Wicked PickettWicked Pickett (1966) is a fabulous Soul album, done when Pickett was in the midst of his best period at Atlantic. Sever The Wicked HandLimited Edition
This US quartet, formed in 1989, emerged in the early 90s as one of the leading lights of the New Orleans extreme metal scene, purveying a sound that blended Black Sabbath/Saint Vitus-styled heaviness with hardcore aggression. Kirk Windstein (b. 14 April 1965, Wiltshire, England; vocals/guitar), Todd Strange (b. 1966, USA; bass) Kevin Noonan (guitar) and Craig Nunenmacher (drums) made their debut in 1991 with the dark and doom-laden Obedience Thru Suffering, after which Noonan was replaced by Matt Thomas, a former bandmate of Pantera frontman Phil Anselmo in Razor White. Anselmo, an old friend who collaborates with Windstein on side-projects such as Down and Both Legs Broken, helped to refine and improve the band`s sound with his sympathetic production on Crowbar, which included a brutally heavy interpretation of Led Zeppelin`s `No Quarter`, adapted stylishly to the Crowbar sound.
The band was well received on tour with Paradise Lost in the UK and Pantera in the USA, and released the Live +1 EP (which was packaged with Crowbar in the UK) before returning to the studio with the stated intention of making Crowbar sound `like Jethro Tull`. In 1995, Eyehategod guitarist Jimmy Bower (b. 1966, USA), who had played with the original line-up in 1989, was recruited as the band`s new drummer, although Time Heals Nothing was recorded with Nunenmacher. True to form and promise, it provided a thunderous blast of controlled aggression and dark melodicism. Guitarist Sammy Pierre Duet (ex-Acid Bath) joined in time to help record 1996`s Broken Glass.
Bower left following the release of the 1998 follow-up Odd Fellows Rest. He was replaced by Sid Montz on 2000`s Equilibrium, following which Strange retired from the music scene and Nunemacher departed the ranks for a second time. Subsequent albums have seen sole remaining founding member Windstein joined by an ever-changing cast list of personnel.LP 1

TribalLast summer Imelda May became a mother for the first time. You might expect her to turn to singing ballads. You would be horribly wrong.
"There are no lullabies on this album," laughs the lady who's brought rockabilly back into fashion sixty years after it was kicked into life by young men like
Carl Perkins and Elvis Presley, Gene Vincent and Jerry Lee Lewis.
"Tribal" is as primal a rock 'n' roll record as you could ever find, infused with the spirit of Sun Studios, where the sound was born in Memphis, Tennessee -
but given a 21st century kick up the butt by a girl from the back streets of Dublin.
Tribal" - her third album, following "Love Tattoo" and the Top Ten hit "Mayhem" - is her punchiest yet.
The songs on "Tribal" are infused with the rebel spirit that launched rock 'n' roll on an unsuspecting world way back in the mid-1950s, but also the rebel
spirit of the punk bands Imelda admired growing up in Dublin in the late 1970s as the youngest of five siblings - The Clash and The Undertones, The
Buzzcocks and The Cramps.
The motto for the way Imelda lives her life is the title of her new single 'It's Good To Be Alive'. "I wrote it in the early hours of the morning one day after I
had the baby," she reveals. "I was sleep-deprived and feeling very exhausted. I looked out of the window, watched the sun rise through the trees and felt
- God, it's good to be alive!"
Other song titles sum up Imelda's zest for life. 'It's Good To Be Alive'. 'I Wanna Dance'. 'Wicked Way'. 'Wild Woman'. Especially the latter, with its chorus:
"There's a wild woman livin' inside of me/A wicked, wicked wild woman, dyin' to be free". "You see people toning it down and becoming more responsible

ADAD-SEC-1515xAntony And The Johnsons
SwanlightsSwanlights is the new album from Antony and the Johnsons, set to release in North America via Secretly Canadian. While I Am a Bird Now was arresting in its simplicity and vision and The Crying Light is a masterpiece of austerity, Swanlights may be Antonys most wide-ranging emotional work to date.
It is a record that is at moments excruciating and tender, and at other times has a wicked gleam to its teeth. Musically its the most maximal of his work to date. Whereas on The Crying Light, Antony paired everything back to its most distilled and essential, on Swanlights the vines have become overgrown and the sound palette has become more exotic, strange percussive elements, John Cale-esque string drones, heavily distorted guitars and symphonic voicings thread the song cycle together.
Swanlights is the fourth Antony and the Johnsons album and the follow up to the critically acclaimed smash The Crying Light which topped year-end best of lists across the globe in 2009. Antony burst into the international spotlight with his second album, I Am a Bird Now, which won the UKs prestigious Mercury Music Prize.1. Everything Is New

Temples of BoomWith this album Cypress Hill turned towards a more tranquil, sedate, slower, spooky sound with beats. The dark mood of this album reflects the strife within the band during this era, when member Sen Dog temporarily left the band to pursue other projects.
On this album both Wu-Tang Clan members RZA and U-God make appearances on Killa Hill Niggas. Also notable was track No Rest For The Wicked which ignited the feud between Cypress Hill and rapper Ice Cube, who they claimed, stole material from the band. At the time this album was well received by critics worldwide.
Q - 4 Stars - Excellent - The production is sophisticated, incorporating Indian sitar and sloping, almost psychedelic bass grooves to create a vaguely threatening ambient hardcore.
Melody Maker - Bloody Essential - resonates with freakish cheese-wire paranoia a gobsmacking paradox of expansive claustrophobia. The funk patters like an erratic heartbeat, the voices are stretched to bursting with menace and loathing and mockery

Descending Angel'90s-era MISFITS fiend fave Descending Angel has been re-recorded with a brand new 2013 treatment by The Devil's Rain lineup (Jerry Only, Dez Cadena and Eric Chupacabra Arce).
The new single features wicked cover art by Jeff Zornow.
MISFITS released their first proper live album since the 1980s, Dea.d. Alive!, on February 5.
With select tracks from the band's encore set at their hometown show in New Jersey added for good measure, (recorded live on Devil's Night, no less), Dea.d. Alive! is an audio Molotov cocktail guaranteed to have bonfires burning bright with pumpkin faces, day or night, all year round. Speakers will virtually melt as a torrential downpour of Devil's Rain engulfs the senses, catapulting you front row center into a jam-packed house of horrors.
The diverse set of modern day MISFITS classics included range from current hits like Land Of The Dead and Curse Of The Mummy's Hand, on through all-new live versions of earlier-era material like Scream!, Dig Up Her Bones, Helena and more - recorded live, with a level of precision and intensity garnered in over three decades of horror business. In addition to 13 fiendish faves from the band's cryptic catalog, the live set also includes a cover version of the anthem Science Fiction/Double Feature (from the cult classic Rocky Horror Picture Show) performed by the MISFITS for the first time ever on any release!

Dressed To KillBy the release of their third album, 1975's Dressed to Kill, Kiss were fast becoming America's top rock concert attraction, yet their record sales up to this point did not reflect their ticket sales. Casablanca label head Neil Bogart decided to take matters into his own hands, and produced the new record along with the band. The result is more vibrant sounding than its predecessor, 1974's sludgefest Hotter Than Hell, and the songs have more of an obvious pop edge to them. The best-known song on the album by far is the party anthem Rock and Roll All Nite, but it was the track C'Mon and Love Me that became a regional hit in the Detroit area, giving the band their first taste of radio success. Since the band was on the road for a year straight, songs such as Room Service and Ladies in Waiting dealt with life on the road (i.e., groupies), and a pair of songs were reworked from Kiss' precursor band, Wicked Lester (Love Her All I Can and She). With Dressed to Kill's Top 40 showing on the Billboard charts, the stage was now set for Kiss' big commercial breakthrough with their next release.

Nailbomb was a side project by Sepultura's Max Cavalera and producer/engineer Alex Newport in the mid-1990s. Point Blank is their only studio album, originally released in 1994 by Roadrunner Records. The album combines the thrash-metal fury of Sepultura with the robotic industrial clangor of Fudge Tunnel.
Nearly the entire Sepultura lineup is present on the guest list - both Andreas Kisser and Igor Cavalera are credited. Also Dino Cazares of Fear Factory and Ritchie Bujnowski from Wicked Death are featured on the album. The first track Wasting Away, appears in the 1995 film To Die For. Exploitation is a cover originally by the English crust punk band Doom.
Relentless grinding riffs, and an industrial-strength percussive roar, the lyrics are uniformly nihilistic and the album is riddled with left-field samples that add a disorienting, dehumanizing texture. This is an ass-kicking album, that is full-on malevolent from the get-go. Point Blank is abrasive, in your face, and loud as hell with the lid off.1. Wasting Away

Sunset MotelBeginning with Millican, 1998's self-released debut, Reckless Kelly emblazoned a reputation as no-nonsense insurgents capable of raising the rafters while still retaining the heart, soul and sentiment that can only come from honesty, soul and conviction. With every album that followed - Under the Table and Above the Sun (2003), Wicked Twisted Road (2005), Bulletproof (2008), Somewhere in Time (2010), the Grammy-nominated Good Luck & True Love (2011) and the Grammy-winning Long Night Moon (2013) - they've affirmed that commitment, not only in their devotion to essential Americana, but by emulating its very definition as well. No individual or any ensemble, and certainly no poser or pretender better exemplify what that broad genre is all about than this band called Reckless Kelly.
Nowhere is that more evident that on the group's new album Sunset Motel, an effort that effectively sums up their strengths while marking a new milestone as well. Return Of The CoolBuzzing Walterboro, SC rapper Nick Grant will unveil his full-length debut project, Return of The Cool. The album boasts 12 new tracks, including the latest single "Luxury Vintage Rap," "Get Up" (feat. WatchTheDuck), "The Sing Along" (feat. Rico Barrino), and more.
Offering a glimpse at the MC's fiery and fresh style, "Luxury Vintage Rap" highlights his wise and wicked wordplay over nineties-style production. With a bulletproof cadence, he serves up slick, sizzling, and scorching bars such as, "I'm cut from Biggie's Gucci sweater cloth."
Growing up in the tiny town of Walterboro, SC, Nick Grant found a window to a much bigger world through hip-hop as a kid. He obsessed over classics by Jay-Z, 2Pac, Nas, OutKast, and A Tribe Called Quest, while writing countless rhymes of his own. In 2014, he inked a deal with Culture Republic-run by music industry veterans Jason Geter, Chaka Zulu and Bernard Parks, Jr. February 2016 saw him unleash his '88 mixtape featuring collaborations with the likes of Killer Mike and Big K.R.I.T. Soon, he was garnering praise from Vibe, XXL, HipHopDX, Pigeons and Planes, and more in addition to lighting up the 2016 BET Hip-Hop Awards Cypher as well as Funk Master Flex's Hot 97 radio show and Sway in the Morning. In 2017, Grant harks back to rap's revolutionary era over two decades ago, while bringing a decidedly modern heat of his own. Symmetry In BlackFirst time available on vinyl - Celebrating the 25th anniversary of Crowbar with the release of Symmetry in Black
In a genre as prone to flights of fancy as heavy metal, Crowbar have always felt like a grounding presence, anchored to reality with their seemingly impossible heaviness. Keeping up their good works, the New Orleans sludge metal masters return with their tenth album, Symmetry in Black, an exercise in consistency that proves the band is still up to the task after 25 years of brooding sonic devastation. The album finds the band shifting gears from the pummeling assault of 2011's excellent Sever the Wicked Hand to something slower (though with Crowbar that's a fairly relative term).
Some things haven't changed, however, namely the powerful playing and singing of Kirk Windstein, whose anguished bellows and penchant for lumbering riffs continue to act as Crowbar's bellwether. While this consistency has been key to their longevity, what really makes Crowbar special is their relatability. When other bands are off telling tales of demons and black rituals, Windstein and company take on earthly woes like addiction and fearing our own mortality. Despite their delivery over a brooding, glacially paced riff, lines like Reject the thought of losing what is mine/Ascend above your own demise, from Reflection of Deceit, feel like they're meant to empower listeners rather than bring them down. Symmetry in Black is an album that shows us we don't have to waste our time fighting imaginary enemies, because the real world is plenty full of darkness that, much like Crowbar themselves, is always there.1. unassuming way, a triumph
As an accomplished 12-string guitarist/composer, Alexander Turnquist was naturally
alarmed when the ulnar nerve in his left hand seized up in 2013, but after a surgical procedure he gratefully started the process of learning to play guitar again. His recovery was
cut short when not long after the surgery he was hospitalized with meningitis. Though his

memory loss, he was inspired to soldier on, rather than being deterred by his physical
Turnquist's latest full-length Flying Fantasy confirms the idea that out of great hardship
can come great art. As he wrote the material for the new album it became clear that his
sensitivity had sharpened, his empathy magnified, and his sense of purpose blossomed.
The unfortunate circumstances he endured ostensibly forced his metamorphosis from a
remarkable guitar player to a truly great composer. Much like the butterflies that adorn
the album cover, he seems to have changed form and taken flight.
The album opens with the sparse harmonics of House of Insomniacs, which are soon
joined by lush swells of vibes, cello, and even wordless vocals. On the tracks that follow,
Turnquist continues to make use of this dynamic sonic pallet, even adding organ, piano,
marimba, steel drums, violin, and french horn to the mix. From Red Carousel, which was
inspired by Ray Bradbury's Something Wicked This Way Comes, to the somber lilt of the love
song Wildflower, to the truly arresting title track Flying Fantasy which uses only 4 open
strummed guitars and loops of damaged tape and wire recorders, every note vibrates with
life as Turnquist ushers us though his intoxicatingly colorful worlds of sound.1. House of Insomniacs

We The PeopleHard rock icons Adrenaline Mob have had their fair share of challenges in the past but have risen to each & every one continuing to march forward yet again & again! Formed by guitarist Mike Orlando & vocalist Russell Allen they joined forces with drummer Mike Portnoy & bassist John Moyer to launch the band's debut. The band eventually parted ways with drummer Mike Portnoy due to scheduling conflicts & brought drum legend AJ Pero into the fold. Only two years after the debut was released, the group was involved in a major vehicle accident while on the road with Avenged Sevenfold and Hellyeah. Then, in 2015, Adrenaline Mob lost drummer and long-time friend drum legend A.J. Pero to a heart attack while on tour with Drowning Pool. In 2017, Adrenaline Mob have now replenished the ranks with newcomers David Zablidowsky on bass and Jordan Cannata on drums for work on their latest effort, 'We The People'.
Recorded once again at Sonic Stomp Studios over a year-plus period, We the People sounds huge. Each riff is massive, every drum hit a chest-thumping pound, and each line Russell vocalizes exudes unbelievable power and heart. Life-changing events may've halted Adrenaline Mob, but the group's third full-length is proof positive they're stronger now than they've ever been. Tracks like the raging 'Blind Leading the Blind', the big-hitting 'King of the Ring', the rhythmically wicked 'What Do You Really Want', and the rock radio-tailored title track evince purpose and authority. In every way, We the People puts the hard in hard rock. And the metal in heavy. Orlando was responsible for composing the music, engineering, recording, co-producing, mixing, and mastering and that all says one thing: the dude's a beast. Along with the incredible talents & amazing voice of his co-producing partner Allen who is by far one of rocks greatest voices, the two seem unstoppable on We The People.
As the title, We the People, indicates there's a political side to Adrenaline Mob. Throughout their years as a musicians and songwriters, they hadn't stayed silent on matters significant. Whether they were masked in metaphor or flatly conspicuous, they've always poured their feelings into song. It was, as Orlando puts it, a form of catharsis. So, as they were watching the presidential campaigns, feeling the negativity-the constant bickering and finger pointing-they knew Adrenaline Mob's next venture would be impacted. In fact, the first song Orlando began writing for We the People was the politically-charged rocker 'Blind Leading the Blind'. "The title track is very much inspired by the past election year," confirms Allen. "It touches on our society, here in America. The album title is a reflection of our times. The songs have certain particular stories that stand on their own. Many of them are also driven by the climate we live in today & some are about having a good time, being free & loving rock n roll. All the tracks have a personality and character to them."
Undoubtedly, the re-energized Adrenaline Mob will face adversity with We the People. But the strong always rise. Adrenaline Mob have proven they have the fortitude and music to prevail over anything. We the People, folks. It's time to rise up with Adrenaline Mob!LP 1

Blues of DesperationGRAMMY-nominated blues-rock guitar icon Joe Bonamassa announces his 20160solo album, Blues of Desperation (J&R Adventures). Like his previous solo disc, 2014's Top 10 Billboard hit Different Shades of Blue, this record features all-original material, and it sees the maverick superstar guitarist, singer and songwriter tossing away the rule book as he continues to reinvent and redefine the blues-rock genre like no other artist working today.
I want people to hear my evolution as a blues-rock musician, says Bonamassa, somebody who isn't resting on accomplishments and who is always pushing forward and thinking about how music can evolve and stay relevant.
The writing sessions for Blues of Desperation took Bonamassa back to Nashville, where he'd composed Different Shades of Blue, to work with some of Music City's top tunesmiths, people like James House, Tom Hambridge, Jeffrey Steele, Jerry Flowers and Gary Nicholson.
These are some of the best guys in the business, Bonamassa raves. Lyrically, you'll hear the proverbial trains, mountains, valleys and other blues references about heartbreak and loneliness but there are also some poignant moments about getting away from the stressful, crazy demands of life and losing yourself with your special someone. I think anybody will be able to relate.
Bonamassa and his longtime producer Kevin Shirley (Led Zeppelin, Iron Maiden, Journey) convened at Nashville's Grand Victor Sound Studios (formerly known as RCA Studio A), and during an intense, five-day period they recorded 11 galvanizing songs with a crack group of musicians including drummers Anton Fig and Greg Morrow, bassist Michael Rhodes, keyboardist Reese Wynans, horn players Lee Thornburg, Paulie Cerra and Mark Douthit, and background singers Mahalia Barnes, Jade McRae and Juanita Tippins.
Of his decade-long collaboration with Shirley, Bonamassa says, I can explain our relationship with one word - 'trust.' I completely trust in Kevin and his musical promptings. He pushes my musical ability by challenging me to not just rest on my laurels or settle for 'good.' He expects more out of the other musicians as well and will not hold back when he sees us falling back into our usual routine.
Which sometimes calls for unorthodox measures, says Shirley, who admits that his idea of augmenting Bonamassa's usual recording band with second drummer Morrow was engineered to ruffle Joe's feathers.
I wanted him to work a little harder, like in his early years, he says, so I brought in an additional drummer, just to throw the cat amongst the pigeons. Of the results, Shirley raves, Recording 'Blues of Desperation' is one of the most exciting recording projects I've done. What a joyful noise we made!
Blues of Desperation is Bonamassa's most powerfully diverse and boldly realized album yet, with the material ranging from the gutsy, gritty blues call to arms of This Train (Joe's guitar is set to rude throughout) to the elegant yet emotionally shattering ballad What I've Known for a Very Long Time to the soul-nourishing, acoustic-based Americana of The Valley Runs Low, on which Bonamassa's voice rises up majestically to meet Barnes, McRae and Tippins in gospel-like rapture. And then there's the bleary, tequila-soaked Drive, dripping with the kind of raw, wicked and unsettling sensuality that could make David Lynch green with envy.
Throughout the record, Bonamassa's epic guitar playing conjures up stirring benedictions and explosive exorcisms of sound. No Good Place For the Lonely features some of the guitarist's most cauterizing licks yet, and the walloping title track is a white-knuckled, six-string thrill ride guaranteed to jolt the senses. Guitar fans everywhere (like those who recently voted Bonamassa Best Blues Guitarist in Guitar World magazine by an overwhelming margin) will consider Blues of Desperation a treasure trove of axe riches.
There are some long solos on this record and even some mini-jams in the middle of a track where the band would just jive and crank it out, he says. [During those jams], we do a tip of the hat to Beck and Clapton from the '70s. I think guitar nerds and music fans like myself will love it.
Packed with unparalleled musicianship and teeming with the most enthralling collection of songs in Bonamassa's career, Blues of Desperation is guaranteed to knock out critics and fans alike. By exceeding his own vertiginously high artistic goals, Bonamassa is bound to shatter all other expectations with this record and reach new audiences - no mean feat when you continue his astonishing track record of hits now includes 15 #1 Billboard Blues Albums (more than any other artist in history). 2014's Different Shades of Blue debuted at #8 on Billboard's Top 200 Chart, making it his highest charting album, his first top 10 and accounting for his biggest sales week ever. In 2014, the guitarist received his first-ever Grammy nomination (for Best Blues Album) for the album Seesaw, his second collaboration with blues singing star Beth Hart, and was named 2014's Billboard Blues Artist of the Year.1. Rossini OverturesCut at Abbey Road Studios from the Original Stereo Analogue Master Tapes
Sir Colin Davis conducts the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra for this audiophile recording of Overtures by Rossini.
This is one of Sir Colin Davis's early recordings before his signed to Philips, made when he was establishing his name as a conductor and was Musical Director at Sadler's Wells Opera Company in London, having come to their notice by conducting successful performances of Don Giovanni at the Royal Festival Hall standing in for Klemperer when he fell ill and The Magic Flute at Glyndebourne standing in for Beecham when he was taken ill. Davis went on to be chief conductor of the BBC Symphony Orchestra in 1967 and in 1971 succeeded Sir Georg Solti as Music Director of the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. He has since held posts with many international orchestras, including a ten year stint as chief conductor of the LSO in 1995. His repertoire is broad but he particularly associated with the music of Berlioz, Mozart and Sibelius.
Recorded on April 22, June 18 and October 23, 1961 at No. 1 Studio, Abbey Road, London. Produced by the legendary Peter Andry and engineered by Edward Huntley.
Cut at Abbey Road Studios from the original stereo analogue master tapes with the Neumann VMS82 lathe fed an analogue pre-cut signal from a specially adapted Studer A80 tape deck with additional 'advance' playback head, making the cut a totally analogue process.
In the original August 1962 review of the stereo release W. A. Chislett of the GRAMOPHONE wrote:
...Old war horses as they may be Mr. Davis approaches them as new works with splendid effect...There is brilliance and bite too where called for and some truly Rossinian crescendos. The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra gives of its very best, particularly in the many beautifully shaped solos for the woodwind and there is a magnificent attack from the brass section. The recording engineers are also on their best behaviour. The range of dynamics is very wide, but even with the wick turned well up the fortissimi are rich and round. But above all else this fine record is distinguished for the freshness of approach displayed by the conductor... the...recording...is first-class on both sides.

Mass & VolumeRecorded during the final hours of the sessions for the 'Phantom Limb' lp (Decibel Magazine's #1 record of 2007) 'Mass & Volume' finds Pig Destroyer's typically break neck speed virtually come to a grinding halt. 2 epic songs of crushing doom prove that Pig Destroyer cannot only dominate all other wickedly fast grind bands, but that when Pig Destroyer does slow, they do slow better than anyone else out there. If Pig Destroyer were to completely change gears and become a full time doom band, they would be the best doom band in the world. Until then we all have 'Mass & Volume' to hold us over.1.
