Warren Zevon (1st)Import
Warren Zevon is a Rock & Roll album recorded in 1975 and released in 1976 by the artist of the same name. The album features guest appearances of artists like Jackson Browne, Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks, Phil Everly, Don Henley and Glenn Frey, Bonnie Raitt and many more.
Warren Zevon was a ten-year music industry veteran who had written songs for The Turtles, backed up Phil Everly, done years of session work, and been befriended by Jackson Browne by the time he cut his self-titled album in 1976. Zevon sure didn't think (or write) like any of his pals in the Eagles or Fleetwood Mac; Zevon's music was full of blood, bile, and mean-spirited irony, and the glossy surfaces of Jackson Browne's production failed to disguise the bitter heart of the songs on Warren Zevon.
For all their darkness, Zevon's songs also possessed a steely intelligence, a winning wit, and an unusually sophisticated melodic sense, and he certainly made the most of the high-priced help who backed him on the album. This was the album that confirmed he was a major talent, and it remains a black-hearted Pop delight.1. Frank And Jesse James

Mastered Impeccably By Joe Reagoso From The Original Elektra Records Tapes
For an artist who first gained success as a songwriter with superstars like The Turtles, Linda Ronstadt, and
Jackson Browne, Warren Zevon's own acclaimed recordings proved to be a major force on the music scene for many
decades. His music transcended all genres of rock and pop music styles, fusing melodic landscapes with thought
provoking and somewhat controversial lyrical content during his successful reign on the album and radio charts.
After reaching platinum heights with his very popular Excitable Boy LP (Friday Music 9006), his amazing follow-up album Bad Luck Streak In Dancing School hit the rock charts again thanks to the remake of The Yardbirds classic
A Certain Girl as well as his smash collaboration with Bruce Springsteen on Jeannie Needs a Shooter.
The twelve track masterpiece is loaded with some even more time honored Warren Zevon classics like the rockers Play It All Night Long, Wild Age and Junglework, as well as melodic ballads like Empty-Handed Heart featuring his
superstar friend Linda Ronstadt on vocals, plus his collaboration with T-Bone Burnett on Bed of Coals.
The Bad Luck Streak In Dancing School sessions featured the musical talents of not only Warren Zevon but his
superstar friends like Jackson Browne, Glenn Frey, Don Henley, Joe Walsh and Don Felder from The Eagles, David
Lindley, J.D. Souther and the aforementioned songstress Linda Ronstadt.
This Warren Zevon masterpiece has been out of print on vinyl now for over two decades, however, Friday Music

Hasten Down The Wind (Awaiting Repress)Make Haste! Grab the Limited-Edition 180g LP of this Classic Now!
Did any musician have more talent at their beckon call during the 70s than Linda Ronstadt? Absolutely not. Part of her impeccable string of mid-1970s albums that defined California's soft-rock scene, the Grammy-winning Hasten Down the Wind is Ronstadt at her best and that's saying something. Consider the watertight repertoire: The Warren Zevon title track. Patsy Cline's (by way of Willie Nelson) 'Crazy.' Buddy Holly's 'That'll Be the Day.' Nelson's 'Down So Low.' Karla Bonoff's 'If He's Ever Near.' Ry Cooder's 'The Tattler.'
And then, there's the supporting cast, which includes Eagles legend Don Henley on drums and harmony vocals, folk-rock legend Peter Asher on guitar, session drumming master Russ Kunkel, and multi-instrumentalist sensation Andrew Gold playing just about everything with strings or skins. Couple this with the thematically revealing cover in a nod to the escapism of fantasy romance novels, the singer stands on a beach before an ocean and a running horse, her exposing dress a sign of the lovesick vulnerability that colors the songs and Hasten Down the Wind is the complete package of sensuality, passion, and poignancy.
Now, due to Mobile Fidelity's trademark sonic restoration, the album finally has the exquisite sound it has always deserved. Listeners can now literally feel Ronstadt's deep-seeded emotions. Even better, her covers of affecting ballads and midtempo country-rock numbers intentionally revolve around vocal-heavy arrangements. It's no wonder that the album, which topped the country charts, also yielded two Top 20 hits and resulted in the artist's first platinum-record award.
But make haste! Quantities are limited, and, unlike Ronstadt's timeless interpretations, this will not be around forever.

Excitable Boy is the third album by Warren Zevon, released in 1978. It includes the top 40 success Werewolves of London, featuring Mick Fleetwood on drums and John McVie on bass. The album brought Warren to commercial attention and remains the best-selling album of his career.
The tracks Excitable Boy and Werewolves of London were considered macabrely humorous by some critics. The historical Veracruz dramatizes the United States occupation of Veracruz, and likewise Roland the Headless Thompson Gunner is a fictionalization of a mercenary in Africa. Lawyers, Guns and Money is a tongue-in-cheek take on Cold War paranoia. In addition, there are two ballads about life and relationships (Accidentally Like a Martyr and Tenderness on the Block), as well as a dance tune (Nighttime in the Switching Yard).
Additional musicians included in the album's creation are band members Jorge Calderón on vocals, Danny Kootch Kortchmar on percussion and guitar, and Russ Kunkel on drums. Among others, also Jackson Browne, Jeff Porcaro, Linda Ronstadt and Waddy Wachtel are featured as session musicians.1. Johnny Strikes Up The Band

Lowell George's Final Masterpiece + 1 Bonus Track Not On Original Vinyl
Featuring Bonnie Raitt, Billy Payne, Richie Hayward, Fred Tackett, Nicky Hopkins, David Foster & More
Mastered Impeccably By Joe Reagoso From The Original Warner Bros. Tapes
For an artist who first gained success as a songwriter and moved on to a stunning career with his band of
renown Little Feat, the late great Lowell George continually proved to be a major force on the music scene for his short
time on earth. His music transcended all genres of music styles, fusing rock, R&B and folk landscapes with thought
provoking and stellar lyrical content during his successful reign on the album and radio charts.
After reaching very successful heights with Little Feat, Lowell decided it was time to record a solo album with
1979's Thanks I'll Eat It Here.
Thanks I'll Eat It Here finds Lowell George groovin' back to the earlier boogie and New Orleans rock and R&B
feel found on his earlier Little Feat albums. Released a very short time before his untimely death, the album included
his brilliant 20 Million Things, a funk infused Little Feat revisit with Two Trains, plus several inspiring collaborations
with notable friends like Van Dyke Parks and Little Feat's Fred Tackett, as well as significant cover versions like Allen
Toussaint's What Do You Want the Girl to Do, which the late artist truly made his own.
The all-star recording sessions included some of the finest talents and close friends like Bonnie Raitt, John David
Souther, John Phillips, Jim Keltner, Nicky Hopkins (Quicksilver, Rolling Stones) David Foster, Floyd Sneed and Jimmy
Greenspoon (Three Dog Night), David Paich and Jeff Porcaro (Toto), and of course a handful of the original Little Feat
alumni like Richie Hayward, Fred Tackett and Billy Payne.
Out-of-print on viny for several decades now, Friday Music is very honored to offer Lowell George's first and only
solo album Thanks I'll Eat It Here/The Deluxe Edition. For this special occasion, we are including the rare original CD
only release of Heartaches featuring a stellar duet with Valerie Carter.
In addition to the newly impeccably mastered original recording, we are also enclosing the original LP sized
artwork elements in a first time rare gatefold cover featuring Neon Park's stunning front cover, as well as liner notes
from Lowell George to enhance this wonderful and classic self-produced album.

Hollywood Holidays: The Classic 1991 Radio Broadcast1000 Only Limited Edition
This remarkable release captures The Pixies at their finest, immediately before Christmas 1991, playing a show - broadcast by public radio network KCRW FM - at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles.
From the outset, this legendary New England four piece are at the very top of their game - opening with the savage rip-snorting blast of Rock Music, before powering into the gloriously riff-driven surf instrumental Cecilia Ann.
Even when pausing for breath, the slower numbers like Gouge Away and Subbacultcha are tough-as-nails and seethe with a barely contained fury. In addition to the usual Francis-Santiago-Deal-Lovering quartet, this performance benefits from the added keyboard wizardry of the mighty Ubus Eric Drew Feldman, who beefs up The Pixies live sound still further.
Eventually, Kim Deals dissatisfaction with Black Francis autocratic leadership style and almost complete domination of the songwriting credits, led to the band splitting apart in early 1993. They took an eleven year career-break - while Francis forged a solo career and Deal went on to achieve further success with The Breeders - and then reconvened in 2004 with the same line-up, albeit - save for a brace of digital singles and a contribution to the Warren Zevon tribute album - only in a live capacity. That much anticipated fifth studio album has yet to materialise.
This December 1991 set is naturally heavily weighted towards the bands then current record, Trompe Le Monde, which had been released just three months earlier in September. All but two of its fifteen songs are represented here - Space (I Believe In) and the title track being the only omissions.
Head On, originally by the Jesus and Mary Chain, is a rare cover version amongst the Black Francis compositions. The only other non-original here is Cecilia Ann, a number cut in the early 1960s by The Surftones. The latter was included on The Pixies 1990 album, Bossanova which also contributes Rock Music and Velouria.
Delving a little further back in time, Gouge Away, Crackity Jones, Wave of Mutilation and Monkey Gone to Heaven are all drawn from Doolittle (1989). Thematically linked - and played back-to-back here - are Manta Ray and Dancing the Mantra Ray, both originally only released as single b-sides. Finally, there is Ed Is Dead, the lone representative from The Pixies debut EP, Come on Pilgrim, released in October 1987.LP 1

Born October 7, 1944, and hailing from California, Judith
Lynn Sill was an American singer-songwriter who learned
how to play piano in her father's Oakland bar. She met,
befriended and started opening shows for Graham Nash
and David Crosby in the mid-to-late 1960s.
After a bit of interest from Atlantic Records, David Geffen
offered Judee a contract and she became the first artist to
sign with his then-fledgling Asylum label. During her early
days at Asylum, she sold her song "Lady-O" to the Turtles and
was featured on the cover of Rolling Stone. Graham Nash
produced her first single, "Jesus Was A Cross Maker," off her
self-titled debut album which was released on September
15, 1971 and engineered by Henry Lewy (Joni Mitchell). The
song was inspired by her romance with singer-songwriter
JD Souther, who later wrote the song "Something In the
Dark" about her. The album featured Sill's voice in multiple
overdubs, often in a four-part chorale or fugue. Her debut
album was not a commercial success, despite good reviews.
Sill took over orchestration and arrangements for her
second album, Heart Food, which was released in March
of 1973. The album was critically acclaimed but sold poorly
and ended her association with Asylum and David Geffen.
Judee continued to write songs and in 1974 began to record
new material planned for a third album that was never
finished. Sill continued to struggle with drug addiction
and health problems, eventually dropping out of the music
scene completely. Judee tragically died of a drug overdose
on November 23, 1979, at her apartment in North Hollywood.
Sill's music was not commercially viable at the time but
was incredibly influential as well as ground-breaking and
many notable songwriters such as Andy Partridge, Liz Phair,
Warren Zevon and Shawn Colvin have been fans of her work.
Her songs have been covered by the Hollies, Cass Elliott,
Warren Zevon, Beth Orton, Bill Callahan, Bonnie Prince Billy,
Ron Sexsmith, The Fruit Bats and many more.LP 1

Middle BrotherMiddle Brother (Taylor Goldsmith of Dawes, John McCauley of Deer Tick and Matthew Vasquez of Delta Spirit) played their first show at 2010's SXSW, a tiny late-night unannounced event under the moniker MG&V. Other than recording the album and rehearsing once, they had never played the songs live. The audience (and the mob of onlookers crammed in the doorways and windows) were treated to an impossible-to-forget set by a band of musical comrades who seemed genuinely surprised by the fire that was ignited on stage. It was a rollicking and boisterous show that could have fallen apart at any moment and instead centrifuged into melodic and harmonic brilliance. What held it together was each member's sense of song and performance, a perfect, intuitive balance of craft and feel, equal parts playful and earnest.
In a time when synthesizers and laptops are taking over stages, Goldsmith, McCauley and Vasquez are leading the pack of young rock songwriters who strive to carry on the tradition of figures such as Neil Young, Bruce Springsteen, Warren Zevon and Tom Petty. Middle Brother came together in mid-2009 when the three song-smiths realized, after several on-stage collaborations, that they shared a unique vision and wanted to take it one step further, into the studio. Their songs are anthemic, soulful, passionate and confessional.
The 12 tracks on Middle Brother are the result of their off-the-cuff yet diligent workshop experience. The songs are world-class, the performances raw and immediate as each member pushed the other to bring the best of what they do to the proceedings. The record captures a potent moment in time for these three burgeoning songwriting stars who are just beginning to feel the real power in their respective talents. The members of Middle Brother are confident, but not resolute and stuck. They are willing to explore and are open to each others ideas as they work towards the common ideal of the redemptive power of the song.1. Daydreaming

Let Freedom RingImport
Prophet started his wild ride back in 1984, when Green on Red, the
seminal purveyors of American Rock-Roots, plucked him out of
Berkeley, CA and threw him in the van for an eight-year ride, and the
recording of as many albums. Since then Prophet has recorded nine
amazing solo albums and toured and recorded with the likes of
Lucinda Williams, Aimee Mann, Cake, and Jonathan Richman, not to
mention production credits for Warren Zevon, Alejandro Escovedo
and Kelly Willis. Ryan Adams, Solomon Burke and Heart have
recorded his songs, along with a host of others. Prophet has never
been one to rest on his laurels and ride it out.
For his ninth solo album Let Freedom Ring, Chuck reached out to
some musicians and talked them into going down to Mexico City, The
Biggest City in the World (pop. 25 million). Recorded at Estudio 19, a
state-ofthe- art studio (well, circa 1958 state-of-the-art anyway) with
Greg Leisz (Beck, Wilco, Emmylou Harris) coproducing.
Within three days of arriving swine flu broke out and the indignity of
having to wear blue surgical masks just to fit in.
Over the course of the next eight days, the band set about recording
¡Let Freedom Ring!, enduring a poorly timed blackout, shakedowns
by the Policia, and a 6.4 earthquake mid-take - Mexico City might only
be 4 hours away by plane but it might as well have been on the other
side of the moon. But whilst mayhem ensued, the band buckled down
to the task in hand, all set up together in a tight little bamboo lined
room with the amps cranked. Chuck played his Fender Squire, Kelly
Stoltz on backing vocals, Rusty Miller (Jason Lyte‟s band) played
bass while Drummer Ernest Boom Carter turned his sticks into
kindling. Carter played on Springsteen‟s Born To Run - he promptly
quit the E Street Band after they spent 6 months recording it. The
