    Waltz For Debby

Recorded live at The Village Vanguard in New York on June 25, 1961, this was the fourth album by the Bill Evans Trio, composed of pianist Bill Evans, bassist Scott LaFaro, and drummer Paul Motian. Scott LaFaro was one of the supreme jazz bassists, a virtuoso player whose playing changed the very conception of his instrument. This album unfortunately also represents one of LaFaro's last performances, recorded just days before his tragic death at the age of 25 by automobile accident. Interestingly the album also contains tracks that Evans had recorded prior to working with LaFaro, so that this recording provides a very accurate index of the bassist's great contribution to the trio.

    Nights In Vienna

180 Gram Audiophile Vinyl Cut from the Original Analogue EMI Master Tapes at Abbey Road Studios

Rudolf Kempe has the true and significant gift of the truly great conductor. He is able and willing to lavish the same care and affection on good light music as on that of the supreme masters. So enthused W. A. Chislett on the 48 years old Kempe, who, by the time this recording of operatic overtures and waltzes was made, had gained a reputation as an opera conductor, having directed the Dresden Opera, the Vienna State Opera, the Bavarian State Opera (succeeding Solti) and conducted at Bayreuth. He was a favourite at Covent Garden but declined the director's job. Kempe was a conductor of international repute, with long associations with the Royal Philharmonic, Zurich Tonhalle and Munich Philharmonic, as well as his last, short-lived appointment as chief conductor of the BBC Symphony Orchestra. Kempe died on 12 May 1976 aged 65.

Cut at Abbey Road Studios from the original stereo analogue master tapes with the Neumann VMS82 lathe fed an analogue pre-cut signal from a specially adapted Studer A80 tape deck with additional 'advance' playback head, making the cut a totally analogue process. Pressed on 180 gram vinyl to audiophile standards using the original EMI presses by The Vinyl Factory in Hayes, England. Featuring the original album artwork, this recording is not otherwise generally available in any format. It contains rarely heard or recorded pieces by Heuberger and Reznicek.

In the original December 1958 review of the mono release W. A. Chislett of the GRAMOPHONE concluded: ... This is superb in every way, warm, intimate, beautifully phrased and poised and very finely recorded. How good in particular it is to hear Lehar's charming waltz given a full dress performance complete with prelude and postlude. ..and on the stereo release the following August, Chislett added: ...they all sound richer and warmer in the two-channel version.

Recorded on 20-22 February 1958 at the Grosser Saal, Musikverein, Vienna. Produced by the legendary Victor Olof and engineered by Harold Davidson.

    The Last Waltz

Mastered By Chris Bellman At Bernie Grundman Studios From The Original Analog Tapes And Pressed At RTI

On Thanksgiving Day 1976, The Band took the stage for the very last time at the Winterland Theatre in San Francisco for THE LAST WALTZ, which has gone on to become one of the most heralded performances of all time. Joining The Band on stage throughout the evening was an unprecedented group of pioneers in music including Eric Clapton, Neil Diamond, Bob Dylan, Dr. John, Joni Mitchell, Van Morrison, Muddy Waters, and Neil Young, among others.

The Band, more than any other group, put rock and roll back in touch with its roots. With their ageless songs and solid grasp of musical idioms, the Band reached across the decades, making connections for a generation that was, as an era of violent cultural schisms wound down, in desperate search of them. They projected a sense of community in the turbulent late Sixties and early Seventies - a time when the fabric of community in the United States was fraying.

Guitarist Robbie Robertson drew from history in his evocative, cinematic story-songs, and the vocal triumvirate of bassist Rick Danko, drummer Levon Helm and keyboardist Richard Manuel joined in rustic harmony and traded lines in rich, conversational exchanges. Multi-instrumentalist Garth Hudson provided musical coloration in period styles that evoked everything from rural carnivals of the early 20th century to rock and roll revues of the Fifties. Death Chants, Breakdowns, And Military Waltzes

Death Chants is John Fahey's second album, following the brilliantly apocryphal Blind Joe Death. As massive as that earlier work was, it represented only a tentative first step towards the fields of hodologic splendor that our hero would go on to create. Death Chants represents a much more fully realized syncretism of the modernist and primitive poles between which Fahey wobbled. It is also the first album he deigned to release entirely under his own name and the one with which he truly began to cast a shadow across the blandly-lit landscape of the world's subconscious.

''I'm glad that after 25 years, Death Waltz Recording Company has re-released the original soundtrack for Twin Peaks for a new audience to enjoy. This is my defining work as a composer and I'm happy it will get a fresh listen.''

    -Angelo Badalamenti, 2016

One of the greatest scores ever recorded is finally back in print for the first time in 25 years! We went back to the Warner archives, where engineer Tal Miller cut us brand new vinyl masters. We then worked with Dave Cheppa at Plush Vinyl to cut us new lacquers. Finally we asked Rainbo to press the record on 180g vinyl for the best possible sound quality.

The record comes housed inside a 425gsm gatefold sleeve featuring lyrics and liner notes by composer Angelo Badalamenti; the cover image by Sam Smith comes approved by David Lynch himself! The gatefold sleeve is then housed within a bespoke die cut outer jacket designed by Jay Shaw featuring super subtle white spot varnish text. The whole affair is finished with a top loading obi strip & pressed on 'Damn Fine Coffee' colored vinyl.

Remastered For Vinyl By James Plotkin

    Original Artwork From Mike Saputo

12-Page Booklet Featuring Extensive Liner Notes And Interviews With Key Composers And Cast Members

Death Waltz Recording Co. is proud to present an 8XLP box set containing the entire original scores to A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET, A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 2: FREDDY'S REVENGE, A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 3: DREAM WARRIORS, A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 4: THE DREAM MASTER, A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 5: THE DREAM CHILD, FREDDY'S DEAD: THE FINAL NIGHTMARE and WES CRAVEN'S NEW NIGHTMARE.

A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET is one of the most successful and beloved horror franchises in history and we are thrilled and honored to be releasing the entire series as a vinyl box set featuring 8 LPs from the original series, all remastered for vinyl by James Plotkin with incredible original artwork from Mike Saputo and a 12-page booklet featuring extensive liner notes and interviews with key composers and cast members.

The music of Elm Street is a huge part of the series, each film having its own unique sound and feel. Charles Bernstein created the original score, and Freddy's main theme that was used throughout the series. His score to the first film is nothing short of a landmark horror score and utterly defines American horror in the '80s - super downbeat, eerie and metallic. Christopher Young (HELLRAISER) supplied the score to FREDDY'S REVENGE, and takes the themes down a more orchestral route, layering sounds upon sounds to create a truly scary listen. Angelo Badalamenti (TWIN PEAKS) composed the score DREAM WARRIORS. Here he crafts moody textures and a woodwind section to create a dreamlike score that fits the theme of PART 3 perfectly. Craig Safan was bought on to compose THE DREAM MASTER, and with the help of a synth-clavier synthesizer he created one of the craziest horror scores of the '80s. Yeah, sure, it's scary and creepy, but it's also a ton of fun and totally unique. For THE DREAM CHILD, Jay Ferguson delivers a synth-heavy score with nods to fairground music and layers of church organs and weird choral samples. For THE FINAL NIGHTMARE, Australian composer Brian May mixes electronic and orchestrations to stunning effect and for the final film in the series. In NEW NIGHTMARE J. Peter Robinson gives us a super lush orchestrated nightmare that harkens back to Bernstein's original.

Fire Walk With Me is an altogether more brooding affair than the Twin Peaks series soundtrack. Badalamenti won a grammy for the title track of this LP and it's not hard to see why- it's dangerous, and bursting with smokey jazz thanks to Jimmy Scott. We went back to the master tapes in the Warner Archives and had this recut to fit across two LPs as the score clocks in at 51 minutes. It sounds incredible and punchy, but super nuanced too.

From the brooding opening bars of the main Fire Walk With Me Theme, Angelo Badalamenti's gorgeous, eerie score introduces us to a cinematic experience which significantly begins with the smashing of a television screen. Just as the Main Title from Blue Velvet echoed the Hitchcockian hues of Bernard Herrmann, so here we have just the slightest touch of Taxi Driver, as Jim Hynes' plaintive, keening trumpet soars above a landscape of melancholy keyboards, drawing us into a world which is at once alien and familiar.

'Time Out' is the 1959 album by The Dave Brubeck Quartet, based upon the use of time signatures that were unusual for jazz (mainly waltz or double-waltz time, but also 9/8, and most famously 5/4).
Although the album was intended as an experiment and received negative reviews by critics upon its release, it became one of the best-known and biggest-selling jazz albums ever! Obviously, timing is everything!

Just over 50 years after its original release, we present this timeless album on 180 grams audiophile vinyl.

Whether it's the bicycle-city sound of "Beijing", or the warmth of "a hole in the wall" in "sweet New Orleans" on "Big Bird in a Small Cage", or the haunting waltz of the title track, you can't help but feel in listening to Wooden Arms like you're on the road with the band. Sometimes it's dirty, sometimes it's wild, but it's never, ever boring.

New Jazz Conceptions was Bill Evans' first studio album recorded under his own name. However, by September 1956, at nearly 27-years old, he already had many studio recordings under his belt, and a lot of playing experience. The album primarily showcases Evans in a trio format, but also contains three solo piano tracks, one of which is Evans' earliest recording ever of his legendary composition Waltz for Debby. New Jazz Conceptions was well received by the jazz world, and mostly by his fellow musicians.

    Intolerance

1989's solo effort (originally issued by SST Records but long out of print), the first by a HUSKER DU member, lovingly reissued on 180-gram vinyl. Intolerance contains the Sounds magazine single of the week, 2541, a lament for lost love. Other rockers include Now That You Need Me, a very strong pop-rock song that was slated to be the single from the never made third HÜsker DÜ LP for Warner Bros. On the more introspective side of things, there is The Main, a traditional ballad in waltz time that tells the story of one man's descent into hell. Rollar Rink captures the atmosphere of a roller-skating party that has too many guests. Intolerance was a reaction to the sparse production of the Husker records and was GRANT HARTs first opportunity to reach for the sounds that were in his head all along.

    You Must Believe In Spring

You Must Believe In Spring is an album by jazz pianist Bill Evans recorded in August 1977. This well-rounded set features the highly influential pianist Bill Evans in a set of typically sensitive trio performances. With his longtime bassist Eddie Gomez and his drummer of the period, Eliot Zigmund, Evans explores such songs as We Will Meet Again, Jimmy Rowles's classic The Peacocks and the Theme from M*A*S*H. It's a solid example of the great pianist's artistry.

In Evans' hands, melodies and time signatures are often more whispered, more shadowed, than stated, as in the opening B Minor Waltz (For Ellaine) and the somber, reflective title track, which blossoms, after Gomez' mid-song solo. Evans boasted such a unique, unmistakable touch-emotional and beautiful and even soft, but never sweet. As a rule, Evans could pick up the program from an elementary school chorus festival and play it inventively and beautifully. This set is no exception.

    New Jazz Conceptions

A significant date in the history of legendary pianist Bill Evans' recording career, New Jazz Conceptions marks his maiden voyage as a leader and finds
the then 27-year-old pianist already sounding much different than the usual Bud Powell-influenced keyboardists of the time. Recorded in 1956, more than
a year before he joined the Miles Davis Sextet, this set finds Evans flashing his own unique chord voicings in a lyrical, swinging style. Three selections
here are taken solo (including the original version of his classic Waltz for Debby), while the other eight are performed in a trio with bassist Teddy Kotick
and drummer Paul Motian (including his future theme Five, Speak Low, and No Cover, No Minimum). A strong start to a significant career and a must

Certified Multi-Platinum (4 times) by the RIAA. (3/01)

The Eagles exploded on the charts in 1975 with One of These Nights, the first of four straight albums by the band to reach No. 1. The album was their most varied to date, with the discofied title track, the stately waltz Take It To the Limit, and the tough, cynical country rocker Lyin' Eyes. The album contains a couple of unusual numbers as well, including Bernie Leadon's psychedelic banjo showcase Journey of the Sorcerer and I Wish You Peace, which Leadon wrote with his then-girlfriend, future first daughter (by virtue of her parents, Ron and Nancy Reagan) and nude model (courtesy of Playboy), Patti Davis. --Daniel Durchholz

    Numbered Limited Edition!

Time Further Out continues the Dave Brubeck Quartet's exploration of unusual time signatures that began on the ensemble's definitive 1959 album Time Out. Accompanied by an all-star cast, the esteemed pianist arranging tunes according to the number of beats per bar, in the process rewriting rhythmic rules and dance steps. In fact, the tracks are ordered by the number of beats per bar, starting with It's a Raggy Waltz and Bluette in 3/4, Charles Matthew Hallelujah in 4/4, Far More Blue and Far More Drums in 5/4, Maori Blues in 6/4, Unsquare Dance in 7/4, Bru's Boogie Woogie in 8/8, and concluding with Blue Shadows in the Street in 9/8.

Like the original Time Out album, Time Further Out's cover features a work of modern art: a painting by Spanish artist Joan Miro. Mastered from the original analog tape by George Marino at Sterling Sounds in New York and pressed at RTI in Camarillo, California, this record has never sounded so alive or immediate. A must-have jazz benchmark.

    All We Grow

The debut album from S. Carey, All We Grow, is the result of a young lifetime spent immersed in music. As a band member of Bon Iver from the very beginning, Sean Carey witnessed a flip of his formal training to step firmly into a worldwide-touring rock band. His performance degree in classical percussion from the University of Wisconsin and his love for jazz drumming prepared him for a central role in the inspiring force of the Bon Iver live show.

All We Grow is a convergence of Carey's Waltz For Debby-era Bill Evans inflected jazz tendencies, and traditional rock band experience, taking leads from Mark Hollis' Talk Talk. It also retests the waters of modern classical composition, investigating the moodiness generated by percussive repetition in a manner familiar to fans of Steve Reich. In his downtime on tour with Bon Iver, Sean would spend time composing. During infrequent tour breaks at home he would patiently record these pieces, adding layers eachtime. Two years later, the parts converged to make an album.

For as much room to breathe as Carey allows his compositions, there are incredibly dynamic moments of bombast held right next to moments of subtle depth and texture. Engineered by Jaime Hansen and Brian Joseph, intermittently at home and at April Base (Justin Vernon's studio outside Eau Claire), All We Grow is an all-encompassing headphone experience as intimate as chamber music and as ambitious as a symphony.
