overflowing ashtrays and tangled limbs of a party: "I'm a girl - you're supposed to be chasing me!" With definite shades of Bikini Kill and No Doubt it's the best femme-punk song we've heard in an aeon. 'Head On The Floor' meanwhile is a proto-grunge song that swings like early Hole and has a whole of soul.

'(409)' is certainly an album with sand in its shoes and a rocket up its ass. It transports you to a better place. Listening to Purple quickens your pulse. Gives you the sweats. Has you reaching for a cold one. And then another. And then ten more. They make you feel alive. They are good for you.

    Wallflower

Wallflower is five-time Grammy Award-winning jazz pianist and singer Diana Krall's new studio album released via Verve Records. Wallflower is a collection of songs from the late 60's to present day that inspired Krall in her early years. Produced by 16-time
Grammy® Award-winning producer David Foster, the album finds Krall breaking new ground with her interpretations of some of the greatest pop songs of
    all time.

On Wallflower, Diana Krall showcases her considerable gifts as a vocalist in a bold and beautiful way. Krall sings a set of songs that include
familiar popular classics like The Mamas and the Papas' "California Dreaming" and the Eagles' "Desperado," favorite vintage songs by Krall's musical
heroes Bob Dylan (he inspired the album's title track "Wallflower") and Elton John ("Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word"). The album also features
more recent gems like Crowded House's "Don't Dream It's Over" and a wonderful new composition from Paul McCartney ("If I Take You Home Tonight").
Diana Krall's unique artistry transcends any single musical style and has made her one of the most recognizable artists of our time. Krall has sold more
albums than any other female jazz artist in the last 30 years, establishing herself as one of the best-selling artists of her generation. The new album marks
Krall's first studio effort since 2012's Glad Rag Doll, produced by T Bone Burnett, which debuted at No. 6 on the Billboard 200 and at No. 1 on the Jazz
    Albums chart.

Diana Krall is the only jazz singer to have eight albums debut at the top of the Billboard Jazz Albums chart. To date, she has won five
Grammy® Awards, eight Juno® Awards and has also earned nine gold, three platinum and seven multi-platinum albums. Tour dates will be announced

    Brooklyn Soundtrack & Score

Brooklyn's composer wanted the score to nod to Ireland and conjure up emotions - but not too much.

Director John Crowley's film, stars Saoirse Ronan as Eilis, an Irish immigrant in 1950s New York who adjusts to life away from her family while falling for an outspoken plumber.

Brooklyn composer Michael Brook has had a busy and varied career, having written the scores for such films as Into the Wild (2007), The Fighter (2010), The Perks of Being a Wallflower (2012) and the upcoming Elle Fanning-starrer About Ray.

    Say Anything

Los Angeles rock band Say Anything's new self-titled, 12-song collection was produced by veteran producer/mixer/engineer Neal Avron, who has also worked with Weezer, The Wallflowers, Fall Out Boy, and Everclear, among others. The band, which is frontman Max Bemis, drummer Coby Linder, bassist Alex Kent, guitarists Jake Turner and Jeff Turner, and keyboardist Parker Case, recorded it in early 2009 at the Boat Studio in Los Angeles.

Say Anything is the first studio album from the band since its critically acclaimed 2007 In Defense of the Genre release, which Entertainment Weekly praised as an ambitious artistic statement and the Alternative Press called an opus that musicians more than twice Bemis age could only hope to create. Say Anything exploded onto the music scene with their 2004 Doghouse Records debut Is A Real Boy, which told the ultimate coming-of-age story in a swirling storm of sex, drugs, angst, and gut-wrenchingly honest rock & roll.

    Doug Sahm And Band

    Limited Edition Of 1000 Copies

    Pressed On Gold Vinyl

Produced By Jerry Wexler & Arif Mardin

Doug Sahm's first solo record was something of a coming out party, a big budget affair that let the world know what the insiders already knew: that Doug Sahm was a quintessentially American musical visionary. After The Sir Douglas Quintet concluded its contract with Smash/Mercury, Jerry Wexler convinced Sahm to sign with Atlantic and brought him to New York for the sessions that were to become Doug Sahm and Band. To call the personnel that Wexler and co-producer Arif Mardin assembled for the album star-studded is a severe understatement: among the musicians on this 1972 release were Dr. John, David Fathead Newman, David Bromberg, and Flaco JimÉnez (the first in a series of collaborations with Doug); Sir Doug stalwarts Augie Meyers, Jack Barber, and George Rains; and, of course, Bob Dylan, who contributes a hitherto-unheard song (Wallflower).

It is a testament to Sahm's boundless talent that all of these stellar musicians wanted to play with him; it's even more of a testament that despite all of the formidable artists in the room, and despite the fact that Sahm only wrote three of the album's 12 tunes, Doug Sahm and Band never sounds like anything but a Doug Sahm record. And a hell of a good one, too, highlighted by the anthemic (Is Anybody Going to) San Antone and the brilliant Willie Nelson cover Me and Paul. This turned out to be Doug's only charting solo album, but he was never about the money. What mattered to Doug was the groove, and this record has it in every one of 'em. Real Gone Music is proud to present the first-ever vinyl reissue of this classic record, limited to 1000 gold vinyl copies. A must for your American music collection.
