    You're Welcome

    Pressed On Blue Vinyl

Via Ghost Ramp, Williams isn't just putting out Wavves' new record, he's signing other local garage bands, funding his tours, schooling DIY artists in how to create and distribute merchandise in a way that supports your career and provides future security where nobody else can. As for Warners, that cash advance helped pay for this store. The rest came from the money Wavves made off merch during 2016's Summer Is Forever II Tour with Best Coast and Cherry Glazerr. "I thought Ghost Ramp would be a hobby, doing 7-inches here and there. But now it's a legitimate business," says Williams. "The thing is I'm not just interested in making music for Wavves. I'm too ADD. Being an entrepreneur, being hands-on isn't just smart, it's necessary. Your art is everything you do, every choice you make. I was able to build my own thing, own it and control it all 100%. If I want to do something now I don't ask anyone. I just fucking do it - that's priceless." Nathan Williams never went away, but now he's made sure he's here to stay far longer. And for that, girls and boys, you're welcome.

    Afraid Of Heights

Straight from the dungeons of L.A., Wavves deliver Afraid Of Heights, their fourth album. Now a duo consisting of guitarist Nathan Williams and bassist Stephen Pope, they sound bigger, brasher, and shockingly more professional than ever on Afraid Of Heights which positions the band to take their rightful place amongst the pop-punk gods. You know the story by now. Bored dude in his parents' tool shed-turned-room with no insulation and a record stuck to a hole in the wall to keep the mice out turns on a four-track recorder, fucks around and ends up with two of the oddest, noisiest, and downright catchiest albums in recent memory.

The product of more than a year of writing and recording, Afraid Of Heights expands the Wavves sound while remaining true to the band's original vision - it was created with absolutely no label involvement, a specter that nearly derailed King Of The Beach. Working with producer John Hill (known for his work with M.I.A. and Santigold, as well as with hip-hop acts such as Nas and the Wu-Tang Clan), the band found a willing party in creating what they felt was the truest expression of what they wanted. As for the Afraid Of Heights sessions themselves, Williams paid for them out-of-pocket, explaining his reasoning with, In doing so, I had no one to answer to. We recorded the songs how and when we wanted without anybody interfering, and that's how it's supposed to be.

Lyrically, Williams took the focus less off of his own melancholy and out into the world, with songs that dealt with crooked preachers (Sail To The Sun), relationships (Dog) and killing cops (Cop). Even when he reaches outside his own damaged psyche, Williams is still making Wavves songs, saying, The general theme of the record is depression and anxiety, being death-obsessed and paranoid of impending doom. I feel like the narration is almost schizophrenic if you listen front to back; every word is important, even the constant contradictions and lack of self-worth. That's all a part of this record-questioning everything not because I'm curious, but because I'm paranoid. That paranoia manifests itself on many of the album's best tracks, such as the spacey drones and bummazoid vibes of the Weezer-referencing, getting-drunk-because-you-can't-bring-yourself-to-care-vibey Afraid Of Heights, or the string-aided I Can't Dream, which rounds the record out with the optimistic, I can finally sleep, before subverting itself with, But I can't dream. With their biggest and boldest-sounding record yet, Wavves might have finally come into their own, a fully-realized punk rock force in both sound and vision.

    King Of The Beach

King of the Beach, the new Wavves album is an adventurous and ambitious record. It cuts deeper into the bleeding throat catharsis and 60s sunshine soul that Wavves is known for. It also unexpectedly flips out with elements of primitive electronics and psychedelic studio experimentation. Unlike Wavves previously released material, recorded in haphazard bursts on Williams laptop, King of the Beach was toiled over for three months at Sweet Tea Recording, a world-renowned studio in Oxford, Mississippi. Sweet Tea is also the home of Dennis Herring, producer of the last two Modest Mouse albums, and the man who dismantled and re-assembled the sound on this record.

After a hugely successful 2011, Caveman continue their exciting rise in 2012 with a new tour including Europe, their first headlining gig at Bowery Ballroom and the proud news of Caveman signing to Fat Possum Records. Now their self-released and critically acclaimed debut album CoCo Beware will be available through the independent label that's home to an illustrious roster including The Black Keys, Band of Horses, Wavves, Yuck, Spiritualized, The Walkmen, Smith Weterns and Lissie among others.

In 2011, Caveman garnered praise for their debut album CoCo Beware from outlets like NPR, The New York Times, and Fader and for their big sounding, impressive and completely unforgettable live shows alike. NPR Music charted them as their #7 most favorite live show after seeing them at CMJ in October and named them Discovery of 2011 in their year-end edition of All Songs Considered.

    Manhattan

When it came time to record their Warner Bros. debut, the band looked directly to its hometown for inspiration. MANHATTAN is more than an album -it's a statement of purpose and a portrait of life in New York City. We were all bartenders, so the songs are tales of experiences we had or saw, and other people who were characters in our life during the first year we were in this band, Cummings says. (And for the record, SKATERS chose their band name because it captures their young and fearless attitude.

The album kicks off with subway noises, Because that's the sound of our lives, Cummings says. The disc was even recorded by John Hill (Santigold, Wavves) in the API room at Greenwich Village's iconic Electric Lady Studios, named after its one-of-a-kind board.

MANHATTAN features other little pieces of the city, too, in the form of sounds and conversations Hubbard nabbed on an old-school handheld tape recorder. There's a cab ride in there, there's kids yelling in Brooklyn, girls talking in a cafÉ, Rubin says. It's like a book of short stories, Cummings adds, deadpanning, It's Salinger's Nine Stories but it's Eleven Stories by SKATERS. And the writing is much better.

    Language & Perspective

Los Angeles natives, Bad Suns, are pleased to announce the release of their debut album, Language & Perspective. Comprised of eleven tracks,
Language & Perspective moves effortlessly from start to finish showcasing the band's stadium ready anthems and undeniably catchy hooks.Produced by
Eric Palmquist (The Mars Volta, Wavves, Trash Talk) Language & Perspective serves as a follow up to the band's breakout debut EP Transpose, which
hit streets earlier this year. In a short time since their inception, Bad Suns have performed the first single, 'Cardiac Arrest,' on Conan and the track is
already fast approaching Top 20 at Alt Radio with a weekly audience of 1 million plus and building."It's pretty incredible what you can accomplish with
time, work, and patience. Playing our songs to receptive audiences, across the country, has been surreal for us; it's what we've always dreamed of. We're
excited for people to hear the album that we've made, and then come experience it in a live setting," says frontman Christo Bowman. Bad Suns is

    The Sides And In Between

The Sides And In Between is the new album from Atlanta band Gringo Star, their first for Nevado Records.

If you know a little about brothers Nick and Peter Furgiuele's roots, it all makes sense. Our grandad started out in radio in the 40s and 50s in Columbus, GA., Nick explains. He was a huge promoter of R&B back when it was still super segregated, and he was playing black music and putting on shows with Little Stevie Wonder, James Brown, Sam Cooke & the Soul Stirrers, a lot of Gospel shows. So we grew up hearing all these stories, listening to all this music. Our grandfather was inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame posthumously. And my grandma all her photo albums are like Jackie Wilson shirtless backstage, hanging out. Not to mention how Nick and Peter used to raid their parents record collections, cutting their teeth on the likes of Buddy Holly, The Animals and The Kinks. Our favorite music comes from the 50s, Peter says, and that music influenced all the 60s bands we like.

The band has toured relentlessly across the U.S. and Europe building a diehard underground following while sharing bills with everyone from Cat Power and Feist to The Black Angels and Weezer, and also touring with Wavves, Best Coast, And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead and fellow Atlantans The Black Lips.
